Hi,
I have 4.00.021 on my Asian XDA and decided T-Mobile is not good for me. I now have the well documented can't go back issue and guess what, my bootloader is 5.17 to make the insult even bigger... I tried the fix broken bootloader but get the following error : ... As you will notice I put the tool in c:\binaries as the long directory names were attributed to this problem earlier on. Any idea how I can overcome this riddle? Thanks a zillion in advance.
C:\binaries>pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0
'C:\binaries\pput.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
ERROR: ITReadProcessMemory - Unspecified error
Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect
search and read old threads!
Thanks for your friendly reply. I did exactly as you told reviewed many threads and am none the wiser. The new fix broken bootloader tool gives me the error mentioned below and I could not see a resolution to that. I will try the old XDAwrit + SD Card reader option next but comparatively thats a very risk option as I understand it and hence my reoluctance.
If you know how to make fix broken bootloader work please spare me with a part of your wisdom and just tell me how. Thanks a lot for your help.
read this link http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2928
if you still cannot make it work, send to me, I will fix it for you
Thanks for your offer for help. I must be the miggest idiot on this forum. I still can't make it work... I read & read & read the link you gave me but I'm still none the wiser. Few issues I am stuck with :
In the thread you mention I see the reference to 'pnewbootloader bl515.nb0'
I do not have bl515.nb0 but I have bootloader_v5_15.nb0 from Jeff's tools and when I use this file I get the following error. My ActiveStink is working.
H:\build>pnewbootloader bootloader_v5_15.nb0
Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect
Then I want to use the wallaby patch loader option so I refer to the following link but this link is not live any more.
updated version of wallaby patch loader at http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/download/wbt-1.5.tar.gz
What should be my next step? Should I try to fix whatevers wrong with the pnewbootloader or should I hunt down the wallaby patch loader option....
Totally confused. Thanks a lot for your help. Regards
my latest tools don't use 'pput' anymore, so you will encounter less problems
if you use the newest from http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html
Got it and tried it. Results are the same :
C:\binaries\build>pnewbootloader.exe bootloader_v5_15.nb0
Copying C:\binaries\build\itsutils.dll to WCE:\windows\itsutils.dll
Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect
Do you think this has anything to do with the protection T-Mobile builds into their ROMs? To re-iterate I have the 4.00.021 on.
Any other ideas? Thanks a lot for all your help. Regards.
Kerem
As per instructions in your text file I tried pmemdump and get the following. Not sure if this is of any help.

I have the Same error with k_kirt when i try to down from 6.22 to 5.15 , Dont know what to do. Somebody help me.
billgate, please see
http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3162
Thanks to the help from friends on this site my problem is resolved. If you have a SD card reader/writer you can use the older version of XDArit to write the Wallaby patch and then bring your bootloader version to 5.15.
good luck.
K_kirk,
Could you please explain in detail?
Where can I find the bootloader 5.15? I have downloaded the file "wallaby-patch-tool.nb2"
What should I do now?
please help me!
This is long. Bear with me. I just did a cut n paste from a txt file I recorded so I wouldn't forget how to do this again.

Before you start:
Suggest that you back up PIM data with ActiveSync. Copy any other files you need to an
SD card or desktop/laptop computer. Try not to do a full backup and restore that later
as it will usually mess up the XDA. Re-installing your apps is the best way since PPC2002
and WM2003 are different.
Hardware that you need:
1. O2 XDA smartphone (obviously!)
2. Sync cradle
3. Internal/External SD card reader
4. Spare SD card (preferably 2)
Software you need to download:
1. Get cooked ROM or any other ROM. ROMkitchens at http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org
2. Get XDAtools from http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDAtools-Jeff.exe
3. Get bootloader fix tools from http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/download/bootloaderfix.zip
4. Get Wallaby patchloader fix from http://xda-developers.com/~itsme/download/wbt-1.5.tar.gz
5. Get XDArit v1.2 tool from http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/XDArit.exe
6. Get XDArit v1.0 tool from http://givemebeer.com:8080/warez/XDA/xdarit.exe
7. Get Wallaby Patch file from http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/wallaby-patch-tool.nb2

created in a safe place.
4. Next, select Source as the ROM file you downloaded or cooked. Select Destination as
Device Memory (via Programme A). Click Copy.
5. Follow on-screen instructions.
Method 2:
1. Extract wallabypatch-sd.nb2 from wbt-1.5.tar.gz in item 4.
2. Using XDArit v1.0, choose Write to SD card and tick Diagnostics and select the file
wallabypatch-sd.nb2 and tick the header of 1k. Click OK to write.

donpkong,
nice to see a fellow m'sian here.
Anyways, i'm currently on 6.22, downgraded my WM2003 to PPC2002, because of poor battery life and a DEAD vibrator after upgrading.
I"m trying to downgrade my 6.22 to a 5.15 because I have an inkling it's the root of the problems - IE vibrator not working.
Pnewbootloader doesn't work for me - it just says "Unable to find flash info offset, cannot disable bootloader writeprotect" so i guess the only hope is via SD-flashing.
Would like to get a few things clear here.. in a nutshell, what I have to do is :
1) Create Wallaby-diagnostics card
2) Create ROM image + 5.15 bootloader onto another SD card using XDArit options
then
1) Load up with patched diagnostics card (Wallaby)
2) Backup ROM + Bootloader (optional)
3) Select Restore SD
4) Insert SD, restore OS + Bootloader
Is there anything I missed out? I'm desperately wanting my vibration back because it's annoying to miss calls during meetings and stuff like that.
Thanks!
i did not have to downgrade from 6.22 to 5.15 and my vibrator works fine on WM2003. i do not know how to downgrade bootloader or have the need to do so.
What do i got to do if my xda lose bootloader.
Press and hold Power Button then Press Reset. Nothing appear.
@kavin
the same happened to my XDAII.
I would say, once you lose the bootloader and you, probably, don't want to play with JTAG, you can only send it to repair service...
buzz
Thank buzz_lightyear for reply.
But I can't send it because I'm living VietNam.
I give it to someone but they said that Nothing can do.
Oh....my god! I'll lost my xda...>>
Thanks donpkong
This is the amazing thread. Solve my problem that I have looked for solution for a long time. Thanks!!!

