Distorted chipmunk voice when calling (SOLVED) - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I have this issue that when I receive a call, all I hear from the other side is like a chirping distorted noise. This only occurs with the stock dialer app. Also, it's happened in differing custom ROMs (AICP 17.1, and now CrDroid). Apparently the only quick fix is to disable wifi calling and VOLTE, which I did and it did help. Is there a way for me to get rid of the chirping noises while keeping VOLTE and wifi calling enabled? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Edit: so what did work for me was switching the network type to LTE/WCDMA/GSM under mobile network settings. Make sure to check your device and the compatible network bands to set this accordingly. Leaving this here in case other people with other devices have such a similar issue.

vs980 peoples: What do you think about volte and video calling on Verizon?

I'm on xdabbeb's ROM so I can try it out and so far I'm pretty impressed with Verizon's volte, it sounds like a Skype call. Also half the calls I make, I hear a static in the background whenever theyres noise. Also can anyone confirm if normal calls and SMS go through LTE or it falls back to 1x for that. I cannot figure out a way to force my phone on LTE only

Cannot receive calls on T-Mobile.

I can call out but ppl can't call me. Do not disturb isn't on. Anyone had similar issue?
So, it's an LTE issue. I can get incoming call when I force 3G connection but when I am on LTE band 4, no incoming call.
I also don't have enhance LTE options under cellular network settings.
I sideloaded the band 12 enabler from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...nable-band-12-moto-pure-mm-ota-t3267057/page7
I am having the same issue.. I have to force 3G in order to receive calls! Hopefully someone can help us!

VOLTE/WiFi Calling

US regular unlocked model using Metro PCS Sim. E911 address is properly set up. I just fastbooted the stock may security update hoping it would fix the issue to no avail. Across all roms including stock I cant seem to get WIfi Calling to work or VOLTE. When making a call without WiFi on I can see the LTE drop to H, It does not stay connected to LTE. WiFi calling never shows as a wifi call in the dialer like its supposed to. Its causing me to miss calls and sometimes not be able to make outgoing calls. What in the world is the issue? Its definitely supported with both Metro PCS and the phone. I thought going back to stock properly would help but it hasn't.

not receiving incoming calls...

just got the phone yesterday and updated it to the P beta. everything works amazingly well for a beta in my opinion, BUT i cant receive calls. outgoing calls, texts, web and apps are just fine.
spent almost 2 hours at tmobile flipping all the settings around and no luck. any ideas would be appreciated.
Same issue here bro...Incoming don't ring but I get voicemail notifications.... Really annoying, even if it is a DP.
Turns out the beta doesn't play well with the essential LTE. Switch to 3g and calls will come through. Hopefully it doesn't take long to find a work around for it
I believe the people having this issue have volte enabled...try and disable volte (it's broken anyway and more than likely why calls won't ring through) and see if that works
Got same issue... My experience was that I could solve the problem with reboot.
Issue came after playing on settings for mobile network.
Is meaning, when you do this you have to reboot afterwards otherwise you can't receive calls
Try it.

Tried rebooting multiple times while changing settings around. The only way I can get the calls to come through is by going without LTE completely.

Settings/network settings/mobile network/advanced/enhanced LTE?
I had the same issue and to fix mine I just enabled Wifi Calling.
When on wifi I didn't get a call, just missed call notification. After enabling wifi calling, it comes through without issue.
I tested calling off wifi and on wifi and all calls come through good now.
This could be similar, so you guys might want to look at that also.
Good luck!
Heard from a few that this was solved by going into phone app settings -> calls -> calling accounts, then turning on "receive incoming calls". Seems it's disabled to save battery? Can't confirm as I just flashed to try it out and then went back to 8.1 because I like themes too much. Lol.
I'm on Sprint and was never able to make or receive calls regardless of Network settings in the easily accessible options menu.
The following fixed my issue. You can access this menu without downloading an app but I forget how so it's easier to just download the free app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
I had my network mode set to LTE/CDMA when first using this app, and somewhere in the middle I changed it to CDMA but I'm not sure how much that impacted the actual fix.
These were my steps. I'm not responsible for any damage this may cause to your device as I'm not sure if messing with these settings is foolproof or not.
First, opened previously linked app "Force LTE" then under "Set Preferred Network Type" I changed to CDMA only. Enabled/disabled airplane mode. This seemed to do nothing as LTE was still showing in statusbar.
I then chose CDMA auto (PRL), airplane mode on/off, didn't seem to do much either. LTE still showed in statusbar and couldn't make calls. Also "Voice Network Type" showed "Emergency Calls only" inside the app.
I then chose the 3 dot menu and chose "select radio band". I changed that to United States, without resolving problem. Then selected "Cellular 800" and this may have solved the problem, but I continued on and selected PCS, fiddled with some settings in Phones settings menu. Was finally able to receive calls and my signal indicator showed 3G. In app Voice Network Type was listed as 1xRtt. I decided to select radio band once more and chose Class 10.
Calls were still functioning fine. So I went into Main settings menu and changed mobile network from CDMA to LTE/CDMA. LTE kicked in and calls still work!
Again, these settings may only work for Sprint hence the PCS Network option, and I believe Sprint may utilize the 800mhz frequency. The app might show you different options depending on your carrier. I don't know.
Anyway, fully functioning! Woohoo!!

I don't have anything in my settings that says "enhanced LTE" .
Tried using the 4g/LTE and the LTE only options. Neither would let calls through.
I have this problem using the Essential PH-1 with Android 9 Pie in South Korea on the KT network. It should be fully compatible, according to radio specifications, however it only works when I change the following setting:
Settings | Network & Internet | Mobile network | Advanced | Preferred network type | 3G
This is not ideal, since it makes the Internet slow, but at least I can make/receive voice calls. I submitted a support ticket to Essential requesting their official help (I'm well within warranty).
I had the same issue when I use my Att prepaid plan. The problem is caused by wrong network type, you can send text and browse internet, because they use the different channel. My PH-1 wrongly recognized the sim as CDMA/LTE mode, just switch it to 4G/LTE, it will be work. Go to Settings, then search "wi-fi calling", point "advanced" then you can see an opinion "Preferred network type" if you are ATT or T-mobile user, and your preferred network type is "LTE/CDMA“ then your phone cannot make call. Switch it to "4G/LTE", you phone will be work. BTW, Verzion uses CDMA, so if you are Verzion user, CDMA/LTE will work for you phone.

G900T LTE signal problems

When my G900T has LTE enabled (with poor signal) and it has slept for a long time I cannot receive calls. Anyone else have this issue? When I turn the phone on I can receive calls again and make outbound calls.
This issue doesn't happen if I keep the radio in HSPA mode. I usually do that since HSPA is more reliable in my area anyways. I thought maybe it was just an issue downgrading LTE to HSPA for phone calls but then I saw this:
https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_device_samsung_klte/+/276811/
* There are reports that *some* G900T devices get into a state where
they report that only emergency calls are possible after the screen
turns off for some period. This does not affect all G900T devices,
but on affected ones, removing the persist.radio.add_power_save
property from build.prop seems to fix it.

I've never seen a complete lack of signal but could this issue be related? My build.prop does have that property set to 1, setting it to 0 might do something. Asking for guinea pics to try this for me before I potentially block some phone calls testing it. :fingers-crossed:
