I made several upgrades with ROM 4.00.05 ENG ppc2003 from cook machine... with no problems.
after that i decided to try 4.00.16 ENG T-Mobile US. It loads without any problems and the problem starts now. I got strange error when I try to upgrade now (it is on console before Program A starts):
connection disconnected by peer ..
HELP !!! can I do anything ??
seems you didn't invest enough time to read through this forum before starting doing upgrades, coz if you did you should have found that T-mobile ROMs can't be changed by a USB flashing. your only option now is SD card method.
next time if you want to continue playing with different ROMs try to stick to 4.00.05 or 4.00.11
You can upgrade ROM 4.01.00. This version newer than 4.00.16

I've had WM2003 installed for over 2 months now without any real problems. Recently, I noticed that the qtek is completely switching off by itself every few days. When power button is pressed, the device reboots and is back to normal for another few days. The battery is always charged, so that is not the problem.
I'm running:
ROM: 4.00.01 ENG
Date: 05/16/03
Radio: 4.21.00
Protocol: 32S54
Any suggestions? Can I upgrade? If so, how?
Thank you

I have a QTEK 1010 and I have a similar problem. Did you find a solution?
Model PW10A1
ROM version 3.16.52 ENG
ROM Date 03/10/03
Radio version 3.19.01
Protocol version 32S54
The device works well but periodically goes off (PDA and cell phone) and pressing the power button at this point soft resets it. I have tried removing add on software (D9 dialer and SMS name utility), soft resetting and hard resetting.
A hard reset seemed to solve the problem - until I synched with Outlook again - but then maybe I did not wait long enough since even after synching and software being loaded, it does fine for hours at a stretch. It is my impression that an incoming or missed call causes it to do that but since it happens inconsistently, I cannot tell.
I had this issue... very frustrating.
So, I just called T-Mobile, and exchanged it for a new one... They didn't know why it was resetting itself.
The new one works fine, I have not had a single instance of it resetting.
So, I dont think that it is software...

Thanks. Are the software versions the same on your old and new machine?
for me, it is more problematic since there is no local dealership here and I bought this one in Dubai..
I may end up calling them anyway to see what can be done
the XDA was resetting in the original 3.14.40 TMobile Rom, I also tried 4.00.05 and 4.00.10, cooked in Jeffs ROM Kitchen...
All of these versions had the same problem. So, I believe that it was hardware.
On my new XDA, I have tried various versions of ROM, including various options on these roms from basic (no extra options) to 'as much as would fit'... including various Phone Applications, such as PhoneExt....
Hope this helps!

I suggest upgrading your ROM from 4.00.01 to one of the newer ones(4.00.05 or 4.00.11) over at Jeff's ROM Kitchen and using the SD card bootloader method to upgrade (thats if you have a PC SD card reader).

Okay, newbie upgrader here.
I've read a bunch in these forums, and it's been very helpful.
I upgraded my personal PPCPE (TMO) using their software, and it works great.
I was round my friend's house last night, and he has a PPCPE (AT&T).
Well, we downloaded the v30.09 firmware from Siemens website.
We backed up all the data.
We intalled the firmware.
At the end of the firmeware update, it said to turn the device off by using the hard reset button (that you have to unsccrew the stylus for.) and leave it off for a minute.
We did this.
It then said to turn it back on using the same reset button.
We did this.
However, we get the "Designed for Windows Mobile" logo, and the AT&T logo.
We get ROM versions:
G1.3.3
RA.33.02
A.30.09
After that nothing.
Having hastily given him my phone, I came home with his broken phone.
Well, having done a LOT of reading on this site, I got to use Jeff's tools to create a bootimage on an SD card, and I have been able to get the image flashed and loaded.
They device now boots.
However, I want to get the AT&T software on there as this is what's gonna make my buddy the most happy.
The image I have on there right now is SERv12.
Can somebody PLEASE tell me the best way to get this back to AT&T software running WM2003.
Thanks.
Okay, more info.
I have been successfully upgrading the ROM using the SD flash method.
I have been using Jeff's XDAtools to create the images.
I have been downloading ROM's from yorc and xdaweblink.
I have always tried versions without any software added to the ROM.
I have tried every version of 30.09 that I could get my hands on, even the one in the "SX56 upgrade utility" folder that the Siemens site created.
None have worked.
I have tried 4.00.05 ENG from yorc - didn't work (cool southpark screen though.)
I have tried 4.01.16 ENG from weblink - didn't work (Tmo verison)
I have tried 4.01.00 ENG beta from weblink - didn't work (Tmo beta version.)
I have tried A.30.07 ENG beta from weblink - didn't work (AT&T NFR version.)
I have tried 3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro from yorc -
When I say that the version don't work; here's what I mean.
I get the logo screen.
I get the three ROM versions in the bottom right.
The system then locks up and does not progress any further.
I have left the system on overnight with no difference.
The backlight comes on, but nothing else works.
I have tried the upgrades with and without a SIM card in place.
The phone was originally locked, but has subsequently been unlocked.
I have finally tried going back to A.20.17 from yorc - the original AT&T WM2002 version.
This version at least runs.
I still have the new radio stack running, but I am back to WM2002.
Does anyone have ANY idea how I might get this upgraded to WM2003.
My buddy want to run the MS Voice Command.
Also, with the updated Radio Stack, will he be able to connect continiously to the GPRS connection (sorry, I don't know too much about AT&T.) He really want the always-on internet.
Thanks for ANY advice given.