Hello
I just did the following :
download the files from www.carrierdevices.com.au for Qtek 101 update
"Qtek 1010 Upgrade
(22102003-190723)-RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
File Contents
• CE Upgrade File : RUU_CEv3.18.04wwe_Qtek_SHIP.exe
• Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
"
When the process began there was an error asking to press OK for restart.
After restarting device in the boot sequence ( when logo is diplayed) there are no informations about the ROM. Just Radion version is diplayed and that is the new version one (3.25)
Also on the display there is no start icon and I cannot use the display because it seems to be decalibrated completly.
Very Important : When I try to connect to Activesync after a while it telling me that the device is not a smartphone or a pocket PC and cannot be connected. So I cant use any program to try to upgrade again.
What to do ?
Please try to give examples and link to download files in order to fix my device.
Thanks in advance
Silviu C.
Hi ...
If you still can get to the boot loader screen (power button + soft reset) and it displays "GSM OK", that means there is a good chance that the flash ROM is not damaged.
You can either put the ROM and RSU files on SD card through a card reader (.nbf files) or to get a valid SD backup for CE + Radio from any working XDA and use the boot loader screen to flash your device again.
Good luck ...
thanks, where I can get some files?
Thank you for your replay,
It seems to be ok cause i can upload a new CE in SD format to the device. ROM was build in the kithcenROM from yorch.net.
It still not working cause perhaps I need the file containing Radio and CE as well in SD format.
Do you know where I can get it ?
I dont think I can get another device to read the files on the SD.
Many thanks,
Silviu C.
I 'm not sure which stage you are stuck with now ... if you can put CE image on SD card and flash it using the boot loader, that means you can boot your XDA and flash the RSU through a normal EXE file from yorch.net .... if this is not the case then you most propably have the wrong file format on the SD card.
Give more details plz
present situation
I am at the edge of disperation.
Steps of what I did :
1. Back up Boot and CE to SD and save them to HDD.
2. Build a CE from Yorch.net in nb1 format and write it to SD with an adaptor.
3. Flash the device with that specific file ( was just CE , not including bootloader)
Now, my pocket is like that:
It cannot been powered from the power button
It start when plug in the charger
I cannot go in bootstrap mode ( when procedure for activating is made I just got a small red flash from the LED)
I have to mention that I choose from the yorch options :" lock butons except power when the device is turned off "
So, now I cannot use the SD for try another flash image.
I cannot use activesync because it cannot recognize the device. Somthing is wrong in the header of the authorising string or something like that.
When I plug the USB cable, activesync is starting but after 10 secs a pop up telling me that the device cannot be recognize, it is not a smartphone or pocket pc.
I am stack.
Thank you
Silviu C.
another question
I have another question:
Is there anywhere - in situation that the problem with boostrap will be solved somehow - full flash containing both radio and CE ?
Thank you,
Silviu C.
some little success
I have suceded by entering in bootrap mode !!
It telling me that I have GSM ERROR
What to do?
IS there any way I can get a full flash for Qtek with radio and OS as well?
Thanks,
Silviu C.
In the boot loader screen, try to press the calendar button ... it should give you the GSM menu. Select "Reset" or "Turn off" and do a soft reset
Plz do NOT try band switching or "Calib/debug"!
It sounds like a failed radio stack upgrade, you can try copying the RSUpgrade.sa.CAB file to your SD card then run it from there.
You can get the RSUpgrade.sa.CAB file by using WinZip to extract it from the RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG)[1].exe file.
HTH
Hope this helps, this is a simple process, these instructions appear long and difficult because i've added quite a bit of detail.
Prepare Everything
1 - Download and install XDATolls http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/XDAtools
2 - Connect your PocketPC and make sure that ActiveSync is running
3 - Delete all files on your SD Card (in your pocketPC)
Extract the ROM files & get ready for the upgrade
4 - Run the .exe file you download from Siemens, this will extract the files into C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility. Don't proceed with the install, just exit it after the extract is completed.
5 - Confirm the existance of the file C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility\english\NK.nbf
Using XDAtools (OS Image tool) transfer the ROM onto your SD card via your PocketPC and cradle (this is a new feature)
6 - Run the XDA OS Image tool (part of XDA Tools)
7 - As your source select the file C:\Program Files\SX56 upgrade utility\english\NK.nbf (directory is selected by clicking the square button with dots)
8 - As your destination select from the drop down box SD Card
9 - Click copy to transfer the file, if it fails check that ActiveSync is running & try again
Re-flash Image using Wallaby Bootloader method
** THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON YOUR POCKETPC, you have been warned, make sure you've got a backup of everything you need.
10 - Plug your PocketPC into AC power & Make sure that your SD card is in the slot on your pocketpc
11 - Using the stylus top, hold down the left hand soft-reset, then press the power button.
12 - The bootloader should find the new ROM image on the SD card, press the action button to start the load (action button been the central click of the direction button)
13 - The load process will take about 5 minutes or so
14 - Once completed, use the stylus top and press the battery disable button, leave for 5 seconds then press it again to enable the unit.
Enjoy the new ROM, note that the first bit of any audio is played at a reduced volume, this doesn't help short ring tones nor fonix voicedial. Other than that the ROM seems quick and highly stable.
very good guide: question
do you know if this will touch the RSU?
no thats the whole point of copy'ng out the nbf file is that you dont mess with the rsu
which version is better?
thank you for your reply rudegar.
What version do you recommend for a SX56?
A.30 (cooked) , 4.01 (cooked) or the one released from siemens?
I heard that 2003 have some bugs, is it true? I have ppc 2002, is it worth the upgrading to 2003?
i dident have too many problems with my xda1 when i upgraded it to 4.01
org from tmobile
dident have a single SD card ereasing issue like some people report
but nor did i really think that the os was all that different
A.30 or 4.01?
What about A.30? what are the differences between both? which is better?
The following will describe how to unlock the sx56 (Siemens AT&T PPC - A.30.09 Eng, 01/01/04, A.33.02, 1.3.3) and downgrade version 5.22 of the bootloader to 5.15 to avoid the keycheck.
Requirements:
Card Reader
1x64Mb+ card
XDArit (XDA ROM Image Tool V1.2)
bootloader_v5_15.nb0
Cooked ROM image to use as a replacement.
Backup the existing bootloader and operating system using card reader
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Insert a blank SD card into the XDA
2) Do a hard reset (hold on/off key then press the soft-reset button) click on Contacts button and
choose 'CE+BOOT TO SD', and press the action button to backup the ROMs.
3) Once complete, remove the SD card from the PPC and insert it into the card reader.
4) run XDA ROM Image Tool V1.02
5) Select SD Card from the dropdown
6) Choose 'Read from SD card'
7) Ensure both the 'Bootloader' and 'Windows CE' checkboxes are checked and click the '...' buttons
for each to select a file to back up the bootloader and OS into.
8) Click OK to read the data from the ROMs into the selected files.
Create a V5.15 Boot Loader to allow boot load functionality and avoid key checking in V5.17+
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements:
bootloader_v5_15.nb0 from the self-extracting zip downloadable at:http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDAtools-Jeff.exe
in the 'binaries' folder.
Procedure:
1) Run XDA ROM Image Tool V1.02
2) Select SD Card from the dropdown
3) Choose 'Write to SD card'
4) Click on the radio button for 'before 5.17 (1K)'
5) Click the 'Bootloader' checkbox
6) Click the '...' button and browse to the 'bootloader_v5_15.nb0' file
7) Click 'OK' to write the bootloader ROM to the SD card..
When the SD card has been programmed successfully, throw it in the XDA
and do a hard reset (hold on/off key then press the soft-reset button).
It will automatically be detected as a bootloader ROM and hit the Action key
to change the bootloader to V5.15.
When this update is complete, a hard reset will show the bootloader version as 5.15
and loading of application ROMs can be done easily.
Cook a ROM and download it to the XDA
-------------------------------------
1) Go to http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
2) Next to 'Which ROM Version do you want to cook?' Click on the 'Pocket PC 2002 ROM' link.
3) I chose '3.17.03 ENG O2-Euro' with 'No AutoConfig data'
4) Select the remaining options as desired BUT ensure that the 'XDAUnlock' checkbox is checked
under the 'create 'Phone' subfolder under 'Programs'' category beneath 'Add software and modify ROM'
if the unit is currently SIM locked (if this is left out, you will have to manually transfer the file over after the cooked ROM is loaded).
5) Click the 'Build ROM now' button and when complete, click on the 'Download ROM' button to store
the newly cooked ROM on your harddrive.
6) Run XDA ROM Image Tool V1.02
7) Select SD Card from the dropdown
8) Choose 'Write to SD card'
9) Click on the radio button for 'before 5.17 (1K)'
10) Click the 'Windows CE' checkbox
11) Click the '...' button and browse to the newly cooked ROM file downloaded in 5).
12) Click 'OK' to write the application ROM to the SD card.
When the SD card has been programmed successfully, throw it in the XDA
and do a hard reset (hold on/off key then press the soft-reset button).
It will automatically be detected as an application ROM and hit the Action key
to change update the operating system.
When this update is complete, a hard reset will boot the new operating system.
Running the Programs|Phone|XDAUnlock file will remove the SIM Lock...after this time, the original
ROM/bootloader could be restored as desired.
This is a compliation of information found on this site into one central post...and I would like to pass on a huge THANKS to the group as the procedure described above allows me to remove the SIM Lock originally set by AT&T and easily boot load cooked ROM's.
Cheers.
Brilliantly described, foolproof step by step guide. Maybe the admins will make this a sticky.
will this work with WM2003? or do i need to downgrade to PPC2002?
can't wait to unlock my SX56.

