Downgrading T-Mobile Radio 6.24.01 TO 6.18 (Original) - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi,
For warranty issues i have to send the pocket pc phone in for a replacement, but i have upgraded to T-Mobile 4.01 with the new radio Stack.
I can downgrade the OS to original 3.18 but the radio is not downgrading - can anyone please help and post instructions on downgrading to the original Radio...would greatly appreciate.
thanx

As far as i have read (and I've read several posts) there is no way to go back to a previous RS version.

If it is a hardware fault on the phone and is under warranty and not due to misuse like dropping it or breaking screen etc, I cant see that they would bother checking the radio version, probably just chuck in a box with a bunch of others.

Yeah... I've had to return a couple of them. I've always flashed them back to the old rom, but not the radio stack. I've never had any comments on it from TMObile.

I may have been wrong, I have heard that its possible to downgrade the same way you upgrade. Copy the original RUU files into the windows dir and run them. I hear that this might bring it back to it's original radio.
If you try and it works let us know, this is something that is discussed often but never really answered.

I returned a phone cause i dropped it and cracked the screen. I put the original rom back, but left the radio stack. they never mentioned anything.
But, my current problem could be due to the radio stack, cause the new phone i got often times turns off (soft reset). I don't want to call in a warranty issue until i can either put back the old RS or until t-mo officially releases the new one. So... if you find a way to do it, please, please let us know.
I tried the method ntwebguy mentioned, but with no luck, but i don't remember exactly how it failed... I think it just said a newer version already existed on the phone.
I assume there must be a way to do it for the sake of testing if nothing else, but I have not seen anyone that was able to.
John

john - it's most likely hardware, i've had 4 different XDA's from Tmobile and they all did the same thing. i'm in the same boat as you with 4.01 and 6.24 installed waiting for the official release to send this one back in.
that being said, i have an idea - too risky for me though
what if you "upgraded" to ATT or O2's radio stack and then "upgraded" back to Tmobile 6.18?

I was looking at the website for "Traffic-I". This is a subscription system for traffic info (and a sort of GPS ?)
The free trial refers to XDA2 not XDA1. I assume that is because the XDA2 has W2003 0n as standard?
Is it possible to upgrade my O/S to 2003. I'm not sure what version i have as i bought mine used.
Thanks

Yes you can do it my recommendation persists just on upgrading the RUU not the RSU, there's a lots of threads posting how to upgrade to WM2003, search, read more and learn
Thanks for the tips. I assume then that upgrading the RUU only, will allow all Wm2003 programs to work on my device. This upgrade is reversible if the threads regarding original back ups are followed?

Yes what you need is upgrading the RUU. It will allow all wm2003 to work on ur unit, thus you could back up as well your original default rom before installing the one that you'll cook
Ok thanks for that. I'l llook up how to back up old ROM first then get my oven gloves on and start cooking
Where Can I Download ROM WM2003
i try up grade to wm2003 T-Mobile 4.00.21 but i cant do cause i have Error message my machine use PW10A1, that version just for PW10B1..
So how can i get version for my machine??
Now i use :
ROM. 3.20.06
RS 4.01.
4.00.21 is very outdated ... try 4.01.16 and don't worry about the version as long as you do NOT touch the RSU part
Where ??
Where i can download ROM 4.01.16 have u or give me link

I've had to stop using my XDA for the moment. It's a great piece of kit but the incoming signal quality is quite poor (Compared to a normal mobile) I've missed several calls that have gone straight to my answerphone when i normally never miss any. There are some threads about signal quality but shouldnt this be built in from new as being totaly reliable. Any comments appreciated.
RSU flashing might help ... but it's VERY risky

Yes point taken on that!. To be quite honest the RUU part of the XDA (The programs etc) work really well and i'm not too bothered about any mods there. I'ts just that i use it for work and i can't really afford to miss calls and not being an expert in these things i find it hard to accept that the incoming signal quality is dependant on what sort of RUU software you have.
I suppose that as i'm not using it at all, and upgrading is risky but recoverable? and if it was out of action temporarily whilst a software failure was being put right then this would not be a problem for me. What i would worry about is if it all went belly up would i be able to get help on restoring it back to it's former glory?
Doug
recovering failed RSU flashing is a very tough process, and might not work as well ... you have to be very careful.
As a matter of fact, I 've done many RSU flashing before and all went OK ... but I know about many horrible stories about dead devices that can't be repaired except by h/w replacement.
If you can't really use it, it's ok to go for RSU flashing but pick the right RSU upgrade ... and stay away from O2 RSU 4.21
OK Biso007 i think you have convinced me. I think i will reluctantly sell the XDA (Someone will get a bargain as it has TT3 and maps on it) and wait a little while and see what else comes up.
Cheers
Doug

