Try deleting the stk.ink from your Startup folder.

I had these problems with 4.00.01 and 05, but the latest ROM seems much more stable.

Do you think ROM version 4.00.10 better than 4.00.05 :?: :?:
OK I will try it to day
Thanks

Hi there,
Just a friendly warning:
Watch out if you want to upgrade to T-Mobile 4.00.10. If your device happens to be used with T-Mobile as a the service provider, most probably it’s going to be OK. But, if you are using it for other than T-Mobile, please re-consider!!!!!! You are going to loose the ability to update your ROM using Activesync (*.exe).

keep in mind that you can't downgrade from 4.00.10 using the exe files. you need to use the SD card method.

I just done with ROM 4.00.10
I have the same problems but now I try to fix...
Thanks for your advices

I'm using v 4.00.05. However I see this one there are some bugs, no stable. I'm going to back v 4.00.01 and remove stk.ink in Startup folder.
I'll not ugrade to v 4.00.10. I fear I'll not up or downgrade by exe.
I see v 4.00.01 is more stable
Any idea?

What is the Latest reliable ver of PPC2003

I have OZONE PPC2003 ver 3.04.00 and radio ver 4.21.
What are the most up-to-date reliable versions now that can be upgraded using the SDROM method. If you have links to these ROMS please let me know also.
I would suggest a 4.00.05 based ROM from thisROMkitchen.

Because when I posted it 4.00.10 wasn't in the kitchen yet...
So is 4.00.10 as stable as 4.00.05 then ?
Also I have seen people saying they cannot get a signal when using Orange with this rom, anyone got any experience with that ?
Cheers

Well, I'm not on Orange, so I wouldn't know, but they both work for me.
I don't easily envision provider-related differences in signal reception between PDA ROM versions, this would be more of a thing that would depend on RSU (Radio Stack) version in my mind.
As for upgrading from .05 to .11 (or 10 to 16), I would say the differences are pretty minimal, I still use 4.00.05 on the phone I actually use, and I see no real difference with the 4.00.11 on my experiment-phone.

No I haven't. But I must say my large 128 MB Sandisk is not often in there these day, I usually have an 8MB with the write-protect on in there because I often need to re-install something we're working on, and I don't want the automatic delete of the CAB files.
Rom update to 2003
 :?: Would you advise to upgrade from the developers rom to a kitcken cooked rom 2003? If so, version wm2003 .05 or .11 (I live in The Netherlands)
I tried it once but then my XDA, when turned off, did not react anymore to my on-switch-button, also at one time the divice told me that I had insufficient memory on my SD card, which had in fact still 180MB' left, saying it was locked. Eventually found the rom kitchen for the 17.03 version. And was lucky to be able to downgrade it again..Had to reinstall everything and had to format my SD card. What a bummer....
I reackon it was due to software faulty installation???
When using the wm .05 on your device, did you encounter such an event?
I miss the 2003 dual function of my speaker-button and the extra features on the mailer (listing contacts on tapping just a few letters) and the calender extension on the today sceen....
When backing up, installing the ROM wm2003, pending your advice, and recover.... should everything work as it will now?
Awaiting your responce...

I had uploaded the file to XDA-developers ftp, You might want to wait for the RomKitchen page after they have upload there.
Good luck.
the bootloader contained in this rom (v6.22) has a protection similar to what
is in v5.17 : DO NOT USE IT.
better extract the os image, and then flash it with osimagetool.
the os rom is very similar to v3.17.03
these are the only files that have changed:
AutoConfig.exe Backup.exe USSD.exe device.exe filesys.exe gwes.exe nk.exe stk.exe
commdlg.dll coredll.dll ddi.dll fatfs.dll irsir.dll keybddr.dll ne2000.dll pcmcia.dll rilgsm.dll sd.dll serial.dll serial2.dll serial3.dll toolhelp.dll touch.dll usb.dll wavedev.dll

Woo... Luckly I haven upgrade the RUU, Only flash the RSU but in 1% fail went flashing, Anyway manage to tackle that problem and completed the flashing.
Is there any possibility that the RUU included the engaged tone missing in others OS? Hope to See it at Romkitchen soon.
Hello OCMAX,
I ahve beent "tackling" the RSU stopping at 1% for 3 days now without any success
Intially I thought it is the 5.22 bootloader causing the problem. Now I have 5.15 but still the same problem.

