Evening,
So I picked up a second hand Xtrons PQS80UNV and I'm fast realizing why it's second hand. While the unit is fast and seems to have even got some form of uprated cooling from the manufacturer, the software is absolutely broken. If the unit auto sleeps, it will come back and most of the time, all of the apps will be broken. Sometimes I experience a rapidly flashing white screen followed by a reboot. Other times I experience a rapidly flashing white screen with no reboot. Other times, it'll just say every app on the device has crashed "xyz keeps stopping" until I reset the device using a paperclip.
All of these issues feel like ROM issues rather than hardware, but they are making the device a complete pile of ****, quite frankly.
Does anyone know if these issues are widespread? If so, how are people fixing them / working around them? I've already uninstalled Chrome and WebView which has resolved a whole host of issues, but this sleep issue is still a real problem and the only solution I currently have is having the device power down after 30 seconds of sleep mode. Not what I want at all
Help anyone?
Thanks
I sent this through to Xtrons Support:

This actually made the device worse!!!! The rapid white screen issue didn't happen before and now the stock Launcher is absolutely b0rked.
With the clock all messed up.
And the icons are now the wrong size.
****ed.
Okay, so I've received another firmware update. This one has at least fixed the b0rked UI. Whether it's also fixed the broken sleep mode, we'll see.
I am not overly bothered about switching to Hal9k if the stock firmware does the trick. Although there are some neat little pros, I want to keep MultiPlay and I can't see how I can on Hal9k.

First going to hal9k you must ensure your unit is compatible with hal9k's. Not all the px6 are compatible....just specific platforms
Thanks. I didn't know this, I'll check extra details. I'm not that bothered about switching. If auto sleep on the stock Rom worked id be fine. I never had these issues on the PX5.
I'm going to see if I can extract the MultiPlay app. Early signs aren't positive with this new firmware.
I'm wondering if it's an issue with later version of Google Play Services?
Another day, no luck
Had a recurrence of the flashing white screen today

You can find the specific firmware for px6 on Hal9kI got a PX6 PQS. Have MOd 5 installed and it works great. Better than stock. All the OTA updates for MOD 5 installed as well. Sleep function and everytrhing else work just great- Just look for firmware PX6 android 10 and you are good to go. Never heard of anything like compatible with HAL9- HAL9 makes modded firmware for ALL Android HU......nothing to do with compability with HAL9. I think you are messing things up, because you don't know what you are talking about.

Hal9k started giving support Only to MTCd units. The support for.other platforms is quite recent.
As the guy that asked for it the best answer is to check compatibility.
Before saying that nonsense about i don't know what I am talking about....do your own checkings.

Hello all,
Just picked up an Android Head Unit and installed it in my 2013 VW CC this week, and I have a few questions that I'm hoping I can get some information on.
I honestly have no idea what Make/Model this unit is for cross-reference purposes. Would love to know how to figure this out in case I'm looking to Root the unit, etc.. My account is new, so I can't post a direct link to the Aliexpress page -- including a screenshot of the sales page of the unit. Not sure if that will shed any light as to the exact model, but I'm assuming there's likely a menu setting I can access showing me exact build to figure it out?

I've seen a LOT of mention of Long Boot times with most if not all of these Android head units, and I've even seen some YouTube vids of this. However, this head unit of mine is "instantly on" as soon as I start the vehicle, with no boot time at all to get into the User Interface. This freaks me out a bit, as it almost makes me think the unit is getting Constant Power and of course destroying my vehicle battery. I've only had the unit installed for one day, so I don't have a long sample size yet... but so far so good without killing the battery. Can anyone shed any light on the "instantly on" behavior, and if that seems normal?
To expand on the "instantly on" behavior. Let's say I have Google Maps running, and I turn the vehicle complete OFF and even remove the key. When I start the car back up, the Google Maps application pops up directly on screen without any interruption. I can't think this is normal, but maybe it is?
I tried to install Google Assistant, and while the App itself installs.... it seems that the device is locked down to a certain permission level, and will not allow Google Assistant to run. Any ideas? Needs Root to run, or possibly something else?
I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, but any input on the above would be greatly appreciated!
I had a similar experience with a mekede unit, about 3 days in it completely drained my battery. Got a mate who's an auto electrician to wire it the the ignition instead.

These units for VW (Audi, Skoda, Seat and some other makes) are supposed to have an adapter to communicate with the car's CAN bus. This provides the unit with certain information and should hut it down properly when the ignition is off. It sounds like you don't have such an adapter and therefore the unit is permanently on
Hi everyone
I have a no-brand unit directly purchased in China. It is a Sofia 3GR, 2GB ram, Android 6.0.1.
It is more or less the same as the Joying unit, for what I saw on this forums.
One day I factory-reset the unit, and the sleep function is gone. I then tried updating the ROM to a Joying ROM (2018-01-10 Android 6.0.1), but still the sleep function is gone.
I tried clean install by wiping all data in the internal storage.
The sleep function is not there even when no other apps are installed (just the stock/system apps), neither not rooted nor rooted.
The unit will shut down after 5-10 seconds when I turned off the ignition. Before I factory reset the unit at the first time, it can stay at sleep for around 2-4 days.
What could I do to make it back? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

One of the first options in the Settings is whether the unit needs to switch off, or go to sleep mode. Did you check that?

