Hi,
I've been searching this forum for information about micro SDHC memory cards that can be used with the Kaiser P4550 and found that the A-Data company seems to make nice ones (fast read and write speeds) as tested by kms108 here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341277
However I cannot find where to purchase A-Data cards from within the UK. I have been looking for a Class 6 4GB memory card and have only been able to find one which I can purchase. It is by PEAK Company who are located in Taiwan I believe. I don't know if this card is good/compatible but I assume it will be;
http://www.peakhardware.com/products/productdetail.asp?Id=325&A=2&B=3&C=35
I have found out that the read speed of this card is 22.5MB/s (high?) but the write speed is 11.84MB/s. (low?)
If anyone can suggest an alternative class 6 SDHC 4GB card which I can purchase online from the UK or from a shop here I would be very appreciative. Also I would just like to buy a card that doesn't come with adapters and other devices lol.
When using a memory card within the PDA phone would the write speed actually matter in relation to the read speed for normal usage or should I just worry about the read speed?
Thanks
Just put one of these in my Kaiser last night. They have the 4GB too. These folks ship all over the world. Don't know what it'll cost to get across the pond though...

If the peaks memory card does offer that speed you have mention, then it's faster than the adata, but do remember a class 4 may not neccessary be slower than the class 6, do consider the sandisk 6GB or 8GB, the results are better than the adata, even with the test done on a low spec PC, for me I will not consider the peaks, haven't heard of it, go for a branded one, the sandisk can be found from many uk online store.
higher speed memory cards do offer a slightly improvement even on phones and PDA, but are more noticable on a PC.
FYI
test results can only be taken into consideration if done by consumers (the end user), and not by the manufacture.
if you are interested on any of the memory card in the test, I have some of them and they are readly available, you must have paypal, do PM me.

Thanks for the replies and info I guess ill be searching for the cheapest 4 or 6 gb sandisk card.
If you are shopping online in the UK be sure to avoid the following:
sandiskshop.co.uk
onlinememory.co.uk
pdaonline.co.uk
CarKitOnline.co.uk
but are all really anpruk.com
See this thread for more details http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345945
If you like to actually receive a product when you pay, best steer well clear of these crooks.
hey thanks for informing me about the crooks stuart_f . That really leaves me stumped about where to purchase a card from lol. I might buy it from http://bargainmemorycards.co.uk
Please help Many thanks.
edit
I have just found a 4GB class 6 A-Data that I can purchase online in the UK but its relatively expensive...might as well get a 6GB sandisk card for that amount i think.

Just bought a 6GB SanDisk one Class 4 from Amazon....cheaper than eBay and works great.
Could i have a link to the one you purchased from amazon please...just to compare prices. did it come from another company or directly from amazon? thanks

I really don't understand why some people rather ask and wait than just type in 'sandisk 6GB micro' in Amazon's search. Next time, try to do that on your own...
http://www.amazon.com/MicroSDHC-Ada...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1197710976&sr=8-2
hey _Alex_ i had a look at amazon.co.uk actually i just wanted to confirm it was the same one. it comes with an adapter and reader etc which i didnt want. however the one that you referenced to is from amazon.com and i cant afford to ship from abroad. thanks anyway.
Hey guys, I tried to search about this topic in the forum but I don'y anything about it or was it just already in pit of the forum?
Anyways, I would like to ask the maximum capacity of memory card for Elf(in)? I am planning to buy a micro-sd and I just want to buy the best available.
Does it support SDHC memory cards? And also, does using a large GB of memory presents a risk on my device to be brick when time goes on?
Thanks for the help guys!

I have 4gb micro sdhc and it works fine. I have heard that 8GB won't function properly after a while. But I am not a genius
SanDisk 8GB
I've been working with a SanDisk 8GB MicroSD HC for about 4 months now, and still have had no issues...
And that goes without saying that I think It's a fake SanDisk, because of the packaging.
Have an 8GB SanDisk on my Elfin. Works great.
@vette95: Good to hear that! Thanks for responding..
@htedum: how long have you bean using your 8gb micro-sd? Haven't experienced any problem yet? Any slow down or hangs?
i've been using 8gb in my elf for over a year and did not ever have any issues or hangs so i would recommend it.
just my 2 cents
Wow! Thanks bro for the feedback! Will buy 8gb now.. hehe..
Been using it for two weeks now; no problems at all. I've overclocked to 273 using HomeScreen, maybe that helps. Loaded up 6G worth of music and 1G worth of movies. Installed PocketPlayer (and TCPMP for movies), and I have a slick, portable media player. Battery life isn't bad at all, but I've ordered a 2500mAh replacement, waiting for that to come in.
A tip - be sure to pick up an original, name-brand card, even if you have to pay more. A lot of fakes going around, they may slow down your phone.
@vette95: No problems with your fake?
I've been searching google how to detect fake micro-sd but unfortunately the only info I got was to make sure the serial of the memory is readable and also try to call on the manufacturer and confirm the serial. Of course, I cannot do that when I am in the store, to check each items and call them. LOL. So do you know other ways how to know it if it is genuine?
The best bet would be to avoid ebay and the like; that's where most of them are floating around. Since you're buying retail, you should be pretty safe, since you can go right back to the store if you discover that it's fake.
From what I've read, there's also the issue of classes; best pick up class 6 or at least class 4. Class 2 will be slow.