Cheers.

John Doehead; thank you so much for the tremendous effort done in this thread. I really appreciate putting things on a step by step method. I know how time consuming it might be. Thank you once more.
Second Step
The one part I didn't understand was, why was the second step ("Create a V5.15 Boot Loader to allow boot load functionality and avoid key checking in V5.17+ ") needed?
Need help to downgrade bootloader 5.22

I also have to unlock T-mobile bootloader 22.. anyone can help me to unlock it.
Br.
A. WAHAB
I ALSO FACE THE SAME PROBLEM AS SPRINT :
WHEN I TRY TO LOAD THE BOOTLOADER 5.15 TO SD CARD USING CARD READER AND XDArit it says:
Failed to open device \\.\PhisicalDrive4
how to solve this problem or is there any other method to unlock this wallaby:
rom: 4.01.16eng
date: 2/04/04
radio: 6.25.02
protocol: 324e4
bootloader 5.22
I need help too....
My specs are
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date: 05/15/03
Radio version: 6.25.02
Protocol version: 324e4
Bootloader 5.15
Now I have done everything in the instructions. but I cant get this sim unlocked. I have tried the, XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe, the ,XDArit1.exe, XDAunlock, I have used prebuilt roms, stripped down roms, fullyloaded roms. Nothing is unlocking this phone.......
Is it possible that my radio version is stopping me from unlocking this sim?
What can I do to down grade the radio to...4.x.x.x.?
Please help
Use those instructions.....

