Problem updating ROMs - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

:? I am having a problem updating my Tmobile PPCE rom. The ROMs I cook up are unable to update my phone. I keep getting a message that the connection has been forced closed. This despite the fact that I am connected using AS3.71 at the time I run the update and am still connected after I run the update. I am not on a hub and have tried this on 2 different computers with 2 different ROMs. The phone is running an earlier version of WM2003 with the 6.24 stack.

Load 1.1 or AT&T from Autorun???

I have made strides today, I can now connect via activesync and browse my device, however when I get to bootloader, I still get GSM Fails...
I came across some documentation that talks about autorunning to load the radio stack, but it looks like those are german/non-usa radio stacks and they don't seem to work for me...
My device is functional (albeit running really slow) as a pda, but the phone portion is still completely hosed...
Can anybody recommend some next steps??? I have tried to download the CE from another machine and that doesn't work and of course the XDARite still doesn't work for me (if I knew I could just get somebody to xdarite to my card, I would do that, but I am not convinced that will fix my problems)...
Any comments???

Your GSM is toasted
Dear Tod,
I'm afraid your GSM is toasted. Did you try using the repair.zip procedures in this forum. The other thing I'm afraid is that you are not able to find any US Radio stack from T-Mobile on the internet. You must have the correct RSU...CAB files of the old version before you upgrade than maybe you are be able to repair your GSM Error...
I tried the repair....
but the load fails and I presume that is due to a non-us or a non-tmobile rsu cab is being used....
Anybody else think of anything...
Todd
If you're on T-Mobile's network, since now you can ActiveSync, you may want to load T-Mobile's upgrade, (from their web) and run the whole thing through. That should upgrade your radio stack back to a GSM1900 version, and downgrade your ROM to the old version. If that doesn't work, your GSM hardware could be toast. After that, you can try xda developers' 1.1 ROM again.
Good Luck

I REALLY GOT PROBLEM AFTER UPGRADE

I made several upgrades with ROM 4.00.05 ENG ppc2003 from cook machine... with no problems.
after that i decided to try 4.00.16 ENG T-Mobile US. It loads without any problems and the problem starts now. I got strange error when I try to upgrade now (it is on console before Program A starts):
connection disconnected by peer ..
HELP !!! can I do anything ??
seems you didn't invest enough time to read through this forum before starting doing upgrades, coz if you did you should have found that T-mobile ROMs can't be changed by a USB flashing. your only option now is SD card method.
next time if you want to continue playing with different ROMs try to stick to 4.00.05 or 4.00.11
You can upgrade ROM 4.01.00. This version newer than 4.00.16

upgrading sx56 went wrong

Well this is the first time I've been unlucky for once. I've just finished cooking up some Rom for my ATT Siemens SX56. I was using the WM2003SE upgrading from PPC2002. I have a feeling that I did something wrong here and I'm guessing that I can't upgrade from PPC2002 and only WM2003? Well I'm not quite sure since I'm new to this. I successfully always upgraded the rom until now. After powering up, it started hanging at the startup logo with the version of the radio stack I think.
G1.3.3
UA.33
3.04
I've tried using ActiveSync and of course it didn't work. The cradle or A.S. did not recognize the device. Tried using XDATool, none. Is there anyway I could go around the ActiveSync?
Use sd card method for flashing.
tried that and it didn't work. I tried almost any methods out there. I tired upgrading from the original ATT Rom PPC2002 to the Special Edition 1.2 Rom and it still didnt work. What's odd is... I can't get my WM2003 to work anymore! When I first started upgrading the rom, I upgraded using SE 1.2, then downgrade to the original ATT rom back to the WM2003 which actually worked fine until I got piss at the radio stack and downgrade back to the PPC2002 but once I tried upgrading to WM2003SE, it didnt work at all which brought me to downgrade back to PPC2002 again and tried upgrading to WM2003 (ATT Version) which still didn't worked. I've tried upgrading the radio stack 6.24 and 6.25 and radio stack that would be compatible for the SX56 still didnt work. Even downgrading my bootloader from 5.22 to 5.15, it still didn't work. It's really odd... Can ANYONE help me?
I have similar problem, I have Qtek 1010 and I can put original rom on only (2002). I have had 2003 on there before and it worked fine but I have tried everything and nothing seems to work, all the 2003 and 2003se rom will not go past the boot screen.
Is your phone working at all.
My phone is perfectly fine, I'm just trying anyway to resolve that booting problem and so far, I'm getting no good results out of it... This is totally driving me nuts!
I tried neally every rom and I can't get any to work on my Qtek except the original 2002 Carrier device Rom...... I don't understand why we could both upgrade before with no worries and now it just will not work....
PLEASE HELP SOMEONE.....
THANKS
Well, so far I tried another rom, an older one and I still didn't get it to work... SD Flashing... The normal method with ActiveSys, it still didn't work. There has to be a reason to why this isn't working. Does ANYONE out there know whats going on here?!

Do I have a corrupt radio or bad flash?

