Hey all, my nothing phone is running the latest build and has developed a random audio glitch that is also now a charging glitch where it will start and stop audio of all types after 2 seconds, pause for 1 second and repeat. Initially I thought it was just music and streaming apps until someone phoned me and my ringtone did the same thing.. Weirder still is connected to wireless earbuds has the exact same effect. I've factory reset several times now with 0 change apart from now charging while switch on follows the exact same pattern.. charges for 2 seconds and then stops. Guessing something is pretty broken and now the phone is just a dud but before I slamdunk it into the trash any ideas?
wait does it happen consistently every two seconds?
Yeah it's beyond frustrating when you're trying to talk on the phone it's still doing it

Using an external Equaliser like Wavelet brought me that issue, but otherwise this is unheard of.
Heading straight to the service center is what i'ld recommend, if you are from India.
#ps: Try booting into SAFEMODE and see if the problem still exists

Okay, let's see if I can explain this right.
Well, my wife HTC Inc is acting weird. So somehow the Media Volume stops working. You can try to adjust it up or and down no luck. The ringer volume works fine. I even downloaded a volume app after I noticed the situation and tried to adjust the media volume (you can see the bar adjust) through the app, no luck. After I do a hard boot by taking the battery out, then it works.
Questions in troubleshooting:
- Does it need some sort of update?
- Is it a defective equipment?
I tried searching for it, no luck.
i have never had this problem so your saying even after a reboot it does stop working again?
Same Problem
I just got my Incredible a few days ago. I noticed the same problem this morning. I powered the phone off and back on and it worked fine. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong because I'm new to Android and I don't know how to use the phone yet or if it was an internal problem. The only thing I can think of that may have started the problem is I plugged headphones in and used the FM radio for a minute. If I have any other problems or come across anything I will let you know.
M- It stops working after a certain amount of time. To get the media volume to work, you have to reboot.
S- talk to Verizon tech, there will be an update out to fix this issue. Not sure when..

Hi,
I have seen this in some threads, but I have not seen any solution.
I have rooted my X10a phone to R2BA023 and now, the phone takes a long time to recognize I have inserted a headphone, routing the audio to the external speakers.
I do not have this issue when I am using bluetooth, jst my normal headphones.
Anybody has a solution for this?
It happens to me too. It is kindda fixed (version 20 had a huge problem with headphones) but it is really slow to pickup the headphone signal
I don't know if it is time based or software based
Things I do that SEAM to work sometimes:
force close mediascape and re-open
boot with headphones connected,
turn media volume all way down, pause, play and turn it back all the way up.
wait for a minute or so
I don't get what turns it on. I thought it was fixed.
I'm having no problem, of course I force close most apps, including mediascape as soon as I boot up.
By the way, I do not use mediascape. I use 3 (cubed).
I usually force close most of my apps also.
I have not use the delete step of the rooting tutorial.
mine is working fine b4 and after rooted! is there something wrong with your headphone jack?
I'm rooted on R2BA023, using 3(cubed) as well. Use it everyday for 3 hours or so (1hr drive to work each way) it works instant for me, I did a check yesterday after seeing your thread. Might be a hardware issue??
I'm having the same issue. I know my headphones worked with the first root, but when I upgraded to R2BA023 is when they stopped working.
I noticed that if you restart the phone with headphones plugged in, they work, or if you leave them plugged in for like 2 minutes, they start working fine.

