NTSG is a video playback standard and I don't understand how that's related to radio and audio playback of 3rd party apps you installed.
AUX is an input for external audio devices which doesn't provide a digital output. You can use it to connect your Walkman from the 80s or even a record player to the head unit.

The radio app is just an UI for the integrated radio chip. So the Android OS is just involved as remote control of the on-board radio.
If you use a 3rd party app like Spotify, YouTube or Poweramp audio processing happens on Android. Usually this apps are using the media channel as output.
First thing you can check is the volume of the media channel. You can find it in the Android settings.
Additonally you can test TTS output. This is another channel and you can use the test button of Google Text to Speech engine. You can find it by using the search function of Android settings. I think it's in the "Language and input" submenu.

Still don't know what's wrong with my first answer. There are still people like to enjoy their MCs in car and because modern car head units aren't able to play MCs they are using a Walkman on the AUX input.
I'm really shocked from your answer.
New Telematics Generation is just the name of Mercedes head units and there is no need to know the OEM unit (in detail) to find a solution.

If It helps, when i phone someone, i hear the sound in the car, but when i receive a call, i didnt hear anything. I think IS some configuration, but i cant find the solution

So, i didnt understand u, sorry again, i cant say It more times

Any idea?

When the sound comes from BT of the car, i can hear It in the car speakers, but when the sound comes from BT of the own device, i didnt hear anything. I cant hear the device from the car speakers. And i dont know if this is normal. No sounds in any app. Its like a modern screen but the same as the old one of M Benz.

Interesting video because some users commented that they need to select a specific sound source.

Thank you!!!

how to use the AUX port on the Android head unit?

Anybody knows how to use the AUX port to play music through the head unit?
Hi, I have the same doubt here. I bought a pure Android unit (still trying to find out which make and model is, as it's unbranded, with RK3188A chip, but not matching any MCU listed on the HuiFei wiki page), and I see that I can only use the dual zone for DVD while navigating (IGO) on the head unit. I mean, I have no PIP functionality (not a big issue), but the dual is not working as expected. I can only send video to rear monitors if it's played from the DVD. No USB, SD, BT, etc music or video files seem to be allowed to be sent through the AUX out port. And I'm only allowed to use navigation app while DVD is played on rear monitors... No radio, no USB, SD, etc video or audio files.
My previous unit is a WinCE supporting really well all this functions, but unfortunately due to a battery power loss, it only starts in recovery mode (expecting to load some firmware from SD card), and I cannot find any FW valid for it. And this pure Android is unable to do it, so I'm investigating to come up with a solution (it's the main reason I bought the pure Android unit).
Anyone knows any option? I think this could be done via software, but maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance, it's really appreciated.

you'll need a 3.5mm/2.5mm male to 2 RCA cable, connect this cable to your MP3 or someting and the AUX IN L and AUX IN R cables ,open the AV IN app on the head unit, then you can listen to the music through your head unit

So, you cannot play music from a friend's phone and use tomtom (or any app) in the meantime?
There is any possibility to have AUX-IN audio and any navigation app in the meantime?
Thank you,

You just bought the wrong device.
Nearly all units with DVD support only video/audio from this drive, nothing else.
All units without integrated DVD can play anything from anywhere, even from any USB-DVD.
From my understanding this cannot be changed...
May be possible by deactivating the DVD by pulling out the connection to the main board.... I don´t know, needs to be tested.

Where do you read that out of his posting? You always can send the AUX player to the background and can use navigation.
By the way... for what reason did you activate the donate button? Did you create any helpful software to ask for donation?

Ah, someone said it was. What is it?
I don't know if this applies to all firmware, but on some firmware, you either see the AUX or the Front Camera app icon. In the settings, when the front camera is activated, the AUX program icon changes to a front camera. If you deactivate the front camera then the AUX icon appears and I believe the sound source input is also made active in addition to the camera. On mine, the option is under Factory Settings and is named "Front View" on can be toggled on or off.
I have a TEyes SPro 4/64 which is an s9853i FYT unit. You should check the connection diagram for your head unit to see which pins/connectors are for AUX video and audio.

Interesting so I can't use my dash cam and AUX?
Not sure. Try it and see what happens. Maybe your unit is different.
If both your dash cam and AUX use the same inputs, then I would guess that it's not possible.
Best to try and maybe follow-up with your vendor/seller/manufacturer.
I have a similar problem. I m trying to install an reverse camera. I have connected the orange "reversing" wire but when I am in reverse I get a "no signal error". What's the difference between video in and cam in connectors. Do you know what the pin out of this connector is because the rca female cables are not installed and I m trying all possible combinations in order to connect the video in and grnd cables from the male rca. Thanks

Chinese HU vs Parrot Asteroid Smart

Hi
I am currently using Parrot Asteroid Smart, generally I am satisfied with the unit, sound quality is great, BT and other features works good, but the HW is old and max. Android version is 2.3.
I'm thinking about upgrading to newer android and the only possibility I see is one of chinese 2din HU like Ownice C500.
Does anyone have experience if they are any cons of such change? What is the sound quality of C500 compared to Smart?
Any info would be appreciated.

