It's strange that when i press the lockscreen botton after screen is turned off by screen timeout,my phone doesn't show lockscreen and directly jumps to the launcher. But if I lock my screen manually by pressing the lockscrren botton, next time the lockscreen will come up.
MAYBE SOME APPS IS STOP THE LOCKSCRREN FROM COMING UP.How can I find it?
I have no problem in system setting.Swipe to lock has been chosen.
Check your settings again.. There is a setting where you can adjust the time how long your phone will remain unlocked after your phone has gone to sleep.

Hi - just got my new HD2 - great phone! Added some tweaks etc from this site (thanks very much BTW!)
I've got a question about the lock screen. When i press the off button the screen goes black, I then switch it on and the lock screen appears. Then after a few seconds the screen brightness decreases and then the screen turns off again. But what I want is for the screen brightness to decrease but the screen not to go off, so that I can easily unlock the phone without having to strain my fingers to get to the buttons in the corner to switch the screen off. I've changed the dimming and off settings in the settings menu but it doesnt appear to affect the lock page. Any ideas??
very strange, i have just noticed that my phone lock screen is now gone.
when i hit the hang up/power off button instead of locking the screen it goes black but when i hit another button it comes right back to the main today screen but no lock screen. bit of a problem when it does in the pocket.
any help??
hi
start - settings - menu -all settings - lock -(untick prompt if phone unused for) ----follow instructions -- reboot
regards
op
hold down your power button and lock the screen using that, then when you put the phone back into sleep it will wake up locked.
You may have to do this everytime after a reboot. Eventually mine sorted itself out and I no longer have to do it
This happened to me after I installed the HTC SMS patch. It also makes it so you can only preview your emails and not go into it by selecting. Installed and hard reset twice thinking it was a fluke. Nope.
i got the lock screen back by going to Settings / Change background of lock screen, then softreset. don't know why it went missing and why i got it back doing this... but it worked.
I have searched everywhere & cannot find anything on changing the time that the lockscreen turns back off without installing a custom lockscreen.
Do any of you know how to dig into the filesystem to change this?
I simply want to change the timeout to 5 seconds, so when I turn my phone on to check the time, it turns off by its self in just a couple seconds.
I dont even use the lockscreen for long anyway.
I have the Display timeout to 15 seconds & its great, I also have the lockscreen to appear immediately when the power button is pressed (a pretty obvious choice of settings, since I want to have the lockscreen present as soon as possible.
hi
i recently bought xiaomi a1 mobile and i have problem that driving me crazy
I've set the swipe pattern lock but when i click on the power button it doesn't show the pattern lock immediately
it shows the clock screen
so every time i want to use my phone i first need to swipe up and then swipe the pattern
its wasn't like that on my previous device
when you click the power it should show the pattern area on the bottom of the clock
how can i make it work this way? i tried to disable the screen saver but it didn't fix the problem
As far as I know that's how it works on oreo. Power button shows the lock screen and then you can either swipe up or double tap on a notification in order to bring up your selected unlock method
So my mxpe lockscreen wasnt timing out at all, using latest google phone wakes up the device leaving lockscreen opened and if plugging in the turbopower waking the lockscreen it would stay opened. I found this solution to work.

Ok. So recently I used "power saving" mode. I took it off immediately after I didn't need it any longer. For some reason, the Android system on my phone didn't register that, so my phone lock screen kept time-outing after 3-seconds (kinda annoying when trying to use Samsung Pay).
Anyways, do what I did: simply go to Settings>System>Battery>Power Saving Mode>On
Then just turn it back off. Kinda like cycling it, but only once. This time around, my Edge seemed to pick it up, and register it. My timeout screen is now longer than those annoying 3-seconds.
Click to collapse
I guess it didnt fix it. The sleep when in active is set for screen and lock screen. This sux. I have sleep set @30min so my lockscreen will stay alive for 30min.
Found a real solution that works. Found here.

Some stated to goto developer options/running services and kill one by one each service and power off the screen and back on till timeout works on screen well I did this and found that Material Notification Shader kept the timeout screen from timing out so I disabled the app and I have a timeout on the screen after I power on the screen and/or plug in the power cord.
