Hi,
I’m a complete ROM noob. I’ve had a S10+ (Exynos I believe) for quite a while that I’ve stopped using as I changed phone. I’m considering giving it a second life by giving it a ROM as close to Stock Android as possible (or anything else that could be fun, why not).
I have a good background in IT/Programming etc so I won’t struggle too much once I know what to do and what to look for. But would anyone be able to explain to me which are the main ROMs for S10+, eventually their main differences ?
That would be greatly helpful and would make my learning a lot faster.
Thanks

Hi,
I have had PDAs for over 10 years, all of which have untill recently been Palms. 2 months ago I bought a X01HT and since then it has taken over my life, I am spending way too much time reading forums and upgrading, probably on average over 3 hours a day. I can not get any work done. maybe I'm stupid, I don't know, all I want is a working device and my device after many upgrades and roms is not reliable, it crashes 5 times a day, I've missed important calls and MMSs and lost important files. What should I do? am I missing somethin
Any hints would be greatly appreciated, I just don't know where to start
Currently using LVSW not the latest but about a week old, with the Japanese addons suggested on the forums, and a basic selection of software that all have been noted as being used by someone else without problems (nothing strange) have also tried black 2 and 3 with the same amount of phone throwing success ( I haven't thrown it, or misstreated it in any way, although I have wanted to)
I don't want to miss out on the endless possibilities that PPC has over the Palm but I may just have to go back to Palm so I can get my life back
Did you try these suggestions:

Mike
thanks for the link I did the things you suggested and reformated my SD card and uninstalled Spb pocket plus and things seem much better, It has only been a day but not crashes so far, thankyou.
I am willing to help build a wiki and I know its going to be hard but is it possible to start a troubleshooting wiki? maybe with software issues with various ROMs, wireless issues etc? I realize it's going to be big and take some time but a general WM6 troubleshooting guide I think would possibly be more advantagous than searching through 100s of pages of the forum with little success
Thanks all for making this place what it is, the difinative source for making our PDAs more helpfull to our lives