I am in the exact same situation. I was happy with the PAS at first, but it became outdated and frustrating very quickly - the lack of apps supported natively, the lack of ram and storage. Even after rooting and installing Google Play store there are so many apps that can't be run on 2.3. Positives though are that the Bluetooth call quality and voice command is in my opinion unmatched.
I have since bought an Eonon Android unit (rooted and installed Malaysk rom) for my wife's car and the interface is great, the sound is reasonable and the app support is great. The Bluetooth however is terrible, to the point of being unusable, the person on the other end can either not hear or suffers from major delay. This is a known problem with nearly ALL Chinese Android head units and there is a hardware mod but not being very confident in opening the unit and performing the mod properly and potentially voiding warranty is a risk I'm yet to take with it. I also have an issue where the physical volume control knob stops working and sound can only be adjusted on-screen, this is usually fixed with a reboot.
I still have not found a reliable unit to replace the PAS in my car after reading numerous threads that has Bluetooth quality on par with the PAS. Hopefully someone else here can recommend a decent unit?

Why?
look over some of the various threads on XDA, and feel free to check out the official Joying forum - http://forum.carjoying.com/
For the most part i think Joying gets the least amount of negative feedback, they tend to have pretty good customer service, and they seem to so somewhat monthly updates. I have had the older 1gb model and I currently have the newer 2GB of RAM model, and I'm a big fan:
here is a video review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzGFDwSFj24&feature=youtu.be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUP4WGYHIaQ
but dont take my word for it, like I said, if you spend some time reading, you'll see a lot of the other head units have their fair share of bugs and complaints
If you want a fully functional BT interface, go with the Intel 2GB Joying head units. I think they are the only ones with a full stack BT interface available, the other Rockchip based units seem to have a somewhat hacked in BT interface which is limited compared to a full native interface, specially when it comes to how the Android OS can access and control it.
Install the apk from this thread and you have access to the standard Android BT settings screen, it is normally hidden in the Settings app but luckily it's not removed.

Few questions:
What is the BT handsfree quality with external mic installed?
Does the radio display station names? Does RDS and AF work correctly?
What is the general sound quality?
Does WiFi module connect with 4G router?
I use the head units wifi to connect to my phone as a wifi hotspot. Works great. BT handsfree with external mic is very good, at least according to those I talk to, I haven't been on the "receiving end" yet..
The sound quality is good, I'm still using the OEM speakers and they sound better with this head unit compared to the OEM head unit. Can't confirm on radio as I actually don't use it much... It does have RDS it seems, but don't know if it works or not. (radio where I live is garbage, nonsense content and music seems limited to whatever the top 20 list is...)

Both MTCD and Joying INtel have positive and negative feedbacks....
In terms of BT performance....both have BT Limited to MCU. Even you could pair from the BT standard menu, the functionality is limited. If i am not wront (correct me) both units CAN'T perform CALLS from BT by using google Now. Google Now recognizes correctly the name and it seems to start the call but never is initiated as it can not communicate with the real bluetooth Handsfree on the Headunit.
On the Intel units, the BT and wifi hardware is on the same board as the CPU, Android has full access to it. That is not the reason Google Now can't make calls. This is different on the MTCD units where the BT is a module which is sort of hacked in and Android doesn't have full access to.
I have bought Joying with Intel. BT handsfree works fine, although there are some other problems:
- no voice in Google Maps,
- when listening to the FM radio no voice output from nav apps except of Igo,
- I have connected Alpine active sub to the unit, sub works fine for first few minutes and stops, any idea why and what can be done about it? Sub worked great with Parrot, so it must be some issue with Joying.

I think if you change default nav app to your preferred one, you'll get voice output in FM radio.
For the sub - is the amp still ON after a few minutes when it stops? I have an active sub on mine and have no issues. I'd check on what your source for "on" signal on your amp is.
Google maps voice output doesn't work no matter what I do. As a default nav app neither.
Sub is powered and it works with very low volume settings, ad soon as I turn the volume up it stops working.

(have seen a few oem ones) if so it would be hooked up with the sub RCA output ? Is the amp powering down ??
If so try hooking the remote line on the amp to an 12v acc line instead. (This is no different to the headunit remote 12v output just that if you switch the head unit off the amp is still powered on , this could eliminate a headunit problem ?)

