How to downgrade the Radio Stack? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Anyone can help me?
Because i'm very depresed now. I've upgrade my radio stack to version 4.21, then my Xda won't works with my satelindo Indonesia GSM Card.
Someone can help me? I'm very happy if there any want to email me the steps how to downgrade the radio stack. i will appreciate it.
sorry for my bad english.

What frequency does your provider use? I have 4.21 it works fine on 900/1800. I know of no method for downgrading radio stack.

My country using 900/1800 frequent.
Some GSM operator could work on my Xda. But the Satelindo GSM Card couldn't!
Really? There isn''t any way to downgrade the radio stack?
O my goodd....!!!!!
Should i change my mobile number?????

i would do a seach in the forum maybe somebody have a way of doing it

what ever would that help ? that is unless you changed phone company to a working one at the same time

Niki, so you are saying the satelindo sim has never worked with the xda? If that is correct you havent lost anything, and risking a radio downgrade will not help anyway even if it could be done. If you want to use your xda then you will need a sim that works on 900/1800, do you know the frequency that Satelindo uses?

Satelindo GSM is the operator in my country which use 900/1800 freq.
But when i using Telkomsel GSM, it's work's! Why? They are using same freq! (900/1800)?
If you take a look in www.myxda.com, there are one announcement that Satelindo GSM 64 Kb doesn't compatible with the new ROM. But i'm using 32 Kb GSM Card and it's still happening!

looks more like an issue with odd sim cards then a radiostack issue

i could be totally wrong here but maybe its your sim card at fault, maybe it isnt data activated. i tried my xda with my old - working - t-mobile payg card and altho' the xda worked i could neither make nor receive calls. i think it has something to do with the services offered by providers.
ian
Did think that m80, will they "data activated" if i call Orange??
Thanks
Does the sim work in another phone, has the sim ever worked in the xda, have you tried a different sim in the xda, I dont know where you got the phone but it may be that it is blocked to all networks, did you ever see the xda working before the upgrade to developers rom 1.2
Yes the sim works in another phone.
No the sim has never worked in the XDA.
No i didnt see the XDA working b4 i upgraded.
Thanks m80, any ideas??

I have upgraded the Radio Stack to 4.21.00 still no joy!
Any ideas, it searches for a netwrok then says No Signal
Thanks again in advance
 N
sim/xda problems
sometimes the switch on process can take a while. have you tried the card in another phone? do you have a non-payg sim card that you could test in the phone?
do you know someone with a card?
have you unlocked the phone?
i really don't know what to suggest but if you've tried every combination of cards and activation then its either the software or the phone.
mug someone with an xda and use there sim card.
ian
Orange with No Signal
I have a Orange contract sim and it does'nt have a signal either but it worked until i updated the the radio stack to 4.21 but a downgrade is not possible, i have tried t-mobile and still the same problem. if anyone knows how to downgrade it to radio stack 4.01 which is 1 that i know that works. Lets hope XDA-Developers and suss out how to copy the GSM In the Wallaby Bootloader. if anyone can solve this problem you should be king.....
use the band switching tool lol
its most probally on 900mhz (voda,3,bt) instead of 1800 (orange, virgin, 121)
1900 is the american signal also if you have upgraded your phone to pc2003 then you cant get it to work on orange then lol coz it only allows you to do 900 or 1900
Thanks alot for all of your help guys
I have tried an O2 payas u go Sim and it works, very strange!!
But Yes it is defo unlocked!!
Will keep trying the Orange Sim and find out why it wont work!!
What are the setting for GPRS for O2?? Please
Thanks again all

Advice Req. Make a US T-mobile work in Australia?

