Hello,
Apart from /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 (/system), it seems that /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 (mounted to /flexrom) contains the information needed for Acer's update system. Since I have flashed the chineese update.zip, my flexrom data contains the chineese info that prohibits me from updating. I want to revert to stock. Flashing update.zip and then a system image is not enough, since you are left with the wrong data in the flexrom partition.
Could someone please upload a dump of his /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 and /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 while in ACER_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1?
Use the following commands:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/sdcard/system.img
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/flexrom.img
I think we need a way to be able to restore to stock!!!!
Thanks!
Noone can give me a dump?
I'LL try to help you.

thanks mate!
First file here (flexrom.img) : http://dl.free.fr/uQluj8M9P
100MB compressed into 1.71MB
The second one (system.img) is 600 compressed to about 341MB. it will take time to upload
Can you give me an email where i can send the upload notification?
Upload of system.img started, going to bed.
I'll post the link tomorrow morning.
Testing here...
Alright, I know its not my post but I am trying to get back to stock already too... I already have the system.img from another xda member... I have downloaded the flexrom.img (thanks for the upload!!!)
This is what I have done:
Opened terminal emulator and went SU
Here is the command and the response...
# dd if=/sdcard/flexrom.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
204800+0 records in
204800+0 records out
104857600 bytes transferred in 35.551 secs (2949497 bytes/sec)
#
Now... time for factory reset and see where this takes us... jejeje
UPDATE: I have restored the tablet to factory settings and came back (what I consider) 100% back to stock. The welcome screen was in english and everything. About to sign in and test gApps and stuff... THANKS GUYS!!! AWESOME!!!
hey thanks a lot man for detail manual) now i need to manage set up a system.img because ive always got stack at acer logo after placing system.img into mmcblkp0p3
Check this for your issues.
I have a post to do this over at ppc... I have a link there with the update.zip and the system.img I have. download it and use that one. I have what to do in my post...

Thanks gents, great work! This was the missing piece I needed for complete recovery, but I just didn't know it yet! I had already completely restored a few days ago with the Chinese zip and a US system.img, but didn't realize the flexrom partition was hosed as well. I just flashed that as well with no issues. A 100Mb partition zipped to 1.7Mb LOL. Again, great work!
In case some are wondering why in the world I would have to do this. I was doing some research trying to get the netflix apk to work by experimenting in /system with stagefright and OMX libraries from the CM distro that works. One of the new .so files I copied in hosed me up and I couldn't get past the acer boot image. I was somewhat fearless since we had the Chinese zip and I had my system.img. And it turned out it was pretty easy to recover, but I don't recommend this for newbs or the faint of heart LOL.
I'm looking for a stock system.img for Acer_A500_1.016.04_COM_GEN1 or Acer_A500_1.139.04_COM_GEN1. Australian model if anyone has one, as requested here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088063
Sorry if the archive is corrupted, I'll upload it again , it will be available in about two hours
Okay, I am attempting to #unlockthedroid, but first I will need dumps from "/dev/block". What I'm trying to do is pull off @CrashXXL methods of rooting with Write Protect=1 but allowing the potential of unlocking bootloader with Sunshine. And I don't want it to be done randomly, so this is what we'll need to do in order to get that dump:
Requirements:
Rooted
Bootloader Unlocked
Firmware to be at 4-21. It's easier for me. Or if you have anything below, it'll probably work too.
Willing to spend time; this'll take a VERY long time. So you'll need to leave your phone overnight or whatever it takes for it to finish copying.
Instructions:
Turn on ADB in settings. (If done already, next step)
Get ADB and Fastboot on your computer. (If done already, next step)
Go to ADB directory
adb shell
Click to collapse
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p38 of=/(any directory)/(name your file anything - just remember the location combination)
Click to collapse
When done, exit ADB
adb pull /(directory)/(file name)
Click to collapse
Submit the file from the ADB folder to your own Google Drive, Mega, or Dropbox. Wherever you wish.
Files we currently need:
Droid Mini mmcblk0p5, 0p13, 0p33
Droid Ultra mmcblk0p5, 0p13, 0p33
Droid Maxx mmcblk0p5, 0p13, 0p33
There is also a certain block I don't know the mmc block number to, so when someone knows where partitions.mbn is then we'll be one step closer to getting my phone flashed and tested.
Thanks in advanced!
P.S.: Staff, please move this somewhere correct if where it is right now it's not.

