Hi there,
Looking into purchasing a head unit and 2 companies came up. AuCAR and ACARNAVI. Both seem to be a bit light on info/review and a bit hard to decide which is better. I've managed to get a screenshot of some of the system info for both units and wondering which I should get.
First screenshot is AuCAR, second is ACARNAVI.
Thanks

Not sure it's helpful, but I noticed that AutoTecPro seems to resell AuCar units and at least they are in the US/Canada space and may be easier to deal with and the prices seemed equivalent. They also had more complete descriptions and usage videos at least for the F-150 model.
The answer actually was: neither
They are made up brands selling various factory units. Welcome to Chinese commerce
Neither of which? They have a Canadian address and work out of there, I'm fully aware the units come from China, but they seems to do installs out of that location and the support has been good, at times reasonable for US. As for AuCar maybe they too sell a brand or brands that are yet from another manufacturer, but I knew far better what the product was and what the install was than other manufacturers because of more complete install and product videos.
This was my this third attempt at a head unit, the first being lame display and wouldn't work in the F-150, the second being TEyes which worked with the truck fine, but constantly kept resetting while in use and the support from China/Russia was abysmal, this time around made sure to talk to them twice before purchasing and while it hasn't been perfect at least I've gotten questions answered and support when a part was missing.

Nothing inherently wrong with products from China tbh. You get what you pay for. Also, not many options for my vehicle given it is produced in low volumes and requires custom wiring harnesses, and has direct interface with steering wheel controls, opening/closing exhaust valves etc etc. Also the head units are mated to custom car trim components etc... You can't really just plop in a random kenwood.. These guys directly develop these - not really a 'made up brand'

I dont say there was a problem with Chinese origin head-units.
I said the comparison bewteen the two made up brands is a false question - they are no different.

No, they sell from a factory, they don't develop anything and they are not real brands, they OEM.
Suggest taking a little time in the Android head unit forums to get an understanding.

Go to AliExpress and find yourself one of these (or equivalent):

Search for "Polo mk4" and make sure the model fits your car.
I would post some links, but as a new member here I am not allowed to yet (spam prevention).
I'd rather spend some extra money and get the newer more "expensive" models, with better prosessor, more RAM and Android 8.0 tho.
These will fit flush in your Polo mk4, no fascia needed.
Happy shopping!
Do u recommend this unit?
I found this u it online seems to be good to me but not proper i to specs an stuff, does this seem like it could last for quite a while an still be alright. I know the octacore is good if the cores are good enough and rgb of ram is great but is the processor good? Also buying from aliexpress an being in the uk will i get custom charges. Thankyou!!

I don't have this unit myself, but a similar one fit for Golf mk6. Very responsive and nice resolution on the screen.
You will have to expect custom charges when ordering from AliExpress, yes. But sometimes the sellers write a lower value on items, somteimes not..
You might want to check out Xtrons, Chinese manufacturer, but they have a UK-based store as well (if you want to avvoid customs). They have a player fit for Polo mk4, but it's £299 tho.
Still, that's cheap considering all the features you get.
You can search on Joying website:www.joyingauto.com,the VW unit is plug and play
Hi, this is a working project that aims to make the chinese idrive knob controller works with any android device. This chinese idrive controller is usually used on 10.25" bmw android head unit and sold by many brands like avin usa, daisata, bonroad and many others.

I know there are already some guide about original bmw idrive (OIC) controller but it has several flaws:
. OIC works with k-can which requires a lot of programming work, expensive boards and it is not user friendly
. you can buy an OIC only used, so the supply are low and the prices fluctuate a lot
.there are different generations of OIC and they are not the same, the existing guides usually work with a specific generation.
Chinese idrive controller (CIC) has some advantage:
.CIC are cheap, i bought mine for 40$ and it fits out the box with my bmw e90 dashboard. the cheapest one I found is sold for 25$
.CIC are made for an android HU so it should be simpler and cheaper to make they work with any android
.CIC are shipped worldwide and you can buy them how much you want at a stable price
My CIC will be delivered in about a month and i will soon disassembly it posting pictures and progress here. I am not a programmer so I am currently searching for other people interested in this topic to help me.
PS yeah, I know CIC is also the name of the bmw navi and it could be confusing for some people.