As wrx216 said. I think it might be bad wiring. try a different SUB "ON" source. For example, I tap in the + wire of my rear speaker as the power on signal for the sub amp.
Google maps voice output still does not work. I did factory reset - it did not help.
I have updated the firmware and google maps voice works fine. But sub does not work at all now.
I have connected remote wire of the sub to constant +12V output (the same as amp. power supply) - it still does not work. I have also tried to change RCA input of the amp. - still nothing.

PX5 Unit after 4 Months - and some Questions

Hey Guys,
i have my head unit now for about 3 Months and i costumized everything i could including the Factory settings!
I have some problems where i cant google a solution or couldnt find one by myself:
First and the biggest for me:
The Bluetooth CallApp sucks - i can't sort by first name - its only sorted by last name
Is there maybe a ther app i can install?
Second Problem:
I cant finde or activate the Developer Options - tried every app on the playstore! not working
- a less big problem - i would love to get it done - but i dont see a chance someone can help me with that...
In the Factorysettings under the Tab Canbus ill have 2 Options that kinda work for me.
78_Jeep
and 48_Jeep
on the 78 Setting, i have all the Settings for my car in the Menue (light, brake etc) but with this setting my steering wheel app dosnt work. it only has a few "preset options"
(Yes i changed the Steering Wheel Canbus Type)
With the 48_Jeep Seetings the Steering Wheel app functions perfectly and i like how i can costuomize it, but the "Settings" app is gone - and my rearcamera curve strings are gone
So is there a way to use the 78_Jeep canbus type but for the steering wheel the 48 settings?
i appriciate every help and if someone needs more details - i will provice everything!

Yes, this section is very alive.
You do not mention which kind of unit you have, which android version, etc, etc. That is like mentioning "my computer doesn't work anymore. Help".
If you have an MTC unit you might have luck in the MTC threads. There are multiple custom roms also having bluetooth mods, but BT mods are really hardware and MCU dependent. There is no such thing as a good BT app.
Developer options: On some units the settings app has been recompiled removing quite some options like developer options or bluetooth settings.
Jeep canbus settings: You can only hope for a Jeep owner to react. Besides: there are so many units. Mentioning the 78 or 48 jeep version might be specific for one type unit that nobody has.
Everything you mention is not on my units.

Hello sir!
I too have a Jeep Renegade (2015 though) and am currently ironing out the kinks of my new radio.
My unit is a Dasaita HA-5288-v940 , PX5 w/ Android 9.0 and I have to use the same canbus settings
as you to acquire steering wheel control.
One thing that did help me with my steering wheel keys was using the settings built into the FCC Launcher.
There was an option to switch the steering wheels keys from like 'SW'? to CANBUS. Selecting CANBUS allowed
me to map my keys correctly. I left my canbus vehicle selection to the same one as in your picture (Simple).
Note: you can verify if this is the maker of your canbus by taking a peek at the decoder.. it will be made by
'Simple' or 'High' etc..
FCC is the first 'headunit specific' launcher I've tried.. but playing around with it
resolved a few jeep specific issues. Eventually I'll throw Nova Launcher on the thing when everything is working.
I am currently trying to figure out why I can't hear call audio, but can hear ad2p without issue...
My BT module appears to be a GOC-MD-705D and has to use the WQBC6 module (from what ive tested).
Callers can hear me, but I can't hear anything My harness wiring is labeled for a 'CHEROKEE', but I've
confirmed with Dasaita that I appear to have the right harness. Their support from their official ebay
store have been really helpful. I'm super hoping to resolve the lingering issues I have.
I have spoken with Dasaita support about my issues and through the conversation I have been told
that developer options has pretty much been removed. =/ I was hoping to see what bluetooth codec
was in use and see if me matching it on my mobile would resolve the audio issues...
By all means if you've resolved any issues Jeep specific send me a message??
I've had my unit for maybe 1-2 weeks now and seem to be making things a 'little' easier with every change.
I'm going to look into Viper4Android to help with some audio improvement and hoping to find a better
'bluetooth dialer' application that is better than the factory installed one.. I am totally new to the head unit
world, but trying to learn as much as I can.
I'll try and remember any specific Renegade tweaks that have improved things for me and send you a message?
I can't tell you how relieving it is to find another Jeep Renegade owner who gave U-Connect the boot..
@broach4313 I know it’s only simple but for the Bluetooth audio that you can’t hear have you tried making a call and then when the call has been answered then increasing the volume? It is a separate volume for a Bluetooth call and I had the same problem a few week back, then I remembered I turned the volume down for some reason when I was playing around with it.