Also check the packaging. Check if the fonts are printed alright and not fading or anything.
I have already bought a 4gb sdhc class 6 kingston micro-sd. There is no 8gb available in store so I decided to just go with 4gb and just upgrade when I need it. It was fast and I guest it is not fake(though I'm not sure). Thanks for the advice guys. I hope this will also be helpful for people who are planning to upgrade memory.
As far as I know, Transcend and Sandisk are the brands that are flooding in the market which are fake so I really looked for other brand. Fortunately I found one and it is made in Japan(the fakes are made in China written at the back of this brands) so I'm little confident with the memory I bought. hehe..
ive been using an 8gb card too for awhile now on my elfin. just got my 16gb card last month and havent had a problem yet. everything runs very smoothly.
i have 8GB V-gen and running well until now...
8gb
i´ve used a 8gb sdhc since a month without problems...it runs smoothly...
I bought a 16 gb sandisk sdhc. It didn't even register regardless of what drivers I installed on my phone.
I am still deliberating wether to get the HD2. One thing that worries me is the quite limited storage capacity with the microSD card. As far as I understand the microSD (SDHC) standard only supports up to 32GB capacities. I know 32GB is quite large, but I anticipate my needs will grow.
My question is - will HD2 be able to use the 64Gb, 128GB .... cards that come out probably one year from now.
Thanks for your help
Seeing 32GB cards aren't available yet, and we've been waiting for them for like 2 years, I'm pretty sure you'll have changed your HD2 before 64GB cards are here
But to the question, no idea. That would depend on whether drivers that support the new format extension are made available.
I believe 64GB is here in couple of months. Blackberry rumours are that new devices will come with support for 64GB microsd cards.
http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/32-64gb-micro-sd-cards-275113/
My friend ordered 2 usb sticks 64GB - 22USD each but I haven't seen them yet (I hope he gets them). That tells me that prices are still in freefall.
Sandisk is actually developing 128GB micorsd card: http://www.physorg.com/news143893844.html
I guess the problem is not with the sheer size of the microsd (ok that is important if you have a huge music library or movies or something else that needs to be on your phone all the time), but how fast it is while copying. If you put it in your phone and connect usb, how fast is it in disk mode? 20 MB/s?
HD2 has a microSDHD slot, which supports a maximum capacity of 32GB - or will it be able to use microSDXC cards? Is's probably more than a "firmware" upgrade from SDHC to SDXC.
I agree read and write speed are very important to - has anyone done any tests on the speed of the microSD slot?
20MB/s seems optimistic...
It's microSDHC... which means a maximum of 32GB.
microSDXC cards with more than 32GB will NOT work.

Well, SD to SDHC was a firmware upgrade away for many common controllers. But I've just done a little search and it seems that it might not be the case for SDHC to SDXC indeed.

It obviously depends a lot on the card used, some will take 3MB/s while some will take 20MB/s...
It does seem that it's a bit slower than a usual card reader, around 5MB/s with my class 6 8GB Sandisk card vs ~12 in a good card reader.
does HD2 support micro SDHC 64GB card?
Hi,
Here is a real eBay link to buy 64GB Micro SDHC card.
So we can put availability-problem aside.
Is it written in Micro SDHC specification that the limit is 32GB?
I dont see any 32GB size limit for Micro SDHC.
I would like to buy 64GB Micro SdHC
Can someone please tell me whether HD2 supports 64GB Micro SDHC?
Thanks in advance
Edit: confirmed that 64GB card works and its in use over a couple of years.

Just check in Google and don´t let Yourself be misled by wishful thinking: 32 GB mSD cards were announced by Sandisk in Feb 2009 and still we have to wait for shipping them by expansys or easydevices.co.uk until end of May 2010, maybe June..........
Do You really think an ebay-offer of 64GB is serious ? It is only that You BELIEVE in this offer since You badly want it ! It is like believing in a religion because You HOPE that someone else might tackle with Your problems and hopes. But there is NO such other, because it does not EXIST, as well as 64 GB mSD do not exist and will not exist for the next years.
Nobody will develop them, ´cause there will be no market for them ! When 64 GB + mSD cards can be built at a reasonable prize nobody would buy them ´cause everyone of the possible customers (esp. the people HERE = early adopters = tech freaks) will already have changed their devices 2-3 times to devices with mSDXC-standards (such as HTC HD3, HD4, HD5 .......... )
Don´t BELIEVE and HOPE, just KNOW and be REALISTIC: there will be no 64GB mSD-card .............

