Hey, I just bricked my watch and dont have a system.img backup to restore the watch. Can anyone dump the system.img via TWRP or any other means ?
Thanks
If you get a hold of one, I could also use it. I didn't expect the OTA to verify the system partition with an unlocked bootloader.
@cheger32 if you can share your partition dumps except the user-data, I'll be grateful. I managed to installed system from an old OTA, but sadly, I have now lost the functionality to update my watch. It cannot even pass the basic verification from the update app. I am stuck at wearOS 2.30 and minor update is to go for 2.32. One user did contacted me for help, but he was on WearOS 3 and I don't want to do something, that may permanently brick my watch. Not in a mood for a costly stone at the moment.
Bumping to say that we weren't able to source a proper system image for this device. Anyone with this device and a few moments of time that would be willing to do a quick system dump would be greatly appreciated. Step by step instructions can definitely be provided.

It would definitely still be useful, if it's still available.
I'm damn stuck in fastboot mode after trying to downgrade to Wear OS 2.30 using the image file provided by Malvik (i converted the system vendor to .img files but it didnt work haha)
@Malvik is it possible to convert boot.img.p from your WearOS 3 OTA file to boot.img and flash it ? renaming the file dosent work

Hello,
The home button of my device (Magic) does not work at all. So, I can not confirm to install the CyanogenMod in the recovery screen.
Am I able to install the ROM via fastboot? or does anybody has another suggestion?
Regards,
Omer
Yes, you can flash ROMs via fastboot, but you'll need a system and data img for the ROM, and I'm not aware of a method to package them up based on an update.zip.
I checked inside the archive and saw the images but there also some scripts need to run. That's why; I couldn't dare to flash.
Is there a method I can follow?

You don't need any scripts, just a system and data to flash.
fastboot flash data.img
fastboot flash system.img
You wont find these images inside the update.zip, the sys/data-imgs need to be created from the sys/data folders. Best bet is to ask someone to perform a nandroid backup, backup the imgs, wipe, flash cyan, send you those imgs, restore their old imgs.
Thank you. But, the someone's device should be identical to magic, right? I have dream also. So, I can use the nandroid backups of it. However; I don't think this would be possible. what do you think?

I'm really not sure, but I think the device would need to have the same size data and system partitions as the Magic, which the Dream doesn't.
Use mkyaffs2 to make the System and Data .img Files
What operating system do you have because if you have linux or a linux virtual machine you could extract the update zip and use the mkyaffs2 utility code.google.com/p/yaffs2utils/ to make the system and data images.
There is also a much easier program called yaffey http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645412 but it is windows only
So this thread is kind of old, but I stumbled upon it looking for stuff.
Im using a google galaxy nexus and have a strange issue where I cant connect it via usb when in a different state than fastboot mode. I replaced the usb port (flex cable) already, but it doesnt help (if you got any advice on that, please tell me)
What I actually want to say is that I can't install cyanogen from recovery because I can't connect my phone when in recovery, but I can flash firmware normally via bootloader, I tried that already, so how exactly do I get the images for cyanogen? Because I don't fully grasp it yet.
My tablet is lenovo yoga tab 3 plus, YT-X703F.
I rooted my tablet, but I want to install an update. I have downloaded the OTA package, can I update by simply replace files? If it's possible, how to deal with those .p files?
Thank you.

No as I told you before, you cannot replace the partition images since the update does not contain full images but only patch files (.p files which contain only differences) and a special update format for the system image. Since you have a modified system image (and boot image) it is likely that when you manually apply the patch you will brick your device!!
But to give you some background, the .p files are applied using the apply_patch recovery function (source code is here), whereas the system image patch is applied using the updater recovery function (source is here)
However, as I said fiddling with this is highly risky and I can only repeat myself that the easiest solution is to approach other Chinese users and ask them to boot TWRP and make backups of system and boot partitions of the version you are running and send them to you so that you can flash them via fastboot or TWRP.

