Hey folks, my Dad got a Sansung J500-FN (2016) from his friend and is now having a problem setting it up.
Problem:
He performed a factory reset on the device and now it wont find a network connection during the setup.
After selecting the landuage, it just sits there scanning for available connections and never finds any.
Tried:
Clearing cache and further factory resets (With and without several different SIM cards)
Connecting through WPS (It times out)
Entering the network details manually
The Wi-Fi in the house is bradcasting it's SSID and other devices are connected to it and working without issue.
Question:
Is there anything we can do to get past this stage of the setup or force it to connect?
Would flashing a stock ROM resolve the issue and can this be done via a SD card (USB debugging/Developer options are off as the PC wont detect the device).
The device is completley stock at the moment.
I'm at a bit of a loss as what to try next and seem to be going round in circles trying to find a solution, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't played around with this stuff since my Galaxy ACE
If you need any further infor just let me know.
Cheers

Hi,
The problem may get solved by flashing the latest Firmware!
If you want to flash Official Samsung stock rom /firmware, you have got to use ODIN which works from a windows PC with the mobile connected through USB wire when in the Download Mode ( Recovery Mode>Boot Loader> Download Mode ) & it needs that your device is detected by the PC as an MTP device i.e. it shows in the Computer folder with a mobile icon & files can be transferred between the PC & Mobile when connected. For USB debugging some Samsung USB drivers would be needed to install on the Windows PC but developer mode is not needed on the mobile.
Don't just go ahead but to give you an idea as to what you are going to do in the near future : Update/Flash/Unbrick your device via Odin
1. I suppose you are running Windows 8 or later on the PC. Get to know what is wrong with the PC or Operating System : Try another PC, Try another Operating System, Try another USB port, Try another USB connecting wire. Check whether 'Auto Play' is selected in the Operating System settings. Is it all well in the 'Device Manager' before & after connecting the mobile ? When you connect the mobile to PC, the PC should be connected to the internet. 'Device Installation settings' should be set to automatically install drivers from windows update. ( It would be better if you can make a system image for precaution & install pending windows updates )
2. In which country you are using the device ? Which is the Internet Provider ? Did you try another Wifi services ? What is the usability of the device at the moment : Can You use the mobile data ? What is the CSC of the installed firmware on your device ? ( I am interested Just in the CSC Code! )
Let us know.
Thanks.
Thank you for the reply @LittlePro
1.
The computer is running Winows 10 Build 19043
It is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and this is working as good as it gets in my location.
Autoplay is on (Set to 'Ask me everytime')
Samsung USB drivers are installed and Windows update set to automatically download.
* Swapping ports/cables and trying a different Wi-Fi etc will take time. I am currently confined to bed following a motorcycle accident a couple years ago (Damn Pressure Sores). Next time I'm back in the wheelchair I'll try this and update. It may be due to the port or USB extension I'm using (The PC does detect my Alcatel phone without issues)*
2.
In which country you are using the device ? Portugal
Which is the Internet Provider ? MEO
Did you try another Wifi services ? Not yet, this will take time (See * above)
What is the usability of the device at the moment ?
I can access Recovery/Download modes (Vol Up+Home+Power/Vol Down+Home+Power)
When starting the device normally, It asks me to choose a language and then moves to the 'Scanning for Wi-Fi' screen. It goes no further than this.
Can You use the mobile data ?
After a factory reset there is a popup message asking if I want to turn mobile data on/off. This is set to On, but it doesn't seem to use mobile data.
What is the CSC of the installed firmware on your device
The device was originally in the UK with an EE contract the CSC is - EVR
As soon as I can, I'll try the other suggestions and post an update.
Appreciate the the info, thank you.

That means it is branded. That may be locked to use with EE services. You should look for a firmware for the model : SM-J500FN & Region : TPH
TPH is unbranded firmware for Portugal. My first choice would be that. If you want latest firmware, it comes from Spain unbranded : PHE
The other option may be BTU which is unbranded from UK.
The way to download for me would be either there .That needs membership OR the tool as there.
Let me know.
Thanks. ...
EDIT : It seems MEO from Portugal, PHE from Spain & BTU from UK!
UPDATE:
Managed to get my lazy ass out of this bed, so I was able to check cables/ports.
The USB cable I was using would charge the phone (albeit very slowly) but wouldn't allow data transfer.
Swapped this with another cable and now the PC detects the phone without issue.
I've updated the firmware to the one from spain (PHE). The one from Portugal (TPH) installed the Unbranded firmware for Romania (ROM) for some reason.
Both installed without issue, but I figured if the latest version was the Spanish one, I may aswell use that.
Unfortunately I'm back to the initial problem.
I can select my language and then I'm stuck on the 'Scanning for networks' screen.
There is a new message that appears, saying - An unauthorized attempt has be made to factory reset your device. Please log into your account to verify your identity. Convinced this phone is now just laughing at me lol
I still need to get out of the house to try some other Wi-Fi networks, to see if it just doesn't like my home Wi-Fi
Will update again once this is done or I figure anything else out.
Cheers

