Hey guys
I decided to by the p10+ via amazon so i ended up with the VKY-AL00 version. I see that most of the guides here refer to the VKY-L29 variant of phones. Will trying them out brick my device?
Is there a way to make myself a stock version of (bare with me, the last phone i successfully rooted/flashed was my Galaxy S3 with cyanogen mod. and this was like 1 year ago, im super rusty with terms) the kernel, bootloader, recovery and ROM?
EMUI is attrocious to me, I would liked to install cyanogenmod (or LineageOS now?) but i doubt they have it up yet. Regardless, i would like to keep the camera software that comes with the p10+ since it has a crap ton of options for the camera. Is there a way to keep this app If i flash a new ROM to the device? If not, is there an app out there that can do what this one does? (maybe even better?)
Thanks!

Hello.
After being 2 years with a Galaxy Nexus, I have bought a LG G2 D802 32GB.
Well, I've managed to hard brick the device with only 2 days of use but got it back through warranty. But ever since I've been somewhat scared and doubtful of what I can and cannot do with this device.
I installed stock Lollipop via LG PC Suite (5.0.2 v30b), got it rooted and then installed TWRP via autorec. But I want to be able to flash rom and kernel among other things like I did with my good old Nexus and never got any major problem.
As of now, the performance on stock LG Lollipop is good, but everything is so bloated and I can't live with only 24 GB of storage. I also heard that there is a camera mod that allows the G2 to take slow-motion video and 4K photos so I would like to try that out.
Well, I've been searching here but everything is so confusing that I decided to only step into things when I understand everything about them and there's no risk of bricking the phone again. The Galaxy Nexus subforum is easier to get the hang of because there is only 3 versions of the phone (GSM and CDMA sprint and verizon). This one has like 7 and I kinda lose sight of what I need to check on.
TL,DR: Please check my questions below. (I put the important text bold)
http://prntscr.com/73hrp9 --> Those 3 sections... what's the main difference between them? Where should I look for roms for my device? What happens to the phone if I accidentally flash v30a stock or some custom rom for another version of the phone? Will it brick or bootloop or just some things such as network connection won't work?
I have a spigen slim armor case but the aluminium back is pretty damaged. Does anyone know if they still support the G2 in terms of acessories? I would want to replace the aluminium part of the case and maybe buy some screen protection. I know I can ask this and look for this in the acessories part but I found many topics with too much spreaded info and nothing convincing enough. What do you recommend for screen protection? iloome doesn't support the G2, I've seen the Glass-M and Ultimate Shield... Is there more options?
What can led to a brick in my device? How can I avoid it? Please don't tell me to not flash any custom rom and just stick with the stock. I want to try out new things, I just need to know where and what should I look.
I don't get the recoveries here! I have TWRP installed, but for what I've read there are more than 1 version of TWRP. They vary from the way I install it and they can be lost if I flash some kinds of roms. This doesn't happen with the Galaxy Nexus, TWRP is TWRP and CWM is CWM and stock recovery is stock recovery. What really happens in the G2 and what kind of recovery should I have to always have a anti brick backup plan?
What about the camera mod? Can I use it with stock lollipop? Can I use it with another custom roms? Do camera quality decrease with custom roms as they don't have lg software to process the images?
Well, I know the policy here at XDA is for searching and doing things ourselves as this is a developer forum and not a support forum. But as I learned what I should and should not do with my previous phone, I'm hoping to have a similar experience with this one without having to experience any more bricks and problems. That's why I'm asking before I do crap just because I didn't notice the small letters at the end of the post, or the comment #252652 of the thread of a user warning that the thing I'm doing will result in a bad experience. I'm just having some precautions and asking things directed to more experienced users who have the phone longer than me and can answer easily.
My girlfriend has been begging me to update her Verizon S5 for months, so I've finally started reading my options, and I'm lost. Right now her S5 is just stock rooted, still running 4.4.4. I was going to install Resurrection Remix N KLTE but I just realized it requires an unlocked bootloader, which I've determined isn't possible on her phone. I was hoping to find a ROM based on Nougat that she would like but besides Resurrection Remix I didn't notice one. Really all she cares about is being able to theme her phone like she has now using the Wanam module for Xposed. I'm thinking of just getting her to stock MM and installing Xposed but the post I read mentioned boot loops on Samsung devices, and that there were unofficial builds that fix that, but didn't link to any. I'm also not sure how to either keep root or to reroot once on MM. It's been over two years since I rooted her phone, and I recall having issues. Anyone have any advice? Links? a spare S5 with an unlocked bootloader? Ok the last one isn't necessary but the first two would be appreciated.
the only thing that i'm really surprised that your girlfriend
i mean you cant find a girl who knows in android very much everyday XDDD
anyway sammobile is the first place
Hello everyone!
I just switched to an Axon 7 after previously using a HTC One M9. I have a few questions to people here that have more experience with this phone model.
- How is sound quality in LOS/CM based ROMs? Is the dolby DAC being used properly in custom ROMs ?
The reason I bought this phone is the headset sound quality, so far I am not dissapointed at all with the stock ROM quality
-Is there a maintained stock ROM?
I am interested in a clean stock ROM that's maybe debloated and tweaked.
-What about root and android O
I noticed the toolkit has an option to "revert to stock". I want to know what are the correct steps to take when the official MiFlavor android O update is live.
I assume I should revert to stock recovery and boot partition (since now my boot is r/w from rooting). is there anything else I should know ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your time reading this !

