S10+ (SM-G975U) unlock hotspot... any recent updates? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I've been searching around and not seeing an answer:
Is there any recent info on unlocking the wifi hotspot for a SM-G975U? The service code/DUN trick doesn't work ("service code not supported").
PDANet and other apps are a mess and don't work well, tbh. Plus App store saying it's unavailable to me, so I'd have to sideload/etc. Rather just have a "clean" solution.
Edit: Sounds like we can flash to U1 however I'm unsure if that will unlock the hotspot?

Unlocked SM-N900T but Mobile Hotspot Is still prevented from functioning freely

Hello, I have a very big issue with my Note 3. I looked into the issue of Mobile Hotspot being restricted even though the phone itself was unlocked through T-Mobile's phone unlocking process.
I really need the mobile hotspot to be used freely since this phone is planned to be used on other countries outside of the United States. In some countries they do not restrict mobile hotspot tethering and you are free to do so just as long as you have the data available. Also this annoys me that in apps like Shareit, I could not use it if I don't have a sim that can use Mobile Data. That screws me up because the app cannot turn on the mobile hotspot.
Would really appreciate help on this very dire situation.
Experiencing countless bootloops already by following that framework-res.apk modding to remove Tethering provision.
Thanks in advance.

A part of your problem can be solved by the free app, Foxit. It turns on the Hotspot for tethering.
I don't know whether the pro version can solve the file sharing while using ShareIt.

Hi. Thanks for the suggestion.
Didn't work. It failed to open it saying the carrier might not allow mobile hotspot.

I've not been around for a while.
I rooted my sm-n900v, unlocked the bootloader, flashed Jasmine 6.1 and voila, the hotspot is unlocked.
See whether you can do same.
Im running stock rom 5.0 rooted and using net 10 service and am able to hot spot to my daughters tablet

Mobile Hotspot (Provision Mod)?

Looking for a mod for the V20 VS995 that allows mobile hotspot to be turned on without the Activation of service message saying to add the feature to your plan. Anyone see this floating around?
A few threads so far on exactly that, and as of now, it does require a rooted device in order to work around it.

So, there is still no way to tether a non-rooted Sprint phone?

If you wonder if it sucks to have 5-6 years of no-hassle tethering then go to 1.5 years of no tether because the root community fragmented out your phone model/build, then you are right, it does suck, a lot.
Never EVER getting a phone with a locked bootloader again. Ever. Jesus why did I get this phone. Sprint wants 10-20$ dollars to use my existing data on another screen? ooo that frosts me.
Please tell me that, no Blakestr, you are wrong. Here is the easy solution. Don't worry if an OTA snuck through your phone, this will still work.
PDA net has not worked at all, it doens't generate an SSID, even though I downloaded the apk from their website. Don't have option to use USB tether (this is for one of those chinese android units (atoto) so I can have internet from my phone when I drive.

I'm pretty sure there is a hotspot hack that works on the current rom.
I'm still on the original rom,
I blocked updates to prevent my hotspot hack being 'fixed' via OTA ROM.
But, I keep seeing threads about hotspot hack after ota updates.
I'm on my phone posting this,
So linking kinda difficult.
Search this GS7+ sprint forum
And the GS7 sprint forum.
This Thead for NON-ROOT methods for root tricks.
This hotspot hack should still work.

This one still works on my S7 Edge with the June 22 update. I believe if your Sprint phone is UICC unlocked by Sprint, you can also edit The APN setting, at least I could after I had them unlock it.
i can confirm the same. My APN section is completely accessible. Is it maybe because I had already modified the radio entries as in the post above? My hotspot is open and my phone is completely unlocked. Strange

Xfinity Pixel 4

I was wondering if anyone had experience the xfinity pixel 4?
Is it Google android or do they have an xfinity specific rom?
Can an xfinity pixel be boot loader unlocked and rooted?
I currently have a Pixel 3 on GoogleFi and am considering switching to xfinity mobile. Any knowledge is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I just played with one in the store but couldn't even get it to open developer options. Idk if it'd because it's in demo mode or what but I did get some other phone there to do it but it wasn't the pixel.
I just got one from xfinity mobile. Its google android rom. no bloatware at all. not sure about rooting and the boot loader yet.

Nice. I'm looking forward to your input if you decide to unlock and root. Can you turn on OEM UNLOCKING under Settingseveloper Options?
I have read that people who have brought there own Pixel to xfinity by using a sim card from another phone have a problem receiving their visual voicemail. I wonder if the xfinity version has a different phone app than the Google version.
im honestly not going to unlock and root. Im happy with how it is. I can not turn on OEM UNLOCKING, i checked. no issues with VVM and the phone app is the google phone app. there is no xfinity apps preinstalled on the phone. its not like the samsung or LG phones. its all google.

Did you find out?
I'm in the process of moving my rooted pixel4xl over to xfinity mobile. The phone was an unlocked ebay purchase and previously on the atnt network, rooted and working fine.
Currently I have swapped SIMs and the phone is on the xfinity mobile (Verizon) network. Phone calls and "text only" text messages work. I'm having issues with data over the mobile network. Text messages work but without images and internet isn't working. MMS messages fail as well. Testing is being done with WiFi off of course.
Re-setting mobile\WiFi under system | reset options did not fix the problem. The mobile network settings (xfinity mobile) works on global or LTE, private DNS doesn't seem to work and the adaptive connectivity setting doesn't seem to matter on or off.
I'm pretty invested in getting this working with the phone being rooted. I'll post more progress here and any solutions I find.
Of course any suggestions are welcome.

Hello all, Sorry for the late reply. Issue was actually just fixed yesterday.
Issue was fixed by doing some RESETS on the phone itself (Reset app preferences and Erase downloaded SIMs) both were ran but I think the real fix was the later.
Phone was a BYOD ported into xfinity mobile (verizon) off the at&t network and it's rooted.
Everything is working as expected now.

Huawei U8730 tethering problems

I have an old Huawei U8730 myTouchQ and had it unlocked a long time ago. Nice device, but only issues now are tethering doesn't work at all. Not USB or Wifi tethering is possible using their firmware. I get a network authorization error that was due to T-Mobile's device CSC. I found some notes that others have used SQLite on some devices to clear the carrier crippling, but still able to turn on the tethering. Any ideas on this rooted device to correct it? Thx.
