Operator Logo with SE Rom - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Has anybody figured out how to change the operator logo?
The registry hack doesn't work on Dutch O2 roms....
Can it be done using mkrom?
Thanks in advance.....

hi,
the xda seems to switch the logo depending on the location the xda is used (seems to be hardcoded)
i found a solution in another tread and used it for myself in the following way:
if there is a carrierlogo.gif in your \windows\ directory it will be used as Logo....
the automatic "logo finding mechanism" of the xda replaces or removes it depending on your current provider. So you have to make sure that it can't be replaced or deleted (by setting the readonly property or by adding it to your personal SER11 ROM)
regards,
Fidl

Thanks i'll give it a try...

connection settings file?

Hello!
I am tring to find any file in which I could
change the connection settings permanently
to create a ROM for a Spaniard operator
from an O2 English one. Someone could
give me any clue?
Thanks
Changed
I solved it by making a dumprom to a Telefónica ROM and by coping three registry entries:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations\Opeartor_name]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\PROVIDERS\...CLSID...\Connections\Operator_name]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\Operator_modem_name or operator_name]
You have to use specific Operator_name, Operator_modem_name and CLSID which depend on your specific ROM.

AKU2.2 will re-enable clock in Title Bar

http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/04/28/586453.aspx
On the WM Team Blog they address the reaction to the nearly worthless battery icon replacing the clock. Good news is that ROMs using AKU2.2 and later will allow you to add the clock back in, bad news is that the current JasJar ROM (1.30.76) doesn't seem to have the 2.2 release of AKU.
Can people with other carrier's ROMs check to see if the registry edit they provide works with your ROM?
The egistry edit is to add a DWORD titled ShowTitleBarClock with the value of 1 in the HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell location.
Didn't work for me
Doesn't work in the latest dopod rom 1.30.111 either...
The message on the MS site is from yesterday, and the guy is speaking of a "further release", i think AKU 2.2 don't exist yet
btw: isn't working on my wizard too
AKU 2.2.1 exists...
this is the nessesery file, you need to replace the existing one with this one (windows directory)
and add
[HKEYLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1
this is only for AKU 2.0!
!!!Attention: Make a backup and read through this tropic!!!
Problems with Universal roms!!!!
Perhaps related to the certification. Plz someone with removed certification try this... and post the results.
RE
The shell32.exe file in my QTEK 9000 is located in ROM something which you cannot copy out.
Does a soft reset reverts back to original battery icon if I'll to replace with the attached shell32.exe file?
After the battery icon is replaced by the clock icon, can I add a date to it also using any known method to put a date on top of the clock?
I believe a hard reset will definitely reverts back to the original battery icon, right?
Thanks
only a hard reset reverts back to the original.
add a date: I think so... not tested, but it should work.
I have a special rom where it is possible to overwrite system files, but It could be difficult to replase shell32.exe on a normal rom and I cant make a cab, because I dont know how to sign that.
plz someone with the knowledge about that make a cab.
don't bother, because even if you replace the shell32.dll, it wont restart, displaying the keyboard and getting stuck there.
You will have to hard reset and restore from a backup to get back your device.
A word of warning - back up before trying this. It hosed my universal. It would not even finish booting, and I had to hard reset.

Ok, I realy sorry.
It works for me...
Himalaya (rom based on 2.00a)
On my ROM (Qtek latest) in \Shell\Taskbar there's a regkey LimitedClock set to 1. If I set that to 0, the clock will at least display everywhere except Today, both in landscape and portrait modes. With it set to 0 as per standard, the clock only shows up while in apps *and* landscape, apps/portrait it doesn't. As long as the Today screen time&date plugin is switched on, this means you've always got the clock. BTW, needs a softreset to activate, Taskbar settings apparently are only read on first startup.

