I have moved a file that i should flash in the phone internal storage, but when i try opening the /sdcard directory i can only see some folders with random names.
So i think that the sdcard is encrypted because when the phone boots to system the files are here.
I need to know how to disable the internal storage encryption at least when i am in recovery mode.

There's really only two ways to get around this - one is by disabling encryption (from within system), and the other is by decrypting in TWRP. If TWRP is not able to decrypt using PIN/password/pattern, that leaves you with only one option.

I have tried searching for an option in the system settings but i cant find anything.
Huawei might be different, but on my Pixel 5: Settings > Security > More security settings > Encryption and credentials. Encryption can only be disabled after a factory reset, which will wipe data.

Hello, guys. I saw this thread today and thought of doing the same thing for Moto G. I just adapted it, some apps and odex were differents. So, here it is.

Way to install:
Put it on /sdcard and flash by recovery. After, wipe dalvik cache.
Things to do:
Give some love to this ugly op
Delete apps you suggest, as i couldn't add more because i don't have a backup and didn't want mess it all :S

hi dude, this is great, so can you make an scrip that just have the esential gapps? just like if we install the "minimal gapps", if you can do it, i have another question, this will break OTA updates? thanks!

Yes because you have made changes to the system. Any missing files will prevent you from applying OTA updates.
BTW why not just use the built-in method of disabling apps in Android? Once they have been disabled and you reboot they won't be launched, won't take up resources etc etc. Deleting them from the system is just daft since you cannot reclaim that space for your own files.

Is space from deleted apps really not reclaimed? That's strange...so for example the 5,52 MB available (or better the free MB amount of those 5,52) won't increase after deleting built-in apps?

Just disabling your apps won't free much internal memory as deleting apks will.

Deleting apps on the /system partition will not give you any additional space on /data either, so there is no point in deleting them. Disabling them is the more logical way if you want to get rid of them.

The internal memory and the /system are two separate partitions. You cannot access the free space on /system unless you are rooted (and you have limited use of it even if you are rooted, for example you can move apps there with titanium backup, but cannot use it for storing media files).
Great! Works perfectly.
The general performance is slightly improved, and the battery life is better than stock. With the Faux123 kernel, the battery life (if correctly configured) is impressive.
Thans a lot.
Which apps are being the deleted exactly? (Did i miss a post about that?)
I wanted to bypass the kitkat restrictions and be able to upload directly to the external SD card with AirDroid, but this seriously backfired on me lol. Ever since editing the platform.xml file in /system/etc/permissions/ and rebooting the phone I've been stuck in a continuous force close loop. I've wiped the cache but this didn't improve anything. I was able to turn all data connections off which actually prevents the force closing from happening, but that seriously diminishes how smart my smartphone is so staying like that is not an option
Now that I've stopped the messages from happening, I've noticed that my internal SD isn't being recognized anymore. Camera doesn't work, the file manager shows zero files and my gallery doesn't show any pictures either. Same for the MP3 player. Most apps are broken now, but some who don't require an internet connection still work.
At this point I'm thinking that I've probably corrupted my internal SD? I think my system partition is fine as I can still run apps and use the system as it should, but I can no longer create files, maps or do anything that requires my internal SD.
Are there any suggestions as to what I should do next? Formatting/factory resets are a last resort so I'm hoping anything can be done to recover my phone! Thanks in advance!

My PC is able to recognize the internal memory and that there is only 2,7GB of free space (which seems about right). However, when I enter the drive it appears empty. Windows isn't able to see anything. So in that regard Windows is acting the same as my phone.
As for platform.xml, I added <group gid=”media_rw” /> to “WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE“ and didn't do anything else besides that. It's really weird how this happened in the first place.
Any suggestions how to go from here? =)
edit;
I also removed the added permission but this didn't change a thing.

Should have probably tried this. Instead I became frustrated with the device and did a factory reset (which didn't solve a thing) so the problem is somewhere in the system which is causing the errors. Going to flash the latest stock rom in a bit and HOPEFULLY the phone will work again.

A factory reset will only wipe the /data part. Because you did something in /system that part is untouched. A reflash should fix it.

hi,
As you were "playing around " with your externalSD why you don't copy everything you have on it , format it and see if it works ..before restoring anything onto it
I am having a problem downloading anything from Google chrome app. It starts off getting the download setup and then automatically goes to queued and continues to stay that way....
Also having problems with downloading the latest chrome update in the Google play store. It just continually just sits in the downloading state and never changes.
I also can't remove or delete files with root explorer. Says process was failed no matter what I do.
I am running a clean install of pure nexus 12-1 build with, pure nexus gapps, and kyro 5.8 kernel.

check unknown sources in security, clear google play services cache, set root explorer to read/write (r/w instead of r/o or read only). These should have been done upon installing the rom and root explorer but can't hurt to check redundancies nonetheless

