Try holding voldown+power until it reboots. Let me know if it doesn't work.

[Q] Boot loop - cannot access recovery or download mode

Hello, maybe this was posted a lot of times, I just wanna get a second opinion before getting this to the shop. My phone (GT-i9500) suddenly went on to boot loop. I cannot enter download mode nor recovery mode. When attempting to put on download mode, when it tells me to press volume up, nothing happens and it restarts again. I was partially able to boot to recovery but it only showed the TWRP splash page then it reboots again. Does this mean that I have a broken motherboard? Any suggestions?

Yes why not but if the battery is defective that will not fix it or help.
Did you try to go into recovery with the phone plug in to the charger? how it does behave?

Still the same. Sometimes it would show the battery icon but only for a split second.

Mate ,
It looks like is in constant reset.......seems like a defective power button, have it check should not be too expensive

Draining your battery is always bad. It will damage your battery.

Let us know how it goes
The exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. It happened exactly a year after I got my GT-I9500. Around midnight one weekend the phone had quite a bit of charge and was working fine. As I unlocked the screen to check a WhatsApp message, the phone suddenly shut down and entered a bootloop with the same symptoms as yours. I couldn't enter my stock recovery and download mode would only come up for a few seconds and it would re-enter the bootloop. I tried numerous battery pulls and made it loop over quite a bit and then gave up after an hour and left the battery out. Throughout the day I occasionally tried my luck to no avail. Maybe after 48 hours or less - a day without trying my luck included - since the initial incident, I carried it to the shop and as the employee put the battery in the phone I was baffled. The phone booted normally, no issues and has worked perfectly fine since then. She said sometimes our phones need a little rest.
I've also read that our model has had some battery problems like swelling. I noticed no swelling by the way. So my advice, leave the battery out for a day or two. My phone was not rooted at the time and was running stock TouchWiz Android 4.4.2. Good luck!

So I finally got it repaired, the guy replaced something, about the size of 2x1 mm. He said it was for the power button. He charged me around $10 which I think is not bad.

Hi Mate,
Great to know , glad it was something cheap and easy.

Is the first boot supposed to take this long? :/

Just got mine, set it all up and... It's just been stuck on the swirling color boot screen. Was on there for five minutes, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it's been ten minutes now of swirling color balls. :/

D'oh. :/ I guess mine is DOA, then? I don't know what else to do with it, at this point. *sigh* That kinda sucks.

Just wait maybe and see if it loads it could just be a software bug. I would call google they are really good at replacing things fast.

Well, I let it sit for over 30 minutes, and it just kept doing the boot animation. I sent an e-mail to Google, I just hate having to go through this process of shipping the broken unit back to them and waiting around for the new one. Sigh. I guess I'll try it again tomorrow, but if it's still not working, it must be dead. Sigh. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given my "luck"... v_v

They will general so you a new one with 2 day shipping for free and then you send the old one back once you get the need one. Just give them a call
Have you tried a factory reset?
Hold the button while you plug it in, let go once it starts flashing fast (see the process at 3:40 in this video). This gets you to the bootloader. From there, you can click the button until it shows "RECOVERY MODE" and then click & hold the button for about 5 seconds.
This will reboot into the recovery, where you'll see "No command." Do the click & hold for 5 seconds again, it should bring up the Android recovery menu. Then you can do single-clicks to get to the factory reset option, and click & hold to select.
Maybe give that a go and see if it comes alive.
Mine was the same. Factory reset cured it.

Well that was annoying as hell, BUT IT WORKED

S7 edge bootloader exception?

Dug this old phone out of a drawer to see if I could try to fix it, I had abandoned it a while ago since I just couldn't figure it out. I'm getting a bootloader exception when I try to turn on the phone [RST_STAT = 0x10000000]. No Samsung logo. I can't boot into recovery or download mode at all. It's an exynos model 935W8. I'm going to try to make a USB jig, but if anyone else has any ideas as to why this is happening please tell me. Thanks in advance!

Being on that screen, press the home button quickly 3 times and wait 2 seconds, do it (it worked for me the third time) until the mobile restarts itself and you will see an android icon in the center of the screen , then you can manually restart in download mode. It worked for me in G935F. If it helps, let me know. Luck. PS: I'm sorry for my bad English.

Sorry, but could you be a little more clear? Wait 2 seconds and do what?
For anyone searching and getting frustrated:
I botched some flashing and got the bootloader exception 0x100000 and 0x200000 (with some amount of zeroes, don't remember). I long pressed the home button when it showed the exception and there appeared an android icon saying forced uploading something something. After that I got the phone back in download mode by holding volume down, home, and power. I immediately flashed a combination file (search, but make sure you get the right one for your phone) and it booted back into the engineering ROM. Your phone is not definitely unsaveable! Keep trying new things.
Now I have to figure out how to remove the FRP-lock, but that's for another thread...