I am the proud owner of a used Y-Mobile MDA. I am attempting to unlock it with all the instructions I have seen here so far, but I am not being successful.
XDATools enabled me to downgrade the OS easily enough, but I can't seem to get the old XDArit to work, as it gives me the following the error when attempting to write to SD card:
"failed to open device \\.\PhysicalDrive 13"
this also happens sporadically when attempting to read from a SD card.
I also have had problems with downgrading the radio stack, as instructed in one of the posts. It goes to about 4% and then says "upgrade failed. Please soft restart your device." I can't seem to figure it out and would like some further instructions on how to stop this....
please don't insult me as I am not a programmer or a spend all my time unlocking cell phones. I just want some help.
OK there's a LOT of confusion between all the threads on exactly how to switch languages and official ROMS etc etc. The fix I have here (not entirely created by me, I believe Cmonex, Jesterz and the QMAT people are to be thanked) I'm just summarising to make it easy for any noobs here
This will enable you to replace your official ROM (any language) with another official ROM (any language etc). IT is NOT an SPL fix so no custom ROMs will work yet. It also won't SIM unlock your phone.
---
Note: There seems to be a problem flashing the Current Russian ROM to a WWE EU/US/Asia HTC Leo. I advise anyone NOT to flash the Russian ROM for the moment, until a fix has been found. (Its been guessed that the Russian ROM is either locked, non-official or written for a slightly different version of the HTC Leo (perhaps version 110)

