Bought an XDA II last week here in Dubai.. after being the rest of the week in the UK and finding more dropped calls and "UNABLE TO ACCEPT CALL" issues than I have ever had with my Qtek...plus all the "FREEZES" than even on the original qtek at launch...I would suggest having a good look at this thing before going ahead and buying it !!! This is not a flame message, I will try to talk with CarrierDevices (They are in the Next building to ours in Dubai...). Only thing I can think off as possible issue is that this is an Arabic version ! but I am using it in English !!!, and apart from the ISSUES I think the phone is cool and the screen is super good (better than my company provided ipaq 2xxxx.
Hey NoBackUp, what is the ROM and Radio version?
Just for reference, the numbers for our XDA II:

I have the same Rom that you specified, but it has the arabizer that can be disabled, but i am having problems with the photo contacts program that is not working properly (it won't preview and doesn't work), do you know when will there be a more stable ROM or if u have access to one.
Other that that it ROCKS!!
Thx

I would say all the arabic-specific stuff is in Extended_ROM. See our page metioned previously on how to access this.
the versions you quoted are the same as the ones from Dubai...
I have tried the Arabizer both ON and OFF, still I get the unstable reactions....pity...nice piece of kit really.... carrier devioces are back at work tommorow lets see what they have to say for them selfs...
Well regarding the unstable part i have 2 XDA II one unbranded and the other is i-mate to be honest the i-mate is working great just like the unbranded device when i removed the pre installed arabizing software.
so i think there is ure problem which by the way also used to happen on the normal XDA...
i have also managed to work the bluetooth on it itssssss charming.
SIM?
I think if you have a SIM card with a round metalic contacts, rather than the square(er) contacts of newer 3v only SIM cards there are some stability issues.
I've a square 3v SIM and no stability issues to speek of.
we only have phase 3 sim cards here...”3v only” is the old style…
try the following hit the "Wireless" icon and note how long it takes for the dialogue box to pop up then hit the "Turn the radio off" hotspot.. You will notice much longer delays before it performs the task, the same happens when you have switched it off and then attempt to "Switch the radio on". A further prob is with the Volume control....do the following...call your voicemail "long" press the green phone key, now when the speakerphone is on , reduce the volume with the side "Slider" when it is at minimum try to increase it...it don’t work you can only use the stylus on the screen, if you allow, after reducing the volume, the dialog to disappear then try to increase the volume with the slider it works again, then if with the dialogue displayed you then end the call the dialogue will appear to be stuck on screen, and only disappear after about 10 secs...I have tried the above with Arabizer on and off, I have even "Cold" booted and said cancel when the "customize" dialogue pops up....

I have cooked T-Mobile ROM 4.01.00 and 4.01.16 both of these make pocket pc turn on everytime. Also SMS when sent goes to Outbox or in drafts.
Can anyone help me to slove this problems or better ROM
Use the AT&T 30.09 ROM.
Although there is an issue with volume (search for attenuation on this site) I definitely prefer it to the T-Mobile ROM which made my device turn on at random times as well.
nothing wrong with 4.01.00 .. most of these 'turn on' issues are related to either scheduled Outlook refreshing ... or weak phone signal which will turn on the device to gain it back
It's definitely not acceptable with a device that turns itself on in the pocket and starts draining battery and accepting input on the screen.

I use it instead of a phone, and as I would normally keep my phone in my pocket that's also where I keep my Qtek. It has been there for the last 18 months or so without taking any major damage. I have a screen protector, but that's about it.
I think you have a bigger problem than damaging your phone.
After 18 months, isn't it time you changed your pants!?
Ok, it hasn't been in the same pocket continously for 18 months. And I usually put it in my jacket rather than in my trousers.
What I wanted to say was that I treat it more or less the same way as I would treat a normal mobile phone.

but you see, I believe normal phones are better built than this fragile device ... just look to the the propability of having a broken screen out of the simplest bending force ... or, how many times did you drop your Nokia to find it's still working ????
Just be careful
Well, I've dropped my Qtek a few times as well. I'll admit it has not been as frequent as with the old Nokia 8210. But I haven't had to get a new display unit for the Qtek which I had to do for the Nokia.
I try to go easy on the connectors and not to sit on it with all my weight. That seems to be enough carefulness for it to last for at least a couple of years. The only visible damage is a few dents and that the paint has started to wear off at certain spots.
T-Mobile ROM 4.01.00 and 16 are working well except AT&T ROM A30.09 having sound problem.I-Mate ROM 1.66 or other ROMs can be installed in XDA 1.

