Haayot T95Z Plus android tv box - Android TV General

Yesterday I received my android tv box from AliExpress.
Because I wanted a recent I ordered the Haayat T95Z android TV Box (android 12).
The most of it works fine but I thought every android tv box can be used as a cast receiver. But not this one.
After some research I found out there was no Google cast receiver in the system apps.
So it seems there's no android TV on but just Android.
Preinstalled apps include Airscreen and if I turn this on I can cast to it but only photos and no Videos.
I tried castreceiver but no luck for videos.
I could find and install Google cast receiver from June 2022 but there is no interface for this app and it is not enough to install it to let it act as cast receiver.
Now I wonder if all of these T95Z plus boxes share the same problem and if there are custom roms you can install and those custom roms come with android TV.
Or are there apps to implement google cast receiver with support for videos.
Can anybody help?

Flash Different Software On Your Smart TV

Hi
Just a quick question, but with all the new 'smart' tv on the market, is it possible. Once rooted (Like with samygo.tv or other software like this) to flash software not intended for the TV?
So If i Have a samsung smart tv with Internet @ TV Could i go in and flash google TV onto my samsung tv?
Would this be possible?
Thanks,
Theo.
I know that with the google TV boxes no, now there are smart boxes running Android, kinda like a knockoff.

[Q] Cable Box Integration

Am I right in saying that this does not include cable box pass through. i.e. I cannot use this device to search through by cable channels like I can with Google TV?
Right

Thanks. But darn, that's a big loss IMHO
Personally I use a hdhomerun prime and a windows 7 box with WMC to record TV. Have ServerWMC installed there which allows XBMC to be used as a WMC client for viewing live TV and recorded programs as well. I am already doing this with two FireTVs so doing it on the nexus player will be a no brainer. I don't miss a cable company STB and since the player has googlecast support I finally have everything I need in one box.

Google wants us watching Google "TV" via the Internet: Youtube, Play Movies etc.
Google does not want us watching cable, satellite or OTA TV. Google doesn't make money on advertising or content there.
Same deal with OTA FM radio (despite Android One, which is only for "developing" markets.)

This is not the case at all, and in fact quite the opposite. there is even a tv input framework built into android tv and they were demoing the tv app with a hdhomerun at google i/o
i suspect that they will be working with stb manufacturers to deliver live tv over IP, and we will probably see other hardware shortly with HDMI in.
check out the framework here https://developer.android.com/training/tv/tif/index.html
and showing it off at i/o with the live tv bit

BEST NEWS ALL WEEK.
I'd still like an official Windows Media Center Extender app, but watching live from the HDHomeRun is a huge win.
I'm pretty excited. I think they have cracked the input problem with the new framework. I suspect there will be a slew of network tuners coming to market for android TV.
SiliconDust HDHomeRun VIEW
Just to update this line of thought, SiliconDust released an updated version of their VIEW app on Friday.
This allows you to use their network tuners to view live TV on Android. While they listed official support only for the ADT-1, I've had some luck with my Nexus Player. I suspect the trouble is from the difference in the ADT-1 being ARM based while the Player is x86. You can keep an eye on their development on their Android TV development forum.
For me, it works perfectly from their VIEW app (which shows up in the leanback launcher without needing to go into chainfire's side launcher). The problem arises when trying to go through the TV Input plugin. I can see the channels, and sometimes get sound, but never video and usually a "tune failed" toast.
Particularly relevant to the OP might be that I'm using their Prime tuner which has a CableCard so basically replaces my Comcast STB.

Live Channels for TV

(I looked for this but search seems to be busted)
Anyone know the situation with getting live TV on the Shield? I bought one to replace the Android TV function of my POS Philips 4K TV, which is so full of bugs as to be unusable and no fix coming from Philips. So far everything is great - fast, remote works all the time, stable - but no TV. I'd like to get my channels working with Live Channels because of the superior UI and the ability to record in the future. Don't want to use kodi or any other third-party TV apps.
I set up a dvblogic server on my NAS and using their beta dvblogic Live app am able to see the guide and switch channels in Live Channels but it doesn't correctly identify language tracks and subtitles don't work at all, and dvblogic have announced that they are abandoning the app's development to concentrate on their own fugly, proprietary app.
I saw that someone has released a hacked kernel with support for USB tuners, though it's for making Kodi work; in theory from what I've read about live channels it ought to just sort of work with supported tuners. Has anyone tried this?
Aside from the hacked kernel are there any other options? I have both DVB-T and IPTV available to me, and while I'd prefer IPTV I'll take whatever I can get. I was sort of hoping that when I connected the Shield to my router it would just find the IPTV channels and put them in the guide. Silly me.
Why dont you just IPTV Pro, there is a free version on Google Play Store. Im using it and its works perfectly with no problems...

I think the best solution with a NAS is :
- tvheadend server on the NAS with a tuner
- tvheadend client on the shield : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ie.macinnes.tvheadend
But if you have IPTV, it's the easiest solution
You can use Cumulus TV to add m3u8 files in Android Live Channels : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.felkertech.n.cumulustv
Hauppauge
hi
I am trying to get my usb Hauppauge DVB-T2 working on my NVIDIA shield. I have been looking how to do this for several days and cant find any answers that work for me.
I have installed HDHomerun so i can see the live channels app. I also have a VPN and have set it to the USA. I dont want to pay plex.
If anyone can give me a step by step on how to get this working would be great?
Do you want to watch live TV on your phone? It turns out that you have a wide range of options to choose from, with the majority of them being reasonably priced. We looked at a variety of live TV apps, going over listings and other people's recommendations before trying them out and selecting the ones we thought were good enough to recommend.

Hisense 43A6G And Android smart tv s in general... (My first post here)

I own a CHANNEL MASTER Android set top box. I bought the thing so that I can continue to enjoy Over The Air free ATSC broadcast tv. The CHANNEL MASTER via GOOGLE's LIVE CHANNELS app lets me view, schedule and DVR.
I buy an ANDROID Tv with the hope to plug in my antenna and a formatted USB harddrive and use LIVE CHANNELS app to do the same. I read somewhere that some European models (Phillips) allow OTA, dvr and provide EPG. LIVE CHANNELS app on my HISENSE 43A6G (a native GOOGLE app) does nothing !! No EPG No DVR option !!
Can someone here point me to how to MOD the LIVE CHANNELS app to enable these options. Has anyone even considered this ? I seems obvious that an ANTENNA tv should at least provide EPG.
It's next to unbelievable that any ANDROID smart tv with LIVE CHANNELS app lacks OTA dvr and EPG capabilities !!
Android TV puts a focus on helping you discover the content you can enjoy on your TV, whether it's through one of your subscription services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Google Play Music, or from your own personal media collection via media center software like Plex.
?????
Not an answer to my question.
Find a copy of the app from the euro TV and install it.

Tweak Android TV to appear as another brand?

Is it possible to tweak Android TV to appear as another brand?
I started wondering about this when I realized that Netflix isn't available for some brands.
I know it works on Nvidia Shield.
Is it possible to make an Android TV product appear as an Nvidia Shield?
Something tells me it’s probably going off more than just brand, such as hardware requirements and safetynet and drm status. You might want to google how to install Netflix on a rooted device, because Netflix is probably treating your device as somehow unofficial like it does with rooted ones. You basically just have to install a certain version of Netflix that allows it. I recommend the websites apkpure or apk mirror for safe app downloads outside the Play Store and just side loading them onto your Android TV with an sd card / cable / Bluetooth etc.