HI, good to know you unlocked and rooted your phone quickly.
The reason i did not take the LOS boat was because of the sound issues. In short : never left stock rom because of Dolby.
For some debloated stock ROMS i can mentioned kenet's ( MiFavor 5 though ) and mine (SLIM version) based on latest B06-stockrom (MiFavor 4, debloated, SuperSu...) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slim-version-t3669355
:good:In a couple if days i'm planning to upload my latest AROMA Rom based om B06-SLIMĀ² which can be debloated to zero, and a bunch of stuff you can choose from, but all based on STOCK. So feel free to look into it :cyclops:
Also take a look in Download Center. All the stock roms (for rooted users) are there under Bootstack+Stocksystem. Latest is the B06 version.
I'm trying to maintain all that stuf so all can choose from it
Good Luck !
Thanks so much for your answer!
I assumed the sound quality would be worse on LOS, it was the same situation with HTC and Sense ROMs, you were stuck with Sense if you wanted decent sound quality.
I am very interested in the Aroma ROM, I'll keep an eye out of that, thanks a lot for creating it.
At the moment I am a bit shy to start flashing just 3 days after getting the phone; however I think an Aroma installed ROM is a solid start
Cheers!
I want to be able to take an OTA or SD update if we get official Oreo so stayed stock but the temptation to root and debloat then unroot again is always there.

I read an article saying Oreo will come officially in Q1 2018. That could very well be April 2018; that's why I gave in to rooting.

Maybe.
It gives me a lot of time to work out whether I can go long term on stock ROM.
I don't want hassles with security compatability to use Google Pay and a couple of other apps that check for root.
One reason I won't install ViPER4Android on this phone. As is, it's stock and encrypted. Just as well it has 4Gb RAM because I think it really needs it.
I just went from latest Stock to LOS and honestly I don't hear much difference between them in my music I would say its at least 90% of the quality.
There is a slight distortion on max volume from the speakers. I will see how I like it maybe go back to stock I also bought this phone after an HTC tho mine was the M8 I don't think I will get a non stereo phone again lol.
The front firing speakers are the thing. I have an Oppo Find 7 at home, it has stereo rear speakers in portrait orientation. Good for music but who uses it for that on internal speakers?
The front landscape speakers are perfect for video and handy for VR too. So much more sensible. The Axon 7 is so affordable for so much function now. Quite the bargain!
I have also recently gotten this phone and I love it, compared to my previous phone. Xperia M4 Aqua.
I have tried a lot of custom roms and I found Dark Rom to be the best one overall, great stability, battery life(5-6h SOT compared to 3-5h in stock). However I couldn't keep using the custom rom(s) since a lot of apps and games that I want to run. Do not work under Xposed or Magisk Hide, even if I don't use them. They detect it's Android N and that breaks most of it. So I am using stock rom, there is no problem and I am okay with that until later.
The biggest downside with the stock rom is that the power saving feature is very clunky. It's not optimized for light gaming, it sets the phone on max and drains it very quickly.
I'm pretty new to Android. Just bought a seller refurbished Xiaomi Redmi 2 (HM 2LTE-CMCC) 2GB 16GB 2014CP6123 from ebay. Has MUI 7.0 4.4.4 ktu84p. Should I factory reset (to get rid of any Chinese viruses/spyware etc.) and then flash EU Rom or global? I don't want to root it as I want to use banking apps etc. but would like the latest possible Android version which I read is nougat, is installing a custom Rom different to EU/Global Rom? Would a custom Rom affect the apps available on the play store? (I rooted an android tablet and couldn't use banking apps etc.)
Hoping someone could give me step-by-step general advice and best Roms etc/tutorials links? Also the video recording stated it would be 1080p but is a little fuzzy, it's turned itself off once or twice from sleep mode despite being almost fully charged and the battery seems to quite quickly. Do I need to buy a new battery?
Seems your phone is Redmi 2 Enhanced (HM2014813) which is China only version. i'm sorry to tell you that this version has no official global rom (China rom only available), no custom rom, and mostly no much help about this device. I think the used Leadcore CPU is the main problem.
Flashing miui rom using fastboot method is recommended to get rid of some bloatware. Please note you will still get some xiaomi chinese apps after flashing due to your phone variant.

That's a shame! To be honest it seems to be faulty anyhow so will try to return, if I'm stuck with it I'll follow the guide linkd, thank you for replying :good:
I am from China so I can help lol
Hey guys,
Anyone have any info when either unofficial or official twrp is coming for Android 11? I made the mistake of upgrading to 11 from 10 then tried flashing twrp which bricked my phone ( I fixed it, no biggie ). I just really want to flash a custom ROM and I can't find any other custom recovery that will do that and side loading twrp also gives a crashdump error. Unless anyone knows how to downgrade to 10, the the furthest downgrade I've achieved is 11.0.0, once I hit 10.x.x I get either a black screen or crash dump.
It's a lot there, I know. Much appreciated everyone.
Edit: reading more on this forum, I think I found a way to flash a custom ROM on Android 11.. I guess you can side load roms? So I guess I'm going to give that a try. I'm so old school, like back in 2011.
I had the same problem. Im using the Lineage recovery atm an idk why tbh. I think i used it for rooting and for now im only using magisk modules to obtain some featurers.
Sideloading roms is a thing but man i miss those old HTC Hero., HTC Desire times. Last years i was using a P30 pro without root and im so happy to have root again.
Anyway read carefully and have fun. I would love some answers from your experience here.

Most custom roms include all the files needed to flash the entire rom from a batch file. CrDroid for sure, but also Lineage. I'm sure there are more. My issue is not flashing, it's that all important nand backup from TWRP I miss the most. Switching roms is a lot more tedious when you have to re-install everything to revert back to your old setup.
Twrp for 8 and 8 pro may not happen ever, encryption is the problem
TWRP doesn't look promising considering the time that has passed since 8 launch...
