Problem with Kies

hello, please be gentle with me
I have had my Galaxy S for about a week now and have finally downloaded Kies, i wish i could say i am impressed with the software.
I have opened Kies, then connected the phone whist it is on the home screen and with the internal SD card unmounted.
Kies picks up that the phone is connected, i then get a notification that there is a firmware upgrade, when i try to do this Kies then picks up that the phone has been disconnected, even though it is still connected.
In addition i get the MTP issue on the phone, the screen flashes and will not allow the upgrade to take place.
I am getting a little frustrated with this phone, i would love to get the phone to talk to the PC, can anyone help me through this in easy steps please

Galaxy S4 (I9505) USB connection delay

Yesterday I got my Samsung Galaxy S4 from Three (Sweden) and the first thing I started doing was restoring a lot of stuff that I already have on my S3 (I9300).
I cannot remember when exactly the problem started but I think it was after I rooted the S4 when I noticed that it takes FOREVER for the PC to detect the Galaxy S4 when I plug it into the USB but most times it doesn't work at all and it gives the error message that it couldn't find compatible software on the PC bla bla bla.
I've tried rebooting the phone and the PC to no effect.
My S3 can connect with USB within 2 seconds so I'm pretty sure it's the S4's fault.
I've looked around the forums quite a bit and I couldn't find a single topic about this issue. Am I alone in this?
Plugging in the USB cable 99% of the time results in nothing happening.
The only way I can coax it to work is by enabling and/or disabling the USB debugging mode. After I've done that once or twice the PC finally recognize the MTP device.
This is INCREDIBLY annoying! Does anyone have ANY idea what could be the cause of this? I've tested on 2 different PCs so I know it's something about the phone.

Fully bricked Nexus 7 2012, not the same brick as always. Just read it.

I have read every single thread that exists on the internet about this problem, the bootloops, the faulty bootloaders, the wrong rooting and image installations, every single posible way to brick this piece of device that everyone seems to have problems with. Yet none of them has gave me a solution. First of all, it's my girlfrinds tablet, she told me that one day, she tried to upgrade the android software and while it was installing it, the tablet bricked. She was able to go to fastload mode (power + volume up) we've tried recovery mode, factory reset, every option there, nothing. She gave me the tablet, I plugged it on my pc and used Nexus Root Kit to install a new android software to the device. After a painful search of how to make the Kit recognize the tablet because usb debugging was not on, I was able to start the process of installing the new software. Yet, in the middle of the installation, the micro-usb moved a little bit and the tablet got disconected. The process was cancelled and the tablet screen froze. I turned the tablet off and that was when it just bricked and never wanted to turn back on. Neither with any combination of the buttons, nor while leaving it charging a long time, nor any possible solution the internet may have about this. Just fully totally and simply bricked. Yet, when I connect it to my pc (windows 7 ultimate 64 bits) sometimes, it reads it as an unknown device, sometimes it reads it as a random APX device, and when I install any kind of drivers that already exist on every thread that there is about it, it reads it as an ASUS Transforme Prime APX Interface, yet the tablet never displays anything, and I'm not able to access it in any way nor make any changes to it whatsoever. I live in a country were there is no google or asus techical support, and third-party technical supporters are dumb as f***. My girlfrind took the tablet to 2 other places before giving it to me and they said to her that "it didn't have any software installed" (which was wrong) and that "it was beyond repair" (which was also wrong). The only thing I want to know is: is there any way to fix it now? or do I just have a very nice and fancy paperweight in my hands.

Ha, yes...same boat and similar situation happened where USB became disconnected during bootloader flash. Surprised there haven't been any snarky comments made on your (and now my) situation. I have a totally non-responsive device now and Windows is also not recognizing the USB device (because it does not respond back when attempting to connect/mount). Looks like the only magic at this point would be cracking open and trying a completely different path to restoring, otherwise it is time to find a nice door needing a doorstop!

Retrieving photos from Note 3

Hi,
I'm having issues with an old Galaxy Note 3.
The story is a friend of mine tried to replace the glass on his note 3 and botched it completely. He destroyed the display and gave up on it and eventually sent it to me completely disassembled(in individual parts)+ a new frame, sans the lcd, but it wasn't cost effective to replace the display so I let it sit and gather experience. He now asked me to retrieve his photos from the onboard storage and here is where I'm stuck.
I assembled the components on the new frame without the lcd and I put the battery in, let it charge for a bit and tried to connect it to the laptop and installed the usb drivers and kies.
The problem is that all the components listed under devices and printers for SAMSUNG_Android are locked, as in I am unable to update or change the drivers. Also, Kies reports being unable to connect to the phone.
The phone buzzes once upon connecting to the pc and the red led comes on(as it does when charging).
Am I missing something important? Should I use the old frame with the broken up lcd? I would really appreciate your help.
Thanks a bunch.
I was able to connect my phone to pc eventhough the screen is blank until I overblew it with hot air.... Maybe the mb has damaged?. Did yoy tried to install usb driver alone without kies?.

Sure, I had installed the usb files before Kies.
In the end, I let it charge overnight and it booted. Connected fine after that.
Thanks,

Samsung J3 Badly Damaged

Hello a friend has asked if i can repair his Samsung J3, the screen is badly smashed and doesnt work. Ive connected to my laptop via usb data cable to Samsung Kies the Phone doesnt connect remains on "connecting". I cant recover the phone as there is a password on it from a previous connection to a computer. The phone does vibrate when connected to my laptop. Windows detects the phone as a j3 and mass storage device but there is no data on it. My friend said there was photos on it. I can buy a new screen would it be possible to get the phone into recovery mode and flash a stock rom back on it using third party software? Ive been reading the other tutorials on how to do this, ive never worked on Samsungs but ive worked on Nokia and IPhones before.
Thanks in advance.
Do not reset the phone or flash other rom because the data is still there , but invisible because locked screen. Only solution is to get a screen replacement.
Hope I helped you.