That's my first time to know that!! ... is it the same ROM image specs ?? ... Have you tried it yourself ? ... normal .nbf file ?
Biso, you said it works well for you. What about the SMS problem? I just got 16 and when I try to send SMS they go to outbox or drafts, only to tell me later that the message could not be sent. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm sorry not to be aware of such problem on 4.01.xx ROMs.
Have you checked the SMS center number ?
start, settings, phone, services, Voice mail and SMS, service center
Thanks,
For some reason, when I installed the TMO ROM, the SMS Service Center was wrong, and I had to add a + to it. Now the ROM works great. I really like the dual volume controls. Thanks!!!!
Hello,
I have a T-Mobile MDA Compact (UK) that I got several months ago. The details of the device are:
ROM Version: 1.01.00 WWE
ROM Date: 10/21/04
Radio Version: 1.00.10
Protocol Version: 1337.36
ExtROM Version: 1.01.128 WWE
Firstly I havent; installed ANY software on this, apart from whats already on it and I have given it a hard reset (re-installed everything) once and the problem
still occurs.
=== THE PROBLEM =========
This doesn;t happen everytime I receive a call, but it happens often enough to become very annoying.
If I receive a call from someone at a certain point and then after the conversation I press the red hang up button the phone screen loses its little "X" in the
top right of the screen. This then prevents me from leaving the phone call screen.
Press the red hang up button again or holding it down doesn;t return me to the today screen neither, Ive tried pressing every combo of buttons the the thing and
it stays on that screen.
To fix it I have to do a soft reset and reboot the damn phone, which is annoying.
It was happening a lot before I done the hard reset, after I reset it didn't happen for a while so I thought it was fixed, but its started doing again now... and
doing it too often for my liking now.
The only thing I have done is install a new theme... could it have anything to do with that? If not what could it be?
T-Mobile UK havent released an update for the MDA Compact yet, but there is one on the german T-Mobile site... but I dont want to risk installing that... or could
I?
Any help you can give will be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve McKeogh
I've seen a number of probs with different Compacts but never heard of that one before. It's not something I've experienced on my own one either, which leads me to think it may be a fault on your handset. I have something similar when I use my camera occasionally but I put that down to mucking around with software updates, but if you haven't changed anything I'd go with a fault. It can go for repair under warranty, which means they'll probably do a complete software upgrade or exchange the unit, so make sure all your important stuff is backed up before you do.
I tend to agree with the Bulletman. I had the exact same problem with 2 brand new xda IIi's and returned them (o2 not happy!). i did however find that when I installed SPB pocket plus 3.0 , which does shut down the phone dialler/application properly, that that problem was resolved.
Still I concur that it's most likely a hardware issue as I still had poor reception, poor call quality and consequently lost calls! Get it repaired or replaced if you can. My current MDA Compact never does this and it has all the original Rom and software on it, but works flawlessly, hence I've never upgraded.
If it ain't broke why fix it?
i noticed your rom is 1.01, ever throught of upgrading to 1.12 WWE?
Hi people!
Problem with the 9000th is the following:
After installing yesterday the SPB Pocket Plus 3.1.2 app my device began to hopelessly hang every time on “switch on”: white screen, collage. I’m dead tired to soft reset it each time.
And this morning something terrible happened. I found the device not breathing (both BT and cell network side diodes weren’t alight), “switch on” button didn’t react. Just after plugging to the charger the device started to load in boot safety mode. After that same hanging continued.
Yesterday night the battery was charged to 80% and this morning I found it at 2%.
I made a back-up and now ready for the operation.
Is there a clear solution for my case? Do I need to take the device to morgue (SC) or could I try to operate it in home conditions through hard-reset and installing later ROM version?
Please advise!
Thanks in advance.

It sounds like your device hung and rather than just switch off, it kept running, draining the battery.
You should definitely upgrade the ROM - it's easy to do and you can get the files from the ftp site here or from myqtek.com but I wouldn't have thought your device is broken.
Upgrading the ROM is really easy but will wipe your device so I hope you had your info sync'd!
Either way, everyone on here can usually sort any woes you may have
Oh, and welcome, btw
Lordsmiff.
Thanks for a valuable advice.
Ok, I will consider an upgrade, though people at our domestic qtek-mobile forum do not advise to upgrade the ROM saying that in many cases of upgrading to 1.30.70 from AKU2 the device died completely.
Syncing is another issue but not for this time
And thanks for a warm welcome
Nik
OK Nik got your problem last week even after the rom update. Basically I was never able to run properly Spb Pckt + on my qtek 9000.
I thus decided to use Ilauncher for a while and now definitely turned to Resco Today Plugin whic is the most proficient task manager, even though it is poor in options and aesthetics. I made that choice combining it with magic button to close apps and I'm pretty set.
Moreover, Resco saves 45% more memory than any other launcher......
Now you now...
Cheers

