Hi
I got a european qtek wich I upgraded with the Tmobile and now trying to use it in the US. I cannot get it work. I tried both switching to band 1900 in the phone application and in the boot thingy. Radio is completely dead. Radio wakes up if I go back to 900-1800 but does not work with 1900. Anybody have any expirience of this.I am in the states right now on vacation so I would appriciate any input.
Regards
Lasse
QTEK is only 900/1800 GSM. It cannot work with 1900. Software switch does not check hardware capability of the phone

Interesting!
What if he upgraded the radio stack to a US version 900/1900 would his results be the same?

All,
Recently upgrade to WM2003 Using Jeff's Kitchen - As reported by other posts, the Signal display is poor to erratic although actual reception seems good. Has anyone resolved this irritating issue by identifying a newer European RSU version or are we all waiting for the XDA II Radio versions update?. I tried the new WM2003 US versions to no avail as they seem to only poll the 1900 Network and GSM 900/1800 option in the Bootloader only hard resets the device. Hence a downgrade back to the 4.21.
Thanks - please advise
Al

I'm using ATT's Radiostack and wm2003 with my T-Mobile and having no problems. In fact, I've never had a clearer tone and no problems with reception. Granted the signal indicator is falty....
If I keep T-Mobile's stack however I get a lot of noise and chatter in the background. (USA, Michigan region)
Just upgraded to ATT's Radiostack from T-mobile 6.24, and noticed, that this radiostack do not show me provider name. I see only "home service" in this corner.
Any suggestions ?
K_Dima,
This is the reason why I downgraded to 4.21. The home service does not even have an Icon for GPRS availability - which is a tad annoying. Anyway the reason for the original post is the signal indicator problem with WM2003/RS 4.21 - The Indicator light flashes fine to say there is a signal but alas the signal indicator shows Zero bars.
Thanks
Al

T-mobile V6.24 is buggy radio stack!
it cannot display non-T-mobile network correctly.
I'm in Canada, every time I search or log on my local GSM network (Microcell-FIDO or Rogers). it tells my I'm on T-mobile network.
it is best to download (v6.18 or 6.08 ) or move to AT&T radio stack (A20) to resolve all problems

I replaced my buggy T-mobile 6.24 , that shows my Network Name, to ATT'S
latest Stack, that works fine, but don't show Network Name as was on T-Mobile Stack.

Go to phone setting, try to manual search network to see if you could find and display correct network. Although it is not matter.

I did so, but still no luck , i see only "home service" at the end of "Network Selection / Register on Network" process, but phone works fine, ATT's stack is more stable than T-Mobile 6.24

Not that I'm having any problems with my current Radio Version (RSU 4.21) but is there a better and newer version to be used for "Asia" aside from this?
It is best not to change your Radio stack!
I have an XDAI running on 4.01.16 ENG Rom and 6.25.02 Radio.
So far the sms and call functions work perfectly. But I'm having a hard time on the Globe GPRS and MMS settings. I can seem to connect. Globe already gave me the settings but I doesnt work on me. I don't know if that is because of my radio version.

6.25.02 Radio stack is for USA version XDA only (GSM 900/1900), not work 4.xx radio stack XDA (GSM900/1800)

cgigate: I do have the 900/1900 XDA. The Philippine has 900/1800 Network, so my device should work on the 900 Network. So my device should work (GPRS and MMS) right?

Yes, it should work on GSM 900 band in Philippine.
if you change your 900/1900 XDA (T-mobile USA R:6.xx or Siemens R:Axx) to use GSM 900/1800 radio stack (Version 4.xx), your XDA GSM dead forever!
cgigate: Great. I wonder why my XDA cant connect to GPRS and MMS when my settings are correct.

if the GPRS setting is correct, you should connect to GPRS.
some service providers cannot provide full data service (HTML browser).
you need contact your service provider to double check the setting.
Yea I'm sure my settings are correct. I got the settings from my service provider. I already checked the settings several times. I always got the following message when I connect to GPRS:
"Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your nanufacturer's documentation and try again."
Hi,
is it possible to make the sx56 or tmobile ppc phone (normally 900/1900) work on the european 1800 mhz networks as well :?:
Thank you
Yes, you need to change it in the bootloader. Just select the one that has got the band you need. Don't try to change it in the phone settings, or it won't work.
Are you sure ?
I tried what you mention and it does not connect to Telstra...
I am running a 6.25 radio and an 4.01.16 TMO rom with a 5.17 bootloader.
I tried both 900 stand alone and 900/1800 but it did not work.
Any other trick ?
Thanks,
Bob.
so, has anyone ever succeeded with activating the 1800 mhz?
It's all depending on the device type ... PW10A works only for 900/1800 ... and PW10B works only for 900/1900 .... don't try the impossible!!! ... or you may permanently damage the RSU part!!!
better to get XDA II ... it's tri-band
well, I'm planning to buy one on ebay. how can I make sure, which one it is. what should I ask the seller to look for?
Thanks
is 900/1900 not only in America ?
in that case you should ask the seller to look at his address
ok, my question is if it's possible to make the american version 900/1900 to work on 1800 mhz
most countries in EU have both 900 and 1800 support
here is a list not sure if its 100% uptodate though but i doubt people are limiting the support

Yes, only if the network supports 900 MHz
Zsilak, it will work on 900 but not on 1800.
announces my MDA I (4.01.19/3.23.11/32S54) after cooking. My Provider is O2.
Has anyone a useful hint?
Thx.

What is the question?
Looks like the good old problem, that the 4.01.19 ROM sets the GSM band to 900/1900
You have to enter the bootloader and set your band manually back to 900/1800.
Since O2 uses only 1800 MHz this should be your problem....
Pay Attention Entering bootloader does the same like a hard reset. All data will be gone...

O2 in my country UK uses only 900 mhz, is this different elsewhere?

I've got a problem with the Blue Angel.
It seems to be default stuck on 900/1800 band and the provider I use is on 850/1900 and idea on how to default it to 850/1900 so I don't have to keep searching? I am running Radio Rom 1.15 and WM6 V3.02 W141 Is there a program anywhere I can dl to switch bands manually?

I think SKTools allows you to select bands. I can't remember exactly as I haven't used that in a very long time, but I do think it had that option. Give it a shot and you may be successful!