I know it is NOT. For what I saw on this forums, all Joying problems/solutions can be applied to my unit. So I just said it is a no-brand but more or less a Joying.
And I guess Joying and my unit are made by the same factory. It is usual in China that many shops are actually selling the same products (with their own brand name) made by the same factory.
And it looks like Joying is one of the popular units here. That’s why I tried to ask if anyone had this problem before on his/her Joying or “no-brand but Joying like” unit. And I hope the same solution can be applied to my unit, or at least I am open to try.

I was originally posting this response in a different thread about this same issue but I lost that thread. Since I came across yours and yours is most recent, I will post my response here.

I know this is sort of raising the Dead, and I'm dictating this so forgive any crazy autocorrect errors, but I just bought an in-dash Android operated stereo/navigation/other stuff for my service truck so I could have navigation available but also be able to check any incoming messages from clients, etc. For what it's worth, I bought it off of "Wish", and to my astonishment it's exactly what I wanted although I had to rewire the dash in my Ford because they have a unique wire harness on this thing.
ANYWAY... This thing is running Android auto although it was advertised for Android 9.1 or something. I hooked it up in my apartment to see if it was going to be a piece of trash but it worked quite well, downloaded apps, etc. Once I spent 2 hours rewiring my dash to interface with this thing, I had this same issue that is being discussed. On top of that, it was flipped vertically as well.
The factory reset option had no effect. The reset button that is supposed to provide a factory reset had no effect. I did find a software setting once I figured out what was happening to reverse the vertical flip. I went into developer options and turned on the visualize screen tap option so I could start figuring out how to get into different parts of the system while tapping in sort of a reversed mode. After I took about five runs at it I eventually found in a locked factory settings area. I switched the option and everything immediately started working correctly. This was NOT in the Android settings, it was in the factory settings for the hardware itself. I do not know what the comparable option would be on a mobile device. There must be a setting option somewhere though.
Just thought I'd share because this was driving me crazy and the only mention I've seen about it when I was searching for a solution was this thread."
I have a photo I tried to include however when I try to upload it I get a security error message. If I can find a way to upload it, I will.

You probably need to post screenshots of your device info page and firmware versions. One though is was this plug and play? or did you have to wire it? If you had to wire it perhaps the one of the power wires is not connected and the device can't keep power to the unit when you turn the car off. These things need access to power to fast boot. Mine has a setting to keep the unit on for a while after shutting car off, but that's not the fastboot option, on mine fast boot is just built in, no settings(that I've seen), which is why it may be hardware or wiring.

everything is wired correctly no extra wires , I contact the seller they told me they basically disable the features so I don't need to mess with it but that's the thing I want to mess with it lol

I guess the question is are they telling you that what you have is normal operation? Seems odd but perhaps they have no Fastboot.

Right and for the most part for most units I would agree with them, but are they saying your unit is designed to cold boot when car is turned off/on?
I'm not sure what they're trying to say I know I've been asking them since May of 2020 about it lol and nothing , I just know like 3-4 of my old androids I had the sleep option ,car settings the extra settings all them other features this one I bought it cause it said it had split screen but only one app opens the split screen which is igo but it closes as soon as I press split screen option and this one also has hdmi put in the back besides it being a 10" because I bought a SUV but it's not working like I want it to , I been thinking of changing like software/mcu I think it is idk . do you think that would be a good option to do ?
I can't speak for what custom firmware options you have, but I can tell you I have no sleep options either, what I have is a single option how long to leave unit active after accessory power is off, but no options for how long to sleep before hard power off. As I understand it most units won't hard power off for several days. I've only seen mine hard boot once when I wasn't pushing the reboot button.

Sorry to say... but: Just use the head unit as it is expected.
There is no need to mirror anything, so voice recognition would not fight in there. Use Google navigation on your head unit as expected, instead of any mirroring.
I really don´t understand why someone uses mirroring on these units....
Issue is in the settings on your phone, not on the head unit.

I am currently using it with shared internet, but it is terribly unstable. It freezes the ipod app, chrome crashes all the time, phone calls are often completely silent and so I have reset the HU.
So mirroring is still much more manageable than the factory software environment of the head unit.
I might try the Hal9k package.

First of all, I would ask the seller for the latest firmware and MCU.
You need to have something as fall back solution, if Hal9k goes wrong.
Be patient to use Hal9k... it is not always the final solution to use it.
