so I have been wondering if there is a workaround to get through bootloader locks to go back to Android 8.1 on the 2017 J5
I have heard that it's possible to do so but I believe it is impossible to do so.
Are there still downloads for the stock android 8 ROM for this phone that can be flashed via TWRP? since that bypasses the bootloader locks I think and the only option I found had all broken download links so that was not an option. I do not want any ports since I have an S9 port of android 8 for this J5 series but its absolute garbage with audio issues and random lockups
Thanks in advance!
Have a great day

Hey,
Can anybody tell me if it's possible to root Mate 7, run clean Android 5.0 but somehow keep / install software to automatically unlock Mate 7 by touching fingerprint scanner? (This option is simply great).
No, not at the moment.
I'm looking for the same thing at the moment but it just isn't available. There are a few new ROM's based on Android 4.4.4 if you head over to the Original Android Development section of the AM7, you'll them, but none have working fingerprint scanners. My guess is we won't have anything stock Android 5.0 based with a working fingerprint scanner for a while, if ever. By the time we do, there will probably be a newer and better phone available, as there always is.
I've got an opportunity to get a new t380 for free. Can anyone tell me if the OS can still be updated from nougat to pie? Also, considering this is a 2017 build, is it even worth the effort?
Thanks for your thoughts,
dow
Hello, Yes, the device has Android Pie One UI, it is also possable to get twrp and get masigk running, though you will most likey want to stick to Android Nougat beacuse in Android Pie, Masigk is not installing. But this can change. Also there is no custom roms for the 2017 Tab A, but this can change. The tablet will most likey not get android 10, but aleast you will get longer support on Android Pie than on Android Nougat.
I've successfully done the upgrade from v7 to 8.0 on the 910 phone using online guides (mk2000, twrp etc).
I'm wondering if i should try for 8.1 at this point. I've read there are limitations on 8.1, such as second screen (or maybe limited second screen), possible lte issues, 60 fps and 4k recording of video and other things not working? Or do these limitations depend on which method is used? Is there an 8.1 method that has very little issues? Any reason to go for 8.1? (I read about screen burn issues or maybe that was in the past before the 8.0 custom firmware?)
Perhaps its just best to stay at 8.0 (or have some of the newer 9.0 mods fixed things or created more issues)?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
For a while I have been looking for any working custom ROM for the Samsung Tab A 8 (2019) SM-T290
Are there any yet? I've checked every few months since i've got it, and so far nothing. It's such a slow tablet, which is made worse by being bogged down by awful bloatware like google and samsung apps that can't be removed. I'd like to remove them and increase the privacy of the device.
I believe, that it is unfortunately running android 12, since even though I had automatic updates disabled it updated anyways, true to the spirit of scamsung products.
In the case that there are still no supported versions of lineage or aosop.. is it possible to simply remove the bloatware or just obtain root on the device?
If I just remove all the "essential" google nonsense and samsung bloat, it just boot loops. Plus, even if I replace the launcher, it will keep running no matter what. Taking up the already limited 2gb of ram
Hey brap, so i dont have the link to it off hand as im at work but andy yans linage os builds will work on the sm-t290. The one with out gapps is pretty peppy version 19.1) but the image with gapps isnt nessicarly any better then stock but i havnt really used it for anything except termux and baulders gate.
Also there is a nexus rom out that doesnt seem to work too great. It crashed alot on mine.
Both of these should be easly findable through the search. Im still new but if you need some help, let me know and ill see what i can do.
Edit: forgot to mention that both of these have root. With andy's you have to install the app for it to work.

Location of Android 9 images for Lenovo M10 x606F?
@kugiigi Thats a shame - wish this device would get official support. From going through couple different cellphone models, and now couple tablets, the x606F has been the smoothest, best performance of UT that i have experienced. Not sure where to put thi...
