Just got Mi A1 today and it says an update is available. I thought it was the Oreo update they announced a few days earlier but it's not. They call it "Transition version for Android O".
Reading here and on Xiaomi forums I found out that both this update and Oreo have a lot of problems so now I don't know what to do? Install this update or wait for a stable 8.0 version?
I didn't have any problems with the update you mention.
I'm also not having any problems with Oreo.
You won't be getting the update to Oreo that everyone else updated to, it's been pulled so you would end up with this December update, then would have to wait for the next Oreo update.

yes oreo is not stable.
I don't understand why 1GB update is needed to go from Android 7.1.2 to 7.1.2 again with just this changelog:
1. D2Acontinuous annoying sharp Sound problem in A1
2. D2A is transferred to 112 when the local emergency number is called in the Czech Republic
3. Transition version for Android O

The current 8.0 stable version is absolutely fine for me. Till now did not faced any issues. After update i did a factory reset.... Works fine. For me 100% better than Nougat

Same here. No issues at all apart from the well known Bluetooth battery statistics issue. I didn't do factory reset after the upgrade.
No issues with Oreo, works as good as Nougat did!
Only a minor cosmetic issue with battery stats.
We do have some problems after the update to Oreo, like Mi remote not working in India
Swiping the fingerprint sensor for getting status bar is not working etc

Yes, you should absolutely install 7.12.19 as it is a security update. This is still Android Nougat (version 7).
The update is stable on my phone and actually improved some performance aspects (e.g. the time lag of the fingerprint reader is gone).
For Android Oreo (version 8) you should absolutely wait another month or two.

In my opinion, wait for fixing updates release..
You are taking the risk for getting some annoying bugs with 8.0 version.

I got this phone from so called Lenovo "Official" Store on Aliexpress, like most of the ppl. It came with this crappy Global Rom which is super badly optimised. I heard that some ppl do get some updates, but stragnely i got none so far? anyone knows the issue? I contacted with the store and they are not helping at all, writing some random craps i dont understand. I asked them why havent I got any updates so far and they replied "dear, you can search the link in the internet."
Cheers,

global rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-l78051-qpst-edl-t3947149/page11#post80073918
Does
Does this have an dutch/Netherlands language option
We are many now to believe best option is to move to Stock Chinese official ROM, tweak it a little, add google play store...
It has a couple of issues, but overall very stable and better then Global alternative.

Hi,
I bought a MI 9T few days ago from Amazon, I'm from Italy and the announcement said "global version", but I received a russian version instead…
No problems configuring it in my language and so on, but my system now is Android 9, MIUI 10.3.10.0 PFJRUXM, security patch 2019-07-01. No updates available, it says...
Searching around I've found that Global and UE versions can be updated to Android 10/MIUI 11, but there seems to be no updates for Russian yet.
Can you please confirm that?
Someon knows why (I don't think there are hardware differences, right?) and if the update will be available soon for Russian model too?
Otherwise, is there a simple way to force the update using Global or UE ROMs?
Or I better return the phone to Amazon…

Thank you for the asnwer, but i think the recovery firmware you linked is for Mi 9, not Mi 9T.
And the other one is the ROM I have already (but I don't know why the site says MIUI 11)

Sorry, yes, I overlooked that 11.0.3.0 is for Mi 9 (without T)
Then, you can see from that both sites that yours is the latest RU version released
Hi! I've the same problem that you have.
I've found the latest Russia Stable ROM with MIui 11, but still on Android 9. Anyway it's better than the MIui 10. I think we'll get the Android 10 version this or next month, don't worry.
Download (just delete the * in the link bellow)
https*://c.mi.com/thread-2930918-1-0.html
Same problem. Really odd
Ok, so today i downloaded and manually installed v 11.0.3.0, with MIUI 11 but still on Android 9 (as elstylon said) and security patch 2019-10-01.
That's the latest, at present. Hope To receive Android 10 soon...
Still I can't understand why RU models receive less updates than other versions, and always later!
(because I don't think there's any difference between Global, EEA and Russia ROMs...)
Same problem still miui 10.3.1
Hi, same problem here. Still on miui 10.3.1
Zelig where you got miui 11.0.3 for russia Mi 9t? From elstylon post? From OTA Update?
You update with choose package manually?

There are no big news, to be honest, but in my opinion it is always worth updating, when you can (bugfixes, security patch...).

I haven't used it much before updating, so I may be wrong, but to me it looks the same...

Android 10
Security patch 2020-02-01

There definitely is a difference, the global version is pretty much worldwide, the EEA version is more more for the European market, Also is Widevine L1 for streaming netflix, Amazon etc... In full had. I believe the EEA models were created with the options to completely turn of ads and bloat, also complies with gdpr regulations. The Russian one I found really like the global but updates are much slower, mine came shipped with EEA. Also you can change this with unlocking the bootloader, flashing the desired rom and relocking again. Download all roms from mifirm.net
Conversion between RUX, MIX and EUX is posible without unlocking bootloader...
Here is Russian guide, use translator, is short and with pictures...

Hello, I have updated my max pro m2 to latest version provided by asus. However, i have came across various telegram groups claiming that the latest update is creating problems and device is getting stuck into bootloop. Some are stating it as a buggy update and some are saying it is caused by problem in motherboard. Can i get some insight in this matter. If this is caused by the software then what should I do now as i have already updated. Should i switch to any custom rom?

Yess, we have seen around 20+ cases in which devices were bricked, the device stuck at splash logo, and flashing through fastboot mode is also restricted.
I would recommend you to switch to custom roms, or use stock version 072 or previous ones.
Most of the user's had the same 073 stock rom who faced this.
Mine one also got same problem this morning but it is able to go to recovery mode. so should i attempt factory reset from there first or directly go for flashing the rom into it.
Hi all m3 users,
Planning to Take POCO m3 6gb variant as a primary device . But read many post about the dead boot issue after update .
So is it happening to all ? What if i did not update any other 12.0 versions from stock version and wait till 12.5 stable to get released.
Only cons about m3 i understand was Stock Camera and was planning to put Gcam. Other than that phone has VFM factor for 12k. [Currently using redmi3s prime] .. Planning to keep it for a long term and not for gaming office use .
So cant tolerate the reboot or dead issue even for a day ..
Thank You
If I'm not mistaken, the deadboots are caused by hardware issue - something related to a chip inside . I don't think updates directly cause deadboots; they are probably just coincidence. (I'm not an expert on this, so don't take my word for it.)
Personally, I've had my M3 for almost 3 months, flashed roms many times and no deadboot. That said, flashing roms does come with risks which we accept if we choose to customize our phones.
About waiting for 12.5 stable. You definitely can do this for custom roms. For official roms, I don't know if they allow skipping versions, or if they require incremental updates. You'll just have to try when 12.5 comes out.

Thank you. Also read its a h/w thing..bt.most cases issue comes after udpate and poco said its was due to memory related code in firmware udpate which is pushed along with os udpate.
Ya i know till 12.0.9 its incremental updated.
Thought 12.5 is a major update on A11. So it will be completely new..

Ah, I wasn't aware of Poco announcement about the memory issue.
My phone came with OS version 12.0.8.0 (QJFMIXM), then I updated to 12.0.9 using the official updater. I never got the deadboot problem. So either the problem was with previous versions, or I was just lucky.

No, I'm from Philippines.
No major connectivity issues for me, but I noticed wifi reception was slightly weaker than my previous phones.
You might want to try the telegram group. Most issues and fixes are there.