Rollback from 6.1 to 6.0 (vzw xv6800)

Is the original WM 6.0 ROM for the vzw xv6800 up on the vzw or htc site?
(I'm paranoid so I really would like to download it from one of those two sites.)
Or are there tools that will allow me to copy the ROM out to later restore?
I ask because I'm about to upgrade to WM 6.1 and I want a rollback option before I take the plunge. Basically, I would hate to find out that after the upgrade one or more apps I have working on 6.0, stop working on 6.1. I would, specifically, hate to loose ability to make free international calls with Skype. (Has anybody got Skype working on 6.1?)
I don't think there is an easy way back as the 6.1 ROM also has a new Radio ROM and PRI version. You would have to contact VZW to get the 6.0 ROM but there is an unofficial one in the Wiki for the Titan. You would need to follow the process for taking your phone back to stock or 6.0 and see if it works or not. I would call VZW and see how they would advise on how to do this as well. Using both 6.0 and 6.1 I personally have not found any issues with any of my apps but there were a few that others did. You might check the build version in DCD's custom ROMs and see when his went to 6.1 and if people had any issues with any third party apps.
I'm going to give this a try anyway. After upgradeing to 6.1 from verizons link the bluetooth in my xv6800 wouldn't sync my contact listing with my 2007 mercedes e350 anylonger (it worked great when I was running the orig ROM with 6.0). And verizon support says I'm stuck at 6.1 whether I like it or not. UTC said the same.
So, my options are to either
A) upgrade my Benz to an 09 model that can handle this new bluetooth obx profile stuff so I can resync my contact list to my car. lol
B) pay for a new phone for $400 (yes, i'm so lazy I'd pay $400 just to get my contact list in my car back)
C) attempt to revert back to windows mobile 6.0
if I brick it or can't make any progress I go back to Verizon and show them I bricked my phone trying to upgrade and see what they say.
So, with that said, here is my plan. Someone correct me if I'm way off here or saying something you know or suspect will not work
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
WILL THOSE INSTRUCTIONS NOT WORK? It says in section II, step 7...
"Press the CAMERA-POWER-RESET buttons at the same time in order to enter the bootloader. You should see a screen that says SPL-2.07.0000. If you see this text, your SPL has been sucessfully updated. If you do not, power of your phone and start over from step 1. To return back to your phone, press the RESET button. "
well, I'm at 2.07.0000 right now so I should be good to proceed with the remaining instructions, correct?
OR... do I need to go thru the hassle of first moving up to 2.40 bootloader... then back down to SPL 2.07.0000 and THEN I proceed after section II step 7?
wish me luck.
Thanks,
Ben
Yep! It worked. I'm back at 6.0 now.
Just booted for the first time and it self installed all those first time CABs.
Now I'm restoring from an spb backup that I had made just prior to my upgrade to 6.1 and I should be back in business.
Ben
*edit: and my bluetooth in my phone is fully integrated and working my my mercedes once again... yay! 6.1 was pretty cool other than that one issue I was having. I wouldve left it at 6.1 otherwise. But its good to know you can go back if you really wanted too.
Thanks for blazing the trail, Ben. Skype stopped working for me (both the beta and the latest version). Looks like I'll be heading back to 6.0.
send me a message if you have any questions during your rollback. It is very simple to rollback to 6.0 from the verizon 6.1 ROM update.
Here is what I did:
I bought a 1 gig micro card and card reader and formated it to FAT32 from my laptop... format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024
*where ? was the drive letter of my card
Then I downloaded the verizon stock ROM ruu_signed.nbh file and copied it to the root directory of the card... renamed it TITAIMG.nbh.
*edit: i used the stock verizon ROM from the wiki Titan Stock link... Verizon themselves do not have a 6.0 ROM, hard to imagine but thats what their support people said. Or maybe they think we, their customers, are too dimwitted to do anything with it.
plugged the card into the phone and then I pressed the POWER + CAMERA + SOFTRESET buttons (to enter into bootloader) and watched it do its stuff.
Then I had to call verizon support (from a different phone of course) after getting back into Windows 6.0 and they had me reprogram my phone by calling *228 and select option #1... then the support person gave me a new authentication number and they had to re-setup my ip address settings from their end.
WHen that was done and I confirmed I could make and receive calls and had data connection, I then restored my applications and contact info etc from a backup I took prior to upgrading to 6.1.
Then I was back to exactly how I was prior to upgrading to 6.1
The verizon guy was impressed. They hadn't heard of anyone being able to go back after upgrading to 6.1. Without the wiki links from this forum I wouldn't have been able to do it.
Thanks,
Ben
It really sux that vzw doesn't have a rollback for this. Not only does skype not work on this phone but I can't get my bluetooth GPS to work either. (yeah, I upgraded to 6.1 so I could use the built in aGPS but it does not look like aGPS works with mgmaps.) I'll be buying a 1GB microSD come Monday.
Thanks again, Ben.
well, I get to do this again. Yay!
I dropped my phone onto the cement sidewalk while I taking out the trash and damaged it pretty good.
Asurion (the insurance company I have my plan with) just shipped me overnight a new (refurbashed?) phone with the 6.1 already loaded. And yep, the OBEX bluetooth handsfree profile won't work with my car. The phonebook doesn't synch with my car. So I'm rolling back this one to 6.0 too.
Too bad really. I like 6.1. Anyone know if 6.1 is available on a cooked ROM but with the original vzw 6.0 bluetooth obex profiles?
Anyway, here I go again at least I know I can do it and I'm not stuck with 6.1
Ben
When you did the rollback to version 6.0, did it update your PRI back to the 1.35 version as well?