I do not think that this would work, yes You can flash the 4-21 (all bootloader partitions + kernel + system) in the QLOAD mode, as You have access to the whole flash memory.
But the trusted boot chain will not let you boot earlier bootloader and system when a newer one was already there. Phone needs to be bootloader unlocked, to boot into any version.
It's worth trying. And plus, you never know what you can find if you try...
question is it possible to get a system dump from the following version -4.2.2-SU1-15-3 trying to unbrick my device and i need certain files from that version thanks been trying to do this for a while and no one seems to wanna help out

I think You can get all you need from the original FXZ file.
You can get all the bootloader partitions from the motoboot.img, see my post here.
Additionally You can extract the system partition with the simg2img tool from here, but this would be the original, not the rootet image,so You would need to insert the su binary by yourself.

If this is the method it would've been done already... But no, motoboot.img cannot be extracted for all it's worth. It has aboot, gpt, and many other parts we need to create a complete set of unbricking and/or bootloader-necessary files.

Sigh... I wish, my friend. I know what you want, but nobody's willing to provide it because of. @CrashXXL is nice enough to provide the unbricking files but nobody is willing to dump for SU1.

it actually is as easy as this, the motoboot.img file is just the bootloader partition images put into one file plus a 1024 bytes header. I have extracted these image and compared them with the dumps from my own phone and they are identical, so this motoboot is not compressed or encrypted.
If You still do not believe me just check for yourself, dump for example the aboot partition from your phone and compare it with the motoboot image from the FXZ file for your firmware version, I think you will find the aboot image inside the motoboot image at some 512bytes aligned offset (you can get the offset from the header, see the description in my post linked above)
Edit: I have added my code I wrote to extract the motoboot image to this thread

Not sure if you or anyone can do anything with it but I have a twrp backup of the boot and system from su1-15. Let me know if anyone wants it.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Free mobile app
@mr_verystock are you still working on this?
Yes, I'm working on it. But I'm dealing with school, along with patching up a broken computer which I am planning to use for my daily driver. So currently I'm installing Linux, to do a mbn split.
Oh, and I kinda messed up my Droid Maxx while doing this... Don't worry, it's a backup, I have a Droid Mini as main.
WOHOO!!!!!!!!!
Is it rooted?
What version of Android are you on?
Ya still working on this?
Hey man. I have a (probably useless) Droid Mini "dev" edition (on su6-7). Today, I will be receiving a droid maxx on 4.4 (idk if its 19.5.3 or 19.6.3 yet) and i will be unlocking it with sunshine. if you still need files/help, i can help. (when you do start work on this again). my sincere hope, aside from a bootloader unlock for the folks on 4.4.4) is that somehow this will help the Turbo folks. (mofo root is good, but bl unlock is better). let me know if and when i can help man.
Hey, yeah, please let me know if you need anything once you get started again. I have a droid ultra that I just bought off groupon for $80.
YYUSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!
Great thing I have a Droid Mini. Can you dump cid.mbn for 4.4? That's the file I want to mess with currently after you unlocked.
me or him, broheim?
edit: duh, me. ill have it pulled and uploaded tomorrow around noon
Is it uploaded to a hosting site or not?
i never saw any reply dude. i can upload what i have...but my mini is on 4.4.4. i have a maxx on 4.4, but no dice on that build. i thought for a moment i was crazy. if it helps you to have either or both, i will pull them right now and throw up a link to my drive.
Hm... I can't do anything with the 4.4.4 one, I'll take the Maxx on 4.4 cid.mbn. Sorry if there were any confusion!!!
Came across this today. I didn't upload it, so thank you to whoever did!

Just FYI - there is a utility that will convert the sparse chunks to a single image ext4 system.img:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2749797
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61132614&postcount=3
But there is likely a header and a footer in the file as explained in that thread. Those have to be removed using a HEX Editor before you can flash it using mofo.exe. I wrote out the instructions on how to do that in that thread above.
Then you can root it using @btdownloads7's method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61132621&postcount=4
No need to reinvent the wheel if you have a device running TWRP you can just follow that method.
We have also learned that you have to delete the contents of both /data/dalvik-cache and /cache before you flash an image with Xposed for Lollipop baked into it. This has to do with the conversion from dalvik to ART.
If you are having trouble getting Xposed baked into your image, you can read about @mikeoswego's method here but check to make sure you are using the most recent Xposed files as there have been updates:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61132732&postcount=7
Where does one go about getting these Verizon images? Is it something Verizon issues to the public? If not, how does one trust this image as not being tampered with?

They cannot be tampered with, or they cannot be flashed through the signature check, which is what verifies the integrity of the file as well. Mofo, however, does not verify signature for obvious reasons. Where this particular file popped up is hard to say.