The device is connected to a particular Google Account which was previously used on this device. Try flashing CSC instead of CSC_HOME. There are also other options in the ODIN but honestly I am not sure about their consequences!
Let us know.
Thanks. ...
Yeah the unbranded one for Portugal seems to be MEO, so I've installed this one (This also happens to be my ISP)
The device still wont detect a W-Fi network.
At this point, I'm beginning to think that there may be a problem with the device itself.
So I'm currently looking around for something to test this.
All the files I downloaded only had one CSC file in them (There was no CSC_HOME). The current file is -
CSC_MEO_J500FNMEO1BQA1_CL10432640_QB12297267_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
I figured that was what that message meant. If only I could progress to that stage.
Guess I'll keep searching. On the brightside, I'm learning a bit more about phones.

guys,
where I can download the original Samsung Omnia 7 ROM without any mobile carrier customization.
Hi,
Why do you want it? There aren't any carrier customisations apart from the splash screen
serg
There is the small annoyance of the default search in internet explorer not being bing search with some carriers.
Is it possible to change the rom?
Never heard of that before...
my mobile was locked to Three UK carrier and right now I don’t have any problem expect that I cannot send or receive MMS. I though maybe the MMS is been locked to the carrier.
Also, I want to get ride out of the slash logo in the beginning..
Yes it's possible to flash a diffrent ROM (I have flashed my H3G provided phone with a T-mobile branded version, this was the only working ROM I could find).
One reason besides getting bing search would be to be able to run the Samsung Network Profile app from the Marketplace.

Where did you find the t-mobile ROM? is there a 3g/2g toggle now?
on www.samfirmware.com or just google I8700DTMJJ6 for alternatives.
There's a use 3G connection when available option under settings >> cellular but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.
Could there be some problems if the Omnia 7 is locked from the provider when flashing this specific samsung firmware ?
I'd like to try it but don't want to brick my device (o:

I've had mine unlocked (it was bought as Three UK) and when I go to diagnosis menu it says everything is unlocked:
lock status menu - all DISABLED
network lock - DISABLED

SP LOCK: DISABLED
CP LOCK: DISABLED
Still - I cannot use SAMSUNG's network profile changer and my mms are not working ;-(
just flashed my Omnia 7 to I8700DTMJJ6. Although my Omnia 7 is not from that region but so far everything is working fine.

please explain more,
how did you do it?
where are you from and was your mobile lock to a carrier before your flashed ?
As far as I'm concerned, mine is Orange (fr) locked and was on JJ4. I flashed it with DTMJJ6 (T-online) and all works fine (except 3G wich needed the net profil app to work perfectly).

First of all my device is from singtel, Singapore and its official unlocked. I am from Malaysia and bought this phone from Singapore. there are only 2 firmware available from samfirmware.com
However, only tmjj6 is flashable. I followed the user guide. Make sure Samsung USB driver is installed prior to the below steps.
1. Unzip/unrar the downloaded jj6 with password "samfirmware.com"
2. Make sure your phone is not locked to carrier (sorry for those locked phone). Switch off your phone and make sure is unplug from PC.
3. Launch the flash tool, then select all the unzipped file, drag and drop it into the flash tool. It will then auto load up the necessary files.
4. Hold volume up+home button+power button
5. The moment the phone powered up, let go all the buttons, it will then boot into download mode.
6. Plug your phone to PC, your PC will detect your phone and install USB driver accordingly.
7. If drivers are installed, you will notice the flash tool detected your phone. Hit the start button and that's it, wait till everything is ready then you can unplug the cable.