They don't have images like Google devices, but flashable firmwares.
http://lenovo-forums.ru/files/category/287-lenovo-tab4-a10-tb4-x304l/ has it, second from the bottom, underneath all the OTAs. Double check that you got the 4F and not the 4L one.
I don't have this device so I cannot help you with it if you have issues, nor can I say this will work for you. I also really don't profess to be any kind of an expert so do ask in one of the other Tab 4 threads if needed... but I do have the TB-8704F & have restored it to stock several times and I would assume the devices to be identical in process so I can give you a guide if needed! The general path is:
Download the zip and extract it
Download and install Xiaomi Mi Flash (some say to use QFIL but it often throws up errors and sometimes requires flashing in multiple passes, when Mi Flash doesn't)
Plug your device into your PC
Put your device into Emergency Download Mode, easiest way for you is probably to first reboot to TWRP which you luckily already have installed
In TWRP go to Advanced>Terminal>type Reboot EDL
Open Mi Flash and it should see your device. Click Select, open the images directory in your extracted firmware and it should detect the flashing process XML
Click Flash, then leave everything to complete
I will warn you that you will lose everything on your device. There's no way around this that I know of, nor would I suggest it anyway. Just back up everything before doing the restore.
+ Good luck! But honestly I'd first weigh up whether you really want to update to 8.1 since you're already on a perfectly-working device. They already pushed the OTA once and had to retract it because of the amount of serious errors it had - but that's your call entirely.

I dumped my images earlier today trying to root it. Just uploaded to my google drive for you if it helps. I tried patching magisk, but alas got in a boot loop. Luckily I had backed up boot.img so it was trivial to flash it back and get it to start again.

I was working on a rooting guide for these things (with more detail than the other threads have). The last thing I rooted was a Galaxy S3 back in the day, lol. It's been interesting catching up with all the new rooting things out there.

Thank you so much for hosting these images, I accidentally soft bricked my onn. tablet by flashing a bad twrp image, and using the stock recovery image you have hosted I was able to restore it to full functionality.

Absolute lifesaver, I restored my recovery and boot.img with your dumps, however.. the file you uploaded to Google drive containing the rest of the system images doesn't have a file extension, and I don't exactly know what I'm supposed to do in order to access them. Changing the extension to .zip, .img, .iso, ect, opens in 7zip and shows the different images, however when I try to extract it, 7zip throws errors about unexpected endings of files.
Question is, how do I actually use the "ROM" file you've uploaded?
Thanks so much!!

Magisk causes odd behavior especially with GSI, I would recommend just going for a prerooted GSI . Working on making twrp for this device. The 32MB recovery partition makes it a challenge I'm currently running a Android 12 GSI with enough room left over in the system partion to push a small gapps package but no way to install it yet.. I'll make it possible eventually. Might have to disable AVB and encryption but it's better than dealing with stock

Mine is softbricked, I am able to boot into recovery and fastboot. I patched the boot.img with Magisk and now it's stuck in a bootloop. I tried factory resetting, nothing. I flashed the boot.img you provided, nothing. It just gets stuck at the Orange State screen. I am on stock ROM.

FAILED remote: partition table doesn't exist is what it does when i flash system.img
Hi,
Lost root access after updating my OnePlus 6T to Android 11 a few days back, hence decided to flash magisk_patched image that I had created around 2 months back. Phone didn't like it ofcourse and gave me a QualComm Crash Dump error.
After searching, managed to boot into bootloader, however wondering how do I now boot my phone - I have downloaded and installed latest recovery (3.5.2_9.0-fajita.img) and am able to boot into recovery as well as bootloader/ fastboot.
Have also downloaded the zip file for Android 11 stable version - OnePlus6TOxygen_34.J.60_OTA_0600_all_2108052232_8c516d0cce8795.zip
Question - What do I need to flash this? adb commands don't seem to be working, only fastboot commands seem to. Can I just "push" this zip file in fastboot or is that only for img files?
Any help woud be massively appreciated!
The update to 11 does not agree with Magisk which causes it to either fail to complete the update or to die at early boot depending on how bad things were messed up. You can reapply root once the update to 11 is finished though, so you can still have root.
In your case manually upgrading to 11, letting it finish the upgrade, and then installing Magisk again is your best bet, in which case you would either have to find something that understands the update format or manually extract the updated partitions from the payload, iirc
Extracted boot.img and used fastboot command : fastboot boot boot.img, but this doesn't seem to have worked as well. Just thinking aloud what else can be done?
Edit - It now tries to boot, but then seems to go into OnePlus Recovery (from the chinese characters displayed along with an option to choose English language)

For the benefit of others, all sorted finally y'day evening. Plenty of helpful tips in this thread
(Well I was able to boot into Android 11.1.1.1 - no root as yet, but I will perhaps look into that later, can't stand those annoying ads :-D )