Try this. After your Had sync with your PC (even the 1% screen pop-out from Your Unit it still can sync with your PC) copy this file to your PPC windows dir
MONITO~1.002
MONITO~1.003
This 2 file is in the programme B, just extract to a folder then U can find it.
after tranfer this file do a softreset or press ok from the 1% fail pop-out windows.(OK).
Good luck.
Thanks for the quick reply,

Did you remove your Sim card? Upgrading or downgrading? which version RSU you have? After the fail upgrade did U do any hard reset?
I did remove the SIM.

I didn't do a hard rest , should I?
Thanking you for the help

Yes! if U really stuck on the 1% screen everytime U do the soft reset.
It will bring U back to the previous RSU.
I see. Formatting did that for me also.
What I am trying now is to get rid of the previous RSU?
Is 4.16 considered a downgrade compared to 3.23 , I know nymbers are meaning less here since they are not done by one entity.
ANy solution now? If not, what other RSU can I try and where to download it from?
THXXXXX
will, it is a downgrade even it has a higher number
"verison date
4.16 ---- ---- 6.16 02-11-15
3.23 4.20 A.20 6.23 03-03-17 "
So I am sure many have tried to downgrade their RSU and faced the same problem of "falsh failed" after 1%
PLEASE, what is/was the solution?
OCMAX, what is the RSU that you had and what is the one you up/down graded to?

Hello,
I am using 900/1800
I don't need the RSU 4.21
I have 3.25 and want 4.16, all the new ones are giving me trouble where I am now.
So, I am just trying to go around the downgrading problem.
You seem to have overcome it, so what RSU did u have and what did u downgrade it to?

I had the same problem downgrading before from UK 4.21 to 3.17. And my upgrade is from UK 4.21 to Asian 4.21, Went I flash the rom it fail also.
I'm using 900/1800 also. And the newest RSU for this is 4.21 asian and is very stable after the upgrade. I had waited for this new RSU for sometime. Give me your e-mail address, I can send to U if U are interested.
Thank you OCMAX for the file. I did install it and I face the same problem with 1% instlation and the system reboot, may be because I did not remove the USB cable only after the upgrade begin. Any how I did follow the step you mintion by moveing the two files to the Windows dir and it works. it seems better phone singnal and I can see the G leeter for GPRS working. my system now:
ROM version 4.00.11
ROM date 06/23/03
Radio version 4.21.00
Protoccal version 32S554
Thanks again
The RSU is the same as the european upgrade right? everything seems to be similar.
wow! i didn't get the 1% hang! worked flawlessly, the upgrade that is. will test the actual calls/sms/what nots in a while.

You may use any ROM Updgrade, you may even want to cook your own ROM, but please do not think of performing a radio stack upgrade if your present radio is working well and giving you a trouble free service.
Hi guys,
I 'm in same situation but with higher versions, and can hardly wait to get a new 2003 ROM.
I can't just play with my XDA as I use it all the time for work and it's pretty stable so far. I just also can't tell that the ROM is 'totally' separate from the RUU in WM2003.
So the question is: is there any one here who has gone through a 2003 upgrade for Qtek 1010 to tell us his thoughts after the upgrade ?
I read a lot about the stability of 4.00.16 ENG, but all been written was for O2 R4.21 or T-Mobile R6.xx. Did any one in this region (Mid East) with R 3.2x went into this upgrade ? and what is the current status ?
Thanx all ....
Latest ...
I tried upgrading to 4.00.11 ENG from the kitchen ... no matter how many trys it just restarts and gives the same error message "Can't open USB/com port ..." ...
Do I miss anything ??
more update ...
Tried to cook the new ROM as .nb1 file and used Xdatools from the kitchen to flash my device .... same result :?
Is it possible that there is a ROM protection on my XDA ???

