I updated my XDA from ROMkitchen 3.17.03 to T-Mobile 4.00.10 with the radio upgrade to 6.24. I also had to update my ActiveSync to ver 3.7.
I didn't want the mumbo-jumbo that came with 4.00.10 and I wanted to get ROMkitchen 4.00.05, but it would not allow the connection. When I execute ROMkitchen 4.00.05, I get this error message below:
“error: GetConnectionType – An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
error getting connection”
My ActiveSync (ver 3.7) is still connected. Any suggestions?
-Thanks
I think you should try to downgrade the RUU via SD card method and the WALLABY bootloader. I used that method while testing 4.00.10 ENG and my original 3.19.03GER http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/
Chris
downgrade Microsoft ActiveSync ithink the XDArit will only work with 3.6 ActiveSync

I upgraded my ROM to ROMKitchen ver 4.00.11 ENG (WM2003). I want to downgrade to 3.17 ENG. Is there any way to do it directly by ActiveSync?
T-Mobile ROM's do not allow you to use Programme A to downgrade ROMS. This effectively means that running any setup program using activesync will result in a communications error. The only way to do it is by Flashing the ROM using the bootloader method.
4.00.11 is not a T-Mobile ROM. you shouild be able to go to Jeff's ROMKitchen and build yourself a 3.17.00 exe and just run it.
ROM 3.17 - Infrared problem
I have Qtek, not Tmobile, but anyway, I managed to flash with 3.17.03 obtained from Jeff's kitchen. Everything is working just fine, except infrared port. It just would not work. Infrared Receive program says unable to establish infrared connection while mobile device is conected to the desktop. The beam files doesn't work either. Can anybody suggest remedy?
hi,
I've XDA I with RUU tmobile 4.0.1and RSU 4.21
I'm trying to return to original o2 rom
I've cooked from rom kitchen t-mobile 2003 ruu rom
When I launch exe file the pc give me this error:
"ERROR: GetDeviceData - An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
error getting devicedata"
and then
"ERROR 011: EXECUTE REMOTE COMMUNICATION PROGRAM ERROR. Cannot execute the remote communication program. Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is properly connected."
I've try to put nb1 file on sd card with image tool but my device has bootloader 5.17 and it doesn't work!
As I've installed t-mobile 4.01, the phone part of the device doesn't work (I've accidentaly swith to 1900, my sim card support only 900/1800 and here in italy there's no 1900 net)
Anyone knows other methods to load ruu from sd or can help me to resolve activesync error?
So whats the reason for you wanting to downgrade, is it because your radio is no longer working?
If thats the case you just need to up/downgrade your radio stack, on
that note I suggest you upgrade to the Qtek 1010 Radio Stack.
The Qtek 1010 Radio Stack Upgrade can be found at:
http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads/asiapacific.htm
Download Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
Note: Last time I checked the the above file came with both the ROM and Radio upgrade, so just use the one for the radio.

I had the same problems you did, without wanting to steal anyone's thunder, my thread here : http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3860 deals with those issues and points you to the threads where easy answers can be found. I also operate off 900/1800 and have the info in that thread on how to change back from 900/1900 to 900/1800. Let us know if there's anything there that gets you stumped.
Don't play with RUU unless someone who knows what they're really talking about advises that you should for good reason.
My phone was upgraded to 4.00.21 beta and today i just download the new version 4.01.00 to upgrade my phone (XDA 1)
BUT..
While I'm upgrading I foud this error.
Error 011 : Execute remote communication program error
Cannot execute the remote communication program, Please make sure that the USB/SErial cable is properly connected.
(But I can Syncronize with my PC and can explore my XDA)
Why? How can I fix it?
PS. I was download 4.01.00 by type of .EXE I can't use SD Card Upgrade Method because i can't downgrade bootloader from 5.17 to 5.15
Thank you
there is a patch for 5.17 that should be applied before flashing ... simple search on the forum and u will find the topic (i think the author is pdhenry)
The same thing.
Hi !
I have a problem like you, but XDA 1 cannot syncronize with PC. I don't know how to fix it and no one can help me. I suppost that some one can help me to fix this problem.
Thanks,
I have upgarded long time back my Qtek to T-mobile test only ROM.
ROM version 4.00.21
ROM date 8/11/03
Radio version 4.210.00
protocol version 32S54
it is begomming very slow plus the reception of teh phone is so bad.
am trying to change teh ROM version but the system is giving me this error please help:
ERROR: GetDeviceData - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
cannot execute the remote communication program. please make sure that the usb/serial cable is properly connected
Tmobile ROMs can't be flashed through USB .. you have to use SD methode.
This slowness is a known bug in older WM2003 ROMs ... either to use a recent ROM like 4.01.16 or A30.09 .... or to install the fix named "clear_notify.exe" in your \windows\startup directory
Bad signal could be out of the RSU 4.21 ... depends on your network and the device type you can use a better RSU ... but it's a very risky action!!!
Hi, I am very new to this hardware , I surfed this forum for two days tried to upgrade using Special Edition 1.2 ROM but when I run the program, it gives me following error and nothing happen.
ERROR: GetConnectionType - An existing connection was forcibly close remote host
Error getting connectiontype.
I used different computes another laptop but same problem, please HELP.
I am using Activesync 3.7 as 3.5 does not get connected.
Here is my phone detail
Hardware PW10B1
ROM Version 4.01.16 ENG
ROM date : 02/04/04
Radio Version : 6.25.02
Protocol Version : 32464
ROM 4.01.16 does not allow downgrading via Exe-Method.
You have to flash your device via SD-Card and Bootloader.

Hello, but I thought some of the users in this forum did unlock without using SD card, may be I am wrong.
One more request what type of SD card XDA takes, either plain SD card or SD/MMC card.
Help appriciated.