I don't know what PRI is or to see what version it is. If you tell me where to view that I'll post what I find.
here are some of the #s I do know...
SPL 1.04
R 1.30.60
D 2.09
By the way, the rollback worked on this refurbashed phone that came pree loaded with 6.1... the rollback worked the same as when I rolled back my original phone with the VZW mr1 download. Except this latest time I didn't have to reauthenticate the number. They did have to reset my ip info though but that took only a few minutes.
I don't know why but I find this thread amusing. The 2007 benz os works fine with whatever radio and rom combination I have ever used. Did you try and and do a stock verizon 6.1 update? Let me share something and its not just because I am a tech junkie. I can obviously see that there is fear in updating outside of stock vzn rom, but let me paint a picture for you; DCD'S ROMS ARE FAR MORE STABLE AND PRODUCTIVE THAN ANY CARRIER ROMS. They have less junk that you don't need crash much less and sync with everything seemlesly. A bluetooth receiver for a titan? Come on. Do you know that you have a built in gps one receiver in your titan that with verizon you can have locking in 30 seconds or less every time? It is not hard to update to one of these roms, especially if you have everything backed up. If you pm me I will glide you through the process. It may take you 1-2 hours of your time but you will be so much more satisfied with your titan.
PM sent!
which 6.1 ROM do you recommend?
Thanks,
Ben
Something interesting for those of you who are downgrading...
If you follow the instructions on the Wiki, not only will it revert the phone to true stock condition (rom version, prl, pri, etc) but it will also restore your gpsOne settings.
I had a phone that has the bad pickles on the screen... I was bringing it into the store for a replacement and upgraded to MR1. They were of course out of replacements and shipped a dummy phone and I was in need of GPS (I had issues with the adapter program and iGuidance and MR1) so I reverted back to stock (following the WIKI instructions) and then DCD 3.34. I was having issues with GPS after reverting back and when I checked the gpsOne setting that I had made with the QPST program, my prior changes had been overwritten.
Just an FYI...
yeah, I rolled back from the mr1 using the wiki instructions and it is a pieace of cake.
actually my phone is doing all I need it to do at the moment and I've been exceedingly pleased with it.
guess i'm somewhere between intermediate and advanced. ha.
I may get bored ovr the holidays tho and try out the DCD 3.34 rom.
Sweeny, I sent you a PM... can you confirm the DCD3.34 works with your mercedes 2007 and can synch the contacts? would be good to have confirmation before I spend a few hours only to have to rollback again
thanks
Ben

just to clarify, are you recommending against upgrade to 3.34 then because the gpsone setting gets overwritten?
thanks and I apologize for my newbish questions.

