Have you install Magisk Module like GMS Doze or enable "Suspend execution for cached apps" in the developer options ?
And like ayed78 said, in app info > Battery > select "Unrestricted"

I have standart for "Suspend execution for cached apps" and i have installed "universal GMS Doze 1.8.8" but i never had a problem while using it.
I have set whatsapp to unrestricted but that did not help.
I think "disable sleep optimization in battery setting" helped but i am not sure.
should i deactivate "Suspend execution for cached apps" ?

If i asking for doze it's because i had the same issue on Signal because or this module
Try in a first time to just pass App Battery profile on Unrestricted, if problem occur, try to disable your GMS Doze module.
And for Suspend execution cached apps it'sbetter to keep the default settings.

I want to disable/remove daydream completely, I don't need nor want to use it. It doesn't seem to have an option to turn off completely, only delay up to 1 hour max.? I use an app 24/7 on this (thinkorswim) but yeah.. daydream gets in the way every hour and have to wake. Any clue? Hoping for a possible quick command line fix. Thanks
* Yes, I have sleep mode off in the dev settings, I just want to remove/disable daydream.
Kind of hilarious nobody has a clue how to disable a screensaver... Interesting issue
Menu Button -> Manage Apps -> Swipe to "All" -> Scroll to "Basic Daydreams" -> Tap on it -> Tap on the button on the top right "Disable" near the button "Force Stop" on the left.
You can uninstall using any app in the Google Play Store with the search key: "Root Uninstaller"
Since it´s a system-App you may encounter problems with daily usage of Android if it´s missing.
So, I've just updated to the latest Pure Nexus - did a wipe and clean install - and I'm trying to get my apps set up again, but I can't grant permissions through system settings. If an app actually pops up and requests a permission, I can allow it; but for some apps, this doesn't happen. Home Remote Control, for example, won't request the storage permission it needs to access my ssh key. So I go into settings->apps, find the app, tap permissions, try to enable the storage permission, and..."screen overlay detected". Except there is no screen overlay active. I have disabled every app's "draw over other apps" permission. I even found the "show system" option in the list and disabled all system apps' ability to draw over other apps. At this point, SYSTEMUI can't draw over anything else! And I'm still getting "screen overlay detected" when I try to change permissions. Any advice? Is there another way to manage permissions in Marshmallow (like maybe an xposed module)?
EDIT: Thought I should also mention, the issue persists in Safe Mode.

Do you have twilight or lux installed?
The reason it's warning you is BECAUSE they're disabled. Enable all the toggles and the prompts will go away. You can then choose to disable one by one until you figure which app is throwing the error.

Turned out to be because GravityBox pie controls were enabled. Doesn't show up in the "draw over" list, but trips the overlay detection regardless. Disabling pie controls in the GravityBox app let me change permissions.
Hi,
Try to flash this by Custom Recovery.

Hello... You can go here:
Settings > battery > 3 dot menu: optimization > tap on "non optimized" and select "all apps"
You can scroll down, tap on Gmail and choose "don't optimize"
I don't have any problem with Gmail notification though I let doze do its job.
Have you tried wiping Gmail data and cache or wipe, uninstall and reinstall to see if it works? You could also try to just wipe the whole cache from recovery...
Good luck...

Yes sir done that 100 times but it won't detach from doze, this is a known issue in nexus series and that's why I wanted to disable it completely. I am using Greenify instead already and it's serving me well.

Hey sir!
If you wrote the step you used trying to fix the issue, I wouldn't have advised it in the first place...
Anyway... Have you tried a search on Google? I found a command that disable doze completly. At least people report notifications working after that. It seems to work on OnePlus and Huawei devices, so it must be worth to try. If you haven't already...
Open a command prompt and issue:
adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
Not sure it survives a reboot.
Good luck... :good:

Wow... Nice. No need to credit me for this. But thanks. As I said, i just found the command with this simple Google search:
"Complete disable doze Android" without quote.
Try to reboot and check if the notification work yet. Or Google the command and see people reports. Hopefully the output you got from the command prompt confirms doze is really off for good. :good:
Cheers...

Just swipe away the apps you want to close manually and leave the desired one there, close all will close all, there's no way to change that.

You can lock the apps and prevent them from closing. In the recent apps, there is a 3 dot menu in the top right corner. Tap it and you will see the option for locking apps.

Ha what do you know, didn't know it had that feature, nice one!
I have this same problem. Trying to find a way to lock my Tile App. Turned off my battery saver so system wont close open apps. Tried everything i could think of and that is suggested
on line. Nothing works. Tile cant even help.
How do I do what you suggest?
How do I access the recent apps? Is it through the 3 line button at bottom of sceen where it shows small pages of everything open or somewhere else?
When I look there....the individual pages don't show the 3 dots.
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Hi,
What you mean "tap on tile app"? I can not find "allow background activity". Phone is galaxy s8, android pie.
Few days back a call recorder apk sent me there and I realize this option is not deleted from android. It just hidden, like stop FB updates.

See the gif I attached
Ok problem resolved.
There is three options to be set:
1) "Sleeping aps" - go to Settings and type in search bar on top "Sleeping aps"
I Add all apk except: AutoBlutooth, Button mapper, Call recorder, Weather widget, Email and messaging apk
2) "Optimize battery usage" - go to Settings and type in search bar on top "Optimize battery usage" Click again on top row "Optimize battery usage", Click on "App not optimized" and change to "All", find apk that make problem by sleeping.
I Disable :AutoBlutooth, Button mapper, Call recorder, ect. I do not add here email and messaging apk, as they never have sleeping issues. Maybe because not have 3day(default sleep setting) not using them in a row.
3) "Allow background activity" - go to Settings==>>Apps==>>Select application you want not to sleep==>>Battery==>>Allow background activity
It will be set to Enable to all apk, that are not added to "Sleeping aps"
Additional step:
"Device admin apps" - If Application is already here, can give Admin status. It will prevent accidental change of "Optimize battery usage" and "Allow background activity"
p.s
This why my messaging apps have Enabled Allow background activity and Optimise battery usage.
Button mapper, Call recorder ect have Enabled Allow background activity and Disabled Optimise battery usage
I enabled the following settings I found in a post to see if I can boost my SoT:
"After installing from playstore ,Activate greenify module in xposed installer app and reboot, then follow these settings-
1 - Goto greenify> settings > Aggressive doze > activate ( Activate notifications also, if you want to know for how much time the device has gone into doze mode)
2- Enable Wake-up Tracker > enable "advanced wake-up cut-off'
3- Enable automatic hibernation and quick action notification
4- Xposed based features > enable 'doze on the go' and 'wakeup time Coalescing' ( you can also enable "don't remove notifications")
5- now add apps to greenify by tapping on '+' add all the GCM( google cloud messaging ) apps and bulky apps and games such as facebook , PUBG etc"
I am not 100% sure that this caused it but now every 5-10 minutes or so my screen wakes up for no reason continuously throughout the day. I installed a wakelock detector and it says chrome and google news are doing it but it's not always the same culprits.
Is there a workaround to this? It's very annoying and I've disabled wake up notifications obviously so it's not owed to that. Thanks in advance.
bump!
Are you shure Greenify is configured for "root mode" ?
Yes greenify is set to root mode.
