Installing Samsung apps on SM-G975F running LineageOS 19.1 - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have an SM-G975F running LineageOS 19.1 without GApps (and no MicroG either). I was hoping to install some of the Samsung apps but have run into a couple of problems.
Both the Samsung Calculator app and the Samsung Mail app installed fine but crash immediately upon opening. I find it hard to believe that the Samsung calculator app requires Google Play Services but… maybe it does?!? Could there be something else it depends on that I need to install first?
The Samsung Messages (SMS) app gives the following error when I try to install it (also see attached):
App not installed as package conflicts with an existing package.
Interestingly enough the Samsung browser installed from Aurora Store without any issues whatsoever.
Does anyone know how I could get these apps to install or what the problem might be?
Thanks,
The Fish

Samsung apps often depend on the OneUI framework that Samsung uses for their firmware. Without that framework, you'll run into problems, as you've discovered.

[Q] Play Store

Hi guys,
I've been using OmniROM for some time now and I'm liking a lot. I like their open source "philosophy" and so on but lately, I'm facing a problem that I cannot solve by myself.
I'm trying to find a way to install Play Store to gets some apps that I want/need but I don't want to install all the other Gapps that comes with the packages. I managed to get the apk but after installing it, I don't get it to work. It tries to start but before it even opens, it closes quickly...
Do I need something else in order to make it work?? Google services maybe? I wouldn't like to have more than Play Store if possible.
Greetings!

I believe PA gapps has a "micro" version which has the bare minimum needed for Play Store.
(FYI, most if not all of the Omni developers use PA Gapps - tkruzze does a great job.)
OK so I'll have to flash the Gapps...
What I don't like is that they overwrite some aosp apps :\
Ty anyway @Entropy512!
Edit: What about installing Play services + play store?? Would that be enough?

By the way @Entropy512 or anyone else, do you know which files are imperative to install Google Play (Google Play itself, GP services...)and which aren't? (Google tts...) I would like to install just the needed ones only.
Greetings!

I would go with Banks' minimal GApps. It's basically just Google Play

TKruzze provides multiple packages for the GApps, and most of them don't overwrite the AOSP apps.
In fact, as I read it now, only the "Google Stock Package" do replace AOSP browser, Calendar, Camera, Launcher, TTS, Keyboard and SMS by default by their Google products' counterpart. And there is even an easy way, using this package, to prevent some or all the AOSP apps to be replaced -- read TKruzze's posts to find out how.
The other packages don't overwrite the AOSP apps (except AOSP Calendar becoming replaced by Google Calendar). By default, they install the Google apps along side the AOSP ones.

Yup. That's why I suggested the "micro" package - I'm fairly certain this doesn't overwrite anything and includes the absolute minimum for the Play Store to work.
Now what is annoying is that some of the Play Store versions of Google apps have the same package names as AOSP variants which causes conflicts. Google Camera is one such example, which is the reason I'm in the process of renaming the AOSP-derived camera package in Omni.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna try out those options and see which suits me better

Getting Google Play Store on international Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (China)

Hello. I just got the China version of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N9100).
It doesn't come with a Google Play store. How do I go about installing the Google Play Store?
I downloaded the 5.0.32 version apk of Google Play store, and I installed it.
But when I run it, it closes or crashes. I found that apk by searching these forums.
So I was wondering if I needed to do something to make it work?
For HTC One I simply looked up Google gms in the HTC Marketplace and installed it, which ended up adding all of the Google stuff (including Google Play).
The Note 4 phone comes with a Galaxy Apps, but searching inside it does not have a Google Play installer (nor Google gms equivalent).
So my question is:
Do I need to root my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in order to get Google Play to run? It currently closes or crashes when I try to run it.
Did I install an incompatible apk for my Samsung Galaxy Note 4?
Again I am referring to the China version of Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N9100 model)
Hi, I have the same problem also. SM-N9100 does not support google play store, youtube, etc. I guess all china andriod phones is banned from access these apps. The only way out is to install another rom. Please let me know if a suitable rom is available. Thanks.
Samsung N9100
hi all,
In have the same issue. I rooted my N9100 and installed Google play services, google services framework onto the system / app folder. Changed the file permission to a system app but still wasn't able to get it running. There's an error that says the Google services framework can't be run. Maybe I install a wrong version ? Anyone can shed some light and point me to the right apk ?
There are two ways to do it
Method 1) Typical GMS pack includes a lot of junk/google bloatware:
  1、GenieWidget.apk
  2、GoogleBackupTransport.apk
  3、Gmail.apk
  4、GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
  5、GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
  6、GoogleFeedback.apk
  7、GooglePartnerSetup.apk
  8、GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
  9、GoogleServicesFramework.apk
  10、LatinIMETutorial.apk
  11、Maps.apk
  12、MarketUpdater.apk
  13、MediaUploader.apk
  14、NetworkLocation.apk
  15、SetupWizard.apk
  16、Street.apk
  17、Talk.apk
  18、Vending.apk
  19、VoiceSearch.apk
  20、YouTube.apk
so install only the apks that you need
These apks below are required in order for Play to work:
GoogleBackupTransport.apk
GoogleFeedback.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
MarketUpdater.apk
Talk.apk
Vending.apk
Copy com.android.vending.apk from \data\app to \system\app\, then turn on “Owner, Group, Other" permissions for it
Method 2)
Go to http://dl.pconline.com.cn/download/86344.html and download a auto install pack
Note:
I have not tested both methods!!
You CANNOT uninstall google framework and other bloatware once gms is installed
If you live in China and don't have VPN, don't even bother with since its all blocked
No success with Method 2 on the Note 4 (9106w). It installed it but I kept getting a Google Frameworks Stopped working error. I was able to log into my Google Account and open the Play Store but could not get a network connection. In the end I disabled Google Frameworks.
Will try to flash TWRB with Odin tomorrow.