This worked for me : factory settings, type code ADBON and press enter/complete. Developer options menu then appeared. (PX5, 4gb, Android Pie)

From what I see the volume is up. I can hear music via bluetooth when its played over a2dp. I appreciate the help though!
I just updated to the most recent firmware for the unit. Not change though.

The volume on a2dp music and on Bluetooth calls are 2 different things.
Try making a call in the car when your Bluetooth is connected to the unit, then when the call is answered then increase the volume on the unit. You might find the volume is currently on 0.

Nope, volume is up. I generally only see a single volume meter (sort of goes for everything?) unless I go into the
canbus settings and then i see notifications, voice, bt etc... everything is up.
Just this one huge problem solved and I'll be happy thinking about rooting the unit to gain more control, but
not sure if this is a software issue or maybe wiring related to the harness. I'm out of ideas. :|

Android Head Unit eq ignored

hello everyone ! i am writing here hoping to find some help. recently i bought an Android Head Unit with 8227L, 2gb of ram and 16 storage. The "issue" is that there is an equalizer option in car settings in the "Sound Settings" menu but it is used only when listening to music by bluetooth, usb storage or on youtube. When trying to use spotify or youtube music, the sound is flat, it lacks bass. It's like it's ignoring the eq. I tried different versions of spotify in hope that it will have a built in eq. I looked in android setting in audio at audio enhancements but nothing is there. I will attach some pictures of the unit with different information that might be useful. Thank you in advance !

Sorry to hear about your issues. Luckily, there is a solution and not just to this problem. Check out this guide:
[GUIDE] YT9216BJ !SUPERMOD! - ROOT, Viper4Android, TWRP, Custom UI, brick recovery and more
It does not look like the original rom. It says "OS: ANDROID 10.1" and build number is simply "ANDROID_TRUNK-p0" which I have never heard of.

there is only a video that shows how to create the backup but it is for phone, nothing mentioned on how to connect the head unit to the pc, and not reffering to power. do i need to use the test points from brick recovery guide in order to create the backup ?
Edit: i saw something about connecting the usb to the 4 pin port, but do i need to use some sort of male to male usb cable ?
Second Edit: my head unit has physical buttons, i saw that the guide is mostly for units without physicial button. Is it safe ?

If you have physical buttons on your unit (like Volume Control) then it's best to use this guide instead, as you currently have Android 8 API 27 installed, judging by your Kernel version.
The procedure of backing up a Mediatek phone and backing up your head unit is exactly the same. You do not need to use Test Point method if your unit is working.
All you need to do is to follow the guide in the link I gave you, step by step and you will be able to perform a full backup.
Hi. I have got the same. No Equalizer for Radio. There is Equalizer for mp3 player ( App is called Music ), but not for FM radio app.
In Music app, I can change tones like bass and treble, but not balance or fader. I can change balance only on Car settings, but there is no option to change fader ( front and rear speakers ).
Is there any way we can add even simple Equalizer to FM radio App? Or is there another FM radio app with built-in Equalizer?
My radio is Hizpo from Hizpo Europe Store, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, 8227L CPU, Android 11 ( may be fake ).
I am trying to ask Hizpo Europe Store about this, but for now I am getting default answers.

Hizpo is known for very bad quality units, intentionally scaling down the hardware to be able to sell the head unit cheaper.
If you are within warranty, return the product.
The reason for your issues is on the hardware side. You have no audio microchip on the motherboard.

HeadUnit doesn’t support stereo sound

Hi friends,
The head unit I have right now does not support stereo sound, and when I play any music from my iPhone the sound comes from both left and right speakers at the time!
But when I play from the usb using the music app, the stereo sound coming from the right and left speakers with HD sound that means the Bluetooth apps don’t work correctly in my head unit.
Also, when I checked the developer option, I found that the setting sets in another option not as stereo sound, I tried to solve this issue from the developer settings, but when I change the voice type to stereo, the setting returns to the original.

Really thank you for your attention.
No, for one reason I have another car, and the Bluetooth working smoothly in the factory head unit. supporting stereo sound and HD sound. Meantime I opened the development options and I saw that in the Bluetooth Audio Codec setting the sound is not stereo. I tried to change it to stereo but the system didn't allow me. also, no build number and I opened the Dev options using a shortcut app in the store. it is really Stuped Headunit.

FYI
Well... OEM unit may work different, because they are completely different.
It´s a known fact, that those iPhones have problems with most of the Android head units.
You should contact the seller and ask him for a solution. May be there is one.
...btw: This is a quite old unit with Android 8. May be you can update your unit.
Look for STM32 thread in here.
