[Q] Universal Remote

Hi I would really like to turn my a500 into a universal remote but would like to find out witch app works the best before i go out and buy the hard ware. Is there an ir or rf sender that i can just plug into my a500 ? I have checked out digit and red eye but have gottn mixed reviews can some one help? thanks
I haven't heard of an app with an RF sender for the A500. I do know the Sony S Tablet has a built-in IR sender for this purpose.
Depending on where you live and what you want to do, there is an excellent DirecTV Remote Control app in the Android Market that does a great job. Love it. It even looks just like the original DirecTV remotes. It works over WiFi to access your HD receivers and DVRs.
I'd be interested to know if there is an IR sender/app package that works as well.
Thanks
i have found a couple apps but im not shore if there compatible with the a500. i dont want to spend the money for the hardware if its not.
My Samsung tv Works great with the Samsung remote app .. i Can control my tv with my tablet . play games on the tv and type into the tv apps with the a500 keyboard . for posting on facebook yahoo and so on the tv apps.. B
But as said above This is over wifi .. the tv has to be behind the same router as the tablet .can also send movies from and to the tv with the tabler..
no ir reciever in the a 500 you would first have to find kernel / drivers for the ir hardware you choose and have a app written to contol your tv.. this is likely propritaty function depending on brand . if you have a smart tv check and see if it supports remote access over wifi ..

Xoom + SNES emulator + bluetooth PS3 controller = Awesome

Hi All,
I wanted to share my experience to make it easy for you to play old Skool SNES roms using SNES emulator with wireless gamepad. This will save you some trips to the store. Many instructions indicate that you can hookup the PS3 DualShock 3 SixAxis controller to your Xoom tablet using an OTG cable. These are available on Ebay. I didn't want to wait that long and found that it would be cumbersome to have a wired connector to the bottom of my tablet that is standing up or on its docking station. So the following is how I got it working via Bluetooth.
1. Xoom must be rooted
2. Download from Andoid market the SixAxis controller checker (free)
This will check to see if you tablet is compatible, will save you from buying controller, unless you already have a PS3 (I don't)
3. If step 2 is a go, then buy a PS3 DualShock SixAxis controller (I got the blue one for about 58$ Canadian)
**write down your tablets bluetooth network mac code, will need later.
4. Go to the following website: (cant post weblink on forum cuz im a noob but try www . dancing pixel studios . com - sixaxiscontroller - tool . html)
Download the tool, install, then plug your PS3 controller via USB to your PC
5. PS3 controller drivers will install and the program will recognize your controller.
6. Update the controllers master address with the one noted in step 3.
7. Once completed, go on Android Market and buy (2.99$) the SixAxis controller program, install on tablet.
8. Start this program, it will turn on bluetooth and listen for game controller.
9. Turn on your game controller (make discoverable), the tablet will find the device and pair easily.
10. Then you can try the free version of SuperGNES from the Android Market, is fully functions except you can't save your game data. It will work on Honeycomb version and ICS version.
11. Download some SNES roms to your tablet and you're in business. I can't tell you where to get them but if you google SNES roms you are sure to find some.
I hope this makes it easier for everyone, for a 2.99 investment, this is going to make my next business trip on the long plane ride a lot more fun.
With the latest version of Sixaxis Controller, you can elimate steps 3-6. All you need to do is plug the controller in with a usb OTG cable, and the app has a pair controller button, takes less then 10 seconds, and your up and running, no worry about mistyping or messing anything up. Just unplug once it's paired, hit the PS button and your cooking with gas.
What is the best SNES emulator? once upon a time wasn't it snesoid - http://slideme.org/application/snesoid?
is there anyway to use the bluetooth for ps3 without being rooted?
I like this but instead of playing SNES games I use mine with the Mame emulator & my PS3 controller
An Xoom + PS3 pad + a MAME emulator & plenty of old skool Street Fighter games = 1 very happy man :-D

For those who arent rooted, or just want an easier alternative, the Gamestop android game controller works perfectly with all emulators and a large portion of android games without any additional software. Just pair it with the Xoom and you are off and running.
Snes 9x EX is free for the full version.
I'm not rooted or anything but I use the wii controller with all the " oid" emulators . rom buddy app+ wiimote & wiimote controller apps = hours of fun. Tecmo bowl anyone?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
I have used Xbox emulation, RetroArch emulator and any other emulator, but I am greatly satisfied with RetroArch emulator.