Everyone needs a hobby.
I'm using the latest Black ROM, and had no problems so far. It is quite likely to be the add-ons and programs you have installed. Have you tried using clean ROMs or alternative programs?
No love for the Saga??
I love it... and check for news about once every two weeks. Haven't heard anything.
hello fellow IL person... im hoping for a 6.5 cooked rom
note... I posted a message over on PDAPhoneHome.com and everythingwm.com and then found this thread... since it is similar in nature to my questions, I thought I would reply to this one instead of starting a new thread.
Greetings fellow frustrated Saga owners!
Wish I hadn't updated…
I, like many of you, now wish that I had not installed the update on my Saga.
It worked great before!... But now I am experiencing many of the same bugs that have already been mentioned on this forum.
I am pretty tolerant of bugs in general and I don't mind trying to find workarounds for them. Often, the workarounds add more functionality then would normally be there anyway… Plus I enjoy learning how things work.
Biggest problem…
The one thing that I can't stand is the loss of signal strength I have seen since updating! My data connection dies several times per day and I have to soft reset to get it back. Sometimes it is hours before I realize this has happened so I am not always getting my email right away. (Who has time to check their phone every few minutes to see if it has stopped synching or not?)
Other times it seems like it just stops synching for no reason. I use both an exchange server (MailStreet) and Windows Live and they both have this problem. Sometimes I check my phone when I go on break at Noon and I will notice that it hasn't synched since 9:30 AM or sometimes longer than that, yet there is no error message (like it tried to synch and couldn't) and I open the browser and can get on the internet. It is like it doesn't even try to synch. I have both of them set to synch every 15 minutes (greatly increases battery life btw) 24 hours a day. Then there are other times, it synchs more often than every 15 minutes… so I don't know what is going on!
Getting worse?…
Is it just me or do the signal issues seem to be getting worse? Or maybe it is just in my area? This past week I have actually started getting errors saying that it couldn't connect (whereas before, it just wouldn't connect... no errors)... and it seems to be happening more frequently.
Finally… my question…
What I would like to know is if anyone is working on a "cooked" ROM for the Saga. Either 6.1 or 6.5 would work for me. I have heard some good things about 6.5 (like dramatically increased performance), but I haven't heard about anyone working on this for the Saga. Waiting for Verizon to come out with another update is just a lesson in frustration and honestly I am not sure I would trust it if they did release one.
I consider myself to be a pretty tech savvy person and even enjoy some light programming on occasion (the .net framework is awesome… Something Microsoft got right!!), yet I am reasonably certain that cooking up my own ROM is beyond my skills (though I am willing to give it a shot if someone can point me to a clear guide)
Follow-up question…
If no one is working on this and no helpful guide is available, then I am wondering if a ROM from a similar phone can be used (maybe with a few modifications required?). For instance, is the Epix similar enough that we could use a ROM designed for it on the Saga? (There is a 6.5 ROM for the Epix that can be found here) Or does the fact that its hardware is GSM only make it out of the question?
More questions…
If using a ROM from a similar phone is possible is there a way to backup the current ROM so that it could be restored if the other ROM doesn't work? If so then I would probably be willing to use my phone as a guinea pig. Yes, I understand that there is a possibility that it could brick my phone and I am willing to accept the risk if there is a good chance that it will work. I have an old blackberry that I can use if something goes really wrong.
So I guess the real question is… How similar do the phones have to be? Or does it have to be identical hardware?
Any insight would be appreciated...
Steven
Id like to know the same answers! The Omnia, which came out at the same time will be upgradable to 6.5, so why did samsung release a phone that wont be at the same time as one that could?
i wonder if an omnia rom could be altered for the samsung?
Lets see some love for the Saga with 6.5, also any news on the Sags 2?
Revisiting old thread
I've still got a brand new Saga that I'd love to use if I could get a stable build of 6.1 or 6.5. The "update" from Verizon made the Saga useless with its instability and constant lock-ups.
I would really appreciate some of the experts here building a clean ROM for the Saga.
Thanks.
Ok, first off I would like to say I am new here and do enjoy what I've seen around here. It is all very nice and I very appreciate the work that has gone into this phone and such.
Ok, my issue, or issues, is this. I recently just flashed the Energy.Leo.21991.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.24 (I believe, I'm not sure if the date is correct but that's the date it says under "ROM date"). I've really enjoyed the ROM except I have been having a few issues with SMS. Like sometimes when it says I'm typing with T9 it will act like it is just doing ABC mode. Sometimes I will click out of the keyboard and it will just clear the message. The keyboard will randomly get sensitivity issues (like sometimes it won't hit keys, sometimes it will hit more than intended, etc.). I don't think this last one is a SMS issue thing (but I don't know since I don't talk on it very much) but my connection seems to go away a lot, or "go away" and I have to resend messages a lot. I don't know if that last one would be a Radio issue or not.
I don't know exactly what information I should provide but I'll just put a couple things that I've seen commonly posted for now:
ROM version: 24.Jul.2010 WWE (the ROM is the Energy.Leo.21991.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.24, as stated)
Radio version: 2.10.50.26
I wanted to ask you guys first since I'm not the expert at this. What I was going to do is backup everything, Task29 (though I need to find out all the info about it first, haven't seen much, just that it's a good thing to do), flash the new August 1[sup]st[/sup] version of Energy, and hard-reset. I wasn't however sure if I should flash a different Radio, and if I should I don't know how exactly (if someone could point me to a thread that would be great; the only one I could find is the Radio thread where they all are, not how to do it though but I could have missed it). If I should flash my Radio, which would you guys advise?
Thank you anyone who can help with this, it is very appreciated. If this has been posted somewhere I am sorry for bringing it up again. I looked and just couldn't find anything.
Also, just a side note type thing that isn't really related (just don't want to have to start another thread really). I'm relatively new to the whole programming/development scene and would like to know more about all of this. I do plan to look into the Windows Mobile Development and Hacking sub-forum and find out what I can there, but I was just curious what you guys would suggest and such and where a good place to start would be. Thanks again for any information on this subject as well.
Again, thank you anyone who can help with anything
Hi guys
So we all know how to rooting wilfire, thks to AlphaRev X and others developers, but here's the question...and i've searched and i need some guidance if you please.
I dont know wich custom rom i will chose...first if its one of 2.3 (aosp or sense) or 2.2 in the same way.
By the things i've read, some have some issues like, dont have gps, wifi etc...others are not so clear what they have working and not working.
So if you could help me on this matter, would be appreciated (and others users like me would appreciated too)
Thks cheers up
You have probably read about CM, with its not working GPS and WiFi. Well, GPS works after reflashing the Radio, and, WiFi seems to have some issues with some particular channels. Changing channels helps.
Anyway, I would recommend you give a try to CM7. I have switched from Sense based ROM's, and I love the pure Android experience offered by CM7. If, after installing, you find the bugs are too hard to live by, or, Stock Android doesnt suit you (like the dialer, camera app etc.) you can always switch to a Sense based ROM, or some other. There is a lot of choice.
thks for the advise
but i did lot of reading on the forum, mostly of the failures are from the last year, hope that some had been update but i still have some reserves and i dont find any sure, about, 3G/EDGE/WIFI/GPS/CAMERA and others things even on the site wont say what will work for sure, and what might wont work....and a realy want to something with this phone, but i dont want to something that i might regret lol
Hello guys, i'm getting crazy about this because, after trying a lot of custom and some official roms i keep having this problem: when bluetooth is active wifi is slow and become useless many times, not every times tho, which makes me even more confused but i'm pretty sure i've made a right diagnose of the problem and it's BT and Wifi interfering...
It's logical to think this must be a hardware issue, specially if you havent experienced it, and i might even try it in another p8 i have (i havent tried yet because it needs a new screen)
As a user i just can't live without bluetooth, maybe some of you didnt noticed it but you also have this issue... i'm just almost all day using bluetooth audio.
In case you experienced this problem, can you suggest any solution ? i'm sure this has to be a repeated problem in many devices due to the similar frequency range BT and Wifi operates (congratulations to the ones who decided to make this standards this way)
In the moment i think every custom rom i tried had some little imperfection or issue and, right now my choice is EMUi 4.1, for me the most valuable thing is the feeling of the OS, the stability, fluidity, consistence, elegance of the interface, and i can have all that with this firmware despite this f***** problem which is a total red line for me. Of course i'd root and customize EMUI a little bit...
BTW... i seem to worried for a 7 years old phone that i just love to have in my hand but its supposed to be just a spare phone while my main one waits for a fix... well yes, i got excited, and frustrated, and excited again... but i guess i will have to accept this dramatic situation and fix my new phone asap.
Suggestion of any custom rom or general solution for this ? thank you guys