well, I am an "intermediate" afterall. ha. I just read 30+ pages of the 3.3.4 rom and it looks great! but at the same time there are quite a few reports of people having some issues (keyboard, capslock, start menu dissapearing, etc.. that may all be install/user errors or related to version of the taskmanager they have).
But I've decided that since I'm intermediate level and admittidly a little "scared", I'm going to stick with my boring ole stock ROM at least for now.
Thanks for the info though guys.
*EDIT: well, I'm feeling adventurous. ha. I'm going to give the DCD 3.2.6 a shot tomorrow... and considering using radio 3.42.40 (or any reason not to try the 3.42.50?)... and the Nue SPL 2.47. Shoot, if it don't work all I've got to do is downgrade back to the stock vzw 6.0 right? I'm assuming I can still go back to that factory vzw 6.0 rom using the unlocked bootloader or at least using the lock 2.07 bootloader (the stock verizon bootloader is actually 1.04 and their isn't a way to get back to it after upgrading)
Oh, and blancmik... I did finally see where the pri # is in my EPST settings... yes, the rollback did set it back to 1.35_002
Also, thanks to Russ for the PM. appreciate the info.
This thread has shifted slightly off topic and I apologize for that... hopefully though it will give insight to the newbs who didn't like the factory MR1 6.1 UPDATE for whatever reason.
Thanks,
Ben
I've gotten really good at flashing ROMs, SPLs and Radios lately. lol. I've tried the VZW MR1 6.1 ROM... the DCD 3.3.4 and 3.2.6 both using the 3.37.20 radio and nue2.47 SPL. none of these 6.1 ROMs work with mercedes <=2008 model year bluetooth
Mercedes 2007 COMMAND system does not work with the obex bluetooth handsfree profiles in that the contact list from my phone does not synch with the mercedes. Incomming and outgoing calls work fine if I don't mind typeing them uing the dashboards keypad... but that defeats the purpose of the "hands free" profile.
With the good ole 6.0 factory rom and radio I'm able to use my steering wheel control buttons to scroll thru my address book, place/receive calls, adjust volume, speak thru the built in mic on the rearview mirror, and listen using the stereo system. Its one of my favorite features on the car and sucks that MERCEDES has not updated their firmware to handle 6.1 bluetooth profiles.
So I've once again, for the 3rd time, rolled back to vzw's original 6.0 ROM, RADIO and SPL (and pri too). I think I'll try some custom windows 6.0 ROMs sometime later but what I've got now works good for me (no GPS but I don't need it I guess)
THanks,
Ben

No GSM showing means that something went wrong with the radio rom upgrade.
I suggest that you try to downgrade to the official rom for your device. Then you can upgrade to whatever version of OS you want, but make sure that the rom does not contain radio upgrade.
The Issue "No GSM" is because of bad sodering contacts between the QC and Samsung flash or the Samsung CPU and the contiguous flash (samsung) and it resuts all the strange behaviours of this HTC model. Anyway for me it's another proof of samsung quality
Low emission soldering + thin ICs (big foolish sandwich FLASH/CPU) + over located Keyboard = possible cold/bad contact soldering problem.
The proof is the many "NoGSM" issues got without any trying ROM update, or the too many 2XX errors during upgrade.
Do you have a problem with the radio not working?(not able to receive signal, make/receive calls/text?) Cause i had the same problem. Anyways, the way i fixed it is by dissasembling the 8525, and reassembling it back together. Then i flashed the official wm6 rom with 1.48 radio, and it works fully now.
I heard that no gsm can occur with a failed radio flash, which i think is unrepairable, except by replacing the motherboard. If it wasnt a failed radio flash, then i think theres several methods to remedy it. Just try all the methods including mines. Hope you get it to work, theres been too many "no gsm" errors lately. Whoever designed the 8525 should be shot for making such a weak phone.

Phone Function Issue

Hello
I noticed a very annoying bug at my phone: sometimes when I end a call the phone function stalls (the icon on the upper bar shows conversation in progress)
The only way to use the phone function again is to soft reset it. Lately I get the same problem but without the icon that shows conversation in progress. During this time all the incoming calls are not prompted. Basically on the caller side my phone "rings" but my phone doesn't even notice the incoming call. This prevents me from receiving very important calls that affect my business.
I cannot upgrade my ROM (1.14.479.3 ) since there is no official version for my region.
Any of you have this problem ? Shall I bring it to service ?
Please tell me your thoughts
SR
seems like a software issue, which region is your phone in? have you tried updating your software through HTC website?
For Romania there is no official version released. I cant upgrade ROM/Radio without losing my warranty.
i had the same problem after installed a hot fix from HTC, even hard reset and reinstall the ICR program the phone just lockup when I made a call. I can talk in that call but the whole phone just won't response to any keys or touch screen. After 2 days playing around with countless hard reset I decided to flash the same ROM from computer and the problem seems gone now.

