t380 questions - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

I've got an opportunity to get a new t380 for free. Can anyone tell me if the OS can still be updated from nougat to pie? Also, considering this is a 2017 build, is it even worth the effort?
Thanks for your thoughts,
dow

Hello, Yes, the device has Android Pie One UI, it is also possable to get twrp and get masigk running, though you will most likey want to stick to Android Nougat beacuse in Android Pie, Masigk is not installing. But this can change. Also there is no custom roms for the 2017 Tab A, but this can change. The tablet will most likey not get android 10, but aleast you will get longer support on Android Pie than on Android Nougat.

Oreo Update: Is there a way we can flash our Essential Phone to get 8.0?

HI,
I haven't been on here for years. Anyway, is there a way we can flash our phones to the most recent OS?
I've tried researching on here but didn't find anything. Thanks in advance.
The simple answer is no. Even though Android Oreo (8.0) has been officially released by Google it was only for the Pixel and Nexus Phones. Phone like the Essential made by other OEMs won't get the update until that manufacturer makes a officially ROM for their phone using the Android O code from Google. Hopefully since Essential uses the barbones stock Android ROM it won't take long for them to push out an 8.0 update. Another way to get 8.0 early would be to install a custom ROM built from O open source code from Google. And since we don't don't have kernel /source code from Essential yet and for that matter even TWRP custom recovery, it will be a little bit until we see custom Roms. Hopefully though Essential will either push out an update soon or release source code for the stock rom. Until that happens there will be no Android O. Sounds like we'll all just be patiently waiting to find out what happens in time.

Best Custom Rom for 2020.

There was currently the final update of the Rom Stock Android 10, security patch level as of October 6, 2019.
For a while now I feel that the phone drains the battery too much at times.
I was looking at Lineage OS v.16 as a viable option for my Google Pixel (Sailfish).
You who think of Lineage OS v.16 in this terminal, or if you know a better custom rom ... tell me your experiences.
I'll probably swtich off stock to Lineage OS 16 in 2020

Pixel Dust X (only on sourceforge, no xda post yet)
The most stabble 10 rom with a lot of features (more than evolutionx)
Upgrade to atleast Pixel 2. The pixel 1 chip is just downright horrible as daily phone especially those with daily usage of internet media consumption. It will stutter even scrolling or on the start page of a game like Mobile Legend. Even a snapdragon 625 is better

Afer the release of EvolutionX 3.5, man this rom is good, no bugs on sailfish and i think theres more features than pixel dust, it has a telegram group so unlike pixel dust you dont have to figure it out by yourself but you can ask other people
Same problem here, I tried everything to save battery but nothing helped, so I just downgraded to latest Android 9 stock(clean install)

Anything different after going to Android 9?
Battery improved?
Im thinking to just replace the battery.
It dit not work to downgrade to Android 9. I didn't get Magisk to run. But LineageOS worked and that is Android 9. everything is working fine so far, need some time to check the battery but I know that Android 9 was much better for my battery before I upgraded to Android 10. And I think there are no features which are missing now. New is not always better.
If you want to use Lineage, OpenGapps did not work because of the system partition size, I had to use MindTheGapps. Flashing Magisk was no problem but I don't like the Recovery from Lineage, so I flashed twrp after install.
this one is good too.

I just want to point out that the Pixel I got (new) would NOT stop freezing and stuttering no matter what stock/ custom rom I flashed, and the only sure-fire thing that fixed it was ROOTING and setting the GPU-Min-Frequency -on boot- to ONE step higher than standard [ 214Mhz instead of 133Mhz].
Hope that helps somebody.
I ended up with EX Kernel manager app that fixes my phone 5 seconds after reboot.

Same here, looking for the ROM that is suitable of the obsolete hardware.
Tried Evolution and Dust ROM, I like dust ROM more. However, since none of the custom ROM can be used with bank and payment apps, I switched back to the official ROM.
Android 9.0 update February 2019 seems to be the snappiest firmware I've used. After the update, I switched auto update off in the developer option (need to unlocked/relocked bootloader to downgrade).
Cheers.