Things we need:
-MicroSD card, anything over 512MB is good enough.
-HTC LEO...just in case you forgot
-QMAT 5.06 (other methods available but this is easiest) installed
-An Official HTC rom that you wish to write to your phone (any language). Some can be found here . The examples included here involve RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1...
-a zip utility eg the free 7zip installed.
-----
1: Format your SD card to FAT32.
--a: Plug your phone into your windows PC, select DISKDRIVE on your LEO
--b: The Drive should be visible in Windows as REMOVABLE DISK
--c: Right Click and Format > Format to FAT32 (best to untick quick format)
2:Allow non signed Software on the Leo
--a: install a regedit software on your Leo e.g. PHM regedit also original PHM Site (offline at the moment)
--b: Run the regedit software
--c: Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies
--d: Look for 00001001 double click it and change the setting from 2 to 1
--e: Reboot the HTC LEO
3:Get the SD card's Serial number.
--a: Unplug your HD from the PC and Plug it back in select ACTIVESYNC on your LEO
--b: Run QMAT, Select Hardware Forensics>WINCE SD> Get serial
--c: It should give you a long Serial number, take note of this number for step 4:
--d(optional): Most people have better success by replacing the first 2 letters/numbers with 00 (zero zero) then use this number for the next step
4: Get your Gold Card.
--a: Goto the very generous people over at QMAT again. (NO LONGER FREE - alternative method coming soon)
--b: Input your email and in the CID box put your SD card Serial number from the step above
--c: Click continue and you should receive a goldcard.img file in your email.
5:Rewrite your SD card with the Goldcard
--a: Get yourself a HexEditer. Install and run it. (Win 7 & Vista users - run this as Administrator)
--b:Unplug and replug your HTC LEO select DISK DRIVE on the LEO
--c:Go to Extra Tab > Open Disk. Under Physical disk, select Removable Disk (Must be your SD card), uncheck “Open as Readonly), click OK.
--d:Go to Extra again, Open Disk Image, open up goldcard.img which you’ve saved/unzipped earlier. Now, you should have two tabs, one is your removable disk, the other is goldcard.img. Press OK when prompted for “Sector Size” 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks), click OK.
--e:Click on goldcard.img tab. Go to Edit tab > Select All, edit tab again > copy.
--f:Click on the “removable disk” tab. Highlight the offset from 00000000 to offset 00000170 (including the 00000170 line), click on Edit tab and then Paste Write.
--g:Click on File > Save. now you can exit the program.
--h:Reboot the HTC Leo
At this point if you have an O2 phone or experience "00028002 not allowed" aftter completing the 6 (Normal) step, then see below for the 6 (O2 Phones) step. (Some phones not just O2 Phones will not work with 6 (Normal) and vice-versa.
6 (normal): Put your Favourite OFFICIAL Rom on the Leo
--a:Right click on your exampleOFFICIALrom.exe and Extract it to a folder
--b:From the extracted file locate RUU_signed.nbh and rename it LEOIMG.nbh
--c:Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to your MicroSD card
--d: Make sure your phone is charged at least 80% then power it off
--e: Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press POWER button
--f: A menu will appear select (usually the power button) to continue to write the ROM
--g:After 5-10 minutes the phone should tell you the ROM was successfully written and the bar is full. You can now press reset (the small Red button beside the battery, use a pen)
-----
6 (O2 Phones): Put your Favourite OFFICIAL Rom on the Leo
--a: Unplug your phone and plug it back in, set it to ACTIVESYNC
--c: Run the exampleROM.exe file it will guide you through the update process.
-------
7: Your done
That's it, it should now boot up in the ROM and language of your choice.
If there's anything I left out or anything you'd like to add just let know on this thread. Also keep us up to date on how it worked for you.
Enjoy
If after using the Hex Editor you are asked for FORMAT your disk again (and unable to put LEOIMG.NBH on the SD card) you can follow on from these steps (from Sickboy6th)>
1. Format SD card from within WinMo
2. Place LEOIMG.NBH on the SD card
3. Read CID with QMAT
4. Request GoldCard.img with CID
5. Write the goldcard to the SD, by having ActiveSync active, and "Write Image" in QMAT.
6. Reboot to bootloader (I used some tool that is included with the homebrewed "Service Pack, update 4" available for LEO in these forums).
P.S.
Please be careful when selecting a ROM. Some ROMs are pre-release only and may contain a "timebomb". (e.g A previous release of ROM 1.48) If it is a pre-release with "timebomb", the device will lock at a specific date and you won't be able to access anything on your phone or go beyond a simple lockout screen. The only fix would be to flash a new ROM.
Sticking this tutorial for now!
THANKS !!!!!!
Works like a charm!
Thanks and BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
good job mate ! self explanatory tutorial ...!
Viperbjk - Thanks for LEO Goldcard & QMAT
Cmonex - Thanking you for HSPL's (for my Diamond and HD) and for any work you did on this.
Jagnet - Thanks for the tutorial
Have just flashed HTC_Asia_WWE_1.48.707.2 over the top of my UK edition 1.43
Comments on the tutorial - Step 3(d) - I'm not sure you need to replace the leading two characters of the SD CID with zero's as I didn't do this initially, then requested another (with the leading zero's) and the two .img's delivered back to me are identical.
Apart from that - the tutorial worked like a dream - thanks again everyone ...
cmonex - not sure I really want HSPL until 4th January or my wife will be upset at me constantly flashing (the HD2 that is) over the Xmas break so from my point of view take it slowly ...

Doesn't work for me
After an "Update successful" and reboot i get a black screen with this message:

Please reflash the proper ROM code or contact the service centre
I've tried to flash from WWE to Russian
How long have you been waiting for the email (with the image file) to arrive? I've requested it about 4 hours ago (twice) and got nothing so far. Maybe I'm just unlucky

Nice tutorial.
So it should be able to flash an official ROM over a T-Mobile branded one?
I'm asking, because you say "original to original", but also that it's because "cannot flash custom ROMs". =)
Thanks!!!...
a lot for this very good step by step introduction!
Changed from NLD to GER very successfull!!
Nice work!

Worked pretty well ... Thanks for the tutorial and thanks to viperbjk for the goldimage ...
Great work and thanks a lot for this tut, I was going crazy not knowing what to do with my goldcard image.
Thank you for your tut.
I didn't realize that and was going crazy on how to do this work!
Waiting for HSPL now
Thanks for the great tutorial and thanks to everyone else involved with the tools to make this possible. I now have my O2 HD2 running official WWE rom and sim unlocked.
Still have a problem with Orange voicemail icon on the notifications bar, and Orange sending me strange text messages when I try and remove voicemail messages.
Great tutorial, much appreciated, but a small request, Would it be possible to add to, or a separate guide on How to dump/backup our installed Rom ?
It maybe common knowledge for You old hands but I've searched and not found anything on "leo" Rom backup.
Besides it being a good policy to keep a safety backup, I'm sure some of Us may need to revert the Rom if the phone had to be returned for service
Thanks again

