Can't connect Zlink Android Auto wired/wireless - Android Head-Units

Hi,
I'm using S22 Ultra with the latest version of Zlink installed on my BMW F32. I am unable to connect android auto via usb; nothing opens after plugging the phone in. Apple Carplay works wirelessly.
However, wirelessly the phone is able to connect, but android auto won't open. My phone attempts to open android auto but it would just close right away.
I've followed various instructions from other treads such as android auto developer mode settings as well as the Bluetooth/hotspot settings but no luck.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I would look, if connection is on wire, that USB port is activated and not ver. 1.1 but higher and faster port like 2.0. or 3.0.
On the other hand, see that autolink option, if you have one in facory settings, is activated.

How do I check if it's 2.0 or 3.0?

Insert if you have some USB drive 2.0/3.0 in port USB.
If system finds USB drive it is ok if not it is 1.1

I plug it it via usb and android auto doesn't load. Seems it's not detected

Try with older USB drive or USB cable that is meant for ver. 1.1
Sometimes if you have multiple ports in car (USB) correct one is USB that don't have 5V (charger for mobile phones) but regular ones 3V 2.1 Ampere

I have the same problem on my android head unit with a xiaomi 12.
The pictures could be mine, exactly the same.

Samsung Galaxy S5 USB 3.0 Not connecting

Hey guys, quick question for those of you with the s5, and the usb 3.0 cable.
I am trying to transfer files from my windows 7 pc. with the usb 3.0 cable.
USB 2.0 works just fine, I switch over to usb 3.0, and the phone immediately dissapears from my pc.
Switch back to 2.0, and it reappears.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Maybe you have a faulty usb 3.0 cable. Try with a different usb 3.0 cable. If it's not the cable try on different computer. After that remains only one possibility: a faulty usb connector which means service. BTW you have usb 3.0 drivers installed on your w7?
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah i have a problem with the usb 3.0 too..
When i connect my phone via usb 2.0 it works fine but when i connect it via the usb 3,0 its still only shows up as a usb 2.0 device and the both only charge at 98ma :-/ brand new usb 3.0 cable. unistalled usb 3.0 drivers still no luck.

I've got this issue as well....
except when I attempt it on my work PC with W7 x64 it works in USB2.0 and USB3.0 mode. At home on my W7 x64 build it shows up under my computer in USB2.0 mode but disappears when switching to USB3.0 mode....
tried reinstalling drivers and all that jazz and no luck.
tried two USB3.0 cables and neither work on my home rig. i'm stumped
Plug in another USB 3.0 device such as a memory stick into your computer to determine whether the issue originates from the phone/USB cable or your computer. From what you described we cannot identify the root cause!
Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
I had this issue too, then found it was my motherboard being the issue, i turned xHCI to on instead of auto (in the BIOS) and now when i connect my S5 with USB 3.0 cable the option for that mode will show on the phone.
Auto should work but it didn't seem to allow the S5 to trigger it, maybe because the S5 defaults to USB 2.0 and then you say to it to use USB 3.0
I do notice when switching modes the phone will vasish from the computer and then after a moment or 3 show up again
http://www.tonymacx86.com/lion-desk...te-uefi-motherboards-xhci-mode-explained.html
fiddled with bios settings on ASUS mobo... still no luck
a) Click on “Start” and Right Click on “Computer” and select “Manage”.
b) Now select “Device Manager” and Right Click on the individual “USB controller drivers” and select “Uninstall”.
c) Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
if the cable is a cheap one that claimed to be usb 3.0 from eBay bin it and buy one from a decent retailer or Samsung
thanks for the ideas, tried device manager uninstall and reboot. still no luck. I"m using the provided samsung usb 3.0 cable so no issues there. very frustrating I cant use my phone connection to it's full potential

Old thread I know but here is what seems is the answer.
It seems when first connecting the usb it always defaults to usb2, but then can goto the usb settings on the phone afterwards and switch to media usb3 mode. I have not found a way to make it default to usb3 mode.