Hello, I'm having problems rooting my s4 i9505 v4.4.2
I would try and install a different version than the one I had on my phone but this did not go as I thought.
I used Odin v3.07 and try me out, but something went wrong I did not finish what I was doing, and will now cancel all together.
Now comes my problem. When I turn on the phone (after empty battery) comes into download mode. If I use the phone, I only use it in Safe Mode.
Could you be so kind and help me to make my phone back to normal? What do I need to do. I am using android 4.4.2.
My phone must be switched off in mist 15 hours before it turns on "normal" (with all apps) Trying to connect it to Odin again, but what must I do to get your phone back to normal mode?
Excuse my English, but googgle translator is my friend now

flash stock firmware 4.4.2 via odin. you can not downgrade to 4.3 or to 4.2.2 because of the new bootloader
if you want to root go here http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip, scroll down and click on CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip. Unzip it and flash it via odin as ap. flash root after you flashed stock 4.4.2 firmware
Hello, and thanks for a answer
I have not installed 4.4.2 on my phone. This version was upgraded by samsung its server. (original) for a good while ago
My phone was put into download mode AFTER I tried to install a different operating system via Odin.
so my question is: How can I disable the download mode on my phone?
( I don`t know how I use Odin ) Who should I choose: Bootloader, PDA, Phone or CSC ?
Best regards from Norway

Good Lord, have mercy....
So, in post #1, you have stated that you used Odin... in post #3 you are telling us that you do not know how to use it...
OK...go here, pick your preferred stock ROM (from 4.2.2 options). It will lead you to download page, which contains a short but good instruction, answering your question what to flash as well.
And, DO NOT interrupt the flashing process.

I know but if the server (I think you mean OTA) updated it to 4.4.2, odin will fail to flash 4.3 or 4.2.2 so download 4.4.2 firmware and flash it via odin as pda.
Go to settings->more tab->Device Information-> Press home + power buttong. it will take screenshot.
plug in usb cable to pc and to galaxy s4
go to internal storage-> screenshots upload it here so we can see which version you have
Hello
Ok .... sorry. I tried using Odin, but could obviously not, since the phone is in download mode.
I do NOT want to install anything. Just want back my old phone as it was. Then again. How do I disable download mode?
Do I need to install anything on the phone.... to get it back to normal startup .... WITHOUT download mode?

IF your phone boots to download mode, it usually means: corrupted update of ROM or not completed update. This means: currently there is no operational ROM on your phone, sorry.
Furthermore, you CANNOT use Odin WITHOUT going to download mode. To use Odin, you MUST set your phone to that status.
Now, going to your situation:
You have two options:
1. when phone is in download mode, download and install Samsung KIES to your PC, connect phone and follow the procedure. It will most lokely download and install the latest firmware available for your phone.
2. Go to mentioned by me earlier page, download manually firmware of your choice, and follow the instructions there.
NO OTHER OPTIONS.
Hello
I have installed KIES, there are no updates available
also .... KIES do not get contact the phone when it is in download mode.( I try that now )
Sorry that I ask, but what is ROM? is the operating system android 4.4.2?
ps: you say: Furthermore, you CANNOT use Odin WITHOUT going to download mode. To use Odin, you MUST set your phone to that status.
I can not connect to Odin when I put my phone in download mode.