I have been running a version of pays build since last feb.
lately a few things stated to get buggy, alarms, notifications and internet connection stability.
It would attempt to connect id see the 3G turn to an H for a few sec and it would go away and never show up again until I did a reset.
I dealt with everything until the internet connection became too unstable.
At 1st I just needed to rest the phone once in a while, to a few times, and then the last draw was when it took over 15 resets to get it to connect to internet.
I have reflashed my phone and the internet connection seems to be doing the same thing again.
So this has me thinking it’s physically a bad radio or the software for the radio is corrupt. Since flashing the phone to most new roms does not change the radio.
My phone is a herm200
The radio I have been using for ever that worked for me is 1.48.00.10
my phone is running PDACornerPro.V27
I have the proxy disabled
Do you flash a stock rom 1st then the other roms, especially BS roms as this may help the unstable issues.
I would suggest doing some research on what radio rom works well in your area as you may need to upgrade BUT I wouldn't start flashing radios to test as they are the cause of most permanent bricks if things go wrong. If you do need to flash a new radio I'd suggest the sd card method, I'm assuming you have Hard SPL V7 installed, and make sure you use a 2Gb or less card formatted FAT32.
I would also suggest doing a check for bad blocks before flashing the radio as it may be that too.
Radio rom flashing is REALLY the last thing you do....
Hope this helps,
Cheers...

Click to collapse
so i should flash the official HTC rom or a lite rom with nothing added and then the cooked rom?
bad blocks? how do check for those.
thanks
Do a search for bad blocks 1st, connect to mtty and type in info 8. if you have bad blocks type task 2a.
There may be "bad blocks" as the carrier sometimes brand the phones. These can't be fixed.
Find a Stock rom, most people use AT&T, either find the version that has had the radio removed or remove it yourself with a little surgery using a program called ROM Koch. It allows you to break the ROM into .nb files eg. os.nb, radio.nb...
This means you can then put the ROM back the way you like... I'd suggest to put back everything but the radio and keep the cooked "stock" rom. It is still a stock rom but you don't have the inconvenience, or potential bricking, of your Hermes to worry about. Then install the Rom of your choice...
Don't use a lite rom as they have been cooked and altered.
Cheers...
so far no luck.
i still get spotty connections. if it connects i am good for a while if not i have to reset the phone and hope for the best. it could take many resets.
1st i flashed this
official_AT&T_WM6_striped
then i flashed this
V15_M2D_Plain_3G
I updated the radio
from
HERM_Radinly_1.48.00.10
to
HERM_Radinly_1.56.70.11
I uese this to configure my wap settings
cingular_wap.wpbear_Proxy_Folders.cab
I even swaped my girlfriends sim with my sim to see if it was an accout
or sim problem.
the problem still stays with my phone.
Now i am thinking this could be a hardware problem.
can a 3rd party battery cause odd side effects like this.
Thank you for your help ultramag69.
Alot of your tips helped me get a stable rom flashed to my cell.
I the end i think the cab file i used to configure my att internet setting caused the network problems.
I now manualy configured it and have had a perfect run so far.
i also reflashed every thing starting with a att rom.
I looked at the media net and mms setting and used those after i flashed
V15_M2D_Plain_3G.
setting on the att rom
TCP/IP and Servers
select-> Use server-assigned IP address
setting used on config cab. I think using the ip address caused me the problems.
server ip
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Update phone is acting twitchy again with its internet connection.
Everything is the same as above.
The phone worked great this weekend and now it has yet to keep a stable internet connection.
Now I am really thinking it hardware problem.
Something gets loose or loses tolerance maybe heat or some thing like that causes the module that controls the network connection to fail.
Anyone have any guesses or tests?
Maybe att is messing with my device...

Phone will not connect to network

Hello All,
I upgraded my EXEC to WM6 with the ROM of lucathebig. I did not upgrade the radio rom.
I don't know how it happened but, every time I switch it on, even without the sim card in, I can't access the phone settings! Or even the dialpad for that matter.
When I click on the signal icon, the balloon comes on but says "The phone is off"
When I tap settings nothing happens.
Please note that it was working a couple of days ago. I reset it to factory defaults but nothing happened.
Has anyone else got any suggestions? I will try to avoid flashing the ROM again and I'll keep it as the last option.
Update:
I noticed that there's no Radio version or IMEI on the system information on my phone so I figured that the radio got corrupted or something like that.
I tried to flash the Radio but i get the 114 error from the upgrade tool.
I tried all sorts of different upgrade tools with different radio version but none of it worked...
I am now downloading the official O2 update Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188.exe and try to install this instead to see if it fixes the Radio.
Has anyone found a solution for the 114 error? I have read tens of posts but can't seem to fins anything that helps. The people who solve it, use different versions of the update tools or they remove the USB hubs or try the upgrade 3 times.
Help ..?
I tried O2 update but the upgrade executable gave me a country ID error.
So I took the WM ROM and the Radio Rom from the zip file and tried to upgrade both but on the the WM ROM was updated. The Radio rom still gives me an error when I try to Flash...
Ohhhh this is so dissapointing.....
