rom update to have qtek1010 wmodem application on mda - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Dear all,
congratulations to this very sophisticated forum.
Helped me for several open questions with my mda. THNX!
I was very suprised to read about othmans sw update working well for qtek1010 regarding the wmodem application.
Is there any chance to get this wmodem application implemented in the mda? Are there any news to that topic?
There is a German forum (http://comlab-md.org:8080/mda/index_html) -OK is rarely compareable with this one - but there we can read, that mda distributor (T-mobile) may not have any interest in such a wmodem function for mda. Incredible! For me it's an essential feature of such a device...
THNX for your interest
regards from rainy Munich

Update without radio stack update perhaps?
I was wondering this too. Specifically whether the qtek ROM update could be done, but without letting it do the radio stack update.
I guess the thing is, what is in the ROM side, and what is in the radio stack side?
I specifically want the 'allow GPRS to stay alive' option on my USA T-Mobile device....
..lance

It seems the new RSU and RUU working with my T-Mobile MDA perfectly, However I still checking the RSU Qtek 3.23 is better than o2 4.16 or not.

Upgrading from Magician to Prophet

Hi there,
I've been using a Magician for the past 18 months (O2 Xda II mini) and have just ordered myself an iMate JAMin. It's a freebie on my current business phone plan.
Can someone tell me if the Prophet has suffered from the same problems with GPRS that the Magician has - i.e. trouble connecting to GPRS a second time, which seemed somehow related to the CallerID software?
And what English ROM is considered the best/most stable at present? Or put another way, which ROM version(s) should I avoid?
Hi,
I upgraded and so far have not had a repeat of the GPRS issue you mention.
As for best ROM, someone else can answer that. Be careful though, some people have reduced thier pride and joy to a mere paper-weight after trying to flash to a new ROM.

HELP: Blackberry on TMO MDA for T-Mobile USA

Hello,
Hope someone can help me with this.
Many folks on the forums ave managed to get the Blackberry connect software to work on their PPC. From the postings, many of us got it to work in Germany, UK on wizard and plenty did too on the Universal platform.
So far I have been unsuccesful in doing so with T-Mobile US and my Wizard (original TMO MDA). From the symptoms and postings on the forums, it seems related to my ROM or Radio version.
If anyone got their wizard to work wit the BB Connect client on TMO USA, can you please post in reply your ROM version and Radio version.
On my end, I tried
- BB Connect client 2.1.2.16
- enterprise BES server
- ROM 2.26.10.2 WWE
- Radio 2.25.11
Thanks for any help!

What was the fix?

Upgrade to WM6???

I have a Cingular 8525 and it is unlocked and I use T-Mobile service with it. I see that T-mobile has released the WM6 upgrade... http://home.businesswire.com/portal...d=news_view&newsId=20070502006572&newsLang=en
My question is should I upgrade using the T-mobile version or should i wait and get the cingular version of WM6? Also, is it worth the trouble to upgrade? Im a pretty heavy user of all the features of the phone.
Also, what software would you recommend me using to backup my programs on my phone if i do upgrade?
Thanks in advance,
Rjp20
Anyone??? Can anyone help???
T-Mobile have released a WM6 update, but it's for the Dash - a completely different device to the 8525 you have.
There is a forum devoted to WM6 and Hermes here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=355
I'd try searching that forum, the wiki, etc.
Read through the posts on all the different ROM's, This will lead you to make the decision your looking for in regards to WM6.

There is also an update for the MDA

Tethering (PPC to PPC)?

Is it possible to tether my 3G connection from my 8525 to my Universal? This would help me because I live in the US where the 3G doesnt work for the Universal.
Anyone is it possible?
Should be possible with bluetooth. I've done it with my Hermes and a PocketLoox720
The exact process involved depends upon if you are running the original early version of WM5, or a later AKU WM5 or WM6 Rom

I think the Universal has an old ROM but for the Hermes if I use the original ROM from Cingular I am not sure? Thanks for th info though I will post when I get my Universal later this week. Thanx.

New to MDA Vario. Need simple fix

I have been offered an MDA Vario and want to know just a few little things.
Firstly, the Vario is running the latest software from T-Moblie (released 06/06 I believe).
I don't want to upgrade ROMs (too complicated for me to risk).
I need a tool/software to enable A2DP bluetooth.
I also need a tool/software to fully unlock (sim/application and CID) the Vario.
I have searched the forums but only keep finding topics about ROM upgrades and software that work with those ROMs.
Thanks.
You can either unlock the VARIO with lokiwiz (all over the forum here!) or - in case it is a US device: simple email T-Mobile customer care. They will offer you the code for free.
Thanks for the unlock.
Will the o2 A2DP bluetooth stack (in the Magician forum) work on the MDA Vario ?