1. Yes, ROM is operating system. no, it is not necessarily the 4.4.2 version.
2. Odin shall see your phone if you'll connect it to PC. On PC: start task manager (using Ctrl+alt+Del), go to processes and kill everything with KIES in name. Then start Odin, then connect the phone, wait approx 20-30 secs and make the screenshot from PC. Put it here.
3. I did not asked you to perform the update, but to perform emergency recovery according to this procedure (may slightly vary depending from the KIES version.
However, if the phone is not visible on your PC by KIES and by Odin, it is something wrong more deeply... Connect the phone to PC, go to device manager and take a look if it is visible there (like samsung phone, android phone/device or adb device).
IF your phone is not visible by PC (assuming that the Samsung drivers are installed correctly on your PC, it shall be installed with KIES), you may have to go to the service center as your only available option.
You may try the JTAG option (use Google to look for it), but it is too complicated for newbie, sorry.
PS: sorry, for me it is obvious, but may be not so obvious for you: battery shall be above 60% while starting connection to pc in download mode. I'd recommend you to charge it fully on phone turned off, then start checking connections.
ok
So just to summarize:
You have no idea how to use Odin, yet you decide to flash your phone?
You don't have any backups?? That's the number 1 rule to do.
What rom did you try to flash? Did the flashing succeed? Or didn't you flash any rom, but where you just trying to root it?
For two weeks, my Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F has no signals. It keeps showing No Service, I can't receive calls/messages at all.
I have used Smart Tutor to contact Samsung, their engineer reset the system (maybe), but couldn't make it work. Then I sent the phone back to UK service centre, they sent it back to me quickly with doing anything --just because my phone is not in European warranty. :crying:
The details of the phone:
IMEI is right, fireware is Country: Hong Kong, PDA: G900FZHU1BOA1,
From I have read, it seems like the Radio was turned off. But I don't know how to turn it on.
I tried to enter Service mode by dialing code *#*#4636#*#* but it didn't work for me.
I can get into ServiceMode by code *#0011# but I don't know what to do next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can do that by reading the stickies like everyone else does instead of expecting that someone else will do it for you.
same here in 3 different devices...
The same happened to mine and my wife's devices. Since last Saturday I rooted them both, load 4.4.4, then ulgrade them to 5.0... downgrade them again. Tried flas modem a d flash radio. Seems nothing is working. Both are g900h. And today just realized that my cousin's g900f just have the same issue since friday. How can I know the date of the automatic installed updates... maybe some update cause this?
Also tried shortcut master to enter the secref codes with super user... no code is working...
The signal just comes and go every 5 mi utes. Sometime I can make a phone call but it crashed like 1 minute after I made it. Lazy data signal.
What else do you guys reccomend?
Hi I have my friends Galaxy S5 Neo and he done a factory reset and its ended up now showing Unauthorised Reset I have reflashed the latest software 6.0.1 with odin3 v3.13 with success but after this its still showing the Unauthorised Reset then I reflashed it with 5.1.1 with success and is still the same showing the Unauthorised Reset when it reboots and looks for the internet to get the gmail or Samsung info but says no internet connection, even though I have added my wireless key into the wifi network setting which showed connected
Do I need the PDA or the CSC firmware version for this phone
really grateful for any advise to get this back up and running for him
many thanks in advance
Once you flashed the firmware via odin did you go to recovery mode and perform a data wipe/factory reset?
guys , I'm at i don't know what the @%#%$ to do. I just bought this phone online and it is for locked . I am having the same issue, I factory reset and everything , but when it goes to connect to wifi or data. It never does it just keeps spinning and spinning never connects. Plz help. The old owner has given me his email and password to get past the FRP but I can not due to the fact I can't get past the connection part
I had this as well. I bought an S5 (not Neo) from eBay with that reported message (which the seller acknowledged up front)
Several fixes were available on YouTube, Google, and the rest. They all supposedly work on the principle of spoofing the phone to get past the lack of a browser, from which you can correct things.
None of those worked for me.
In the end, I had to prepare a USB stick with some recovery sofware on and boot the phone from that, which runs a custom APK to get you back to normal.
I know this is an old thread, but if you want, I'll try and find the information on the custom App on a stick.
PS. You will need a USBOTG cable, to be able to plug in the usb stick (or one with dual ports).

Hi all,
So my J7 2017 (SM-J730FZKDLUX) basically soft-bricked itself after an official update. Everything on this phone is stock and I never installed anything suspicious on it either.
The current situation is as follows:
Booting the phone normally doesn't work as it gets stuck on the first Android/Samsung screen.
Recovery and safe modes don't work at all: nothing happens.
Download/Odin mode works.
Samsung Smart Switch says my device is not supported while it's supposed to be...
Samsung Kies does not want to start on my PC and says "Update in progress. Unable to run Kies".
Even though it is still under the standard warranty, I've been told I would have to pay for the screen to be changed since the current screen has a scratch on it...
Since Download mode works, I've tried flashing the phone by following this guide from SAMmobile (https :// www(d0t)sammobile(d0t)com/firmwares/galaxy-j7/SM-J730F/LUX/download/J730FXXU3BRL3/247119/) as well as this guide from updato (https :// updato(d0t)com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0E6D53429C5B11E89F15FA163EE8F90B).
Both result in Odin getting stuck on the "Initialzation" phase. I've searched on the Internet and people said to remove the SD card (I don't have one in that phone), remove the battery (impossible), use a different USB port (tried all of them), be quick (I click on the "Start" button as soon as the phone is "Added" in Odin), enable Debugging mode (well... I can't boot the phone...), make sure to install the Samsung drivers (done from https :// developer(d0t)samsung(d0t)com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows (official Samsung site), but that didn't change anything), using an older version of Odin (but which am I supposed to use? There are tens of them), make sure that Kies is not running at the same time as Odin (Kies was not even installed at the time), running Odin as admin (this is actually required otherwise it doesn't get passed the "SetupConnection" step unless I'm quick enough), use the original USB cable the phone came with (impossible, it was destroyed by my dog however the cable I'm using fits well in the USB port of phone)...
So what am I doing wrong? What can I do? Please help me!
PS: You'll note that my links are a bit weird, it's because I'm new to xda, sorry about that.

You should use the latest odin (3.13.1) and use an official samsung USB cable if possible. Not all cables (although it fits) are wired the same.
If the problem is hardware related at least you have warranty.

Hi all,
So my J7 2017 (SM-J730FZKDLUX) basically soft-bricked itself after an official update.