Appreciate the post but the issue wasnt actually switching into usb3 mode. That I knew how to do, it was that when I do switch the phone to USB3 mode it disappears from my file explorer and I cannot access the phone storage media unless I switch back to USB2 and then it pops up again in file explorer. I still havent found a solution and have come to the conclusion it is a hardware issue likely tied to my motherboard and have just accepted it and used it in it's limited form
I don't even see any option on my S5 to switch to USB3.....
Is this option device-specific?? I have the international version SM-G900H
Edit: never mind....the cable I had was a fake....
I tested my S5 with a cable from a USB 3.0 external hdd and it worked...

So are you saying that if the cable is faulty (or in other words, USB 3.0 is not achievable with the current connection) that the USB 3.0 option simply does not appear on the phone? That may explain why I am also only seeing MTP or PTP with a 3.0 cable and hub
Reading these replies and I still don't have a solution.
I have a Lenovo P50 ThinkPad and I normally connect my S5 via USB 2.0, but I'm wanting to transfer about 20gb of files off my microSD card to my machine. When I connect with 2.0, I can't even get the entire folder to show in the navigator window.
I tried to connect to the 3.0 ports, which I use with my external HDD with no problems. I'm even using the same cable.
And yes, it's a legit 3.0 cable.
Still no solution...

Using wifi modules usb port for another device

Hi everyone,
I was developing a tablet application for controlling a circuit but now i stuck here somewhere.. there are a few options that i think about what to do after this stage. I need 2 usb ports , one for a usb serial converter (namely pl-2303) and other one is a standart flash drive. I tried to use a hub connected to an OTG cable with no luck. When i plug only one of my devices to OTG port they all work but when i plug 2 of them to hub system freeze or doesn't mount my flash drive. I tried 3 different hubs they are not working. Sometimes i made this setup running with an sd card reader instead of flash and a digitus converter instead of pl-2303. Then i though this can be an issue with the USB 1.1 - 2.0 specifications because pl-2303 is a USB 1.1 device and the rest is 2.0.
After i realize the realtek wifi module in the tablet is also mounted to a USB port i removed the module to check if i can connect one of my devices to that port. But as usual the wifi driver of the system is controlling this port , so when i try to power up the port, system checks if it can find the realtek module and when it cant detect realtek wireless module just shuts down the port back. While this happens i can see my device is connected to system for a few seconds before the driver shut it down.
So this is the all story. I just need this 2 device to work together. I am waiting for your opinions
The tablet is a ATM 7021 processor based cheap tablet.
Thanks in advance.

Kenwood car reciver does not recognize HTC 10 via USB

Hello!
I recently installed a Kenwood KDC-BT768HD in my vehicle. This unit has USB 2.0 ports and is supposed to support Andoird Audio. When I plug my (or my wife's) HTC 10 into the Kenwood's USB ports, with the HTC USB cable, the HTC 10 will charge, but the Kenwood does not recognize that anything is plugged in to it, and the HTC 10 doesn't recognize that anything has been plugged into it either. The Kenwood just says "NO DEVICE" and If I go to the USB settings in the HTC 10, everything is greyed out, so there is no way to set the USB mode. The HTC 10 works fine when I plug it into my PC or USB OTG cable, and the Kenwood recognizes when other things are plugged into its USB ports. Bluetooth seems to work fine. I am running stock Andorid 7.0 with the latest updates from Verizon.
I had USB debugging on, but turning it off didn't fix the problem. I also went through all the USB modes in the Developler options, and turned off Developer options altogether, but neither of those fixed the problem. I tried a different third-party cable that works with my PC, but it doesn't work either.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Do any other phones work with this method?
I remember my brothers Civic came with USB for audio, and you could let in a USB stick for example, but it would only charge the device when plugged in.
Could just be how the headset is?

If you google around, various posters in various forums report that it works, some even with older HTC devices. I have never tried it before, because I never had a car stereo with a USB input prior to the Kenwood I installed.

When I had similar issues as you on my old Samsung phone and Kenwood deck, the problem was the USB cable I was using. It was not recognized by either one of the devices as a data cable. Actually the cable itself was fine for other uses but just wasn't playing nice with one or both of the devices. Have you tried with the oem cable that came with the phone itself?
In my opinion, if your Kenwood supports Android Auto and yet that feature doesn't pick up your phone with Android Auto app at all, then it's a sign that the cable you're using is not up to the task.

I have a similar problem with a Pioneer and MirrorLink, it worked fine before Android 7. You should see if there is a required Kenwood app that needs to be installed, that's the only way I could get my 10 with Android 7 to be recognized by my stereo.