Are there any updates on this project? I am very interested! ?Thanks.
I thought I would post my experience to date and upcoming experience's as I feel it is important for the next person.
I purchased a Android head unit, specs where advertised as 8 Core processor, 4gb ram and 64gb rom.
received a unit with 4 core processor, 2gb ram and 32gb rom.
I'm told I can only be helped in 4 day's time (happens to be the same day my AliExpress protection period expires as management is unreachable)
As I'm going to give them a chance to fix this problem I think it will benefit all, weather they are trustworthy or just out to scam their customers,
unfortunately I do risk losing money on this as their unit I ordered was double the price of the delivered item.
I will keep all updated as to the honesty of this store, may be a store worth purchasing Our Android Head units from, may not be. we will tell over the next few days.
Will keep this up to date.
The type and factory of the unit is more important than the seller.
Seller usually offers many different factory units.
Ok will what i ordered was the 4gb ram and 64gb rom Variant
Link to shop and unit
what was received was the following

Its a lower spec cpu, but can't tell what it is without posting screenshots of Android System information including much version. The app used misses all the important info.
I Usually recommend asking the seller for screenshots *before* buying, to have some assurance about what can be expected to receive.
It's pot luck otherwise, sellers will often scam buyers, like sending less spec'ed units....
Update so far is that their management will be available in 2 days, they will report the problem to them then, and report back to me.
Ok today my AliExpress protection is over, now I will see if this store is trustworthy.
Ok so far still waiting an Answer only feedback I have received thus far is they are also waiting for an answer to give me.
Tomorrow is one month since reporting the problem and the only answer I receive from this is that they have reported it and are waiting.
Hi! I'm completely new to this as I just bought an old VW transporter that has this brand new, presumably Chinese, presumably Android, car radio device installed.
The documentation is scarce and I don't even have a name or reference for the device anywhere. The only "technical" part they mention is "how to change the boot logo" and they don't even give the proper 4 digits code to perform the change. Haha, I'm far from installing a clean Android on this
Could someone please help me figure out what is the device and guide me to the first steps of "jailbreaking" it? (USB key? Unmountit and plug it to my PC?).
Once I have this, promise, I will find my way on Google and try not to bother you too much
Please find a picture below, with the unique info screen I found.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Just by the looks of it this is ancient.
Looking at 4pda thread - it's Win CE and 7-8 years old. Get a new Android unit.

Thank you!.. even if it is bad news I just paid 160€ extra for it when I bought the car and I can't send it back. What Android unit would you recommend?

First check to see if there are any dedicated units for your car model. A dedicated unit will have the adapter frame and correct wire connectors, making the installation a lot easier.
Second, look for 6 to 8 GB RAM. Currently , the best units use the UIS 7862s octa-core processor and have QLED IPS screens. As for brands, I'd say go for a JOYING unit, they make good units and also have an actual customer support.
I have a choice of two models for my car which integrate nicely.
1. Owtosin official Unit: Owtosin Official Unit link Either with
PX6 with 4GB of ram and 64GB rom (743$ shipped canadian)

or
SD665 6GB of ram and 128GB rom (840$ shipped canadian)
There is also addons (wireless android auto/carplay + 40$, DSP (20$)
Cost is pretty significant for this unit for a Android based unit.
2. Heregoes Unit: Heregoes Unit Link with UIS7862 (8GB of ram and 128GB rom) for 590$ Canadian shipped.
There is a 300$ difference between the two which is significant. No doubt the Owtosin Official unit looks to be higher quality but I am not sure it is worth the difference in price.
1. Can anyone tell me if there will be a significant difference in day to day usage? I don't plan on doing much more than Waze, Spotify and may a DVR in the future with it. No watching movies or playing games here. May even just use Android Auto 90% of the time!)
2. Can anyone comment to the output sound quality? I have the bose sound system in my car which sounds great and am getting the Optical Fiber connector (included in both prices I quoted) and want to make sure I get decent quality sound. Not a snob but wanna make sure my OEM subwoofer etc work which are all part of the Bose system.
3. Can anyone comment to the sound quality of Bluetooth audio calls? I am willing to spend extra to ensure I have GOOD quality bluetooth calls at all times in the car.
4. I plan to connect it to an AHD backup camera. Anything to look out for with this?
5. I can't seem to figure out how many USB connections the UIS7862 based system has. Can I use a USB head one day if needed?
Happy to hear people's responses and see if I am on the right track and make a decision!
Pic of my gf with the car (it's actually her car!!)
Also quick follow up question I noticed.
The lower priced unit comes with TDA7851 and the higher quality unit I can purchase a bu32107efv.
Honestly just using the OEM bose system I think I really won't notice a difference especially since it will be 100% spotify streaming audio!
