downloads for XDAII - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

how do i get new wallpapers and ringtones etc etc for my XDA other than the ones they already provide?

as to ring tones then what you are really asking is
where can i get .wav .mp3 and .mid files
because you can use them all
so use google
about wallpapir then all pictures that the xda can display will do
more to the point then i feel you may be looking for skins for the today screen
which are called .tsk
here are some
http://www.free-computer-wallpapers.com/pocket-pc.htm
here is how you find some more
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=pocketpc+theme&btnG=Google-søgning

do i open download it on my computer then sync it onto my XDA or download it straight to my XDA?

for tsk files, you need to use activesync and save the file directly to your unit's"my documents" folder. for pics, the xda2 allows you use the picture software to set any pic you want as the wallpaper.
for wavs used as ringtones, you can save them direct to your unit's "windows" folder. you then need to use the "add ringtone" app to be able to use the wav file as a ringtone. or simply use them for notification sounds, alarms, etc. again, tyhrough activesync.
or if you have an sd-card reader you can simply save the files to the card, insert it back to the ppc and then save them in the designated folders described above.

HTC Audio Manager OEM Package WORKING!!!

Here is a new audio player 4 ya! Customizable, big buttons, etc. Pack into ROM ENJOY!!!
Very Nice... Finally an app that I like more than WMP.
how do you install it?
Its for ROM cooking (you place the folder in the OEM one) but if you copy the folder into your phone and you run the .exe it runs OK

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
then put a shortcut on your start menu and your set
Looks very good, but I think wmp is better
Anyone want to post a screen shot or maybe a cab file for this?
A few screenshots and a feature list would be a better way of encouraging usage. Simply telling me that this is "customizable" is hardly a big reason for me to bother downloading it!
No offence and I'm grateful you shared the app but I'd appreciate it if you'd also share some information about it.
[Edit]
I did a little research of my own and assuming this is the same thing, it's a nice looking app. Two features that look nice compared with built-in WMP: ability to create playlists on the phone and ability to make an MP3 (or your selected part of an MP3) into a ringtone.
See the app in action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwhTHFoXPiQ
the video one looks better
here it is in cab form. It just installs to the windows drive, copies the shortcut and installs the reg keys.
what reg keys?
I did it the old fashion way, copy over and created shortcut myself. havent checked if it created reg keys. kinda lazy right now
these ones are included in the package
Code:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\audiomanagerapp\DefaultIcon]
@="AudioManager.exe,-102"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\audiomanagerapp\SelectIcon]
@="AudioManager.exe,-103"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\AudioManager]
"AudioManager"="1.0"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\MASD]
"AudioManager"="1_2_409721_v"
Screenshot
I love this program... Not too sure how to skin it yet, but it's very nice by default.

Thank you for the screen shot and the cab file
Been running it for a few days now. Works great. The power consumption is just unbelievable. It hardly consumes anything. Weird. I hope there is some way to show album art. It looks too plain
What video one?
just installed on prophet, works well.
thanks you guys!
What is different about this than the already installed WMP?
great app
installed on wizard...nice app, it's more intuitive than WMP.
well i thinks its nice, but it doesnt have a Today screen plugin like WMP does, but the make your own custom rington is really cool. other than that its not that different.

Where are WAV files stored? MP3?

I am looking to ad some new ringtones to my 8525 Hermes, but I am not even sure if it accepts MP3 files for ringtones, and most importantly, where are the ringtones files kept? Thanks

\windows\rings\
Theoretically you can put them on SD card and make a change to the registry but don't do it cos that can sverely delay ringing on icoming calls and even cause a crash.
Now as to MP3s the answer is yes but I suggest you use the google sticky search near the top of the messages listings to carry out searches on the hermes and MP3. That Google sticky post would also have answered your question about where to store ringtomes

Hey Mike
I know that a Scottish accent makes it difficult for many Americans to understand the Gaelic substratum, but I never knew that the spelling of English words was also that different in Scotland!
By the way, you never did tell me where the optimal folder for placing ringtones is located. One of the ringtone vendors said Windows\Ring was where they go, but when I opened the folder it was empty. I guess that the ringtones that came with the phone are in ROM or are in a different folder.

