Hello, I am somewhat a beginner to these things but know how to do most things, in short - I work in a retail store and from time to time we have these demo tablets that are no longer required from samsung and are usually just disposed of or sold to colleagues for cheap - Only very rarely.
Anyways i purchased a Retail Demo samsung tab S5E (SM-T720) and it had retail mode installed, i uninstalled with the administrator password which i found on our work forum and then installed the latest firmware downloaded via frija - whenever the device starts UP after a fresh install and after connecting to the internet it will install the retail mode again as it has Knox enrollment service which I believe this is the main cause of why I cannot root
Things i have tried - Patched the stock AP file from the firmware I downloaded with Magisk then flashed it, flashed TWRP recovery - flashed magisk zip via there (Causes a bootloop)
I am able to bypass the knox enrollment with a program i found on SamFW but after bypassing i still cannot manage to root, i can use it as a regular device which isnt too bad but would like to root it as well.
Does anyone have any idea on how I could do this and if so is there any tutorial or method around for it.
managed to fix it, it was due to the fact the device didnt have Ramdisk so i had to boot into recovery each time to activate magisk didnt realise until now. rooted successfully now

Hi I need serious help with rooting my phone.
2 weeks ago, samsung released a firmware update for the galaxy s4. The new firmware is called "KOT49H.I9505ZHUFNK2", which i believe is only available for hong kong galaxy s4 after doing a bit of research online. (My phone was bought in hong kong) I did the firmware update as I saw that it was nothing major and the phone would still be on Android 4.4.2. Little did I realize, this new update would not let me use towelroot anymore. Before the update I was able to use towelroot to root the phone. However the new firmware update made towelroot unsupport the phone. Now I cant figure out a method to root my phone
The reason why I need to root the phone is because there seems to be a problem with connecting to the playstore. Everytime I try to log in, a message that says "cannot make reliable connection with..." appears. It seems that in order to fix this problem I would have to root and fix the host file in my phone. I tried a factory reset (power +volume up method) and still does not work.
Someone help me pls?
Sorry for the long post, just trying to give as much detail of my current situation.
bump. someone help me please?

I have the same HK variant of the i9505 with the same build number. All root methods seem to fail and an incomplete superSU shows "there is no SU binary installed, and superSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" Please help..i'm just an amateur programmer and can use some guidance. The cost of this phone was 300 dollars...cost to my sanity, immeasurable and now can't gain root access for full functionality of the device...

Can you install a recovery (cwm, twrp)?

I can install twrp but it is no use flashing the SU. I tried flashing SU, SU update, Adam kernel. I am wondering is the problem because CM security detects "Broad Anywhere" and "towel root" and then these two are deleted that that's why the root is never completed? SU is installed, just no binary, updates from google play any 1mobile market do not work. BusyBox detects an error while opening the "shell". I'm trying to explore other possibilities...also updated to new firmware NL1 build released Dec 05, 2014. Will keep trying.
have you tested srsroot ?
Warning : I do not know this software but a google search "KOT49H.I9505ZHUFNK2" find it recently.
i tried srsroot, kingoroot, manually odin flash but none work.. at this point i might go to a root service provider somewhere around here (guangzhou, china) and inspect the software they use to test for any exploits before the rooting process (if they let me), or not agree to it....for $10 very well worth it..another alternative is to stick with non-root...after flashing the new firmware NL1 (December 5 2014 build) antutu x benchmark increased 4000 points to 28k and cpu identifier (bartoloni) increased 10k points to 37k....for now the device seems quite good...
Ok, so ages ago I fooled around with my GT-I9506 S4 and rooted it.
Then I 'unrooted' it or so I thought.
I went to install a tap and go bank payment app on my phone and it refused to install saying my device was rooted.
I ran Root Checker and it said my phone was not rooted.
I went in to system settings and hit update and it refused, saying 'your device has been modified'.
So I have several questions,
1. How do I well and truly unroot my phone?
I'm downloading a stock firmware from Sammobile, should I just use Odin and do a complete reinstall?
2. Or instead, I see Xposed http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer seemingly can help you defeat root detection when installing handy apps.
Thing is I've tried connecting my S4 to my Win 7 PC which has the lastest Samsung usb drivers installed but it won't detect so I can't transfer APKs.
Grrrrrr. Oh, and Kies doesn't work either. ****ing Samsung, I can't believe how badly supported their phones are.
Both options would work.
Hi, I've been reading the thread for CF auto root to give it a go. I've downloaded the drivers (I've got 1.5.51 now installed, haven't been able to find later ones), I've got the 2.74 SU version that helps to overcome a recent security policy update issue reverting root status and the CF auto root zip file (CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.zip) which has odin 3.10.6 included (not quite sure if I can use any recent odin version). I even got my stock firmware com sammobile and extract the proper boot.img from the AP* file (just in case I got something wrong at sometime). I've enabled the OEM unlock too on developer options. I understand I can give it a go without having to go with a custom recovery (still not sure and haven't got the whole picture about the dm-verity thingy and what effects has on the device but someone mentioned something like loosing the encryption or so). This is my first try on getting root on my s7 edge G935F (international version), so it shouldn't have any boot.img problem (but trying to be prepare since I can't go about without my phone being working).
So, I've got my phone into download mode, started odin, loaded on AP the tar.md5 file from the CD auto root zip file (CF-Auto-Root-hero2lte-hero2ltexx-smg935f.tar.md5), connect the device throuhg usb cable and I was expecting Odin to recognize it but nothing happens. Since in the threads I've been researching for s7 edge there is no indication on waiting to see something happening on ODIN (but in some other threads - not s7 edge related though - mention something about having to see a blue indicator on COM), I'm not quite sure if I'm expected to just hit start even if no apparent change is happening on ODIN nor there is some drivers installing/configuring when connecting the device on download mode. Since I'm quite new to this, I'm no sure if I should connect the device first with some other option enabled, like USB debugging or if I'm missing something quite obvious for someone familiar with flashing with odin?
Kind regards for any help!
PS. I did tried to find an answer through searching but foung nothing related s7 edge wise so I'm at a loss not even knowing if just hitting start without having the device recognized on ODIN will do any harm at all (that newbie I am)
Try odin 3.11
Aldo plug your phone in first and than once recognised load the autoroot to ap