Hi y'all,
since a few days I'm the owner of a Qtek S100. The previous owner bought it a year and a half ago and has never updated anything on it.
The ROM is version1.06. (Radio is version 1.05). I've tried to register on qtek.nl to get the latest updates but you have to enter an IMEI-nr during the registration and since my device is from Belgium as is my IMEI, I can't register!
I see that there are different kinds of ROMs circulating so my question is; Which one do I need/ is the best?
Should I install rom and radio apart or does rom contain also radio?
I've heared about a special rom-pack that also has the big storage hack in it. What about this?
Do I also have to install the camera patch? Where can I find it?
I've also heared about a A2DP bluetooth patch..
The sticky about upgrading is kinda outdated and didn't help me much..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aside from this I have some other problems I've encountered. I don't know if they'll be fixed after I update the ROM but here they are;
- how do I lock the buttons/screen? The only thing that seems to work but isn't very convenient is to enable a the password in the settings and check the box next to "prompt if device is unused 1 minute". No plain button/screen lock?
- If the device is on stand-by I don't get any notification that I've received an sms. Only when I disable the stand-by by pushing the power button then I get it. But this could be like half an hour after I've received a message.
- if someone calls me and I end the call, how can I save his/her number to my phonebook?
- If I take of the batterycover the device shuts down. Is this supposed to happen?
-How do you completely shut the device down? If I press and hold the powerbutton (like described in the manual) the backlight dims, if I press it shortly it goes on stand-by.. but how do I turn the device of (without taking of the battery-cover..)
- Is it normal that when my battery is low (10-15%) the bluetooth doesn't work?
- Which 4GB SD-cards are known to work 100% with the Qtek S100?
- I've noticed that the battery is kinda weak/worn out? Where can I find a replacement with a higher capacity?
Maybe I should also say that this is the first time I work with Windows Mobile so don't be too harsh on me
Thanks for helping out!
Anyone?

Okay, I'll make a start with what I know off the top of my head but would recommend a bit of reading here and on MoDaCo.com as all the answers not too difficult to find.
I'm using iMate 1.12 ROM which is the best from that source. I've not tried any other operator/manufacturer versions so can't comment. The radio version will be included and the camera patch is not needed with the latest updates. A2DP patch is here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249219
I recommend pocketMax's screenGuard and phoneAlarm for locking & notifications respectively :
http://www.pocketmax.net/index.html
With the Dialpad on the screen, go to Call History. Press and hold on the number you want to save, first option is Save To Contacts.
Pocket PCs until very recently were designed to never be completely shut down. This is why we have a backup battery. Make sure that you pull the little rubber lug away from the battery before you remove it as you can initiate a hard reset otherwise. This is in the manual.
Bluetooth can be a battery-drainer so I'm not surprised it won't work with that level of juice. I'd try and avoid letting the battery level get that low if possible as the backup only lasts for about 20 minutes. After that you will lose all your data etc.
I use a MobyMemory own-brand 4GB mini-SD in an adaptor. I have had a couple of problems with it but generally it works fine. Today screen plugins installed on the card can be slow to load.
http://www.mobymemory.com/
I'm sure other members here will correct me if there are better answers and fill in the gaps otherwise.
please do search and few readings on this forum... and hmmm i saw some anwers that actually u can get from your xda manual book
happy reading...
Hi Dear Friends,
I bought one SPV-M600 (same as HTC Prophet) and there was a problem with the sound in ear speaker and microfon. Then I made many updates do different vesions and I found tt this problem disapper. Now I can speak, but I cant hang-up the line and to press the btn in upper right corner, associated to contacts. The most strange is, when I start the camera and then I exit fm camera menu, those two buttons working perfectiy for a some time. I'm sure that this is a software problem. I tried
[wm6.1]Prophet ShadoW 2.0 Touch Edition
[wm6.1]Prophet S4V.19701.01 (UC)
PV_Temp + Prophet tuch XB
...
But same and the same... When I restart the phone I can't use contacts btn and red headphone for hand-up and exit. After some circumstances (like camera on, than off) these two btns start working for some time.
P.S. All times all used soft for G4 phone.

this reminds me of my problem with the power button and it might not neccessarily be a software problem if it's the same on all ROMs.. i didn't get you - you said it was the same with the original rom, too?
Never seen original rom
Hi Vooood,
tks for your reply.
Please note I never seen the original rom fm Orange UK.
Could someone tell me from where I can download it.

hmm no idea if you can download it.. perhaps if orange released upgrades or something like that.. but you can request some original roms and people will most of the time reply with one
your last hope is servicing where they can put on the original rom and even check out your buttons if you don't mind paying for that..
