// Surfin net using phone on my laptop \\

i have tmobile pocket pc phone edition running 2002 and want to surf the web using my phone hooking up to the gprs on it..... i read one or two things supposly telling me how to do it but it never worked..... also can anyone help me out.... i have active sync 3.6 also
My posting should answer your question:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6378
I have yet to check out whether the new T-Mobile 2003 upgrade has the wmodem capability.
well i am on rom 3.14 so i wll try it tonite and hopefully it will work.... thanks though
ok i read it and it said something about a serial cable..... i thought we were able to use the cradle that came with the pocket pc phone to surf on our laptops
I guess you are talking about http://www.xda-developers.com/modem/
I didn't try it so I can't answer it. I have that question too. Try your cradle USB and see if it works. If your ROM has wmodem application, don't bother with the hack; otherwise, try the wmodem.zip in thread posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=27042#27042 I am really counting on this .zip file to work with the new WM2003. I am still waiting for a response.
2 things
- first since i have 3.14 (thts the number it says when i rst it) will that wmodem work with my phone and how do i know if i already have the software or not
- second, i dont have a serial port on the laptop i am using it on anyway so i would have to use a usb converter anyways...... so thts another reason i need to use the cradle..... it should be a way i can use it thru there right
PS.... i read somewhere at that where they thought it would be easy to surf on your laptop if u upgrade to 2003 that it aint true.... tht u in the same situation
wireless modem don't work
I have 4.01.16 ENG. I tray with german wireles modem, but it not working.
PC an MDA comunicate , but they can't conect to my provider (HT-mobile).
that didnt help me either..... is there something i am missing or was everything i needed on that pdf file???? is there another way to do this ????

Help !!! Problems unlocking SX56

O.K. I am new to this and have read many threads, and I still need help!!! I have a Wallaby ROM version A.30.09, Radio Version A.33.02. I bought this off of E-Bay and it is supposed to be Unlocked. Of course the original SIM card was from AT&T. I am trying to use my Rogers AT&T card and I keep on getting the message "Please input unlock code SID:"
I first used the XDAunlock program on my first Rogers Sim card and after many attempts using it, I was able to get the SIM card to work and I could make calls and receive them. The second day that it was working, I had to do a soft reset and then it asked for the unlock code again. Anyway I supposedly cooked that SIM card and Rogers supplied me with another. Now I cannot use the phone again.
I have downloaded the XDA special edition ROM, but I cannot get this program to work, it will run and when my Wallaby is Sync'd using the cradle, the program keeps telling me that the power is not supplied to it.
I recently bought a serial cable for this thing and I have run the XDA manipulator program and it says that it does not have a SID lock.
I have tried to find just the Special Edition ROM to add onto my SD card, but I cannot find just that program.
Any advice would be grateful !!!
If the phone was unlocked to rogers when you used it previously then it will still be unlocked. Is it definitely now asking for sid code and not the sim security code for your rogers sim?
It is definitely asking for a SID unlock code. Everytime I try to turn flightmode off it asks me for the code.
did you make sure that ur xda is fully charged 100%? that might be why it says its low on power
Power seems to be another one of my problems...I check the status of the battery while it is plugged into the cradle and it says:
Battery power remaining: Unknown
When I take it off the cradle and do a soft reset, then it tells me that the power is 100%.
The battery light never comes on though. And if it does then the phone works. I wonder if this is a battery problem !!!
Found that my battery was not the problem, it was the charger going from the wall to the cradle. It was charging the battery, but not enough. the one that was supplied for my Siemens SX56 docking station was a Nokia charger only putting out 3.5v. I found another charger I had laying around that put out 4.5v. As soon as I hooked it up, my battery light instantly came on. So I ran the XDA special edition software, and it worked great. I can now use my phone.
AWESOME PROGRAM !!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!

Flash a branded phone?