Thank you skinza for your reply, I did tried what you suggested and although it wasn't enough for getting it solved it helped me to know I was on the correct path and that I could use an updated odin.. finally, the problem was on embarrassing one since I went into download mode but hadn't push the volume up to get into the actual ODIN mode (too newbie of me but I was trying to follow the instructions I'd found and none were that specific - a bit afraid of messing it up). Nonetheless, thanks again for your time! Kind regards!
Edit: Now I'm rooted (thanks CF) and it took less than expected (a couple of mins or so). I didn't go the custom recovery way, so it might have been that.

Thanks again! for now I won't be going for a custom rom but wanted to be able to install a firewall to stop some apps from draining my prepaid data (limited)..
I was planning on having xposed installed but it seems I need a custom recovery for that as well.. I used to have xprivacy on a previous nexus 4 and loved I could limit some permissions that are still missing now on marshmallow but haven't got a grip yet as per the effects due to the dm-verity thing.. would you happen to know anything about it? and I was also wondering about if I do need to have the OEM unlock still enabled now that I'm rooted? (The later because I'd been robbed of my cellphones in the past - even recently a new s7 edge that didn't last me even a month and wouldn't want to let them have an easy pie on having the device available)
Regards!
I'm facing the same issue but even after going into download mode properly after pressing vol up
odin doesn't detect my s7 edge
I've installed all the drivers also

Got the same issue. I'm new with this. My colleague wants me to learn and test and load Lineageos on some brand new S7 G930F devices he gave me which I have already switched to dev mode with OEM unlock and USB debugging on and the devices smoothly jumped into ODIN downloading.... mode
I also have the proper Samsung USB Driver installed. (did it several times after ODIN didn't recognize my device)
However, according to the manual, I should start up ODIN, then connect the device via USB cable to the workstation (as unsuccessful I already tried 3 workstations with Windows 7 and Windows 10) whilst having the phone in download mode... .BUT NOTHING APPEARS in the Log field and the ID:COM Box doesn't change colour and my manual says that it should.
My workstation however recognizes the devices with positive messages so I guess the drivers are good.
My co-worker gave me ODIN v3.10, but as this didn't work I downloaded and installed V3.12, but unfortunately also without any luck.
What am I doing wrong?
which OS?
S7 edge SM-G935F
Hey guys,
i tried rooting my s7 edge but after i got into TWRP my phone went into a bootloop. when i got back download mode, odin still found my phone, though everytime i tried to enter TWRP again, odin said there was a FAIL and my phone immediatly went back into bootloop. I tried to reinstall the samsung usb drivers but now odin cant find my phone anymore.
Before i screw up even more, can someone please help me? right now im stuck in download mode and odin 12, 11, and 10 all wont recognize my phone, also not if i use different cables. my windows laptop however still gives me the device found and device disconnected sound everytime i (dis)connect my phone.
any ideas?
thanks
EDIT: Okay i tried my USB 3.0 port and now odin found my phone. just weird... now i just need to solve the problem that I'm still stuck in the Bootloop but that probably doesnt belong in this thread
I installed TWRP bootloader onto my OEM Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360P Via Odin, and afterwords attempted to boot into Bootloader.
Upon doing so the phones screen goes black, and it acts like its turned off. My computer can't detect it with ADB, and I can't boot it back on without removing the battery and then inserting it again, after which it boots normally.
So yes my phone is working, but I need to get the bootloader working, I don't even have the normal android one right now because of this odd bug, i have rooted phones and tablets before both via Kingroot, and ADB depending on the needs of the device, and have some slight experience with it but limited technical knowledge, i have found seemingly similar problems but all said to solve via ADB, which doesnt really work as my ADB cant detect my phone when it is in this dead state it goes into instead of bootloader.
I would like a fix that will allow me to have TWRP installed, nothing that requires root as i have attempted all one-click rooters and none work for my phone, and i cannot install a custom OS as I am on textnow wireless and getting it to work with one is the biggest pain on earth (plus my calling would become sh^te without the custom textnow rom calling)
So basically i need to fix the bootloader without installing a new OS altogether, without deleting any of my inbuilt apps, and without factory resetting as I cant get to the bootloader to factory reset anyway, honestly i just need a way to get TWRP to work. If the answer involves another way of rooting my phone via Odin (yes i can still get to the odin downloader) and then running a root requiring app to fix my recovery thats fine but i dont know how to do that or what it would entail
im using: twrp-3.0.2-0-cprimeltemtr
Textnow wireless uses a custom os that is slightly modified from the default, I don't know what that entails but i know that affects what fixes may/may not work so i am mentioning it
before i get the same answers i have tried:
redownloading TWRP and flashing the new copy instead in case of corrupted image
removing the battery after flashing and then booting directly into bootloader so as to stop it restoring anything
I have tried flashing other recoverys, however upon doing so found that when i tried to boot into the bootloader it would then boot to Odin instead and give me an error saying it was unable to boot normally, so i reflashed the TWRP one and it gave me the same blackscreen once again.
Any advice would be very helpfull, im at my wits end and id like to be able to recover my phone should it have problems later, id much prefer i not get stuck

