Hello,
I have an old Samsung S10+ which I havent used for years. Recently I found it and wanted to play with my GearVR. unfortunatelly I upgraded stock firmware to newest stock version not awared that android 12 stopped supporting GearVR. My bootloader is version 16 and newest version of android 11 has version 14. So i found out i cannot downgrade to version that can run GearVR.
Now as I understand have no other option than use some custom ROM. Could you recommend me one that does support GearVR? I do not care about carier/SIM (I wont be using it as phone) I do not care about anything else. All I need is system that supports Oculus and working WiFi.
Thank you
PS. Simple instructions of how to install custom rom are very welcome. I havent play with roms for 10+ years. Since then everything changed and I need to learn everything from scratch, all posts I find are 2 years old, are those methods still working?

Hey all,
I'm trying to decide whether to jump into unlocking and rooting my N1 for a custom rom (now that Cyanogen's released his first beta).
I've not done this before on an Android phone--quick question:
Can you still use the Android marketplace to get apps after you've loaded a custom rom and loaded the Google apps pack? What about your already purchased apps, are they still available for you to download?
Thanks!

I have not purchased any apps, but I have had no issues with the marketplace and I have rooted and installed custom packs.
I've purchased quite a few apps and haven't had any problems with the roms that are our currently. I'm running CM 5.0 b2 at the moment. I know what you're saying though. With the G1/MyTouch, I'd occasionally come across a ROM where I'd have to chmod or use the market enabler.
I am having issues with installing custom roms on my phone.. Which roms are you Canadians able to install without much issue ? Thanks
So I was able to install GF version 8 and but then I wasn't able to use WIfi.. I went back to reinstall and during the setup and selected the canadian version but this lead to the phone not booting up after installation.. This phone is the most problematic to use so far in my experience with custom roms.
Gold finger works and I find it awesome and fast
Goldeneye works very well latest version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313469
Hey guys
I decided to by the p10+ via amazon so i ended up with the VKY-AL00 version. I see that most of the guides here refer to the VKY-L29 variant of phones. Will trying them out brick my device?
Is there a way to make myself a stock version of (bare with me, the last phone i successfully rooted/flashed was my Galaxy S3 with cyanogen mod. and this was like 1 year ago, im super rusty with terms) the kernel, bootloader, recovery and ROM?
EMUI is attrocious to me, I would liked to install cyanogenmod (or LineageOS now?) but i doubt they have it up yet. Regardless, i would like to keep the camera software that comes with the p10+ since it has a crap ton of options for the camera. Is there a way to keep this app If i flash a new ROM to the device? If not, is there an app out there that can do what this one does? (maybe even better?)
Thanks!
I turned on my Note 2014 10.1 today for the first time in, apparently, over a year. And it still had over 90% battery charge on it after all that time. Impressive. It has root access and I'm running version 5.1.1 of Android on it. But I figure there's a newer stable version out by now that I could update the device to. But which one is the most stable, good on battery usage and performance, and with the best features?
Also, I've never used a custom modded ROM before, and I don't have any particular interest in doing abnormal things. So, unless they would offer some performance / power / security / feature or usability advantage, I probably don't need one.
Which ROM would you install to a Note 2014 P605 today?
One ROM I've looked at is this port of Android 6.0.1 - reported to be stable and good for daily use:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/development/rom-android-6-marshmallow-t3254901
I notice there are ROMs of Android 7 and 8, but I don't know if any of them very stable, with good performance, issue-free.
I'd love to know too.. Also is there a ROM that enables smooth playback of h265 videos?
Thanks
Nothing is as stable as a stock rom. And instead of the basic AOSP 6 you can as well stay with Touchwiz 5.0.
Or install LOS14/16/17, all several generations ahead.
My P605 is running rock solid with LOS 14.1 Nougat by @davidmueller13.
Unless you definitely need the s-pen functions (which can be bought as an app afaik) I recommend switching to a new ROM to get newer safety patch levels.
And David's best supported rom is the old Los 14.1.
I'm torn in between going back from Los16 and waiting for an update to the Los17(alpha) from early this year.
S-Pen works in third-party and Samsung apps available in Playstore and you can use it system- wide instead of your finger. Not more.
i need help i can't find the OEM option in the developer mode in my samsung 10.1 2014 i tried fastboot method and i was stuck on waiting for any device i need to be able to install twrp i have tried odin with no success . any suggestion pls
You can't unlock the bootloader?
That's not possible with some P605s with provider branding.
One major hurdle when attaching the device to a pc can be overcome by invoking Fastboot at power - on and then attaching the phone, instead of establishing an ADB connection which will require a reboot into Fastboot mode later on.
Good evening. I am completely new to modded rom installations. Is there perhaps a step by step guide on hoe to install the LOS Roms to my device?
Thanks
Hello people of the internet, I'm currently using a ROM installed by a shop 4 years ago, Android 6.0.1. And right now I'm looking to install a newer ROm on my phone but most of the ROMs I've found didn't have valid download links. I was wondering if anyone got any idea about the current available ROMs for the A910F and what the most stable ROM currently is.
The main reason which is making me change the ROM is the GPS, the GPS on my phone is working at all and sometimes it works in Google Maps but very very rarely.
