O2 Payandgo GPRS settings - Networking

Hi guys.
Despite checking this forum and the O2 site I cannot get my XDA to browse the web. It connects to GPRS but when I select a site like news from the o2 front page it just seems to carry on looking for it forever.
I am sur it must be the payandgo settings. but I cannot find any specific onfo on O2 UK payandgo settiings for the XDA.
Any ideas?

Orange UK EZWAP and XDA

I've had my XDA on Orange UK GPRS for ages but have never been able to browse to any WAP pages despite having entered the Orange WAP for GRPS settings.
I guess I got something screwed but even using EZWAP 2.1 I cant get to any WAP sites. I am about to try EZWAP 2.5.
Anyone out there got it all working properly?
If so what are ALL the settings please?
I had the same problem, but managed to get it working.
Here are the settings i use :-
Connection name- Orange WAP
Modem- Cellular Line GPRS
Baud rate- 19200
APN- orangewap
In the advanced settings leave everthing blank
Now in EZWAP 2.5
Tools/options/general
Connection- Orange WAP
Home page- http://orange.multimedia
Tools/options/connection
Select Gateway
Address 192.168.071.035
Port 9201
Uncheck connectionless and WTLS
Leave the timeouts as they are.
I'm on pay monthly, but i think all the settings are the same for pay as you use, except the APN which is paygwap
Hope that helps

Orange WAP UK on the XDA
Gotta say, after all the bum stleers I have had from Orange, O2 and other XDA forums and feedback generally, it was a pleasure to receive straight forward no-nonsense information that actually worked!!
I entered everything just as you recommended and launched EZWAP.
Up popped my Orange WAP homepage.
However I tried to navigate away and then navigate back and it's come back with The page cannot be found.. blah blah... check browser settings etc.
Gonna play for a bit longer... any further assistance would be useful.
Thanks

WAP Broswer

I know PPC2003 IE support WAP.
But my phone provider Ireland Vodafone has a WAP system called Vodafone live!
I cannot configure IE to use this as it has it's own GPRS and GSM connection profile and Access Point and Proxy. So I want to get a WAP Browser for the XDAII that I can configure to use the WAP settings from Vodafone and the IE can be left for ISP settings and general browsing.
Anyone any suggestions?
Try NetFront browser
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...yWords=netfront&catalog=30&txtSearch=netfront
I use the O2active portal and that is something similar to Vodafone Live.
I do have german OS, so my tranlations might not be totally correct.
goto settings -> connections -> connections -> company networks (in german Firmennetzwerke) the last entry.
Here you find the WAP network.
Under "Modem" you can set up the acces point, under proxysettings the proxy, just get your vodfone live stuff from their website or extract it from a mobile. This sould work.
No need for extra cash ;-)
Alex
I am with Vodafone.
I got the XDAII as a Sim Free Phone from O2.
I have removed the extended ROM stuff and set it up for Vodafone.
I have everything working, GPRS & CSD Internet Access. E-Mail, MMS all with Vodafone.
I have setup the connection for the WAP ie. Vodafone live!
All I can enter is the APN "live.vodafone.com" and username and password. BUT I still need to enter the gateway address ie. 10.24.59.100 and the homepage " http://live.vodafone.com".
So where do I enter the gateway if I want to use IE for the WAP browser, and I assume the homepage is not a Proxy address, it's what I enter into the IE address bar to get the wap site???
Anyone,
Thanks again for the info.
under "again-the-stuff-before" where is written proxy-settings, check "use a proxy" (again, mine is german)
under extended you can set the ip address for WAP and WAP secure.
The start-homepage you simple set under IE (just as you would it in Windows)
good luck
This is not a problem due to connexion, GPRS, GSM wap or anything.
for vodafone live, as for Orange world and others, the do watch for the user agent of your device to select the type of page to display.
Every operator has a pool of mobile devices and unfortunately i guss the XDA2 does not belong to this pool.
Here in france it had just been added a couples of days ago because they are now selling it as SPV1000 on the orangeworld contract.
So even if you use a wap browser like ezwap or another, the problem will still remain, the user agent of your devices will not be recognize by the vodafone live wap proxy.
in germany they start selling the XDA2/MDA2 also now from vodafone...
anyway... if you ever had a customized vodafone-firmware on your phone you'll hate vodefone for ever ;-)
Maybe try to begin the URL with wsp:// instead of http:// ...
AT&T WAP Settings in US?
Can anyone tell me how to set up my XDA II WAP for AT&T in the US?

Vodafone VPA Compact

VPA Compact is out in the uk on Vodafone now! It's been a long wait. Now i can try the new shape out and retire my jam
but isn't the jam and the vpa compact the same model but from different carriers/distributors
As a vodafone user I'd love to use the vodafone firmware.....is it possible for anyone to extract it?

Yeah they are.But my jams started playing up and i thought i was going to have to splash out alot of money again for a new one. Then vodafone called me and told me i could upgrade my phone.A previous woman had told me i could have the qtek 9090.I'm not too keen on the size though, then another guy told me the vpa was out now and it cost me nothing! It's the same as the jam although the housing has go more thought into the layout and it just looks a bit better overall.A kind of facelift!