Hi, I have aquired a T-mobile from the U.S.
Before attempting to re-flash it to get it to work in Australia I just want some advice that I am about to do the right thing...
Here are its specs:-
Branded T-Mobile
ROM v 3.08.10ENG
Radio v 6.02
Model PW10B1
After some reading of these forums I have concluded it must be a 900/1900 GSM device, and it appears to be SIM locked.
(Here in Aus. we have a 900/1800 GSM system).
I intend to use a cooked rom from jeffs site to upgrade the rom.
Does the rom I use have to be one of the T-Mobile US roms ?
I realise that i wont have 1800 coverage. But will 900 still work?
Anyway, because of the sim lock I intend to proceed with a rom update.
I intend to:
Backup rom using SD card method
Download a V4.xxx T-mobile US cooked rom
Update rom using USB method
Any comments/advice appreciated (any local experience here?)
Regards from DownUnder.
well first off... i suggest you upgrade to Special rom 1.2 first.
that one will unlock your pda, so you can use it anywhere.
and about band... i'm sure i saw 1800 in the bootloader!
but not sure if you select it as default if it will carry over to the os
maybe worth a try.
in any case, if you back up your os onto SD, you have nothing to fear.
i say best thing to do, is copy that O2 os & radio (if you're sure u'll never leave australia, i dont think radios can be manipulated that often)
but dont take my word for it. wait for a confirmed user. if your not advanturous
Good Luck!
Yep, I backed up and upgraded to SE v1.2 rom using the SD card/OSImagetool method.
SIM unlocked ok
Phone works if 900mhz band is selected.
Its now thinks it's a model PW10A1.
Radio is still the 6.02 version. (B ver. )
Not sure what the consequences of this are.
Im not sure if i would benefit from a radio upgrade or not.
If I understand this correctly, I can ONLY upgrade the radio to the T-Mobile US versions, because the radio hardware is B version.
I think I will leave it like this for a while, see how it go's.
Anybody have any experience with using a B (US)version radio in a A Ver.(euro/asian) area.??

Thanks for the advice ntabikha and THANK YOU to the XDA Developers team.

PW10A1 is identified as PW10B1,please help!

My O2 XDA PW10A1 (as labeled on the back of the device) is identified as PW10B1 in Device Information after updated to wm2003 a30.09 and RSU4.21. How can I get it identified correctly?
PS. Someone told me that there are two different RSU4.21 radios, one is for EU,the other is for Asia.Is there any differences between these two radios?Where can I download a RSU 4.21 radio for Asia?
It doesnt change anything, your phone is still 900/1800 band. If your phone works ok with the existing radio stack I would suggest leaving it alone as upgrading radio stacks can be very risky.
Updating the OS ROM to the correct version will change the iD. Changing the Radio stack is risky and could leave your phone as a paper weight.
When updating I highly suggest the SD method.
Thanks a lot
Thanks guys, for your great suggestions.
same here...
i upgraded OS when i was in phone settings it changes my band to 1900 , now i cant back it to normal state when i may use phone...
any solution how to change this band again to normal not 900/1900 ?
HEEELP:/ i need phone operating in next 30 mins :/
solved..
I changed band using bootloader
LONG LIVE XDA DEVELOPERS!

Can not pick up the network after finally unlocking..HELP;-)

Hello,
How are you?
After finally managing to unlock my xda, it does not find any networks!
My ROM Version is 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date 12/22/03
Radio Version 6.24.00
Protocol version 324e4
Does anyone know of this problem?
Please help me.. I was so happy to unlock it and now i have run into this problem....
I have read that you shouldn't play with the gsm menu in the bootloader screen.. well i did play with them before i knew i shouldn't. Could this be the problem?
Is there a way to reset it?
Should I go to a different radio version?
Please help,
I live in France and I am on the french bouygtel network. I believe this is a 900/1800 gsm network.
Thank you,
monza

