hello friends of mda/xda
i have successfully connected my new HOLUX GR-230 Bluetooth-receiver
to my new MDA II (german t-online) ...
but ... i cannot set the SPP-slave mode because of the limitations of the
bluetooth-manager included in the new os "pocket mobile 2003"
I try the HOLUX GR-230 with a Compaq 3970 and it is working well!
The Compaq bluetoothmanager gives the opportunity to set the GR-230 in spp-slave-mode.
question:
- how could i fix the problem?
- is there a different bluetooth-manager-application for download?
- is there a workaround? (editing the registery, ...)
thx a lot
sorry for my bad english ;-)

We understand!
O2 are working on an improved manager - they know the one they have at the moment is useless. There will ( I am reliably informed) be an upgrade sometime...

I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15382&highlight=
Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

As for disabling the MS stack, look here.
Got another Question ??
Will this new stack work on a Qtek2020 ? I've tried installing it on my Qtek2020 but it won't recognise my bluetooth hardware !!
Any sugestions ??? :?:

Sorry, another question.
In the event of a hard reset will my O2 XDA II restore the MS stack with whatever registry settings that were deleted in the process of installating the Toshiba bt stack? Will the Toshiba bt stack be totally removed in the evnet of a hard reset?
Thanks again
yes sir
Found 2 problems.
Cannot connect when call ring.. connect then call is fine.
Cannot Accept call with button on headset.
Any more Problems ???
Please post your problems ..
Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.

Hi, All!
I have a JAM and HP iPAQ hx4700 and i want to use my JAM as a bluetooth GPRS modem for iPAQ. Can anyone tell me how can I do this?
Imate - Jam as GPRS modem
Lots of people want this also.
You need to sort the bluetooth stack out first
Something like BT Tools would be nice
Can anyone out there help?

what is bt tools? I cant find this program
Has anyone gotten the imate JAM working as a GPRS modem via BT with any other PPC's or iPaqs?
I've just installed Pocket BT Tools... didn't do any good.
This should work (event though I don't understand the sense of it). The SSA profile is platform independent and when the stack of the HP is capable of using this profile from another device, it should work. Let me put it like this - if you can use it with your Pc, you should be able to use it with the IPaq.

I want to use the HP HX4700 for surfing because of its 480x640 VGA screen. I can pair the HX4700 and imate JAM via BT just fine. However, when the HX4700 attemps to use the JAM's GPRS connection, the JAM never dials out. The HP eventually returns an error message "cannot connect..." I've tried using the JAM's wireless modem app as well, with the same results. I'm not certain where the whole process is breaking down.
What parameters do you use? You should do the same as for your PC. Have you successfully connected to your Magician's modem with your PC? If not, try that first. Search the forum for tips.

My PC doesn't have any BT hardware, so I can't exactly test it using that platform. My HP HX4700 can use my SE P910a as a BT modem without any problems. The question is whether or not the imate JAM and/or the HX4700 both have the required software to share the GPRS connection. I've already paired the two devices -- they can see each other. However, when I attempt to connect to the JAM from my HX4700 to use its GPRS internet connection, then JAM doesn't initiate the auto-dial-out.
As far as parameters, I just go through the BT wizard on both my HP HX4700 and imate JAM. I can complete both wizard questionaires without any problems. The only part that breaks down is the actual JAM GPRS dial-out, which never starts automatically as it should.

TOSHIBA E800 with WM 2003SE - Works !
IPAQ 1940 - Does Not Work !!
Loox 720 - Does not Work !
Using bluetooth SSA protocoll and the Wireless Modem application on the MDA Compact side (I-MATE ROM WWE112 english )
On IPAQ and Loox 720 same kind of error is reported (cannot connect for an unknown reason)
I was surprised Loox 720 does not work (otherwise this is one fine machine !