Hi Biso007,
Look at the IDIOTS GUIDE at:
http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3171
and follow the instructions thoroughly one by one and you can't go wrong, it did work for me, I was in the same situation.
Samohile - Thanks. It is good advice to not mess with the radio if you can help it.
My only problem is that my device periodically shuts off. Then pressing the power button soft boots it. I cant tell for sure but it seems that this happens after an incoming or missed call. It seems that other friends using ROM 3.18.04 and Radio 3.25.01 (like our friend biso007 here) seem to have very stable systems.
I can try upgrading the ROM only and see what happens but the information at www.carrierdevices.com seems to imply that both ought to be upgraded at the same time. I notice it is an Australian site. Does that matter? Also, the version of the radio upgrade is a bit confusing, at least from its name. (Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe] ). I wonder what this RSUv1.15 translates into since the name of the exe file for the ROM is nicely descriptive of the version (3.18.04).
Any advice in this would be very welcome..
Well i am using WM2003 4.00.11 and its working fine for me no problem i cooked in the kitchen you just need to read arround this great forum for a whgile on topics such as upgrades and ROM to know exactly what you are dealing with and then you will able to upgrade smoothly.
Hi ARZLEB
I read lots and lots about upgrade lessons but none of them worked for me .... I got an advice to use SD card with bootloader as it's the only working way. Now I wonder why the EXE method was created!!
I see that u got the 4.00.11 working. Did u upgrade it using EXE or SD card. Any help would be so appreciated ... thnx
Well i used the EXE methode the file i cooked in the Kitchen but i didnt change the version i left as 3 at the bottom of the page it works fine i upgraded from 3.XX to 4.XX then i downgraded from 4.00.11 to 4.00.05 then upgraded again all using EXE format so far working great.
i will be honest with you i know about the SD methode very well but never tried it so u have to make more search on this issue.
If you need anything more plz message me anytime and i will be more then whilling to help you step by step...

Faisal sorry for very late reply.
I have flashed my Qtek (bought in Abu Dhabi) with several versions of roms cooked in kitchens (Jeff's and Stefans's), but I have finally settled with ATT release wm2003 Siemens SX56 upgrade. It comes with most of the bugs fixed (except multiple reset bug) and is quite stable. I almost never have to reset it. You can flash the ROM only by SD card method though. You can try it. It's always a good idea to flash using SD card method. USB method using ProgramA is not very safe. I guess the network in Pakistan is compatible with the one in the UAE, so you can safely use it, if you don't mess up with the Radio Stack. My Radio is 3.23.01 and I have no problems with that.

ROM upgrade in Australia

I just want WM2003 on my XDA. I tried installing 4.00.05 but got the white screen of death. Does anyone know if the Seimens SX56 ROM will work on my phone? I plan not to **** with the radio stack.
Just want a O/S that's newer and not as buggy as the original 3.21 that I had.
I miss my working XDA, it's been 2 long weeks and I finally get my MMC card back so I can flash.
Anyone in Australia got 4.00.05 working or WM2003? Which version you running if so?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
you didn't tell what's your device type and how the 4.00.05 failed.
I'm not sure the MMC can be used instead of SD card, but if yes, then i may advice you to cook a new 4.00.05 ROM at yorch.net and select the .nbf file method. move the file to your MMC card using the XDAtools and flash your xda through the boot loader.
good luck.
My device type was a:
PW10A
3.20.06 ENG (ROM)
3.21 (Radio)
But after trying to install with an EXE self installer became:
G32S54
4.00.05 (ROM)
R4.21.00 (Radio)
One thing I have worked out about the EXE self installers is that they will extract a NBF file to a directory, in C:\Program Files\Programme A\English
so therefore, whichever version you download in a self extracting file contains the NBF file that's required.