PS4 remote play v2.6 working, but can't use any controller

So I got the ps4 remote play app working on my Shield but I haven't been able to get any controller working inside the ps4 remote play app.
Which is kind of weird, because all controllers I tried are working fine outside in all other apps.
One thing I haven't tried is to pair a ds4 controller with this sixaxis controller app on play store.
I head with this app it works. Can anyone confirm this?
In the ps4 remote play app there are these on screen touch buttons for use with a smartphone (I can also use them via the touchpad on my logitech keyboard).
I also read that the sixaxis controller app takes the ds4 controller input and emulates these touch button presses.
My goal would be to use other controllers than a ds4 controller, preferably a xbox one controller.
I guess if an app/module could grab controller input and emulate these touch presses in ps4 remote play app it could work....
Unfortunatly I'm no dev god that could code sth. :crying:
Maybe someone has an idea here?
What version of the app are you using and where did you download it.. can't even get that done for myself

Version 2.6 from apkmirror, newer ones don't work.
It won't work without root.
There's 2 things that are important to make it work:
In Magisk manager you have to install the Sony framework v1 module by Seyaru which makes it even possible to install the remote play app.
This also adds some Dualshock 3/4 system app.
Once installed, do not start the ps4 remote play app yet.
In Magisk manager settings activate Magisk hide. Go to Magisk hide and hide both the ps4 remote play app and the Dualshock.. app.
Now start ps4 remote play app and it should work.
Oh, if you try it on smartphone I should add: The ps4 remote play app will automatically update itself to latest version (which doesn't work) even if you deactivate auto update in playstore!
There's a modified version of ps4 remote play app v2.6 somewhere that doesn't auto update itself. But yeah.. on the Shield we don't have that problem since we sideload the app
So Shield tv needs root? I'm wanting to set this up so my mother can play her PS4, in her room, in our living room. She has no plus access to just transfer her save to the livingroom's PS4 Pro unit and doesn't want to have to manually transfer it back and forth.

Yes..or magisk and xposed modules. To be precise.
It's a shame that Sony doesn't enable ps4 remote play app for all android devices but just for their xperia devices.
Since October the PS4 remote play app is comptable with all Andoid devices including the Shield. I installed it on it but my Dualshock 4 controller seems to not we working. After launching the app, I have an error message : Dualshock is not compatible...
I also tried with the official Shield controller (v2 from 2017) and no error message, but it doesn't work better...
What's the problem ?

Android TV and game controllers.

Hello,
I am new with Android TV. I bought a Tictid D1 Max Android TV box, and I am trying to play games using game controllers.
But I have had time to let game controller work with it.
- Xbox One controller :
I tried an Xbox One controller (in bluetooth) which does work very well with an Android tablet (almost all games work fine on my tablet with the Xbox One controller).
But on my Android TV box, no success with this controller (the box does recognize the controller, I can use the controller to move inside the Android menus, but no game work with it).
- Bluetooth Switch controller compatible with Android and PC :
only one game worked.
- 2.4 Ghz multi platform controller (PS3 / PC / Android / Android TV) :
So far this one had the best results, but still very bad results : 3 games out of 20 tested were working fine (and I tried to switch the controller in all PC / Android modes).
So here are my questions :
- as it seems to be a software issue on my Android TV box (input drivers ?), I wonder if this problem is specific to my Tictid D1 Max box, or if this is the case for all Android TV boxes ?
- is there an app which would increase the game controllers compatibility with Android TV games ?
- is there a specific game controller which is known to be working with almost all games on Android TV ?
Thanks !
Something like the Rii RK707 might work. I have one & it works fine on PC & Android, but I haven't tested it much with Android games. It's also not as ergonomic as a dedicated controller.
