Very URGENT! Info ROM 2002-2003 upgrade!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I’ve downloaded:
Version 4.20.0 (Build 13252)
RSU 6.24.01
From the ftp server
Can I upgrade my XDA I PPC2002 with this new rom?
Any problems reported with NOT T-Mobile carriers?
Stability problems reported?
News about O2 PPC 2003 update??
Thanks in advance for replying
Bye

Do you mean you downloaded 4.00.21 Tmobile. I am not aware of any ROM higher than 4.01.00 Tmobile. As long as you back up your device and DO NOT use an .exe to upgrade, you should be fine to experiment.

i'd like to know WHERE u got that 'long awaited' upgrade??

O2 latest Official Rom upgrade RUU 3.20.06

Has anyone already used the O2 latest Official Rom upgrade
Pocket PC 2002 RUU 3.20.06 from http://www.yorch.net/?
I'm still using 3.17.03 ENG, with pocket PC 2002.... but would like to know if its better than the one i'm using.
Had a bad time long time ago when upgrading to 2003, with all the free SD erasures...
I'm living in the Netherlands... and Dutch O2 software is not longer supported here.
Hope someone has good news for me.

Flashing Radio Version

Having problems with Radio Version 4.21 from England, ie the phone will not work (I am in Australia). The phone was working OK until I performed the upgrade
It has been suggested that I install Radio Version 6.12 from T-mobile and I have downloaded the file from Yorch, this comes up as an nbf file and I wonder if I should flash it as I can not find RSUupgrade.exe. Any suggestions ?
Chris
You downloaded the wrong file go back to Yorch's site and look under Upgrades and download "USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial)
RU 6.24.00".

dont Australia use 900/1800 like europe ?
if that is the case the us RSU would ruin the phone even more

Radio Stack for Australia

Hello Qman,
Thank you for your reply! But great news here as I have managed to get my RSU version to work in Australia.
My carrier is Optus and SIM card is fine.
Basically by trying most RSU versions I wasn’t able to get the phone to work. Funny thing is I tried the RSU version for the O2, which is supporting here in Australia but to no avail! I ended up using the new T- Mobile for the US and works like a dream have fully signal as well.
New version is RSU 6.24.
Cheers Erebus,

Further to my problems I upgraded to the T-mobile 2003 ROM an their latest Radio stack 6.24 and all is working OK.
I had sent the XDA to Melbourne (Australia) to the accredited Service company (Accord) and they had sent it back saying that it was buggered. I had some very helpful advice from Peter and Joe and have everything working fine. Curiously, when I had XDA 1.2 and the T-mobile Radiostack the phone kept crashing after reboot. Since upgrading to T-Mobile 4.00.21 ENG and Radio version 6.24.00 all works well.
I did try to download some Medical software (MIMS) and thisd has proven to be a bit of a problem. The tech dude at MIMS was not too impressed with Pocket-PC 2003

Great, glad to hear it all worked out ok! 8)
Seems R 6.24 works in many wheres ... I put it on a friend's XDA and it works now (Egypt 900/1800) ... just wonder if it's wise to go for ROM 4.00.21 or keep the 4.00.11 .... I heared that you can't change the ROM after T-mobile ROMs ... is that true ?

Thats great news on RS 6.24, thanks for the tip!
As far as not being able to change ROM's after upgrading to a T-Mobile WM2003 ROM, it will still work but you must use the SD card boot loader upgrade method.

Help needed, this morning I flash my XDA with USA T-mobile Latest Radio Stack (Unofficial) but not working for my GSM 900. So I flash it back to O2 Latest Official Radio Stack RU 4.21 but it flash until 83% stop forever. So i do a soft rest. Then my XDA can't boot. Can someone help me out on this method? I'm in Malaysia. Using 900/1800 bandwidth.
Hi ...
If you have taken SD backup before upgrading, then go for bootloader menu, press Calendar button, and turn off the Radio part. Try to flash your XDA back to the original ROM and RSU, and then perform a hard reset.
In case you didn't, try the Qtek offical RSU 3.25 from http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific. It works good for Asian operators.
Good luck
Problem FIXED... Thanks for the big help.

Upgrade Advice

Hi, Could I solicit some advice please?
I have an:
O2 32mb XDA I
with 3.17.03 ENG ROM
4.21.00 Stack.
What Rom & Stack should/could I upgrade to? Can I get one with WM2003 (even with 32MB)? I’m not a total pioneer and would like stability. Also where can I get the ROMs from? I have backed up 3.17.03 using XDA tools and I’m ready to have a go…
P.S. my phone is patched for sim free operation as I use it with a Virgin pay as you go sim (T-Mobile UK)
Regards
Harry.
Harry,
No problem.
Use one of the rom kitchens, e.g. http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
WM2003 works better on the XDA1 than the default PPC2002, even on 32 RAM.
There are also some nice features in 2003, like separate phone and pc volume controls, a mute button for the phone, etc.
Regards
Brendan

Thanks Brendan i will give it a go, what Rev of 2003 are you running ?
Hi
I have a XDA I (with 64MB RAM) and I upgraded from the same kitchen above to Ver 4.01.16 ENG(lish) and it had been running stable on it since.
Seems to be a good and solid version altough it does have some uneeded (at least for me) T-Mobile additions.
Good luck!
Regards,
Gilad.

Need help finding 2003 update for TMobile Siemens Pocket PC

I cannot find the T-Mobile Pocket PC 2003 Windows update ANYWHERE! T-Mobile had it for a while, but discontinued it, so no one can get the new upgrades anymore. Does anyone know how I can get the 2003 software upgrade? I've been to Siemens and cannot find the model, SX56, on any of their downloads. I've been to Windows & they say that you can't get it from them, that you have to get it from your service provider. AUGH!!! I just want ot update my phone. Can anyone help me?
:?:
The Siemens site is posted in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=5623&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
But it loks like they have removed the link to download it.
You can get a WM2003 Version at
http://xda.weblink.net
or
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org

Neither of those links worked for me. I'm trying to upgrade from ROM version 3.14.40 ENG, radio version 6.18. I don't speak the language on those web sites, but the one that had some English didn't have an upgrade from this ROM version. Can anyone else help me?

Upgrading 101 ...

Hello there!
I need help understanding how upgrading works from ppc2002 to wm2k3. Is RUU and RSU related? I mean when you upgrade your RUU, do you automatically upgrade your RSU? Also, I have a Siemens SX56, but for some reason, Siemens is not giving the upgrade anymore. Is there any other place I can get that upgrade, or I can use any other phone upgrade? Also, this Kitchen Rom thing'e has been making me curious. Just wanna know what that is? If you guys can answer these questions for me, I will be very appreciated by me and by others who read this thread
RUU and RSU can be upgrade through one exe file from the operators but it's NOT recommended to touch the RSU as long as it's working.
You can cook your own ROM here http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Got It!
Thanx for your help! Really Appreciate it! I have cooked my SX-56 with A.30.09 ENG. It works perfect with no errors and no memory leaks. I'm Lovin' It! I like the newer version!
-Tariq
congratulations!! ... when you don't like the sound bug in A30.09 .. try 4.01.16
Actually the Tmobile 4.01.16 rom came out to be better than the AT&T A30.09 rom. I actually have a Siemens SX56 that AT&T sells but my service is from T-Mobile. Before what ever Rom I had, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger never worked with my T-Mobile Wap Service. But after installing the T-Mobile rom, both the internet explorer and msn messenger are working. The speed is kind of slow but they work.