This happened to me using a mmc memory card to do the upgrade, it looked like it was doing everything ok, completed and gave the ok but on cold boot just hung, try another sd card, it just MIGHT work.
I'll look around for anohter SD card and see if that helps.
FYI, I've tried running the upgrade from the cradle/USB a couple of times, but that made no difference.
Also, since I was able to go back to WM2002 with the SD card, I can't see it being bad.
But thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go.

Well this is the first time I've been unlucky for once. I've just finished cooking up some Rom for my ATT Siemens SX56. I was using the WM2003SE upgrading from PPC2002. I have a feeling that I did something wrong here and I'm guessing that I can't upgrade from PPC2002 and only WM2003? Well I'm not quite sure since I'm new to this. I successfully always upgraded the rom until now. After powering up, it started hanging at the startup logo with the version of the radio stack I think.
G1.3.3
UA.33
3.04
I've tried using ActiveSync and of course it didn't work. The cradle or A.S. did not recognize the device. Tried using XDATool, none. Is there anyway I could go around the ActiveSync?
Use sd card method for flashing.
tried that and it didn't work. I tried almost any methods out there. I tired upgrading from the original ATT Rom PPC2002 to the Special Edition 1.2 Rom and it still didnt work. What's odd is... I can't get my WM2003 to work anymore! When I first started upgrading the rom, I upgraded using SE 1.2, then downgrade to the original ATT rom back to the WM2003 which actually worked fine until I got piss at the radio stack and downgrade back to the PPC2002 but once I tried upgrading to WM2003SE, it didnt work at all which brought me to downgrade back to PPC2002 again and tried upgrading to WM2003 (ATT Version) which still didn't worked. I've tried upgrading the radio stack 6.24 and 6.25 and radio stack that would be compatible for the SX56 still didnt work. Even downgrading my bootloader from 5.22 to 5.15, it still didn't work. It's really odd... Can ANYONE help me?
I have similar problem, I have Qtek 1010 and I can put original rom on only (2002). I have had 2003 on there before and it worked fine but I have tried everything and nothing seems to work, all the 2003 and 2003se rom will not go past the boot screen.
Is your phone working at all.
My phone is perfectly fine, I'm just trying anyway to resolve that booting problem and so far, I'm getting no good results out of it... This is totally driving me nuts!
I tried neally every rom and I can't get any to work on my Qtek except the original 2002 Carrier device Rom...... I don't understand why we could both upgrade before with no worries and now it just will not work....
PLEASE HELP SOMEONE.....
THANKS
Well, so far I tried another rom, an older one and I still didn't get it to work... SD Flashing... The normal method with ActiveSys, it still didn't work. There has to be a reason to why this isn't working. Does ANYONE out there know whats going on here?!
I upgraded my PPC from 2002 to 2003 successfully, but when I tried to upgrade radio, it was failed. I read a lot of article on the forum, and followed the instruction of 'How to fix GSM Error Problem', but still not improved. The RSU stopped at 1%, and then I placed my device in the cradle and run Active Sync, my PPC was not connected with computer, and cannot upgrade in background. I donot know why, please do help me, thanks a lot in advance.
In addition, on the back sticker of my PPC, it showed PW10B1. And I setup special_rom_1.1 to my PPC, at the decice information, it showed my model is PW10A1. So the different RSU should be used in the two model. I would like to ask which version of RSU I need to implement. Thank you.
It´s always the rearsticker you have to look at. So you require a 6.XX Radiostack
Stefan
hiya Stefan, I read a lot of article from you at this forum. Thank you for your reply.
I have tried setup several versions of ROM, such as special_rom_1.1, O2 rom, T-mobile rom, and Dopoda rom, and I also tried to setup various versions of RSU, such as 6.24, 4.21, and A.33, ect. But none of them can work on my device, I mean the ROM can be copied from SD card to my device successfully, but when I try to setup RSU files, every time it stoped at 1%, and I click to re-start the system, and then it stop at 1% once again. I have read 'How to fix GSM Error Problem ....' from wiki, but every time it stoped at 1%.