Hello, am new here so if I did something wrong please correct me OK
-presentation:
we all love running latest android versions and install big a** games like asphalt 8 and have all the Google apps that we love
But in Janice it's some kind of impossible to do all of that ( come on its only 4 years old!!)
As they say no impossible under the sun now you can easily increase system or data or what ever partition your want just by flashing a Lil file and without losing a single file
-Warning:
Me and XDA are not responsible for any soft hard leaks or what ever you are doing this by your self!!!
Make a full backup(system data boot) before starting..
DO NOT USE THIS FILE WITH ROMS THAT USE CACHE (CM10.2)
-Requirements:
1. Janice or Janice-p(not tested)
2. TWRP Recovery (Any Version)
3. The attached file
Instruction:
1. Download the repartition file
-rename the file with your favorite partition sizes like "lanchon-repit-20160317-system=1-data=max-cache=0.03125 wipe-preload=min wipe-fota=min wipe ext4-sdcard=2-janice.zip" which means 1gb system 2gb sdcard and the rest will go to data partition so you will be able to install more apps
2. Boot into TWRP and make a backup
3. Flash the repartition file of your desire
4. Take a nap or watch big bang theory just waste some time
5. When the script finish restore your backup and reboot
6. Enjoy your games or what ever

If you want a file with your own sizes just write or in comments and i'll do my best to offer it to you
hi,
thanks for the guide! a couple of comments:
1) i suggest people get REPIT from its main site:
https://github.com/Lanchon/REPIT
the files posted here are already very old, i've updated REPIT several times.
also, i only provide support for the latest version. older versions are unsupported.
2) if you download the files from here, they will not work.
(XDA messes with the filenames changing = for -)
3) you don't need to backup anything unless you want to revert the flashing of the kernel.
4) you don't need to flash any particular kernel to run REPIT, you just need a recent TWRP build.
5) TWRP with gparted is not needed anymore: REPIT now bundles gparted and other tools.
6) the configurations proposed here are incorrect. you should use:
a) if you want 3GB data and rest as internal sdcard:
-system=1.0-data=3.0-cache=0.03125+wipe-preload=min+wipe-fota=min+wipe+ext4-sdcard=max.zip
b) if you have an external sdcard, and want 6GB data and a very small internal sdcard:
-system=1.0-data=max-cache=0.03125+wipe-preload=min+wipe-fota=min+wipe+ext4-sdcard=0.0625+wipe.zip
then your internal sdcard will be useless. so you need to swap internal and external sdcards as detailed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ment/mod-internal-memory-repartition-t2863629
these configurations will keep contents of system and data. if you don't care about their contents, configure wiping (add '+wipe') for those partitions and REPIT will repartition much faster then.
7) read REPIT manual before using!

Yeah thank you updated OP
first of all thank you both
just to be sure, i have a couple of questions:
- how much space does a full backup take?
- what is the limit to the repartition? right now i'd like to add one gigabyte to system for apps, which numbers do i need to write in the zip name?
- what does the "wipe preload" and "wipe fota" strings do?

lanchon-repit-20160317-system=1-data=max-cache=0.03125 wipe-preload=min wipe-fota=min wipe ext4-sdcard=2-janice.zip
Just rename the file to this and your will have 1gb system 2gb SD card and the rest well go to data if you want to edit a partition size for example the number 1 after system means the system will be 1gb and the number 2 in front of SD card means the SD card will be 2gb and max in front of data means the rest well go to data partition
Preload and fota are partition used in only stock ROMs and stock based ROMs so if you are running a custom ROM this will give you more space in the partition your set to max
thanks to both devs, i have one question is it compatible with cm13 ?
will i be able to re-size F2fs or i need a EXT4 to use this tool .
i just did everything but i'm not sure it worked
i used this name for the flashable zip
lanchon-repit-20160317-system=1-data=max-cache=0.03125 wipe-preload=min wipe-fota=min wipe ext4-sdcard=2-janice
but in system info it still says that data is 3.91GB, and i have 1.84GB for SDcard
maybe i should have gone further and give 3GB to SDcard?

Yup it works if your wanna check system download a small app called disk info
If you want 3gb on sdcard change the 2 number in front of it this will give you 2gb on data

Yup 100%
Make a backup first and when resizing all partitions will be formated to ext4 then restore your backup it will automatically format them to f2fs
ayt man thanks , trying it right away !!
edit : getting error 1 in twrp 3.0.0 on cm13 rom I THOUGHT IT WAS compatible with repit , as said on the GITHUB

something is not right can you please help , i would like to have 1 gb system n 2 or 3gb in data partitions correct me if i am wrong if the size configuration is wrong ?? what should i do.
also so i have to now restore my backup to get back to cm13 coz i am stuck at recovery ? any shortcut, like(flashing cm13 kernel) to go back to system as it was before or i have to restore the backup ?

.zip.zip and that is what was happening anyhow the device has started reparting , so one last question after when this process is over , i just install my backup and that is it ? right !!