There is a Kenwood app that I have installed, but it says it supports Android 6...nothing about Android 7. When I run the app have have the phone plugged in, it doesn't recognize the Kenwood.
Upon plugging the Android phone into the Kenwood, the Kenwood is supposed to offer to download the app, but it doesn't, likely because it doesn't recognize that anything is plugged in.

I feel like this is a problem with 7.0, it would probably work on 6. Is there a firmware update for the stereo itself?
My phone wouldn't be recognized in my Audi either, tried everything, wife's iPhone car play worked fine.... very frustrating... So I would just use it to charge. Then one day it started working! So much better than the Audi MMI. No idea what changed to make it work. Maybe Google play services updated?

The only other thing you could do is hope HTC or Kenwood releases an update that fixes the problem or try an Android 6 ROM if the phone is rooted.
How is your bluetooth streaming? I have a Tmobile HTC 10 and have audio skipping issues with any of the newer Kenwood decks. It works perfectly with the BT515HD a 2014 model, I upgraded to the new KDC x701, skipping issues, switched to the top of the line KDc x998, another early 2014 model, streams perfectly but tags on apps like Pandora don't go through. Switched again to the new release of what I started with, BT518HD, bluetooth streaming skipping issues. I f you can stream perfectly, I'd like to try the firmware you are currently on.

AllWinner T8 - Not showing USB connection when using cable from Laptop

I have tried several different cables and no success. Every time I plug a USB Cable into my old laptop (Dell Precision M4600) and into the USB Cable from the AllWinner T8 head unit, it does not recognize that there is a USB Connected. I have no idea what I'm doing and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? I've tried all four USB ports on the laptop (3.0 and 2.0), a monoprice male a to male a usb data cable, a QVS 3 feet 'high speed' 2.0 data cable, a transfer cable (added to computer as F: drive, unable to access headunit files and PhoenixSuite did not detect Android Device nor did my computer beyond Portable Device listing 'F:'). I have uninstalled drivers, updated drivers, made sure there are no unknown devices. Plugging into the laptop nothing is added in device manager, so I'm clueless at this point.
USB Debugging is on. USB is set to use MTP, not charging. It doesn't even show up as recognized. I used terminal emulator to check and see if as 'su' if there were any devices using adb devices, nothing showed.
When I use my phone charger cable, plug into the usb cable from headunit and into phone it recognizes the device. When I plug the charger cable from phone into laptop, it recognizes phone. When I use the same exact cable with an adapter to convert to Male A, it does not detect a usb device connected on either end. No device under Device Manager, no 'usb connected' on head unit.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do for the head unit to recognize that there is a USB Cable connected?
Both your Laptop and your HU are USB Hosts. Hosts cannot communicate. Only a host with clients.
Some HU can be switched to client mode in some Setting page, usually hard to find. And often client mode is then active only on one specific USB port of the HU.
And note, not all HUs have the capability at all.
If you want to use adb, then try via WiFi.

Is there anyway around this? I'd like to try and upgrade the head unit from 7.1.2 to 8.1 but if I can't get the unit to communicate then I am out of luck.

Hi, can you finally update?

Difference in USB ports ?

Hi All,
I have a Kunfine unit. Just another Chinese clone, with the 2 usb ports connected to the back. This is the third one I have and I wonder if there is a difference in the USB ports? My DAB + USB adapter is only working on the port with 5 connectors while the one with 4 connectors doesn,t recognize him. They are wired the same so shouldnt make a difference.
TIA

No one....? Am I the only one with this ? Cause I was thinking, it looks like one port is V2 and the other V1.1. Can this be the point ?
That is not an Android Auto HU, so you aren't likely to get much in this forum. I would go ask in the Android HU forum.

According to this product page (for a TS10-type device) only the 6-pin USB port is capable of high-speed data transfer for CarPlay, etc. It says that the 4-pin is charge-only.
I'm in the process of integrating my own Kunfine UIS7862-based (TS10) unit. The 6-pin USB pigtail works with a USB flash drive and Android Auto. The 4-pin worked with the flash drive, but not AA.
Anyone else experience this?

If other devices are working then it's not for charging only. I may be an issue of too less power. Could be helpful to test with an active USB hub.