Cheeky monkey Those missing letters are a result of being in a rush to type the answer and it being late at night in Scotland and me using a mini keyboard and ..... and..... and......
Since we are getting petty here, I did state the folder, right at the start of the message and in bold "windows/rings".

Can you send photo via bluetooth on HD2

Because if you can I dont know how, I cant send them to it but not from it as it doesnt seem to have the option, which is stupid if thats the case
There's no bluetooth send option out of the box. A lot of 3rd party applications allow you to do it though.
Thats crap, for such an espensive fancy phone and it doesnt do it!, and yet my 10yr old Nokia does!
ofc you can send pictures. go to file explorer and press a bit on the file you want to sent and then select send via bluetooth. just like you would do in a pc
Ok thanks will try that.....btw whats "ofc"
ofc is "of course". and this works 100% i have done it.
But in the File Explorer you have no preview of the photo...just the name. So you have to search for the right one. It would be much better if there were an option to send the photo via bluetooth out of the Album. No big deal I think as there is send via MAIL, MESSAGE and FACEBOOK already. Best way at the moment is to use the windows "Album"...
start - pictures & video - find pic you want to send in teh preview pane - press and hold it, top option is 'send via bluetooth'
I think it need only some modifications/addings in Registry.
I found interesting path: HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\SendCommand and HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\SendCommand_Video:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
With this example we can make new KEY "Bluetooth" and add following:
AgentName: dunno what here
CommandName_0415: Send via Bluetooth
CommandOrder: 0x5 (5)
Enable: 0x1 (1)
ModuleName: Send via Bluetooth

Mp3 as ringtone?

I just convinced my dad to get a Streak. However he really needs the ability to use a custom mp3 as a ringtone. He has made specific songs for each of his kids and he likes them to ring that way. I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?
Where or how can I link specific mp3 as ringtonefor a contact?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Long press on a song in the stock music player, and then select "Use as phone ringtone".
*Edit: The only way i know to setup ringtones specific to individuals is if you use handscent mms app. Go to your contacts, and select one, then press menu>options>ringtone and tap select music with the handscent icon, then tap music and select the song.
Download ringdroid from the market, you can create ringtones from your mp3 files and use it for specific person, just what you need.

+1 for ringroid ... A must havr
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
When you view the contact details tap the menu key and then select options. You can then set a custom ringtone. (Android 2.2)
The folder structure (this is on the external SD Card) that ringdroid uses is:
Code:
media
/audio
/alarms
/notifications
/ringtones
You can create the same structure using a file explorer such as ES File Explorer and copy any existing ring or notification tones into the appropriate folder and the ringtone picker will see the file.

If your Dad just got the Streak and it has Android 1.6 you will probably want to check into upgrading to Android 2.2

FINALLY Easy Method for CUSTOM Ringtone in HTC HD7 !!!!!!!

Making your own tones
But we know many of you have a particular ringtone in mind—or sound files already on your PC that you’d like to turn into one. In Mango, we give you the flexibility to do this yourself—with some important caveats. To qualify as a ringtone, a sound file must be:
1. 39 seconds or shorter
2. smaller than 1 megabyte (MB)
3. saved in MP3 or WMA format
4. not copy-protected (i.e. DRM free)
In short, custom ringtones can be installed using the Zune software on your PC. Once you’ve created an audio file that meets the ringtone requirements, find it in your Zune music collection, right-click the file, and change the Genre field to Ringtone. Then just sync the file to your phone like you would any music track.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Don’t worry: items marked Ringtone won’t show up in your phone’s music collection—so there’s no need to fear that during a workout you’ll suddenly hear your dog barking or other homemade ring. Instead, you’ll see them in Ringtones + Sounds in Settings, under a new Custom category we’ve created.
god very nice solution, thank youuuu. it s better short way to make your own ringtones.
This trick was posted in WP7 forum at begining of September. Can be used only on Zune 4.8 final.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