Sure you can You are currently using a WWE ROM right? You can use USPL or HSPL to flash a newer official WWE ROM. In the event you need to return the phone just flash the original ROM (and SPL) back to your phone and they will never know. The original ROM you are running now is available on the Wiki, and here is a direct link. If you need help flashing ROM's you can read the guide in my signature and post questions in that thread
On a side note- I have had that issue before as well. It does seem like a bug in some software on the ROM as flashing different ROM's seems to make it go away (or reappear )
My phone's screen stopped responding few weeks ago and I brought it to service. They changed its front side with a brand new one (I am not sure if the screen only because I even get better audio quality during calls). I am telling you this just to underline that when I took it back from service the ROM was flashed again (same version though) because the menus used to be in English and now they are in Romanian. So if I am not mistaking my hard resets + services ROM flashing (into the same version though ) didn't fix this issue.
@Digital Outcast:
I am aware that I am able to use a newer ROM. I read the wiki and I know how to do it but if for some reason what I mentioned above (screen completely stopped responding and it was changed) happens while the new ROM is on the phone I will lose my warranty.
Since I opened this issue I changed the sim with a newer one. The old one was 7 years old...
Thank you for your feedback and for letting me know I am not the only phone owner having this annoying bug.
As stated by Tnyynt on another thread
Official updates go by as original ROM, they install without HardSPL if there is an update for your version of the device, so if you have an Official ROM which you have flashed, there's no need to worry for warranty.

Basically, any of the official rom updates for your device available on HTC or wiki can be flashed to your phone without HSPL or USPL and will not void warranty.
I tried with this one but when I insert my serial it says its not available for my region.
http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=179&act=sd&cat=2
Still I managed to download it using some serial I found on the web. But when I started the flashing process it says its not meant for my phone and aborted
Is your phone branded? Did you get it new? I ask because it doesn't look like it was a WWE device...
I bought it brand new from an online store. I didn't buy it from a provider like Vodafone or Orange.
One of my colleagues bought it from Vodafone few days ago and he has exactly the same ROM version as I have. None of us is able to download the previously mentioned ROM version from HTC website using the imei.
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.14.479.3_Radio _52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship is the ROM you currently have on your phone. There are no "official" updates for your particular CID.
Your real only current choice if you want to flash a newer HTC ROM would be to use USPL or HSPL and flash another official WWE ROM. You could always flash back the original if you needed to return the phone for warranty purposes. Sorry bud.
Thanks for summing it up for me.
PS: changing the sim with a newer one did not help, in case somone wants to do this.

No HD2 Rom Upgrade With T-mobile

Hi,
I have just bought a HTC HD2 from T-mobile to realise I can't upgrade the ROM through the official HTC website.
I would like to know from Virgin Costumers whether they have tried to upgrade the ROM of their HTC HD2 through the Official HTC website and whether it worked.
I am asking this because I am still on the trial period and also because of warranty issues if I try to upgrade trough another route apart from the T-mobile's...
So, the question is...
Have you got a HTC HD2 from virgin? Have you upgrade the ROM through the HTC website?
If it's vendor locked you'll need to flash HSPL to install a stock or custom ROM...see this thread for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
If I do install another ROM they say I loose the warranty...
As I still am in the trial period I could just return the mobile. But for this I need to know whether the HTC HD2 from virging is also branded or not... So I can go and get one from them and do the upgrades myself through HTC website... Withought loosing any warranty.
You can revert back to the original SPL/ROM if you need to return it for any reason...
As for the Virgin HD2, only way is putting the S/N into the ROM download page on HTCs support site and see if it allows a download. If not, it's locked
There's at least a dozen of threads about it. Don't be lazy and use search!
You won't loose the warranty, you can flash the phone back to it's original state in case you need to send it back for repairs.
You can download the original T-Mobile ROM from in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577717 so you can always go back if you need warranty work! I was reluctant to flash, but I did it from the original T-Mobile ROM and it has transfromed my HD2... I'm using MIRI 6.5 ROM and it is awesome, fast, stable, more RAM (with the right radio) and best of all, Youtube... GO ahead and do it. You think the HD2 is good now, wait until you unleash some of it's real potential....
Yes, that is why I am asking if there is someone who is a virgin costumer to help me with this...
I need to know if they have tried and what the outcome was.
About the warranty... The problem is that if I upgrade to another ROM and the mobile has a hardware fault that doesn't allow me to downgrade to the original ROM I suppose I would loose the warranty. This is a risk I may not want to take...
I have been talking to the tmobile technical people a lot after I realised I couldn't upgrade to a new ROM via HTC... Very annoying to know it is not possible whatsoever.
and as proof, I flashed mine back to the original ROM earlier this week. Search the ROM forum for posts by a member called 'football' who posted links to the TMo UK ROMs.
The flash back to the original ROM worked just fine, BUT it's a rubbish ROM so I'm back on 1.66
lol @ everyone pushing for the HSPL option, , , , lets not forget you cant uninstal HSPL if, for instance, the sd card reader has failed, , how would you get that fixed on warranty??
I'm not knocking it, HSPL is the first thing i did, just pointing out that restoring the warranty isn't foolproof.
in this post here a virgin user claims the phone is unlocked to the HTC website.