I'm sure you realise this is a universal forum? You should edit your post to remove your file before somebody else zaps it's unit.
I dont think so, because the os is the same.
My rom is not realy Himalaya, it is a ported wizard os and only the drivers of Himalaya.
So the file should work on all WM5 devices, perhaps the problem is related to the removed certification on Him 2.0 rom's.
(This file is from an Atom rom not Himalaya)
But you are right, I edited the post.
Disablesecurity.cab, replace shell32.exe with new, softreset
Hangs at boot with the soft keyboard superimposed over the boot screen. Hard reset to fix.
Basically, avoid this for a while.
......or use Wisbar Advance 2 and you have your clock back on the Today screen....
Cheers

I can confirm this - same result on the latest O2 AKU2 Rom.

Same on the Dutch SPV M3000 AKU2 ROM. Phone doesn't reboot.. ..had to hard reset...

You can access that feature simply by going to the date/time settings and enabling "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs" on the |More| tab.
O2 xda Atom have AKU2.2.1 and it really works no more battery icon.

Hello,
It is my first post on this forum.
Yesterday, I unlocked my frensh SPVM3000 (Wizard) and tried to replace my "shell32.exe" by the "shell32.exe" downloadable on this post.
It was a BAD idea! My SPV starting crashed because it was for Universal smartphone. I used the button sequence to re-install the original software.
Have you an address where I can download the "shell32.exe" of the Wizard AKU 2.2 software?
Thanks for your help.

Show Service provider name ('operator' / 'network') in dialer

Since I am using WM5 AKU3.3 (TMO HR origin) on my Wizard I do not see the active operator name in the dialer anymore.
The info is still available on the device as ie the wireless today plugin still shows the name.
In another thread someone stated that the WM5 AKU3.3 ROM do not show the operator name in the dialer by default.
My question is if there is a registry setting (ie in the RIL branch) or any other hack that can fix this.
Please note: I am NOT talking about a carrierlogo. I allready replaced the default (containing the T-Mobile logo) file with an empty transparent one.
The reason for wanting to have the operator name in the dialer is to check what network I am on because I use a dual sim. I have the info on my today screen (using the SIMToday plugin) but want to have it in the dialer also (just like with previous ROM versions).
The answer is a very simple: don't use T-Mobile ROM. All other ROMs, WM5 and WM6 have operator name in a dialer.
That is an option, but the WM5 AKU3.3 rom from TMO is the only official rom of that generation available. And i'd like to stick with it because of that.
I know previous ROM's (also TMO) do show the operator name, just this one doesnt.
If this is specific to this ROM, there should be a way to overcome the issue?
Meanwhile I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324844
But the reg keys mentioned are not on my device.
a program can check if reg keys are present without auto creating them if they are not
in which cause only way to get the program to get the behaviour from the reg keys is to manualy create them
Rudegar, can you give me some hint on what you mean with your statement? You puzzled me . . . . .
I do know how to create reg keys and set values, but its strange that a whole set of keys simply isnt available . . .

Wrong Operator Name

Hi,
I am using a mini & it shows wrong spelling of the operator name i.e. GrameemPhone instead of GrameenPhone.
Would anyone be kind enough to give me a solution? I know there are lots of gurus out there ...
Cheers...
I am using a HTC Touch Viva (Opal), same problem. "GrameemPhone" instead of "GrameenPhone".
Very annoying
you can try xiaojin's font changer..it has an option to change operator name to whatever name you prefer..
Wrong Operator Name bug fixed:GrameemPhone instead of Grameenphone
1. Install any registry editor. Here is a free to download: http://www.phm.lu/products/pocketpc/regedit/
2. Run the registry editor and Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/RIL/OperatorNames
3. Select the OperatorNames from the tree list and add a New String Value from Edit menu of that registry editor. Give the value name is "47001" and Value data is "Grameenphone".
4. Save and reboot the device.