I just wanted to look for a bigger card than the stock 16GB, even a 32GB would do, nothing particular about 64GB, nor is looking for higher capacity card any pressing need.
I am least bothered to think so much about manufacturing trouble before looking for a higher capacity card, I dont give a damn about manufacturing trouble if any.
I just searched higher capacity card than 16GB and checked at one which happened to be 64GB.
There is no need to involve big things like hope or belief in something so unimportant or cheap as a SD card.
hello
Is there someone who really tested 64 or 128 GB SDXC, on HD2?
If i remenber well, 64gb is not possible
sent from my HD2 using XDA App
Yes, 64GB microSD works on HD2...
I've learnt to never say never...

Works fine! Just needs to be farmatted in Fat32
Since the 32 GB is available to buy (for me over the internet only) I would like to know if there is anyone who has tested its compatibility with Xperia X2.
(I am aware that specifications state that max memory card is 16, same thing with P1i as at the time of release maximum available was four, was certified for four only but works with 8GB no problem with that)

The SDHC specs are about cards starting from 4 to 32 gigabyte, so if anything can read a 16 GB card can also read a 32 one.
Memory
- Phone memory 110MB*
- microSD™ / microSDHC™ (up to 16GB)
so no go for 32GB sd card

Te 32GB uSD weren't available when the manual of the X2 was printed, and its spec finalized.
So, as always happen, the manufacturer can't guarantee for a card that simply doesn't exist.
That said the sdhc specifications aren't jokes, so they must fulfilled by both the phone and the card producers.
So if the 32GB cards aren't workink on X2 it's just becouse a bug and not because the manual says 16GB.
Sorry but my question aimed at a simple hands-on experience.
I am aware that the specs say 16 GB max because 32 wasn't available at the time, but as I mentioned above that didn't bother my P1i working with a card twice the size in the specs.
I just wanted to know for sure, because a hundred euros for 32 GB is by no means an amount to see gone with the wind. By the time I will choose another phone that is certified for 32 the price for that memory will probably decrease by half.
In other words:
Has anyone put a 32 GB card into X2 and saw it working?
Thank you, mates.

The X1 works for sure with the 32 GB cards, but seem that no one has really tried a 32GB card on the X2.
YES it works!
Wow, soooooooo much crap talk about 1 simple question! Here is the simple answer:
I have one, have it even posted here in the forum and YES it works perfectly!
Make sure you buy it from a "reliable" source! I would never buy it from ebay! I got it from Verizon as they have a great online special, as I also stated in my post before!
So get one and enjoy!
thank you all, hat off for the simple ;-) answers!
sorry to borrow ur post but does any1 know where could i buy class 10 sd card
size 8gb+
Hi all - just wondering what 16 and 32 gb cards are working in general with WPH
What make and model are you's using???
And have you got Amazon links so i can buy one???
Firstly your posting this question in the worng section should be in question and answers section.
And if you had looked i there you will see plenty of posts on this subject!!!

Hi
I'm using a 8 Gigs format in 2 partitions, which wp7 is slightly bigger than android and is working fine but limited of storage on both.
I'm think you will be OK as long you stick with normal brands (sand disk, nokia)
Just don't go for the ones from china 16 Gigs class 6 for £10 they are waste of money.
yet another fail!
there isnt any way of knowing if any card will work, ignore anyone telling you otherwise, your just as likely to get a cheap ebay working as you are a sandisk, just try sticking to class 2 or 4, thats not to say 6 or 10 wont work but its more likely.

There are a lot of people that disagree. Some people have consistently seen a difference. Can you give the reason you believe there is no difference, or why the class 2's and 4's are more likely to work? I would just like to know before my friend buys one for his Leo
This week I changed my micro SD card to a 16GB class10 card and the new card is working much more faster than the 16GB card I used before. I don´t know if the class10 card is necessary but the card was not so expensive (25€ @ Ebay) and the performance is really better.

You cant prove a negative so to speak, you prove to me that they all work an ill take back my comment.
Of course thats not possible because it isnt true, so i am correct by default, there is no way of knowing if any card will work at all unless you have tried that physical card in your device
the reason class 2 and 4 are more likely to work is probably because of random access speeds, manufactures employ all sorts of methods to bump up sequential speeds on SD cards because thats generally all they are used for, large photo/video files, by and large there is very little random access at all, so they use methods that increase the sequential speeds but have a negative effect on random speeds.
if you look at most WP7 devices and the att WP7 branded cards most of them are class 2 or 4
now thats not to say someone hasnt made a class 10 with great random speeds as well which is why its possible you might get one to work but its less likely
hence my statment that its impossible to know whats going to happen, until manufactures either A, ensure that all stock on an existing SKU is identical (wont happen) or B they actually make a WP7 SKU its self, these threads serve no one at all, and potentially could lead to people wasteing money on something that doesnt work for them