Can someone here confirm that the kernel cm12.1 (OP) can be installed in the latest CM11 ROM by epirex? And if repit could work after 12.1 Kernel installed in CM11 ROM? Thanks in advance.

First make a backup with your cm11's kernel then flash cm12.1 kernel then flash the script and the kernel doesn't t care about your current rom so it should work every where
I thought id put together a thread with all my main tweaks and modifications to allow our device to perform better
lets start!
Decrypt
this ones an easy one - flash noverity and decrypt and you're on your way right?
i took this a step further and modified the boot.img for 4.7.6 to remove encryption and verity and added some mount flags
the flags ive added are:
noatime - noauto_da_alloc - nodiratime - data=writeback - barrier=0 - nobh
you can google to find out more information about these flags, but they all deliver top performance with minimal risk (possible risk: sudden power off may result in data loss)
How to
easy! *required /data to be formatted if you are not already decrypted
flash the modified boot image: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WItoR1ifuCRYXwBvzBdis3hUnCftlUd-
format /data
flash supersu / magisk if you were rooted otherwise stay stock
if you want to flash a kernel you need to replace the fstab.qcom with the modified version (to do this open the kernel zip and paste over the fstab.qcom)
kernel fstab.qcom: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XRI5EWwREnvxCVWrjY4FFu1PQs1bbUje
Disable journaling completely
my favourite tweak - disables journaling
How to
i like doing this before first boot but you can do it whenever really
ideally in TWRP
first, explorer /dev/block/
for every file you see in /dev/block you add tune2fs -O ^has_journal before it
so for example, if /dev/block has a file called sdd01
you will type: tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/block/sdd01 in TWRP terminal
and so on for sdd02 etc etc (or you can create a script to do this for you) it will not succeed on all blocks as some dont have this features.
DOES NOT WORK ON 5T FOR SOME REASON WILL NOT BOOT INTO OS AFTER THIS IS DONE
Misc tweaks
some other tweaks i have not tested to see if they're working on the 5T
but here they are
How to
Scripts (you can run on boot or on demand):
fstrim (requires busybox): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MSqvVlOr59Y8y-3DiJ3Snms_rEvJWVzX
sqlite vaccum and reindex database: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NcW33rvoInQPSx9w8RcQ__GC_5Vhv-6a
also requires this file in xbin: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1p2COCUjhiAaIjyZjV84EmvUgntp0_bdi
zipalign: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wWyfoy6QuVCtwUUkI9TVrobNbv7Kset8
also requires this file in xbin: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1K25bOrA7eVUacHEVrHNN2At6D-Dnfgmi
mark disk as non-rotational,disable iostats, simple iomerges no hash lookup, rq_Affinity set to 2 - best for multitasking uses all cores to complete request instead of cpu 'group' : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YJ5GHGqwl8tzxvRyEGYINPIp4zdHUgTd
Stock Boot 4-7-6
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OQKJB9gRj2SG7WS9J-ucuUaWmqPn1gMl
Stock Boot 4-7-6 no flags, decrypt no verity
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gXYYw7E2fzSRkh2J-1hZIS4EH34zeBPT
if anyone has any other tweaks they'd like to share ill be sure to add them in!
THIS WORK IS OPEN TO ANYONE FOR USE
FREE KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL
Thank for the tips, could you post the boot img for 4.7.6 with out the flags being set.

Hi @virtyx
I'm sorry I'm hijacking this thread but I can't find answers to my questions anywhere.
Why would you decrypt the phone ? Why is useful ? Does TWRP can't read from the sdcard partition if the phone is encrypted ? What can't you do with an encrypted phone ?
Everybody is talking about decrypting the phone but nobody says why is it for.

in my experience decrypting makes the phone perform better (people will argue it makes no difference) but every time ive done it i notice improvement.
twrp is fine for reading the sdcard, decrpytion has its benefits but also drawbacks (easier to hack, etc) you can do the research yourself, but there are benchmarks showing the differences (mainly reads are affected)
if you're smart with your phone (i.e dont download suspicious stuff) you should be fine without encryption.
ive never had it on, except when i cant turn it off

To run decrypted ROMs mainly. I see no other reason but im curious too
Since some ROMs can only boot if you are decrypted i guess it's that
Did a very quick lookup of that journaling business and it sounds interesting. Have you noticed much of a difference in performance on vs disabled?

definitely found better responsiveness with it disabled, and multitasking is much better
Can u help me to create script for disabling journal? I had 100 files on block folder ?
Oh and also, can I flash ur modified boot.img on 4.7.5? Because I haven't got system update to 4.7.6. it would be troubling me if I had to reflash the whole 4.7.6 rom since I had around 300 apps installed. Thanks before btw