So, Now you´ve got your device...
But where is the dump/backup of your ROM?
Any news about this?
Stefan
Got to say Jay you're lucky that Vodafone UK phone you with upgrades. I have to keep hounding them and when I do get through its to some idiot who is usually less competant than the last (hard to believe).
May do the same as you,

It's definately worth it,even though you have to speak to loads of boneheads at vodafone that don't even know what it is and keep telling you they don't have that phone and they've never heard of it.I called up the day i could upgrade and luckily got to speak to someone with a bit of knowledge.Ordered it thursday afternoon and arrived friday morning!Defintely worth it,much better build than the magician!

Have you been able to successfully surf the internet?
I have got an I-mate on VF UK contract and have run the automatic VF UK contract config setup and can successfully connect using the VF WAP Connection and VF MMS connection, but if I try the VF Internet GPRS connection, I get every time the error message 'The answering modem has disconnected'. Sad
Do you have the same experience or does it work for you?
I can only load wap pages using the WAP connection and can send mms, but can't view any html sites.
Cheers,
Antoine
My web works fine.It was all set up out the box.Everything seems to work mms web etc.The settins are different to what i had on my jam when i had to use the cab files from imate. This time in connections there is a contract internet setting already setup and should work from the off.Have you not got this?
Hmm... I am really miffed to be honest. Out of the box (i-mate) I had three configs:
Connections: Vodafone MMS and Vodafone WAP:
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Username: wap
Password: wap
WAP proxy: 212.183.137.12:9201
(I have tried entering the same proxy for html, but that didn't solve the problem either)
Connection: Vodafone Internet:
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
APN: internet
Username: web
Password: web
I can connect using the WAP and MMS one, but any html page times out. I can read specific wap sites though, like for example the wap edition of BBC mobile.
The Vodafone Internet connection is the one that doesn't work. But maybe I have the incorrect settings? What settings do you have?
I am running ROM: 1.12.00 WWE, Radio: 1.12.10, Protocol: 1337.42, ExtROM: 1.12.131 WWE.
Cheers
They are the settings i had on my jam too.3 different connections. But on the compacy there is only one called contract connection and it doesn't let you edit it like the others so i can't see the details.Have you downloaded the cab off the i mate website with uk contract vodafone settings in it?
They were already installed. But reapplied them anyway and still no luck. It is consistent... that's the only positive.
Is the voice quality any better than the jam

Toine,
You have everything right apart from the email/internet GPRS settings.
I use two connections (always have) on my QTEK S100 for Vodafone UK. You need 1 to access MMS and another to send/receive email and browse the internet.
In SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS/CONNECTIONS
1. You should have "Vodafone Internet:" connection defined as is above
2. Under "My Work network" you should "Add a new modem connection" with the settings you have in "Vodafone MMS and Vodafone WAP:" except there is no username/password (you have wap defined).
In MESSAGING/TOOLS/MMS SETTINGS
1. Set "Connect via" to "My work network".
2. Make sure you have your server defined with the settings you have in the next tab. This should be (in case you don't have it):
Server name: Vf UK MMS (for example)
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
port number: 9201
Server address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
This set-up should now tell the imate to connect to email and the internet with the "APN: internet" connection and connect for MMS to "Vf UK MMS"
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any problems,
Martyn
jaythemagician: can you give us yr VPA ROM, Radio and Protocol version (as in SETTINGS|Device Information) ?

Setting up a jasjar for the internet with o2

Apologys if this is a repeat post but i need help.
I have just received my shiny new jasjar phone after upgrading from an m1000 spv.
I cannot get on the internet with it though using gprs. What are the setting that i need to change? What are the settings required for mms?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Hi TimeCreature.
As you've bought a JasJar, you need only register your JasJar @ clubi-mate.com, which will give you access to all their on-line help. There you will find a section for all the network providers settings for pay-as-you-go or contract. They will be in .cab format after you dowload. Copy it to your SD card and install to your device from there. That's it.
Firstly, o2 will not support GPRS usage on Pay and Go. If you're wanting to use 3G, then you'll need a new SIM. Freestyling with settings here;
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: o2web
password: password
Any more problems, let me know.
Registerd your deive with i-mate after that download settings from there website.

Is XDA Exec WAP compatible? Belgian Mobistar Orange works?

Hello,
Im using Mobistar services in Belgium they have Orange World WAP services over GPRS connection and recently they are providing also Live TV. Does anybody know how to configure WAP services on XDA Exec? I called several time Mobistar and they dont know setup of this GSM and said its not compatible. Can anyone tell me if its really the case? Either XDA Exec is not WAP compatible or Mobistar itself.
Currently I tried APN: mworld.be with mobistar as User name & password. About their IP for WAP Gateway is 212.065.063.143, if I put that IP in connection then no connection establish then I dont know where to put this WAP gateway IP? I also try to use winamp WAP browser and it has WAP gateway settings but if I put info then no response from server at all.
Can anyone please explain if XDA Exec is really a WAP supporting GSM? and if so what are the key settings I must do on it? anyhelp is highly appreciateable. Thanks in advance!
I don't use wap but the XDA Exec is WAP compatible.
Try to search the wm2005 help files on your device. It gives an explanation on how to setup a wap connection.
This site gives some mobistar info.
http://www4.mobistar.be/nl/bus/clientzone/support/faq/index.html#2
Hope it helps.
Thanks YEN, actually this is enough for me to know that XDA Exec is WAP compatible but the worst how easy for Mobistar to say that my gsm is not compatible instead of learning setup of XDA Exec. Currently I can connect to APN: mworld.be and it shows successful connection but then no data is coming or going, so testing browser on such condition is impossible. If anyone else can suggest some settings or browser to be installed ? always welcome!
