Hello, I noticed a issue when using my Nothing Phone.
When using my phone's speakers to play music or a media, and opening apps like banking, the bottom speaker of my phone turns off and music plays through the top speaker in a low quality (similar to how voice calls audio are managed). I have to manually pause and resume the music/media after leaving the app to make the bottom speaker work again.
Anyone has noticed a similar issue?
What could be a way to fix it?
The 2 things that could cause this in my mileage would be the biometric prompt or the flag-secure element of the app, but I don't see why it would affect audio.

Has anyone noticed how the audio from the headphone jack sounds horrible unless an action is taken as in below examples?
1. In the original SE configuration (non-Manila), using the Media Xperience panel, when playing an MP3 for the first time, the audio quality is awful. When you trigger an event that causes a system sound to be played (e.g. raise the volume all the way up with the side volume buttons), suddenly the music sounds GREAT, or should I say normal.
2. With the Manila cabs installed (here), when you use the MP3 player the first time, the audio quality is awful. Trigger an event that causes the system sound (e.g. press the Hang-up /lock key), suddenly the music sounds great again. If you stay in the MP3 player, it sounds great. However, if you leave it (e.g. go to stocks view) and come back, broken again.
Anyone else encounter this or knows how to permanently fix it (registry setting?).
Thanks in advance.
when any kind of audio is being played back, if I unlock or wake the screen the audio is interrupted/paused. This occurs when playing back audio through the phone's speaker, bluetooth, or headsets.
I have also noticed that it sometimes makes the same sound as when I start Google Now/Voice search, but not always. I have some programs like Media Button Router that are being impacted because their text to speech outputs are being silenced whenever they wake up the phone.
I have gone through and disabled app after app using titanium backup, but haven't found the culprit yet.
Screen lock sounds are disabled as well.
Even things like audio control of the alarm no longer work properly because the audio is being interrupted when the screen is woken up.
any ideas?
bump: any ideas? this is a really annoying issue.
Hi,
Recently came across this strange behavior on my nexus 6p device, not sure if it’s a bug or if I am missing something. This is what happens:
I am listening to media, for example a podcast from Pocket casts with wired headphones. As soon as I lock the screen and put the device in my pocket the sound stops, I go in to the application that is playing the sound and see that it is still playing even though I don’t hear any sound. I use the volume rocker to have a look at the sound settings and don’t see any reason as to why it has stopped producing sound. The same goes for Spotify so it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the applications. In order to get the sound back I need to pause the podcast\song and press play again
I can almost simulate this whenever I want by putting it in my pocket, it gets muted right when the lining of my pants covers the bottom speaker (on the usb side).
Found a solution, *I went into the "Ok Google" detection settings and disabled "Always on" and "Trusted voice" and then deleted my recorded recognition, it seems to have fixed the problem.
If I turn them back on, the problem appears again
I recently started having issues with my new XT1575 where the audio would pop constantly in some apps and specifically when I placed the phone next to my ear during a call. Pulling it away from my face would make the gurggle disappear. After much poking and tinkering I found a way to fix it. There is a bug in the Audio Effects app that is causing the problem. Disabling the app fixed all of my popping, gurggling and crackling in audio.
To disable the app:
Go to settings -> apps -> (make sure "All apps" is selected) tap Audio Effects -> Disable
Just sharing in case this helps anyone else.

I think there is no need to disable it. Enter google play music settings-->equalizer and disable deep bass in the speakers. I think the deep bass preset by default is what causes the noises.
In my moto g 2015 i access equalizer through android settings, but in moto x I only found it via google play music.
I don't think it had anything to do with the bass levels. I only say that because proximity to my head seemed to cause the noises during phone calls. If i pulled the phone just 2 inches from my ear they stopped and voice was crystal clear again.
Hi all. Problem from this topic isn't so annoying for me. But from Marshmallow update I have an issue with audio files playing. I have my own sound for incoming calls (mp3 file) and for notifications (ogg file) and every few days my moto just stopping play any sounds. Incoming calls are quite (just vibration). When I try play any mp3 file with Play Music app it says me that there is problem with playing file. The only way to fix it for some short time is restart the phone.
I did twice wipe and after that was about 2-3 weeks OK. It's very annoying issue and I can't find any solution.
Can someone help me, please? Thank you all in advance.
Did you try different file formats?
No problems overe here.
But I only listen to 320kpbs MP3's or flac or wave.
Only good quality will come trough my speakers.
using good quality music will also help with that problem
Actually I tried different file format - mp3 and ogg files. It looks like phone has problem with playing any music files. I have all files on internal storage.
Corcerning quality I have also 320kbps mp3 files.
For me the main concern is not playing of audio files -- it's the phone audio during calls. The problem appears during calls when the backlight is off -- only if the phone is against my ear (proximity sensor turns off the backlight) or speakerphone on after backlight goes off. Pulling the phone an inch away from my ear (to turn on the backlight) fixes it, but that doesn't help because then I can't hear. Also, during speakerphone calls, turning on the backlight with the on/off switch solves the problem, but then it comes back as soon as the light goes off.
Disabling Audio Effects didn't do the trick. My phone, and my brother's identical phone, still have the annoying issue. I think I'll just return it while I am still allowed, and get something else (maybe an N6P).

320kbps...., "good sound" lolol
But seriously, it helps to avoid mega bass on the speakers, always good to turn that off
Here's a thread where seems to help to turn off the "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode". It's under "Cellular network settings". See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/help/audio-breaking-screen-goes-off-off-t3302643
Let us know if it works!
Hi,
I have a strange issue wherein the botton speaker of the phone totally stops working occasionally and all the sound comes through the top speaker. The volume for the top speaker is also very low and its badly distorted. The only fix is a restart.
This started happening a 1 month back, I've had this phone since November last year. So i don't think its a hardware issue. Does anyone have any any ideas as to what might be the issue.
Could it be that some app is causing this or some software updated messed it up ?

From my own personal experience, it seems to be due to surround sound configuration. If the app partly allows surround sound, the sound will be badly mixed between the speaker, while if you set the app to mono-speakers only it will play sound from both speakers. Try to play some music in mono or download a midi-file with mono configuration and see if it does anything different.
But this is happening with all apps when it happens. If it would have been just one app it would have been easy to pin point, but when it happens, its for all apps.

Solved
Yea so i checked it ... I killed the google play music after turning the equalizer off and started it again...the problem is solved :good:
My bottom speaker has done the same, I noticed it when I could hardly hear on load speaks. I am reading it's come with the new Android update 7. Seems about he same ti e mine stopped. I have tryed your fix. Turning of eq in Google Play. Shutting it down then restartinh. But no fix.
Use stereo test app (high volume) and this will fix your problem.
Were you able to fix this issue?
I'm having the same issue on my Mate 20 Pro
just restart your phone fckers