Hi All,
I am new to this site and the idea of Flashing firm ware.
Here is my situation
I have a TYTN II on the UK Orange network . A friend of mine has the same phone SIM free and it is much quicker with the HTC firmware. So I would like to flash my firmware. Can I do this myself and what do I need to do it.
Also does anyone know a good cradle that will allow the following.
Charge on USB only (mains as well)
Charge a spare batter at the same time
When in the cradle be able to make and receive calls on hands free and Bluetooth.
Remain in a case whilst in the cradle. If I need a special case which one.

Radio Bricked Uni - worth anything to anyone?

Boxed, mint condition M5000 - charger, 2 x stylus, box and manuals, probably has the original USB lead somewhere, extended and standard batteries and covers in good condition, pouch. No/minimal wear on casing, screen protector, all in very good shape.
Only problem is that the Radio ROM cannot be reflashed; CID locked and corrupted (thanks, I think, to choosing to install WM6 then wanting to go back to WM5 with the official Orange distro specifically because my machine wasn't CID unlocked, and Jwright's ROMs are CID-friendly it seemed). Everything else works fine, it's currently happy running T-Mobile WWE 2.0 something.
My thoughts are:
TO AVOID BRICKING YOUR PHONE DO NOT FLASH RADIO IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO.
Can I repeat that? I am SURE if I had just downloaded the T-Mobile ROMs and used the CID-bypassed RUU, then I would have a perfectly working device still.
Anyway. Is this worth anything to anybody? I'm either going to eBay it or kill it in an amusing fashion if no-one here wants it - I can't claim on house insurance because I just claimed for a laptop (everything goes wrong at once). It'd be a fine spares machine for someone with a cracked screen (or if anyone has one with a cracked screen and flashable ROM...).
It was no longer network locked - I got the unlock code from Orange.
Have you tried using task 28 55aa? Or an XP machine? If yo u cant get it to work, I would be interested in it since I need the antennae part. LMK.
Um, didn't you actually read the initial post/response to post about the radio being bricked? I was using an XP machine all along, only it's an iMac running XP - I tried a regular (well, FlipStart PC) running XP.
I've tried every single solution on this and other forums and it isn't the computer I'm using that is causing the headache. I don't know how the CID becomes corrupted, but it's CID-locked with no recognisable CID, and the CID-bypass updaters also fail. I think the Hermes/HardSPL "forced" route would work (I would even try setting up a VM with Linux and hoping for the best with that), but there is no equivalent for the Universal.
I'd like to sell the whole lot - I also have a car holder/charger/windscreen mount for it as I was using it with TomTom Nav 5. The antenna would presumably be cheaper as a part than I'd hope to get for the extended battery, holder and other intact parts. Not sure, though!
Am looking for a good case (shell) for my exec as mine is getting tatty.
Want to sell the whole thing as is with damaged radio for £20+postage?
Pm Me if interested.
Psi
It's working fine as a VGA-res, WiFi and Bluetooth equipped Windows Mobile PDA with a keyboard and extended battery, so I'm not going to sell it for £20. If that is all it is worth, then I'll put it back in the box and wait until someone has a solution, I find someone who needs a WM5 PDA, or I find one with a smashed screen!
I've seen new cases for sale on eBay, though, I think for $39.
I think the last option would be to flash the radio using the SD. If you could find somebody willing to back up the radio to their SD and you could try it that way. Sorry couldn't help much but goodluck!
I think the backup would help, but Pof asked for just such backups and none were volunteered; I think that because the command to back up the Flash requires the same access as writing the ROM in the first place, and the procedure for this involves basically writing your own keygen (essentially - someone's done it, I saw a routine, probably on Buzzdev or the Wiki here) and of course... having access to the source.
Which without a SuperCID device isn't that handy.
I think that the radio /is/ trashed, pure and simple, as the part that holds this ID probably also hides the IMEI, and HTC aren't about to give that out in a hurry as being able to change the IMEI means being able to unblock stolen handsets and so forth. After all, the permission to update the ROM is generated from the area containing IMEI, CID and so forth as I understand it - they're not changed by normal ROM flashing procedures. However the SIMLock tools worked, I thought they patched the Radio ROM, not any of the stuff that contains critical ID information.
There will be a mechanism to get this into the machine - HTC must have it - but I don't think anyone on XDA Developers or Buzzdev has access to that information or the tools required (even if they did have the info and could share it, I suspect we mere mortals wouldn't have the tools to implement the solutions).
It is very frustrating. But for now, I've charged the device, packed it away in the original box, and I'll forget it exists for a while. I still have my Ameo and iPhone, after all (and the Ameo is a great gadget, the iPhone is a much better "device to use" - if you see what I mean about phone sizes and real-world use) - the Universal was going to be passed on when I wanted to fix the bugs, as I know someone who desperately wants an E90 and I thought she should try the Uni first.
I remember backing on SD with my wizard but it writes it in a RAW format. It could be converted in a readable file so it could be sent as a file instead of sending the SD card. Then the file can be converted to Raw format again.
If interested. I could try it on my o2 xda and have it sent to you. LMK.
How would you convert to a raw format and write to the card again for reading in the Universal? I'd definitely be interested in that! Even if it doesn't work, it's something else tried, and Pof might find it useful to have a raw dump done too.
OK..will try to read on the instructions tomorrow and will look for an extra sd card to dump the radio rom. I will be dumping 1.15 radio rom.
I tried backing up my radio but is says "Not Allow Operation". Anyways, there is a file with a backup radio 1.14 in ftp. Here is the link
ftp://xda:[email protected] 114/Universal-dump-radio-1.14.10.img.gz
Here is the thread where the person uploaded the file.