Just want to know, from a Virgin customer, if they have managed to install the ROM update through the HTC website... if when they add their mobile serial number they are given the download option or they are barred with this message: "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
Thanks guys for the help
My son is on Virgin and his is unlocked out of the box I'am on T-Mobile (locked ) ) I am still deciding whether to update to one of the new roms on xda del. or hang out for an official rom from T-Mobile. Which I believe will be released soon with a big?????.

lol @ everyone pushing for the HSPL option, , , , lets not forget you cant uninstal HSPL if, for instance, the sd card reader has failed, , how would you get that fixed on warranty??
I'm not knocking it, HSPL is the first thing i did, just pointing out that restoring the warranty isn't foolproof.

I had a flash fail this week. When I started the phone it booted to a black screen with some sort of warning triangle. Somehow HSPL had been removed in the botched flash and the SPL was back to 1.42.000, so putting a LEOIMG.nbh on my SD card just resulted in a 'Not Allowed' message being displayed.
However, I was still able to reflash the original TMo ROM from my PC via USB using the exe that you can find on the ROM forum. I would expect that this will only work with the exe for a ROM issued by your network though, so make sure you have that saved before you flash anything.

No doubt you flashed an official rom from the sd card, that is the only way HSPL can be removed. I really really advise people against using sd card for anything except your phones original rom. So easy to make an error.
Virgin UK HD2 is unlocked
I am a Virgin UK customer and my HD2 is indeed unlocked. When I first boot I had to select Virgin Mobile from a long list that included all the major carriers. I have no problems in updating ROMS. Their customer support is without doubt the best I have ever experienced. I do not work for them. My brother is with T-Mobile, his phone is locked down with Crap software. I am SOOOO glad I am not with them. Just check their forums. They are still on ROM 1.43 from october... no YouTube... other stuff missing and buggy... Disgrace.
Original poster: if you want the phone on contract from T-Mobile but unbranded, you could buy it through some third-party mobile-phone store chain like Car Phone Warehouse or Mobile Phones Direct. Their phones are all unbranded.
If you want to install the HTC ROM without using HSPL you could always use a gold card to flash it.

I must agree with the above. I am with T-Mobile, got my HD2 at the end of January and it had ROM 1.43. They also stripped out YouTube and Co-Pilot! I downloaded a poor-man's version of YouTube as discussed in other threads (i.e. using the IE browser on the phone to download the cab file) and thought I was cool, but with T-Mobile taking an age to release the update ROM (I have heard March, but I wouldn't hold my breath!) I decided to use HSPL and update to 1.66 from the HTC website. Best decision I made!
Not only are all the little bugs fixed, I know have the 'proper' YouTube app back (beautiful!), Co-Pilot (trial version) plus a Windows Task Manager app (very useful!).
I did alot of reading before taking the plunge though, and made backups of backups, had a roll-back plan (admittedly untested) and followed each stage implicitly! But it was very striaghtforward due to the guys on this forum doing a fantastic job!
I never made one call on my T-Mobile HD2 before I flashed over to stock HTC ROM.
Years of HTC devices and operators ROMS told me not to wait until later!

I did exactly the same!
As soon as I turned it on and saw that horrid T-Mobile logo, I turned it off again and flashed it with the HTC WWE Rom
