I am using this mounted to a wall for home automation. As I see it now, my options for keeping the screen always-on are:
1) Screen always on, staying on homepage without ever going to the lockscreen
2) Lockscreen only after turning off display with physical button and then turning back on
Is there any way to have the device 'sleep' to the lockscreen after a set time, instead of sleeping by turning off the display? I am trying to get a lockscreen (with clock) that the device reverts to after inactivity, but always keeps the display on.
Alternatively, any other way via an app to display a clock screen after inactivity, that can be swiped/tapped to then show the normal homescreen when you need to use the tablet?
Thanks.

Is there a way to have the screen auto-lock without having to manually set it? It seems the only option I have at this moment is if I have the screen blacked out. However, I would like to keep the screen visible (to view the time) and auto-lock instead of the screen powering off.
Why would you want that ? Backlight is major battery drainer.
My practice is to turn off my HD after use (I use 3rd party app to turn off the machine instead of pressing the power button), and put it back to the pocket. Recently, I found that my HD have do something when it is off, such as,
- make a phone call
- Go the the TF3D Photo tab and viewing a photo
- Showing the Power setting page (I set it to the LSK)
I'm 100% sure that the machine is off, so I wonder if my machine got a problem?
are you REALLY 100% sure it is OFF and not only in standby (aka screen off)? there is a old version of a 3rd party app that when you tap the poweroff icon goes standby and NOT poweroff. you should disable the 3rd party app and shut down your device using the default power button.
instead if you like having it only in standby you should keep in mind that standby does NOT by any means autolocks the screen. I'll try to explain:
you put the machine in standby and put it back in the pocket. you receive, dunno, a ring or a sms or something else. automatically the screen turns itself on, activating the touchscreen, and then all hell breaks loose
there are some solutions to this: a long press of the end key enables the default lock feature of the device. then you can turn off the screen safely (or almost safely)
also you might want to install s2u2 and set it to autolock on screen off. you turn off the screen (either with your app or the power button) and when resuming you have a neat "slide to unlock" screen (iphone-like). This is the solution i suggest more.
I am quite sure i talked too much but i hope i've been useful anyway
I've been using the Cookie home tab lockscreen for quite some time (using HD2 with the Energy ROM), but found that it interfered with the Manila music player (made my device crash), so now I'm using the standard Wm 6.5 lockscreen, which I found is decent too.
However, I noticed that the touchscreen isn't locked, so touching the screen makes the device stay on. I also had my settings for the backlight of my device to never go off, which made the screen stay on, even when the lockscreen was active.
Is there a way to set the delay for the screen/device to go off when using the standard wm6.5 lockscreen, independently of the backlight settings?
Can the touchscreen also be locked?
I've noticed that battery drain increased significantly since using the standard lock, probably because of this touchscreen problem making the device go on continuouslyy in my pocket (accidently pressing a button when it's in my pocket and then keeping it on because of the touchscreen)
BTW: S2U is a good option indeed, but I like the standard lockscreen
It's strange that when i press the lockscreen botton after screen is turned off by screen timeout,my phone doesn't show lockscreen and directly jumps to the launcher. But if I lock my screen manually by pressing the lockscrren botton, next time the lockscreen will come up.
MAYBE SOME APPS IS STOP THE LOCKSCRREN FROM COMING UP.How can I find it?
I have no problem in system setting.Swipe to lock has been chosen.
Check your settings again.. There is a setting where you can adjust the time how long your phone will remain unlocked after your phone has gone to sleep.
So my mxpe lockscreen wasnt timing out at all, using latest google phone wakes up the device leaving lockscreen opened and if plugging in the turbopower waking the lockscreen it would stay opened. I found this solution to work.

Ok. So recently I used "power saving" mode. I took it off immediately after I didn't need it any longer. For some reason, the Android system on my phone didn't register that, so my phone lock screen kept time-outing after 3-seconds (kinda annoying when trying to use Samsung Pay).
Anyways, do what I did: simply go to Settings>System>Battery>Power Saving Mode>On
Then just turn it back off. Kinda like cycling it, but only once. This time around, my Edge seemed to pick it up, and register it. My timeout screen is now longer than those annoying 3-seconds.

I guess it didnt fix it. The sleep when in active is set for screen and lock screen. This sux. I have sleep set @30min so my lockscreen will stay alive for 30min.
Found a real solution that works. Found here.

Some stated to goto developer options/running services and kill one by one each service and power off the screen and back on till timeout works on screen well I did this and found that Material Notification Shader kept the timeout screen from timing out so I disabled the app and I have a timeout on the screen after I power on the screen and/or plug in the power cord.
