Smart band for strength training? - Other SmartWatches

Hi, I'm looking for some cheap smart band that can count manually or auto reps, sets, rest time (maybe detecting exercises) and can even store weights, like the old Google Fit (which I'm currently using on a laggy TicWatch E2). Does this currently exist? I could also use a third-party/XDA app for that purpose.
I think Amazfit may be the closest thing, but I'm open to other options. Looking for bands around $50-$80
Thanks everyone for your help.

Cell / Tower Name - can it be displayed

I like how cell phones are able to display the cell they are currently working in.
Are the XDAII's able to do this? All I have seen displayed is the carrier.
I did notice a program in the forums, but that didn't display the cell names only a code. Plus this program had a lot of features I don't need, all I want is the cell/tower name.
This information can't be coded into the phones as new towers are poping up here in oz all the time, so the towers must be sending this info out.

Many phones can display even more! Nokia NetMonitor can display TimeAdvance (it means DISTANCE) from seven closest cells (BTS). In a smart device (such as XDA) it could be used for navigation. All you need is a database of cells with they coordinates. Then, if you know your distance to at least 3 of them, you can calculate your position. It is the same principle as GPS. One could create a "GPS driver" which will provide coordinate information to standard GPS map software so you'll have GPS without the need of GPS card - but less accurate.
So the only question is: if Nokia (and other GSM phones) is able to retrieve and display the distance from 7 closest cells, is XDA able to do so?

Profile switcher

I know there are several apps available for profile switching but I'm looking for some specific functionality.
What I want is an automated profile switch when the mda is on external power.
I think I had a program for this a while ago but due to all the rom upgrades etcetera I seem to have lost it.
Does anybody know which of the known profile apps can do this?
Thanks
haven't come across one that changes the profile based on the charging status however I did have one last year that would react to the GSM cell ID that it was in e.g. if it recogonised the cell at your work it would go into vibrate mode or if it recognised the cell at your home it would switch to quiet or what ever you choose . It was quite neat but I'm damned if I can find it. i'll keep looking.
phoneAlarm will do this
Even Profilws for Windows Mobile does this........ Look at www.winmobileapps.com
Thanks guys, I'll check them out.

[Q] New (to me) T8285

I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, this one seems more appropriate.
First of all, this forum has been very helpful. I almost find that there is too much information available here, boggles the mind.
In any case I have just upgraded to a Touch HD from a Touch Cruise (the first edition). The Touch Cruise was a Great Phone, still is – I was just looking for an upgrade (upgraditis). The model I supposedly obtained (EBay Auction for $161) is the T8285, which is perfect as I am USA bound on the AT&T Network. For all intensive purposes the Phone is working as expected, looks great too!
My first question (I know asked before) is that the phone says it’s a T8282. I realize that any past ROM updates can do this – I do not have a clear history of the device. Looking at the Phone Network selections I have four choices (see below). It does show the UMTS Bands AT&T Operations on, so can I assume that this is an T8285?
• Auto
• GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(900+2100)
• GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
• UMTS(2100+800)
Next: I do not have the Data Plan, nor do I want it. It’s just too pricey and I really do not need it (I have WiFi available at home and work, which appears to be working great). A lot of Forum advice here goes into available Programs to shut off/block the Data from working. Right now I have only two options selected (Turned On) under Connections, the Phone and WiFi. There is a Tab for Data which I left OFF. This seems like a no brainer but as it hasn’t been discussed as an option to the No-Data desires, am I just simply missing something?
I know this is purely taste, but is there a “widely” preferred Screen Saver out there? I have had my Touch Cruise for three years and the Screen is Immaculate due to persistence/diligence on protecting the Screen, but I have noticed that there is differences in quality – LARGE differences! The one I liked the most was the HTC Branded Screen savers. They resisted scratches while not effecting operability. I am now using “Fellowes” Generic savers, which scratch relatively easy.
Of course I have other questions, but I will continue to work them out searching the forums for answers as needed. I know there are people who hate when questions are asked that have been answered before – I did research the above but either found not enough or too much contradicting information.
If you look under the battery, the model number should say BLAC100 or BLAC120. BLAC100=T8282, BLAC120=T8285.
Even if Data Connection is OFF in comm manager, the phone will still connect to the internet as needed. You'll need an app to prevent the data connection from starting, or put an invalid APN in connection settings.
But a large pack of the cheapest screen protectors off ebay and replace them as they get scratched?
Waaaah: It appears I have a T8282, not a T8285 as described in the Ebay Auction. It clearly has the BLAC100 identifier under the battery. However, this may be OK as I never intended to opt for the Data Plan anyway. Other than not being Data accessible for AT&T is there any other differences between the phones - even ever so slight? Like I said I am surfing the WEB via WiFi, making and recieving calls, and accessing the other programs without issue.
I am finding that obtaining a "non-Data-Plan" GPS program for these phones is difficult (obviously my only option now). I like TomTom (had Navigator 6 on my HTC Cruise) but the Nav 6 is not "fully" compatible. The Nav 7 is compatible but does not have available USA Maps. CoPilot Live V8 is out there, but Web reviews leave less-than-desireable reports for the Maps - but the program itself does gets high marks. If TomTom does not give some indication for getting the Maps I will most likely go with CoPilot.
I like the phone and plan on keeping it (I did reply to the EBay seller to see if he can do anything, but do not expect much if any). I see a french site referenced in these forums with a large list of compatible Software but can not current register to his site for the links (others are apparrently having the same issue right now).
If there is any advice/information out there I might find interesting please feel free to feed it back.
Thanks.....
There's no difference between them apart from the addition of different 3G bands, the T8282 came out first in Europe and has the European 3G bands, the T8285 is the 'rest of the world' version with more frequences available.
The T8282 will still work on GSM in the US, but you won't get any 3G, which will only be a problem for voice if you're in 3G-only area. Seems it's been flashed with a T8285 ROM which shows the US 3G frequences, but they won't work on an T8282 as the hardware isn't there to support it.
There's quite a few sat-nav programs available, off the top of my head, there's TomTom, iGo, Route 66, Destinator...
That's what I fugured. However now that you mention it - is AT&T (or will they) be going toward a 3G Only coverage phylosophy. If that is (or will be) their intention this phone will eventually be useless. I find it hard to believe that a changeover like that could take place overnight, but it does make business sense (kind-of). Why maintain multiple systems (in this case Bands) when just your top-of-the-line one will do. They also in turn force the populace to keep upgrading phones pleasing the manufacturers. Kind of a Software thing - only supporting the latest product, forcing upgrades.