Banking apps and GPay definitely work with custom ROMs as long as you're running a custom kernel.

Blissrom maybe?
Hey everybody,
I'm finally thinking of switching off the stock ROM
Since it's been ages since we've had Google support
But what I want in a ROM are the following:
1 Stable battery life
2 Good interface
3 still being updated
4 auto updates
5 fairly customizable

LG G6 (H870 - Europe) : how to block PIE updates and still update security issues ?

LG G6 is a great smartphone for taking pictures ... and a few other things like using it as a standard phone.
Mine is working fine on android 8.0 (Oreo) EU stock, with bootloader legally unlocked and the infamous lock screen.
From what I read here and there, it is nonsense to update it to Android Pie (9.0). No gain and many pains !
In other words, I intend to keep it under Oreo 8 and try to update it for security patches !
a) how to lock updates to Android PIE ?
b) how to keep updating security patches ?
Is this Mission "impossible" ?
For your info, I know there are alternative ROMS, but from what I read, none works as well as a STOCK ROM ...
I think Pie is no longer supported at all and there weren't too many security patches for Oreo so far.
So after 36 months everything stops ?
No solution ?
So Google and Brands invented the OS that really sets the game ? 2 years and bye bye ?
I'm not a Go-Go Buyer !
It would be fine with me if i'm wrong. And there would be a third big update in the form of Android 10 and if they still release security patches for 9.
Mine is from May, Android 9 of course,so there still is some support.
(and i mistook Oreo and Pie in my post from May, nothing beats plain numbers...)

Thanks "leCorbusier" for your optimistic message.
Android 10 LG STOCK for LG G6 ? You must be dreaming !
Besides this, just remember that I want to block Pie update (check OP) and still get security updates, but for Oreo !!!

G6 received PIE update after 1 year, when PIE was released. Pie update for G6 and May security pacth was last update. LG has bad software support. Forget about Android 10 for G6 from LG. Only way to get Android 10 is custom ROMs

I understand your concern, security updates are more important to me. This is why I use custom roms. But it's also my experience that there are definitely custom roms running android 10 that are way better than LG's stock roms, especially Oreo. I don't know where you read the contrary, unless you have a model that isn't well supported.
Honestly, though, the bonus features are just a bonus to me. Having up-to-date security updates are the most important to me. I buy LG phones after they are discounted, and also only after I see the community begin to support specific models, since I know LG is awful about support.

Can someone please tell me which is the fastest rom for i9300 ?

I don't care much if it's android 9 or android 5. I just want the maps to work and perform basic functions, calls, gmail, youtube, music. No gaming
I have come across the 'LiquidSmooth' Rom on youtube which runs andoird 4.4.4. I am wondering if there is any newer android version that is also fast and doesn't drain the battery.
Thanks
You can try this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-lineageos-16-0-t3875899
uses android pie. it's the most stable for pie. there are also some efforts for android 10, but the stability for that is more of an alpha.
use twrp 3.2.3 to flash.
If you don't care for pie, you can use ressurection remix Nougat?
I don't think RR supports oreo
https://www.getdroidtips.com/resurrection-remix-oreo-list-supported-device/
here is a brief guide
https://www.getdroidtips.com/resurrection-remix-redmi-note-3-nougat-2/
generally speaking, you want to use as latest android as possible but is stable for your device
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history
Reason being, you need the security patches, if you want as secure as possible an android device, so it doesn't get hacked, or get malware due to vulnerabilities existing on an older android

I'm testing several ... lineage OS 14.1 on antutu gets 39,585 Resurrection Rmx gets 40,696 I have downloaded RR here, in XDA, I quite like it, I have only tried those two. Also the interface in RR seems to me more attractive along with the pixel launch.