6.24.00 radio is for PWA10B1 and for 900/1900 networks only (for USA).
If you have a PWA10A1 model (check the back of your PDA), you should use 4.21.00 for 900/1800. Note: upgrading Radio Stack is very risky, do it for your own responsibility! So after you downgraded to 4.21, enter bootloader, press calendar button then select "900/1800" and soft reset.
You can get 4.21 radio stack from here:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21_PPC.zip for the ppc install version and
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/tools/RSU_V4.21.zip for the activesync version. I remind you, upgrading radio stack is risky!!
Search in the forums how to upgrade radio stack.
Oh, and entering bootloader makes a hard reset.
KTamas... Thank you very very very much...
Thank you very very very much.....
You are a god ;-)
It worked.
Compatibility of SEROM with Radio A.20.10
I had been asking a similar question elsewhere in the forum.
Given these device specs,
ROM Version : A.21.02 ENG
ROM date: 10/17/03
Radio Version : A.20.10
Protocol version : 324e4
Carrier : AT&T GSM/GPRS in the USA,
would you know if the version of the Special Edition ROM v1.2 available on this site (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/SpecialEditionROM) should be compatible with this radio stack or not? I would not want to do a RS up/downgrade if I can avoid it.

Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
I've just acquired a T-Mobile (unlocked) and want to use it in New Zealand, which has a European setting, 900/1800. The T-Mobile is a PW10B1, which I think is setup to operate on a different frequency.
Can I swap the radio stack to operate on my local GSM network, or will I fry the PDA.
If I do swap the radio stack, and it fails - is there a ROM which I can use to rebuild the PDA with instructions on how to do this (URLS and links would be VERY much appreciated!)
Thanks, Hamish

PWA10B1 is for 900/1900 ONLY. You cant swap radio strack - if your provider works on 900 mhz, then you have to use it on that freq.
T-Mobile in NZ (from Canada)
Thanks for the reply.
Since then, I've installed a v4 radio stack (as described earlier in this thread) and the system does boot, but won't see my PC for Active Sync and also won't see the network.
I'm downloading the official T-Mobile ROM which I hope I can use, but if activesync won't work, any suggestions as to how to get the ROM loaded?
Also, is there a utility to select the network bandwidth, as there wasn't one already on the device - and I'm beginning to get a little concerned now!
Many thanks for your time so far!

You can choose 900/1800 or 900/1900 from the bootloader, press/hold power while pushing reset with stylus, then when screen appears, push the button below the antenna, choose your appropriate band and from there, for model A choose 900/1800 for model B choose 900/1900. Make sure you have a working backup of your data when using this method.
Using a T-Mobile on European GSM
Thanks for your help.....I managed to get it into bootloader, but was pressing the contacts button (left) rather than the right (calendar).
I now have managed to get the device to see the local 900MHz network, so it's functioning !
Your help has been much appreciated!

thanks all
moga
I seem to remember being able to access different GSM bands in the bootloader. Perhaps trying that will work? Details about the various GSM bands available and how to get into the Wallaby's bootloader are elsewhere in this forum. Also, depending on the version you have; PW10A or PW10B, different GSM bands are supported so you may be in a situation where you're unable to use your Wallaby in your country because of a hardware limitation, to which there is no solution. AFAIK, one supports 900/1800 (PW10A) and the other supports 900/1900 (PW10B)
Regards,
Neil.
thank you for replay
i tried all
what i am thinking if we can add config for the network or what do you think
i change form pw10b1 to pw10a1 and again to pw10b1 do you think as
in most of phone there is a file of tune like pmm in nokia without this file the phone will not got a signal
thanks
moga
if you have an american model it should work with 900/1900
and if you have a non american model it should work with 900/1800
so it should work with 900 no matter what
it's all in the radio stack but
a radiostack CANT! change it it's hardwired in the gsm module
but a gsm module can get confused and stop working if a radio stack for US is put on a non US device and the other way around
look into which device it is you have and put the right radio stack on it if it will let you
have u find radio version works fine with egypt ? please help
i am working on radio 3.23 but signal is weak and when iam in low coverage signal lost and its does come back until i turn off and on network again