Thank you for this guide! The "Norwegian" HTC translation was driving me insane.
I have a HTC ELF 0300 it is stucking in the tri colour screen with the following
IPL: 2.26.0002
SPL:2.28.0000
i have followed the advice i found on this forum of flashing the ROM but when i try the rom update utility it comes up with error 270 about the image also i tried the mtty process but it wont open the usb port
i tried flashing the SD Card but it then says "Invalid Certificate"
i'm a total loss and totally stuck..
any help appricated
Have you really read this sticky thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406721 before flashing ?
Have you used "search" function with f.e. "stuck in bootloader" before posting ?
If not, please do and you'll find very useful solutions
i have read the theads over and over again and finally worked out mtty and worked out my phone is
elf0300
tmob050
it's still in tri colour mode yet i cant find a rom for it...
i tried the nbh file flashing to the memory card
but no luck....
heelllp
Do you know if you have Elf or Elfin?
It is essential for flashing original Rom Elf: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2045325&postcount=2
Elfin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2045051&postcount=1
i haave an elf (p3450) well thats what it says on my box
i cant find the orginal rom for this and i'm totally stuck
any help is greatrully recived
also i have tried CID unlocking it so i can put custom roms on it but my computer wont active sync when the phone is connected through the USB port...
Also, what did you do to get your phone stuck in bootloader in the first place?
my brother did it to my phone before i'd even had chance to use it , and i don't know what he did.....sorry x
Try this and follow the instructions exactly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347700 and report pls
i tried this yesterday at first when i pressed enter i didnt get >cmd (which is what happening now)
then when i do get it eventually after many tries it sasys
cmd55 or something failed
and stays on 0% on a gray screen
sorry if i sound stupiud.
Ok
First you connect your device, then right click on active sync icon on your computer, chose connection settings and change according to the instructions then continue with mtty.exe
i have done this
when i press enter i dont get anything come up....
yesterday i managed to get it up though and just stayed gray screen at 0%
Try again a few times making sure you didn't overlook any detail.
I just found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3395787&postcount=155 possibly mtty version doesn't work
2- Another possibility is unbricker rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446242
3- gold card method (the links are dead so you should pm Dsixda)
Flash from the SD card:
ELF0IMG.nbh on a FAT32 filesystem, complete flash takes about 30 minutes, so check your battery or connect to charger before the flashing process starts.
1. Format microSD card from your computer.
2. Extract the .NBH file from your prefered ROM upgrade: In windows use winrar (right click) to extract the contents of the exe file. In Linux / MacOS use cabextract.
3. Rename the .NBH file to ELF0IMG.nbh and copy it to the root folder of your microSD card.
4. With microSD card inserted in the phone, start the bootloader (the bootloader is invoked by hold down the camera button and reset device with the stylus).
5. Confirm flashing on screen by pressing the power button (or the volume slider down).
6. Flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait.
Will try now and keep u updated
manny thanks x
Follow the instructions until you get cmd only, then return to the tutorial to continue
Good luck
Just an update
i downloaded the nbh file you sugested and tried both
1) flashing from the SD card by renaming file - when i do this is says checking sd contents then goes back to my bootlooder screen
2) running the romupdateutility.exe with the nbh file in the same folder it goes through then i get error 294 incorrect vender
i am unable to pm Dsixda about the gold card
i have no idea what else to try
ps: when running mtty i still get a gray screen then the bootloader screen.
Sorry to hear this, I'm out of ideas. Just some details not to miss:
try a hard reset
writing "ELF0IMG.nbh" (elf zero img and not elf o img)
google for mtty and download a few versions
Wait for an answer from Dsixda for gold card if you can't find your original rom
Creating your GoldCard
I don't remember well the procedure but you can try the following:
If you have access to a working pda or a working GPS device - PNA which is powered by WM (even modified) then you have to follow these steps:
Download this package and save it in your C:\ drive.
Run it.
(it will extract all the necessary files in C:\itsutilsbin (folder) and it will start the setup of Perl)
When the Perl - installation is finished run Perl Package Manager from Windows Start Menu.
Add repositories.
Name: itsme
Location: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/perl/ppm
Name: theoryx
Location: http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/package.xml
(HowTo: run Preferences from the Perl Package Manager menu and switch to the repository tab)
After database synchronization install these packages:
Crypt-DES
XdaDevelopers-NbfUtils
