Since I am using WM5 AKU3.3 (TMO HR origin) on my Wizard I do not see the active operator name in the dialer anymore.
The info is still available on the device as ie the wireless today plugin still shows the name.
In another thread someone stated that the WM5 AKU3.3 ROM do not show the operator name in the dialer by default.
My question is if there is a registry setting (ie in the RIL branch) or any other hack that can fix this.
Please note: I am NOT talking about a carrierlogo. I allready replaced the default (containing the T-Mobile logo) file with an empty transparent one.
The reason for wanting to have the operator name in the dialer is to check what network I am on because I use a dual sim. I have the info on my today screen (using the SIMToday plugin) but want to have it in the dialer also (just like with previous ROM versions).
The answer is a very simple: don't use T-Mobile ROM. All other ROMs, WM5 and WM6 have operator name in a dialer.
That is an option, but the WM5 AKU3.3 rom from TMO is the only official rom of that generation available. And i'd like to stick with it because of that.
I know previous ROM's (also TMO) do show the operator name, just this one doesnt.
If this is specific to this ROM, there should be a way to overcome the issue?
Meanwhile I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324844
But the reg keys mentioned are not on my device.
a program can check if reg keys are present without auto creating them if they are not
in which cause only way to get the program to get the behaviour from the reg keys is to manualy create them
Rudegar, can you give me some hint on what you mean with your statement? You puzzled me . . . . .
I do know how to create reg keys and set values, but its strange that a whole set of keys simply isnt available . . .

ROM:A.30.09 ENG
Radio:4.21.00
It is fine, no any big problem till now.
But I have some hope to modefy on ATT WM2003 ROM. Maybe somebody asked already before.
Hope 1)...Can I change bootimage on this ROM?
Hope 2)...Can I change IE home consists?
I want to change to O2 look, however this ROM cames from ATT.
Please somebody give me advices.
Thank you all
Changing the bootimage is only possible by cooking your own ROM.
You can't change it on your running device.
IE settings may be changed in the Registry, if it's not bossible to change it directly in the IE...

I found a patched ROM image with bigstorage hack, it was a t-mobile ROM with bigstorage patched and most of the t-mobile stuff removed. anyway I am in India and I patched my phone fine with that, bigstorage and all is working properly, however i have a few problems.. now when I dial numbers or start adding numbers in contacts it automatically adds those brackets and all like (020)-988-41423.. how can i get rid of that and make it back to normal? Any CAB file for that? I Looked around in my extended rom folder also, couldnt really find anything.. searched in phone settings for ages..
Also is there a page somewhere extensively describing each CAB file in the magician extended rom
thanks
Hello,
Its always better to ask for support where you downloaded the patch. Anyway, the numbers are coming in brackets because, you have US in the regional settings. Change them to Australia probably and the brackets wont appear again..
Hi
I have discovered this site just now as a was searching for information on how to updrade by qtek9100 for a2dp and use a bluetooth stereoheadset with it.
I found some leads but they all ended in my not being allowed to change the registry settings for
"local machine"\drivers\BuiltIn\"
I can not add BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd and therefore not conclude the setup.
Is there anyone who can give me some advice on how to go about this ?
I have updgraded to the latest official ROM for sweden.
Lars
Try the CAB file attached
You might have to unlock your phone before you try and change the registry settings.

