Recently my phone has been suffering a rather irritating problem. I get a system message saying "Unfortunately seconded has stopped. X Close app". I can only press close and the the second screen will clear and stay black for a minute. And then the process repeats. I like the second screen and use it very often.
I'm rooted and on 8.0. I did that last year and did nothing in the days leading up to the problem.
Any help woud be very appreciated. Thank you.

Over the past few days I have noticed that my D800 will randomly restart. It does it in this way every time...I will go to unlock the phone by double tapping and the front LED will turn white as it is supposed to, then it will just hang there with a black screen until the ATT logo shows again and it boots back into my lock screen. Why is this happening? Has it happened to anyone else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Opps i just started a topic on this. I have sprint g2 and i was suffering the same issues. I dont know what i did to fix it. But it seems fine now.

hello, I experienced the same trouble last week. I remove Gmail (as it was proposed in an other thread) and reinstall it. Since then, no more reboot . It seems that one update of Gmail is creating some trouble.
cross the fingers it does not appear again ;0)

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 on AT&T with the September security update and for the past month I have been experiencing a repeating issue where the screen will occasionally not turn on after locking it, even with the power button and home button being pressed. Sometimes by spamming those buttons the device will buzz and turn on again, but recently it has not even responded to this and will completely restart after about a minute. This seems to happen frequently with Snapchat opened but sometimes it does this behavior with other apps open. In the past, messages have also sometimes shown up either saying "System has stopped responded. Would you like to force quit?" or another app that is currently open. If anyone has been experiencing the same problem and has advice it would be appreciated.

I had this issue as well. The phone had a lot of force quits. It would lock up, vibrate then reboot. I would recommend getting it exchanged.

I would do that but I can't exchange the phone at this point, I've had it for a while now.

Can you call in for a warranty exchange?
Hi.
I know it's early days for the European market to be using one of these phones, but I have had mine since Saturday. I'm finding that it will freeze for about 20 seconds before switching itself off and then restarting. It doesn't matter which app I'm using, at one point I was playing music and it made the most horrendous noise before doing it. Other times I've been playing videos, I've been on the Internet or on Facebook or something and the same thing has happened.
I'd first set this phone up through SmartSwitch, so I figured maybe do a factory reset and reinstall all my apps fresh. This has made no difference. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I have mine since Friday, not one issue. Freezing and restarting sounds like software or hardware issue. If I was you I would factory reset again and run clean without installing any software yet (could be a program you're installing). If it's fixed, then load few programs at the time to try to identify which batch has a bad program in it. At the end, if you don't want to bother or it still doesn't work, just return it.
Hi Pete
I have a feeling it's a screen issue, the last time it happened there was a thick jagged line about 5mm going across the lower half of the screen. Could well be hardware/screen. Obviously I just got it so I'm going to probably going to have to return it. Thanks for the quick reply
Galaxy S8 Freezing here too
I purchased a Galaxy S8+ for myself and an S8 for my daughter. We got the phones on April 20th and since then only the S8 has frozen twice. The clock on the front of the phone stops, the only way to 'wake up' the phone is to press and hold all of the external buttons for ~15 seconds.
What is the Samsung warranty like in the event that this becomes a real problem?
Is this still happening to anyone? I have the T-Mo varient of the S8 and I have returned my first one, now its happening to my second. It just freezes randomly, once or twice a day.
This just happened to me. Was watching youtube before the screen froze and the speaker started playing a buzzing tone. It restarted after a few seconds and during bootup, a blue bar appeared at the bottom of the screen
Hey guys, I have had my Note 4 for about 3 years now and it has never done me wrong. However, things have taken a turn for the worse... I started noticing a few days ago that it was slowing down on me, I mean, really slowing down. Big lag times when it comes to swiping to open the screen, or changing between apps, and the occasional self-shut down when the battery got down to about 15-20%. I had been putting off doing a self-update for a while, and when I finally had time to do one tonight, in hopes of cleaning it up, it is now lying on its death bed
I do not think the update ever finished (my phone is not rooted) but I was desperate enough to even do a factory reset and that has not fixed the issue.
Here are the symptoms:
As I go to boot the phone, I get past the Samsung Note logo and it looks like it is about to load properly, but then I get a popup that says "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" I hit ok and it keeps popping up again. I can't bypass it.. Then after I get passed that for a split second, another popup comes up that says "unfortunately system UI has stopped" It prevents me from getting to the home screen, in fact the screen behind it is black.
I have tried the following:
Clearing the cache partition from the recovery screen
I have done numerous hard restarts
I have gone through with a factory restart
That is where I have left off, and lost most hope, was with the factory restart. Now when I turn it on, I get past the logos and I can see in the background the page you would get as if it was a brand new phone (it says "Welcome! Preparing you device for first time use.." etc. But I can't do anything about it because I am still getting the same two popups that prevent me from doing absolutely everything!!!)
I have read about this happening and people seem to be able to fix this by accessing certain app setting and either resetting them, or clearing their cache. However, that is not an option for me because I can't get that far. I think something must have went wrong during the update...
Please help with any advice you can think of. I have been putting off rooting this phone pretty much because I was afraid of royally f****** it up, but at this point I am willing to try anything.
Thanks,
Eric
Hey guys, does anyone have any suggestions for my issue?? I am about to go out and buy a new phone, I have no idea what I can do to fix this. I have rooted it using Odin, but the popups are still occurring. I can't get the popups to stop, and they are preventing me from doing absolutely everything.
Is there anyway I can get it to go back to complete scratch? Again, I have done a factory reset, cleared the cache, rooted using Odin. I have done everything I can think of/what I have read I can do. I am willing to try anything at this point.
UPDATE: At this point my phone is on, and the only error message/popup I am getting is "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." Behind that popup is a blank, black screen. The only option I have is to click ok, and the screen remains black.
Temporary solution that might work- Try logging in safe mode: Switch off the phone. Power it on and as soon as Samsung logo appears, release the power button and press and hold the volume down button. Release button when you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen. Try uninstalling all user apps in safe mode. To get back to the normal mode you can drag down from notification and disable safe mode.
You could also download the latest software for your model from samfirm and flash it via odin after factory reset. Could be a permanent solution.
why you just flash last frimware from sammobile,it will solve all your problems
SOLVED!!!
Alright guys, I was able to solve my problem, all thanks to this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/general/stock-tar-odin-flashable-t3250864
I had already tried flashing a fresh stock rom, but to no prevail. I saw this thread and thought, hey why not give it a shot, and bingo! After downloading the .tar file for marshmellow and launching it through odin, she was good as new! So if anyone seems to have a problem with the system ui or the process phone.android popup, I suggest that thread.