I don't know about the restart with the phones plugged, but my headphones worked just fine with the R2BA020 root and they start working just after sometimes, this happenning not moving the phone or the headphones at all.
Just tried the restart. It just works after some time also.
I have no probs whit mine done rooting and did it at the first time
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
I have had my desire he for a week now.
Though everything is fine, I'm having problems with the sound. It was working fine before but after a day or two it would randomly stop. After doing a hard reset to set factory defaults the sound would then work again.
Today the sound has stopped working again...
What is causing this? Could the phone be faulty or is it an app causing this?
The sound was working fine this morning but now there is no sound whatsoever.
All installed apps were previously used on my HTC desire & HTC hero and never did I receive any problems.
Anyone else had any similar problem or what may be causing this?
I need an answer soon guys. I just spoke to vodafone customer services regarding the sound problem. They are saying it's faulty and needs to be repaired.
However I'm sure it does not need to be repaired as doing a simple factory reset will fix the problem.
Could an app cause this issue and stop the sound working?
When I make a phone call, the loudspeaker works fine...
Why is loudspeakers/phone calls working for sound but system sounds/alarms/SMS/music or even videos have no sound.
If I was to do a reset it would then work again.
Anyone have any suggestions before I return the phone for repairs?
Taking the phone in for repairs is the last thing I wanna do.
I know this won't help, I have had issues when the Bluetooth dropped off while listening to Music (A2DP). At first I was re-booting the phone and the problem was solved, then I decided to switch off/on my Bluetooth device and phone connection and it worked okay. However on a couple of occasions the phone has mysteriously gone into "Silent Mode" and I have no idea what caused it?
This is most strange, does restarting your phone also fix the problem or do you always have to do a reset?
I've not heard of this problem before...
Does the sound stutter before it goes off and does the phone lag at all??
I really couldn't tell you but I thought I'd respond anyway before you take it for repair..
Also have you tried setting all sounds to zero and then back to max again...does that work??
Wonder if volume locker app would stop this, or at least it should tell you if the sound settings have changed and then revert them back....just a thought.
hello guys just to confirm you are not the only one with that problem out there... restarting the phone works for me though try that! but yes its definetley a bug i have also had the proximity problem, wifi doesnt work and heep of other stuff so ill be returning the handset in the next couple days!
either way good luck with yours!

Thanks for your reply. I had to do factory default twice on it to get the sound back.
Funny enough just now I held down the power button to restart the phone.
It then restarted and the sound is now working!
I do not know if it will stop working again or how long it will take for it to stop working again.
I will keep you all informed.
At the moment all I can say is the battery is terrible.
It was 75% this morning and now it's around 25% and it's only been around 2 hours...
Do you find the phone to be laggy??

I did at first find it very laggy, especially when browsing through pictures, it was sluggish and would take ages to load the pictures.
Now, after enabling the USB Debugging setting, it was a smooth as butter.
Sound is still working! Battery is now 18% when it was 80% this morning!
And another person with the same problem.
I am helping my friend with his DHD and today he announced that his phone has a similar issue (and he says that the small speaker - for making calls - is working). He is on a stock rom, but his phone was originally from 3.
Do you know of any custom ROMs with sence which don't have this issue?
Do you think it would be a good idea to contact HTC about that - who tried?
Do you have fast reboot on? If you do try disablin that and do a restart of the phone. Maby that helps

Thanks for advice, but it didn't work . Even tried taking out the battery. Do you know if it's possible to monitor your hardware components in Android?
Does anyone else's MT4G randomly restart on them? Mine does it all the time...I'll click on messages and the phone will freeze and then restart...it will do this 1-2 times a week, and it isn't just when I click on "messages" either, it'll do it randomly.
Sometimes I'll have my phone in my pocket and feel it vibrate and take it out and it's on the "MT4G" loading screen.
It happens to me too, but it seems to happen much more in CM7 than the stock ROM. Not sure what causes it, but I don't know if there's any fix at all.
Well I'm on stock rom...so that really sucks cause I was just lookin into flashin a rom LOL
What i've seen is that it's a memory overload glitch in CM7 I haven't heard about it in stock. but for instance on cm7 your running music gps and want to make a phone call then boom it resets. It thinks it's out of memory so it reboots to close all processes and to regain RAM. I personally don't think it's running out of memory I think it has a mis configured default but that's just me. Hope that helps

Mine does it in CM7 when I'm listening to music with either the headphones plugged in, or the ipod cable in the car plugged in.
This just started happening to me today and it is different from the speaker snap/pop bug (I get that one also). I was playing a game and the sound kept cutting out, every 10-15 seconds it would cut out maybe one second of sound. I figured it was just the app, force closed it, tried again, persisted. Next I reboot the phone, still there. Next I try a different app, I opened up google play and started a song, still cutting out.
So now I have a practically brand new phone that can't play more than 10 seconds of audio at a time.
Anyone have any ideas on something else I can try?
Happened to me too.(pop thing/spark sound) Happens before a notification or app sound right? About a week ago i finally went to Best Buy and exchanged it. A few days later this Moto Z Force starts popping too i discovered it takes a few days or a week for the popping to break in with new devices.
Later today the popping sound quit magically after i called Motorola and told them to Put this issue into their SORUM issues bank. To play it safe I'd return your device. Motorola says they will replace it up till a year unlimited if the problem keeps occurring.

That's a new one. Unfortunately you need to try a factory reset and if it persists after that you can warranty it.
So even though this persisted through a few reboots, it randomly stopped. So as of now my phone audio is back to normal. (the speaker pops still happen though)