I found something that worked highly reccomend this autoinstaller for Odin
Search the forums for stock rooted deodexed sm-g360p, thats the TWRP that I use ... almost to much. The rom is also alot more susceptible to root, mods, and tweaks. The rom is sprint, boosts a sprint partner. Its helped me get the 4glte i couldnt pickup with the boost. But definitely find that post. Twrp isn't official to our variant(that i know yet) but it works the same tho a lil dated.
so I am a mom of 3 including an infant and exhausted trying to figure this out. Trying not to clog the board opening a new thread. Long story short- I want to use an app that the developer has not been able to fix the errors with it when using Nougat on an S7. They suggested I upgrade to Oreo or Pie to fix this. I have an unlocked phone purchased outright on eBay and use Total Wireless. So there will be no one to assist me in this. I'm fairly tech savvy so I looked on YouTube about rooting and upgrading with a custom ROM.
I watched these videos:
sorry new cannot post
So easily I enabled developer options and OEM unlock and USB debugging. Downloaded Odin and Magisk and no verity and Gapps and lineage 16.0 (from Ivan Meler) and twrp with the twrp-3.3.1-0-heroqltechn.img.tar file which I determined is which one I needed.
Odin will not flash TWRP (one of the first steps). Fails every time. It does start blue and I did download and install the latest Samsung drivers package just to be sure.
Then I found it was probably because I had a locked bootloader. So, I used this tut and that did successfully download to my phone via Odin. But TWRP still will not "flash" to the phone.
Now, my fingerprint sensor says "The fingerprint sensor is not responding, please try again later". and my phone has a security notice stating "unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone and undo any unauthorized changes". So I am thinking that I did successfully unlock the bootloader? But TWRP still will not flash.
I considered using oneclickroot.com but it's $40, phone only worth about $100, and my husband is convinced they're going to steal info from my computer and phone in the process (even thought they're XDA endorsed). They also told me they can only give me Oreo not Pie.
I have downloaded and used SuperBackup. Also all my photos are auto backed up to Google and my contacts and calendar are too. So I don't think it's a huge deal if I lose everything. Even if I brick it I can get another. Reinstalling and relogging into all my apps will be a pain but whatever. I have a password app that can be logged into from the web.
Also my camera has been getting buggy and not opening and having to be restarted and in general the phone is just getting glitchy, so I was hoping an upgrade might help.
All the info I have:
Model G930V Ver 7.0
Baseband G930VVRS4BQC9
Build NRD0M.G930VVRS4BQC9
Knox 2.7.1
When I enter developer mode:
Odin Mode (High Speed)
Product name: SM-G930V
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
FAP lock: Off
Qualcomm secureboot: enable
AP SWREV B4(2, 1, 1, 1, 1) K1 S3
Secure Download: enable
My startup screen where it says Galaxy S7 powered by Android also now has an unlocked lock icon and says "custom" underneath.
Should I just figure out how to "undo" what I did and leave it alone? I'd really like to use the eMeals app and I'd really like to not buy a new phone.
You can't flash twrp on a US branded snapdragon s7... only on exynos versions of the phones...however...there are ways to obtain root and there are ways of using twrp temporarily while running programs on your computer...it is very perplexed and I can't easily explain it but just read through the threads and google root and twrp xda snapdragon s7 and read up on it...or better yet look into the roms thread...jrkruse has some roms with temporary twrp and easy root...u will never have true custom roms or magisk on that phone but has got some awesome stock base roms and ways of doing things where you wont really miss custom roms

To get back to normal use Odin and flash the ap, bl, cp, and Csc files via the instructions...u have to read up on it...google Odin s7 back to stock