All of these things were taken care of before I put together the post. I checked the unknown sources, wiped cache for google play services, also set to R/W for root explorer. I have also tried to clear cache on google play store and tried a older version. Went to into recovery and wiped dalvik and cache, then rebooted and no change. Also wiped everything but internal storage and reinstalled everything with no change. Thanks for looking into the post though! Any other help would be greatly appreciated!
If you have any backups, I'd suggest you restore them
I just tried a clean install of Pure Nexus rom 12-1 and Pure Nexus gapps with no other apps installed or changes to settings and its still the same results
I have also came to find out that I cant move files around when connected to a PC on MTP mode. BUT I did find that I can move and delete files all I want in recovery TWRP. It seems to be only a problem when booted up and running that wont allow anything. But when in recovery its doesn't? Any insight would be GREATLY Appreciated!
Now I have flashed everything back to the latest stock img but did not relock and unlock the bootloader again. Followed the instructions in section 9 of this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928. Also did not wipe internal storage. Then continued to boot the phone with STILL the exact same problems!!!! What is going on here?!!!
It also force closes my camera when trying to save the picture.. But it will take the photo..... My bluetooth will not connect to my huawei watch.. any ideas at all? anyone!?

I did not wipe internal storage. I didnt think that was the issue. I flashed everything back to stock but did not lock the bootloader again. What is otg usb? I have already backed up my devices files on my computer.
So do u guys think I just need to format my internal storage, reboot and then just reinstall my internal storage via usb when rebooted?

Yes, but do not just throw your files back onto your device.
Do as indicated below, or as close to this as possible...this assumes that you've properly backed up your files, and ready to nuke...
1. Either dive into TWRP, or via fastboot (or a toolkit like Wugfresh), wipe your internal memory
2. Factory reset your device
3. Install whatever rom you want
4. Only copy the contents of your folders, NOT the folders themselves.
Item 4 is critical, inasmuch as your device automatically recreates folders on your phone, including downloads, etc.
The folder labeled camera inside the folder labeled "DCIM" only gets created after you've taken a photo...so you can see why just throwing folders and files back to your phone creates a hot mess.
One drawback of using TWRP is that when restoring files from your computer to your device, they'll have a date of 1970 or something similar...the upside is, of course, is convenience and speed.
Good luck!

You have an alternative...rename the folders on your computer to something like "downloads2" or something similar, and just drag the entire folder.
But yes, do not, under any circumstances, copy the folder of the same name.

I'm a weird one and always eipe my internal storage. When I came from stock to this I doenloaded all the files I needed including the latest vender, erased all partitions under advanced wipe besides internal, then flashed the img's and zips "Purenexus and gapps" then formatted internal. Been doing it this way for years and have yet to ever have a bad flash or problems. Cant say the same for people trying to keep their stuff. I always say if it is important, back it up. I always put my pictures on the pc before I flash roms. But that's just me. I don't want files left from the previous OS because i've just seen problems arise because of it.
great job mic and jrb...
After updating to oreo,i couldn't find how to clear cached app, used to be in storage but couldn't find it now..pls help
Cache cleaning has to be done in individual apps in Oreo, don't know why they did that !
Hope some senior members suggest a suitable app for that, if available, thanks
You can try SD maid, it is a very useful app for cleaning out junk from your device. Also : CCleaner.
Those apps and others apps didn't really get the job done,i check individual apps, the caches still remains, the only app that really get the job done is titanium backup but its required root access
To clear cache
In Oreo you can clear cache --- setting-> apps & notifications-> app info -> click on app -> storage -> clear cache. It seems very lengthy but it works ..

I have used odin too.
I dont know if there's an app which does that.
Flash oreo without flashing userdata partition (I haven't tried it yet. So first backup internal storage befor trying it. Just to be safe)
You can use flash all and edit that file and remove line with userdata
I can give you more proper instructions. 7 hours later.

I'm running into a problem with the built in oem 'Audio Effects' equalizer app. I've tried clearing the cache, clearing data, etc, and it just keeps crashing every time I try to access - Even in safe mode. When clearing the data, I notice that the User Data of 119kb is not deleting. This app was running perfectly for along time. However, recently I was adjusting the EQ for a new set of BT speakers and it crashed. It has never been able to run since then, so I'm guessing that User Data got corrupted some how.
Short of doing a full factory reset, I'd like to figure out how to access and delete this apps User Data, in hopes this will clear the problem. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to get to the system files? I've tied connecting to a PC, Astro, etc, and they remain hidden. I have only been able to get as far as Internal Shared Storage > Android > Data > Com.Motorola.AudioEffects > Files, but the folder is empty. I cannot figure out or see where this 119kb of User Data is?
Any tips? Thanks!!