The Radio part shouldn't be affected by this upgrade!.
4.00.05 works just fine. The 4.01.00 and AT&T release ROM are even better (except for the stupid noise attenuation everyone's working to try and defeat).
Never(!) use the .exe method for upgrade, you have a much greater chance of it screwing your XDA. Also, according to your post you weren't messing with the radio, but by using the .exe upgrade you have inadvertantly upgraded the radio. 4.21 is the same version as O2 released for Australia, but I'm not quite sure if you're running the T-Mobile version now? As far as I know you can screw up upgrading your ROM as much as you like using the SD method because you can always whack the SD back in and start again, the bootloader is intact and the radio is intact.
I guess if you use the .exe update method from your manufacturer's release, at least you'll have some recourse in that you were only following what they said to do for the upgrade and they will probably fix it.
Use the SD upgrade method to fix your current problem, and you may need to use the Wallaby patch to do that. Good luck.

Use A.30.09, it's the only release version out there. All other versions are beta and have their problems. The only headache with A.30.09 is volume attenuation, but either soon we'll have a fix, or soon another manfucturer will make a release public so we can switch over (hopefully) without that annoyance.

Which Radio Stack is the best to use in Australia?
Howdy,
Another quick question. Which Radio Stack is the better one to use? The QTek 1010 Radio Stack v3.25.01 (32S54) or the O2 XDA Radio Stack v4.21 (32S54)?

Speed of BA w/WM2003?

By virtue of my 2 x XDAII's failing for whatever reasons (abuse, long-life, etc.), I had to shift to one of my XDAII's (BA) with base OS:
=======================================
WM2003 SE
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0)
Processor: Intel(R) PXA263
Memory: 125.77 MB
ROM v.: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM v: 1.40.923 WWE
Model No.: PH20B
=================================
I have found that this phone is WAY SLOWER than the XDAII - it's really incredibly slow! (And I had my XDAII with less RAM available!)
I have had problems connecting in Mumbai (India) with Vodafone (this happens with other units (EDGE modem/XDAII) too, but this is *extreme*!
I have to shut off the radio (put into flight mode) then back on, in order to connect to GPRS, or it simply will not connect!
I have tried flashing the ROM for the radio to 1.15, but I have to edit the file on the unit, else I get the error - it's really very time-consuming!
I'm afraid that all my time that I put into this unit will go to waste if I do not have a stable unit that I can rely on....
Any feedback on this?
Thanks!
Try the T-Mobile's rom or PDA2K's rom in Blue Angel Upgrading section.
The O2 rom bugs me too much.
Also install O2 Asia upgrade (I guess u r running a non asian one thats why BA isnt showing compatibility with ur network. Try upgrading to WM5/6 and see if u have luck on GSM/GPRS since majority of asian networks phail with BA WM5/6/6.1/6.5

Try the T-Mobile's rom or PDA2K's rom in Blue Angel Upgrading section.
The O2 rom bugs me too much.

Yes, it's the O2 ROM - not sure if this one was the one I bought in SIN or in the UK...any ideas, or way to tell?
Both were O2 branded....

Which is the best upgrade (simplest) to do, stable, with almost no bugs, with a similar to original config/options?
TIA!
well first of all if you want less bugs do not install the OEM crapware (the extrom software) you may even resize the extrom partition to 128 k to use the space as storage
http://alevri.atspace.com/ - updated Shipped roms list and mirrors which i will keep online
My advice is to flash the latest t-mobile 1.42 rom delete radio and extrom update files and flash rom only

Wow - thanks for the tips - wonderful to have the gurus of the BA helping us!
So, how does one delete the radio files?
I unzipped and extracted, then ran the .exe file, which started the RUU update.

Why can't you? Keep in mind that you can only do this only in 2003. So, from what I have read in your other posts you are either in 6.1 or in 6.5 (going back to 6.1). You have to use the Repart_doc and the ExtRom Unlocker tools in order to do so.
Aside from everything, I have been using xplode's version of 6.5 and I am pretty happy with it (both stability and usability)-wise.
If you are absolutely disgusted by it, you should try sun_dream's 20578. Best 6.1 that I have had...
Hope this helps.