Hi All,
I seem to be having Bluetooth problems with my dutch t-mobile mda compact:
I am using a simple bluetooth headset - it's got no brand name - but I know it works fine beacuse before getting the mda compact I have used it with my Nokia 6310i and it works fine.
Anyhow, I pair the headset with my mda with no problem and it may work all day long without any problem - but... if for instance I leave the room with my headset - leaving the phone behind - which essentially disconnects the BT headset and the phone - when I come back the phone doesn't recognize the headset no matter what I do. The headset icon on the top of the phone disappears and oesn't come back. I reset the phone, I cliick on the headset answer button, I turn on and off the bluetooth on the phone, I switch on and off the headset - nothing helps!
The only solution that I found working is to delete the headset from the bluetooth devices in the mda and then rediscover the headset which works like a charm. All goes back to normal unitl the next time that it loses connection. I think the phone also sometimes loses connection when I am not using the headset for a long time (and hour or so)...
What can I do?? this is really driving me crazy. I have no problems when using the same headset with my nokia 6310i - but hey, I want to use the MDA!!!
My device: MDA COMPACT - T-Mobile Netherlands
Rom - 1.01.00 WWE
Radio - 1.00.10
Protocol - 1337.36
Ext Rom - 1.01.124 WWE
Thanks you guys for helping me
Ciao,
Lisa
hey Lisa..
i've noticed ur device informations are the following:
My device: MDA COMPACT - T-Mobile Netherlands
Rom - 1.01.00 WWE
Radio - 1.00.10
Protocol - 1337.36
Ext Rom - 1.01.124 WWE
they are too old
I have not experienced a problem like urs before, but i recommend u to upgrade ur device(the latest ROM version is 1.12.00,as much as i know  ),u can find it in the ftp server, wich u can access from the wiki page(top left of ur page)...
if ur new to PDAs,then u have to know that ur device is a Magician,so search the ftp in the Magician folder
if u don't know how to upgrade ur device,u just have to ask,i will guide ur to the steps with pleasure
hope i've helped...
RAGO
Thanks Rago.
I was kind of wondering which one of the ROMs I should pick? When logging on to the FTP directory - there are lot's of shipped Magician Roms... Many show 112 - but which one should I take?
Is there any issue with the new Roms? Bluetooth problems?
Regards,
Lisa
hi lisa
best available workaround is to buy zenduris pocket zenphone software (do a search here at xda-developers). this program enables the headset profile permanently so your mda will be able to re-connect with your headset again, when you are back in the room.
cheers, lutz
Hi Lutz,
Thanks again for helping me
So you are using the word "workaround" - is this a known problem or it this just a problem with my device?
Am I to assume that there is a problem with the BT can can only be worked around and not solved permanently?
Does any of the new Roms solve this?
Bye,
Lisa
hi lisa
well there may be a rom that acts different but i won't force you to flash your device certain times with all the risks just to find out that it doesn't work! zenduris pocket zenphone really fixes the issue permanently and is definitely the best way to do it. i myself use the german o2 xda mini rom and it works well with my parrot ck3100 and reconnects with it the way it should while all the other (german) rom versions did not. but i guess you won't flash your device with a german rom, right...
cheers, lutz
Hi guys,
just listen to the story:
in one of the summer night ..... cute hu

i have tested it in my i-mate jam and it worked well
it has much more services which i never found in a bluetooth driver
which are:
Headset
File Explorer
Personal Area Networking
ActiveSync
Telephony (i think this is Dial up networkig)
Rendering (Don't ask me, i don't know  )
Serial port
Bluetooth ftp server
Object push
Object push server (i really don't know what's the difference..)
Bluetooth chat
i think that's enough, or i think there is nothing else

This one is rather old Toshiba's proprietary BT stack. nothing good. I have used it with my TOSHIBA E800 + TOSHIBA SD BT card combo 2 years ago. And had many problems with it. Anyway.
here is some info for you:
Profiles supported by your Toshiba Pocket PC
Headset Profile
Serial Port Profile
Dial-up Networking Profile
Object Push Profile File
Transfer Profile
LAN Access Profile
Personal Area Networking Profile
General Access Profile
Bluetooth specification
V1.2 Not compatible with Bluetooth V1.0B
devices.
as you can see - this one is not even BT 2.0 compliant.
do you mean that it's a useless software
what about blueSoleil, bluetooth adds..... and other softwares
comparing to that which one is better, :?: :?:
and i've sayed that it worked well on my i-mate jam. i don't know what about other devices.
Hi,
i'm testing the bluesoleil stack (bluesoleil_r2.arm with switch from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36395)
since 2 weeks on my magician (qtek s100 rom 1.12 FR , radio 1.13) and i'm very happy with it;
PAN network works fine for accessing my LAN (files, internet, activesync),
and file transfer with other mobiles works better (i didn't test others BT services like dun, fax...)
Just have to switch to ms stack for GPS use with my BT338 and TT6(very laggy with bluesoleil stack)
Regards.

Ok ...
I've got a iPaq HX4700 with WM5 on it. I want to use my MDA Pro (T mobile latest ROM, old as it is) as a bluetooth modem so my TomTom can get its traffic updates. Yes - I know I could just put the tomtom on the phone, but I have a cradle/speaker setup for for the HX4700 not to mention it has 6GB of storage on it though compact flash and SD ... so ..
I'm having real issues getting it to work - I dont suppose anyone else has done something like this ?