When I setup the O2 and special_rom_1.1 ROM to my device, it showed PW10A1 at the device information. But when I setup T-mobile 2003 ROM, it showed PW10B1 at the device information. On the back sticker of my device, it shows PW10B1.
My question are:
1, Which version of ROM I need to setup from SD card?
2, Which RSU I need to setup then?
3, How can I solve the problem that is failure at 1%?
Thank you in advance.
I am wondering if some one can help me to solve my problem. Thank you all.
Hi everyone !
I'm new here (in the Hermes forums). I have a prophet, but now I bought a Hermes.
The guy who originally owned (the phone is used) told me that when he flashed it, he had this problem that I'm going to tell you now, so I really don't know what could had happened to him during the flashing process.
The problem I have is that the Hermes works very well, the Wifi, bluetooth, card reader, everything EXCEPT the PHONE, let's say, the GSM interface.
When I turn it on, everything works well, (I DON'T SEE THE 'NO GSM' THING), and I have the antenna icon with the exclamation mark (!) next to it. When I go into there, in the phone configuration, if I try to select a network manually, after a few seconds it says that it can't retrieve the list of networks, that I have to try later. If I go to the band configuration, and I put it to use only gsm, for example, after a few seconds it says that it can't change the configuration, that I have to try later.
I tryed with different sims, of different companies.
When I bought the phone, it had a spanish Schap's 3.54b, and the Olipro 2.30 spl.
I tryed hard resetting, but nothing. I flashed the original shipped rom WM6.1 WWE, downloaded from here, and nothing. NOTE: I had to flash with the sd method because if I try to do it with the computer, I have the 260 error (or 262 i dont remember).
I changed the HARDSPL to theOlipro 2.10, hard reseted again, and still de same thing.
The IPL is 1.04.
NOTE: When I flashed the WWE rom, I flashed the .nbf file inside, but the SPL.nbf I didn't flashed.
What can I do? ANY SUGGESTIONS ?
I read a lot of things in the forums and in the wiki, but nothing. I've just finished downloading the Schaps WM6 4.31, now i will try to flash it with the sd thing.
Also, I have the protocol 32.80.7020.20H. I've read it somewhere but I don't remember what the protocol is. I HAVEN'T CHANGED THIS since I bought it, could that be my problem?
Currently, I have this (before flashing Schaps):
-Device Information:
ROM: 3.54.255.3
ROM DATE: 07/05/07
Radio Version: 1.47.00.10
Protocol: 32.80.7020.20H
ExtROM: 3.54.255.104
-In the bootloader:
IPL-1.04
SPL-2.10.Olipro
Maybe the antenna is no good...
1st thing I'd try though is to flash a new radio on (use sd card method). Worst that can happen is "No GSM" but as you can't use it anyway theres no harm in trying...
Check what radio rom you have 1st though so you can flash back if need be.
If you can get a "broken" Hermes (same model is best) then you can replace parts and see if that helps. I did this and found one of the parts that was causing a problem with my jasjam was the flywheel.
Do a search for the HTC service manual or go to Mike Channons web site to get heaps of manuals and tutorials...
Cheers...
The phone is near new, let's say, it was used for less than a month, he had it a week or two and then flashed it and had that problem, so I don't think that it's and antenna problem, and if it hadn't antenna, it has some signal of some kind.
Any other ideas?
I changed the radio when i Flashed the WWE version. I'm now downloading this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298520
Any suggestions? is there any problem using the AKU 3 or something?
Thanks =)
Hey,
What about the protocol version? can I change it? how? cause I flashed it and the radio changed but the protocol is the same.
I'll try to flash it with windows vista, to see if I can, because XP won't let my.. olnly SD flashing
Ok, I Installed a cingular flash, now I've protocol 32.67.7020.10H. Radio:1.34.00.10 and still having the same problem. I don't know what to do now... any suggestions? !
thanks
PD: also tryed putting a little piece of paper over the sim but it didn't changed anything
PD2: The error I get when I go to Phone Settings -> Netowrk, and I choose "Manual" is: "Unable to read setting from the netowrk. Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again.