The cause for the problem may be one of the following:
1, you used a desktop ActiveSync-based registry editor.
Don't use desktop tools to chage the Registry. As is pointed out in my Registry Editor Bible, it won't work. Use a PPC-only registry editor.
2, you didn't shut down the PPC entirely after this (or waited long enough for the changes to be written to the Flash ROM as is explained in many of my WM5 & registry & flash ROM-related articles); this is why the changes haven't been stored.
Note that this has NOTHING to do with your phone's being locked. You do NOT need to unlock your device.
Hello folks!
After i updated my Artemis (aka MDA Compact III) to WM6 (with the original ROM from T-Mobile) the network my phone is connected to is shown twice (for example: if i press the "phone" button on the top taskbar it shows "T-Mobile D T-Mobile D")
This is just a little Problem but it doesn't look nice in my eyes
Does anybody know how to get rid of this?!
I'm looking forward to hear from you
Thanks
Try to do an Hard-reset otherwise if it's still not fixed try to reflash with the original rom of WM6
I've already tried both of your suggestions. But still same situation...
Does anybody else know how to solve this problem?
Problem solved!!! Heres the translated text taken from a German forum...
Reason: "Windows Mobile RIL" and "HTC RIL" are displaying the Providername at the same time which causes the "clone" (Happens only if T-Mobile ROM and Dialer Skin that not uses phcanhtc.dll is used!)
Solution: There are two possibilities/CAB´s.
1: ProviderFIX WM RIL Manipulation
- The HTC RIL is still showing the Providername while the Windows Mobile RIL just displays a "invisible" symbol. (works great for me!)
2: ProviderFIX HTC RIL Deactivate
- HTC RIL is deactivated, only Windows Mobile RIL shows the Providername (it is possible that this permanently disable the @Home Icon of T-Mobile)
Downloadlink: http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=25042&d=1197170450
Installation / Deinstallation:
- The chosen CAB needs to get installed on your device. A deinstallation is possible. Both CAB´s just change some values of the registry.
After the installation do a Softreset.
Hi, i have some special interests regarding the home-area-icon by vodafone:
1. How get a HTC the info "you are in the home-area"?
I think in the OS is integrated a special program from Vodafone, that is reading the digital informations from the data packets from the GSM network (cell ID?) and compares this informations with the saved datas on the SIM card, so that the device can show the home-icon. Is it correct?
(So i know: O2 works with a broadcast channel. But VF and T-mobile works with a other System.)
2. If it be a special program: is it for different HTC devices (like "VPA..." or VPA compact...") identical or is the program for each VPA type specialy programmed?
3. If it be identical: whith cab files from Vodafone i need, to show the home-icon on my today screen?
Are specialy prerequisites needed?
4. Are this program and the settings not identical in each country, so i'm searching the german CAB files. (or the names of the files)
I'm grateful for each information for this thread.
Greetings Frank
1. You need a special SIM, wich is able to support the Service.
(Not all UMTS SIM Cards support this service)
2. Sometimes, the Customer Service have to send your a configuration Message to the SIM...
I have both
I know and i have from Vodafone.de the SIM card with integratet STK. VF also has send the configuration-SMS for the home area setting.
In the last time i have found informations about showing the home area into the display.
In the OS is a file (stk.exe) thats communicate with the STK from the SIM.
OK, if i deal a number, i have the acousic signal for the home area. But there isn't a icon in the Display, if i be in my area.
I think, i have a older version of STK-software, that's can't show the home-icon, because i have a WIZARD (VPAc2) with original WM5.
If i call the STk-Soft ("Vodavone-Services") it's only list SMS-InfoServices, MMS-InfoServices and Mobile fun.
I can't see other services. In the OS i also missing some files to get all services. In the WM6 ore on newer devices after the VPAc2 are more files for the STK. As sample: STK_uippc, tkitapp, STKTray, StkStarter.
-
Another Problem is the follow:
If i flash to WM6 (german), the STK-tool is absolutly not available:
- No shows in programmfolder and
- it's not run, if i call it manualy into the Windows folder and the other STk Utilitys shows clean windows.
Why work the original WM5 STK half and the WM6 STK not?
Thanks for answer.
Greetings Frank
new Information
Now, i have tested the follow:
new flash of the original Rom for VPAc2 (Wizard). After the flash the device is reboot and after the reboot it's say, that's want to setup the Provider settings after 3 seconds => Softreset on this message.
(No Provider settings installed)
After softreset it is shows a window named STK-Service: "Zuhause"
(i'm in my home-area. In this time i dosn't have tested the Displaying "Zuhause", if i leave the home area and come again.)
But it's only the STK-Service windows and not showing a icon!
I think, it's needed some additional entrys for the STK settins in the registry. But what?
By different HTC devices i've found different positions for STK-settings.
By one device it's call "STK", another device call's "Stk" and again by another device "HTCSTK"...
So are the different positions in the registry:
- [HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ OEM \ STK]
- [HKCU \ ControlPanel \ HTCSTK] (This is original from VPAc2)
- [HKLM \ Services \ Stk] (this was written by TMo-STK-Setup)
And every of this registry entrys has different entrys for the settings!
Now i'm verry confused!
PS: Someone has a tip for me?
I need the references for the registry entrys. But, where are this references to find?
Greetings Frank
registry references in the ddl files?
In this time i have searched in the dll files for references of registry entrys. i mean, that i have found some references. but i don't know, if it be registry entrys or program work codes. There are some for me known references and many unknown codes.
Anyone can give me the correctly registry entrys (with the path in the registry) for the STK services, so that i see the icon for the home-area?
Or anyone can help me to find the correctly entrys from the dll files?
greetings Frank
PS:
I can not find some new references of Registry-Entrys in the dll files for displaying a "Home"-Icon. Without help i must give up.