Using smartwatch for medical studies and data analysis

Hello
I'm a PhD student in epidemiology in relation to air pollution and I'm specialised in data analysis.
We work with a few dozens of volunteers that will be given some portable sensors.
The sensors can measure GPS but aren't as precise as a A-GPS (with google services).
I need to be able to precisely track localisation of volunteers in order to know where they are ; street/inside/etc.
We also want a general activity indicator, and hearthbeat plus podometer could be very interesting too.
Since I'm not lucky enough to be given Apple watches, I found smartwatches on aliexpress that are bellow 100$ and that can do all of the above, that has GPS, LTE, sim, and on board sensors. In France we can provide every volunteer with a 2€/month sim card.
Three problems : It's often very hard to get the data measured by those watches by the included app.
Also, I want to be able to measure data on an occurence that fits the battery limitation.
For example I only want GPS data every minute. This consumes way less than navigating with Google Maps directly on the watch for example.
I don't have any background in software developpement, but I happen to know python, and made a few GUI for Windows.
Basically I want only a fit-tracker that will log every data every X-minute depending on the limitations.
So I have a few questions ;
Do you think that by developping on those watch I could be able to pick the data even tho it would be a chinese watch with no documentation ? Maybe android lets you have full access to the data ?
Is this feasible or does this require too much knowledge ? I guess Android watches are way less documented than smartphones.
Any recommendations?

Manually Select/Disable/Enable Bands

Hello everyone! I am trying to find out how to enable/disable certain bands. My company installs cell phone boosters for people that have poor signal, and i need to be able to select a single band at a time to do speed tests.
I know this is possible with Samsung devices, but was wondering if anyone found a way to lock to a single frequency.
This is possible with Samsung devices but unaware of any way to do this with a Oneplus 8. I think its even possible to do it on the tmobile version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I am also rooted if that helps.)
Wow. I may be onto something. Anyone want to test this out?
**Disclaimer** Do it at your own risk.
I found this. Seems to let me change to whatever band I choose. But the only way I can seem to get back to "all bands" or "automatic" is by selecting all of the ones I use.
Or by typing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting the second from bottom
Download quickshortcutmaker from play store.
Look for: com.oneplus.engmode.bandmode
It was almost all the way down at the bottom for me. (My search doesn't seem to work)
I don't think this requires root or how I found it but it's working! (But, I am rooted, Android 11, stock room)
not sure who else could use this but I hope it helps someone!
Should all be unlocked from begin with, we should have access to all the bands as we're paying to access our networks not Oneplus
You must not have read the op.... He wanted to lock onto a single band to do a speed test for signal booster purposes. Your respknce was a waste of time.
Op, nice job on the work around for yourself
Good information and screen shots! cheers