Hi, i have been a long time user of WM. However recently i switched to HTC Hero (Android) which has the same problem - misspelled operator name. Any advise? Sorry, probably this is not the right forum to ask this. Rgds.
My goodness. I am revisiting same thread with another HTC after a year.
This time HTC Desire, same problem. GrameemPhone instead of GrameenPhone.
Anyway to fix it?
Haven't got solution for android.

Thanks.
I don't have the WinMo anymore.
Planning to get a WP7 soon though
Meanwhile, if anyone knows how to fix the problem on Android, that would be great.

why should tamper with the Registry editor bappinath, bappinath ..! it only helps temporarily ... if at any time you change the operator if you akn replace the operator name again ...? can become tired
should just use this ===> it will fit with existing state and operator

its just the gif file, you can change the setting with advanced config or manually editing the registry
to point to the file
hklm/software/htc/htc animation startupgif /windows/semc1904.gif
Apologies for hijacking the thread slightly (it looks nicely resolved to me though), does anyone know where the initial Sony Ericsson image is stored - i.e. the one that greets you when you first fire up the Xperia?
I found SEMC2904.bmp in the Wndows folder which is exactly what the startup screen looks like, but even if I change that file the startup image stays the same.
Any ideas? Or failing that, is there a registry setting to change the path for the initial startup image?

Can't restore xperia animated logo
Hi there,
been trying to get back xperia animated logo but no luck, seems that registry keys are not enough.
I've messed witk Mainsplash and Subsplash and successfully changed both by modifying htc rom tool settings and playing with nbimg, but xperia animated logo doesn't have anything to do with bootsplash, it's managed bt registry and no need to mess with reflashing inital splashes.
Here's what occurs at wm boot:
1. Display Mainsplash
2. Display Subsplash
3. Display Animated logo
4. Display Welcomehead*.png
I 've also tried playing with registry keys which were used successflly by HTC prophet users to display boot animation (see : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1719336&postcount=19)
but still no luck...
Has anyone succesfully restored Xperia boot logo ?
EDIT: Solved!

EDIT (14/01/2009):
Finally managed to get this stuff back, registry keys were not correct.
Here is a link for all those who want to get back their Xperia Boot Logo.
Unzip this file in your kitchen's OEM folder, it is ready to be cooked:
http://www.4shared.com/file/80625819/778c01d2/Xperia_stock_startup.html
(if you want to get it back without cooking anything, just put the file in \windows
on your device and edit your registry according to included keys in .rgu file)
Hope someone will find this usefull.
Cheers.
the reg key works prefectly in mine and on several other wwe roms are you on a french rom? that may be the problem..
you dont need to start playing with cooking roms just to get the htc animated startup working.
of course the easy way is to use advanced config to choose the gif you want to use.. and thats where i got the reg key from
Thank you for the answer fards, the problem was that at the beginning i was trying to put the wrong reg key which was included in archive posted some posts above.
First reg key i've tried was:
HKLM/software/htc/htcanimation
Tried also with a space between "htc" and "animation" but none worked.
By searching a little i found some htc prophet related posts with registry settings that put me on the right path.
After some unsuccessful tries i found that the following keys did the trick - at least for me -:
"Volumn"=dword:00000000
"WAVFile"="dummy"
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"GIFFile"="\\Windows\\SEMC1904.gif"
"Priority"=dword:000000C8
As you can see, the keys for playing a wave file when dislaying animation are here too.
Since i'm beginning in cooking stuff - and also in the whole ppc world - and wanted to make an ultralight ROM from my stock french one, i wanted to do everything at hand, in order to improve my understanding of the whole stuff, including little "cosmetic" details as well as critical system tweaks to fit my needs without using a single piece of additional software.
I've edited my previous post according to how i resolved this and included a zip archive to replace the one posted previously, which was including wrong registry settings.
Nice to see what we can achieve by working on various things and exchanging ideas, techniques and advises.
I've learned many thing since i began last week, but still a lot to learn...
Now i can go to the next level...
Cheers and thanks again.