So did you install the Method 2 app AND the app from the link you added. Hence, do I need to install both apps?

I downloaded a 44+ mb file. After unzipping it on my phone I saw a folder with many files. Did you move all the files into similar folders on your phone? I installed the apk packages and regretted it. No success so I imagine I should be using adb to push them to the proper folders.
Any hints would be helpful.
Hi,
Can I check with Samsung note 4 you tried on ? I am using N9100 rooted and just tried the link you provided i.e. V1.5. I installed it, followed the screen instructions and the phone rebooted. Hi,
Can I check with you which Samsung note 4 model do you have and worked ? I am using Samsung Note 4 model N9100 (rooted) and just tried the link you provided i.e. V1.5. I installed it, followed the screen instructions and the phone rebooted. Upon reboot an update was run. Unfortunately, I got the "Google frame work services and stopped". No luck. I wonder what is the issue ? I check the file permissions of the Google Services Framework and it was consistent with the rest of the apk files in system/app
I got the same problem. After rooting and install V1.5, I can install and open the google playstore. But there are nothing in the playstore..except retry icon.

Hi All, maybe the material in below site can helps.... if you uderstand Chinese.....

Few questions about future software updates (Lollipop) since I've been away from Samsung for a while:
1. Rooting will trip Knox, right?
2. If yes, OTA updates won't work - would I still be able to flash via Odin or CWM?
Not sure if I will definitely root yet due to warranty issues so soon after buying.
As noted above, Google stuff here is a pain at times even with a VPN (location options don't work so Google Now is less useful).
Plus, I've become used to getting apps from the Samsung and Amazon stores instead.

[FLASHABLE ZIP] Remove GApps in ROM: now support Marshmallow
Script in first post very discounted and therefore deleting not all files.
Here's updated version. Script automatically mounts /system, you don't need do it by yourself.
Script compatible with Android 2.3...6.0
Guaranteed delete will be only on CyanogenMod rom's and Nexus firmware due of possible other file naming in manufacturer stock firmware.
Probably some small bits of files can left on device (like WebView), but almost all other will be removed.
Note: script removes apps from /system partition.
Probably some of them was updated and additionally stored in internal memory.
So you need manually delete a bit of remainders by usual way.
IMPORTANT!
– Maybe some stuff or whole ROM will broken after applying this ZIP
– Script removes stock Google / CM keyboard, install 3rd party before applying!
– Script removes Google Experience Launcher, so make sure you use 3rd-party app or device will not boot!
– Script removes Hangouts, so make sure you use 3rd-party SMS app or you may unable use SMS!
– ..and may other
– Apps with embedded Google Maps such as Foursquare, Instagram and many other can't be launched / installed by any way because of lack of framework for it
– A lot of apps requests installed Google Play Store and Google Play Services which will be removed
– Network location can be disabled because it's part of gapps
– Recommended to wipe dalvik/ART-cache to rid out of unused cache files
>>> Use it at your own risk and make full backup via recovery before flashing! <<<

Oh, that's bad... But about the problems with the applications that require Google play services, with exposed framework it's possible to avoid this issue?
I wonder how it works the MIUI rom without gapps

Samsung-specific apps cannot be installed on AOSP ROMs because of changes Samsung makes to Android source code. Not only is the source code dramatically altered, Samsung includes a second framework specifically for Touchwiz. The Samsung apps are not only linked to the Android framework app, but the Samsung one as well.
The Play Store has plenty of gallery apps as well as file explorers. My Files is just a fancy name for the "Downloads" link found on AOSP. If you use the Samsung Store for themes, you will have to learn to use Substratum instead. And of course you have the Play Store for your apps, including Substratum. If the changes made when moving to Android 7.x ROMs are too dramatic for you, then you need to either install a Touchwiz ROM like WizCyan, or you need to go back to stock.

Help me port Samsung Apps on mi a1

Hello people ^^
I'm trying to get samsung's music player app and some other samsung apps on my mi a1 because honestly i hate all other players.
I tried several methods where I put the apps in my system/priv-apps and change permissions and reboot,
It shows up perfectly in app drawer but forces close instantly.
I reviewd the Log and it said "Samsung SDK not found".
Is there a way to bypass this? Preferably without flashing any custom roms.
And if not will a custom samsung based rom play the app?
Or can I modify the apk and remove the samsung SDK requirement then recompile it maybe?
Thanks in advance ^^