mda tmobile need help

Unit will not wifi. We have other units that wifi. There is a test website for HTC. It requires a id and pw for the test site. Also HTC has a 128mg test porgram to test all functions. Please advise
i also have the same problem with wifi on my o2 xda mini-s. based on what i read it has something to do with the router signal whether its wireless b, wireless g or can support both (wireless b/g)
usually today i think most router is wireless g therefore phones with wireless b capability cannot connect to wireless g routers. and my phone before doesnt even work with router wireless b/g. Maybe we have similar problem.
i think there is a registry hack somewhere..
there i found it.
or what i did was flashed a new rom that has already did the registry hack.
i can connect to wifi now
cheers
Dear Janil, thanks for all your help. We have extra mda tmobiles for parts etc. Is the wifi a software program or hardware? The wifi works on our backup mda, but the wifi does not work on this unit.
The issue with the backup mda tht can wifi is the plug to the mda to charge the unit broke off and does not work. We are always running on the battery. Can we use CA glue to put the plug back in the mda? We tried solder that did not work. Any suggestion would be apprecated.
If you want the service manual. We are looking for the sofware test program that HTC service companies have.
Please email us at [email protected] aol.com. We will email it back. It's on PDF.
Also what new rom are you using? We would like to upgrade to 6.5 or higher. We used x2h_wm6.5_v4.8C rom. Nice program uses a exe file instead of the steps unlock etc. That is when we lost the wifi capibilities. Please advise
first make sure that the phone has a wifi adapter (hardware) but hearing its a mda tmobile (i assume its a HTC wizard model) i think it has already wifi capability by nature. its either the hardware for wifi is broken. test it if you can detect a router signal. if you can detect a router signal then there is hope.
by the way i used TnT series by it's right. though its windows mobile 6.1
you can find it here.
after i flashed the rom i didnt need to do the registry hacks for wifi.
my phone instantly can connect to a router.
mba tmobile need help.
Dear jenil, thanks for all your help. downloading tnt as we email.
If wifi hardware, what is the part number. remember we have the service manual.
would you like the service manual so we can be on the same page when we ask for the part number.
mda tomobile need help
Dear Jenil, any suggestions for fixing the broken charger plug on the backup mda. Is it better to use CA glue or solder. Please advise
i am not sure what is good for fixing the broken charger. i do not have enough knowledge with regards to hardware things. but i guess someone here can advise you with that.
nonetheless try the rom if ever it would fix your wifi problem with your t-mobile.
one more thing, if it would be your first time flashing a rom then i think you would need this.
Flashing incorrectly may result to bricking/damaging a phone..

Dear Janil, thanks
