Last night my battery completely drained so I charged it over night and when I went to power it on it says booting WPH go go go, boots to the HTC green logo screen and powers off. I have been running WP7 flawlessly for 3 weeks now and have not had this problem before. I don't really want to reflash right now because I'm hoping there's a way to salvage everything in the phone.
Are you sure the battery charged last night...reason I ask is...when it completely drains the battery wont charge when the phone is off due to Magldr.
Yeah, it's off the charger right now and it just keeps powering off after the HTC logo
same exact thing just happened to me. I'm going to start from scratch and redo it.
I am curious to know as to what caused this, it's very odd since the ROM has been working flawlessly.
your not restarting with usb cable attached are you?
how did you charge your battery? external charger?
there is some talk that charging in magldr usb flasher mode works dispite no status lights BUT its unclear if the battery controller will auto cut off when full, overcharging could shag your battery
oh a while back i had some odd restart issue too, pretty much as you have mentioned, happened 4 times in a row then worked
Help me too!!!
Me as well, about an hour ago, my battery drained, so I plugged it in, and the phone keeps restarting, but then powers off...
I've kept it on the AC for the past hour, and now it no longer hit's the magldr, it just flashes the screen black, then dies...
Is there a way to JUST CHARGE my battery? Without having it in the phone?
too bad you didnt seach for this issue, i wrote a nice piece that would have got you out of that mess if you hadnt kept restarting it, oh well never mind,
if you cant even get to magldr then your looking at an external charger, you could try connecting up an old usb cable directly to the battery but be very careful!
This happened to my old HD2 after I gave it to my sister once I got my HD7, to enable it to charge again all I did was remove cable, remove battery. Re-insert battery and attach cable, hold down the volume down button on the side of the handset and press the power button.
The phone will turn on and show the tri-color screen. Leave it on this screen for 20 minutes and the battery will charge, then simply reboot and you will be able to boot back in to Windows Phone 7.

Thanks for that tip...I am going to remember it in-case I one day run into the same problem
Hi.
*I have read all 16 pages of the forum, and haven`t find any solution for my issue.
Have rooted with TouchNooter 2.1.31. Could not log into Youtube(error 401) and decided to go back to stock.
For that I did standard Erase&Unregister and then used recovery image from thread (n2T-Recovery_0.2.rar)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289233.
Recovery went well. Got my nook back to stock 1.0.1 version.
Then I wrote nook_1_1_update.zip to nook`s partition and waited till it reboot and begin to install.
When the message "...Install is in progress do not power off..." appeared I went to sleep.
In the morning I found still the same screen and device not responding to anything.
I thought that maybe it discharged and have plugged it into USB, message appeared that "charge is in progress". After around 15 minutes I tried to power it on, but got message "...power is to low wait 15 min...". I left it plugged in and went to work. When I came back the charge led baecame green, but still the message "wait 15 min"
Now I`m here. Have tried all the buttons and times combinations suggested to bring it on but still nothing...
Thaks in advance for any help.
PS have no backup images

Does it try to reboot when you long press the power button? (10-15s)
No matter how long I press, nothing happens, at all.
When I connect it to PC there`s some new device blinking in "Devices and Printers(Win7)" something like OMAP3630

I'm putting my money on it being entirely out of power
When you have it plugged on the charger, does the led go orange, and does the led go green for a few seconds when you try to reboot it?
In the morning it was orange when I plugged in so I decided it is discharged and left the device for day. Now the led is green(when plugged to usb) and does not change.

Charging from USB can be very unreliable, use the charger.
In fact my NST is in the same state as yours right now because I left it in a half-booted state last night
My screen is blank and the only reaction I get is a small flicker on the LED and a tiny visit by the OMAP device
I know from experience that trying to charge it from my USB hub will not work, or take days, but if I use the charger it will wake up in about 20 minutes.
Arrr, havent ordered the charger >_<
Wait... I have connected it to my note and led is orange now, so the charge process is going on. Ill wait a while, maybe it`ll get some charge to boot.
Thanks for support ros!
...UPD While I was wrighting this the display reacted, now it indicates the charging process. Thanks again

Uhm, did it come without a charger?
Mine came with one although it was useless to me as I live in Norway, it kinda doesn't fit the sockets we have over here
I just use the charger for my mobile phone, it can deliver a lot more than my crappy USB hub
It now comes only with usb-cable, without charger. I live in Ukraine so saw no need to order charger too.
After 20 minutes still battery too low. Is there a possibility that I could damage the battery in some way?

I killed mine a few days ago, and it took about an hour until it was ready to pull up. Just give it time.

Like Googie says, just give it time.
Mine usually awakes after 20min on my charger, trough a USB port it might take a lot longer depending on the device you're charging from.
And no, your battery is not in danger.
Agreed. When it gets completely drained it can sometimes take 20 minutes or an hour sometimes I've noticed even longer before I could get mine to start properly. The major issue though here will be if it stopped in the middle of an install you might need to use n2T-Recovery_0.2.rar to get it to properly boot before trying to update again.

Alex,
Charger is included always, even with refurbished Nook.
It's 100-240AC, 50/60Hz.
You need is US/Euro adapter only (not transformer), cost $0.5.
After the night of charging form my notebook`s USB its alive and fine. Firmware upgrade went well. I was reading all the way to work

I bought another NST during Thanksgiving @ Target. Didn’t even notice missing charger until now
Hi all, my note 3 just died in a strange way.
2 hours ago i it was working in the train. When i got home it was about 10%. Took it out once while smoking and put it back charging again. Half an hour ago i turned on the screen to see if i got any messages. Turned of the screen again. Half an hour later i wanted to check again, but the phone was off.
It wont turn on anymore. Tried my second battery, not working. Checked my usb cable, it was charging my external battery.
After this i plugged the phone in to charge again to see what would happen. I dont see any battery icon in the screen, the led is also not working. The battery feels cold. But the area around the camera is pretty hot. Still won't do nothing.
Has anyone any idea what this unexpected dead is about? Not rooted, not wet, not dropped, like i said, i was checking my messages half an hour ago while it was charging.

Yes, it is not reacting to anything. I thought maybe the power button is bricked, but that would not explain why it is not showing the battery logo and led light while charging.

Plugged usb cable into my laptop, took out battery, connected phone to cable, tried recovery and power, both not working. The upper area of the phone gets hot though. So the laptop is giving power to it i guess.
Think warranty mate sorry shouldn't be get hot

Ok thanks, what a shame.
Any technical people who might have know what caused it? Could it be a power shortcut or some kind of malware in the background? It's a really stupid death.
Mine did this
Was only 2 weeks old.
Took it back to the shop, and got it replaced.
It wouldnt charge even with the phone off
Common fault with them
similar thing happened to my wifes s2 turned out to be the motherboard
I have visited a support center. They told me the battery was giving 4.2 Volt to the phone instead of 3.8 Volt. So the phone and the battery are both broke. He told me this doesn't happen often.
Hello.
When I try to turn on my N4, I hold power button, and after about 10 seconds Red light blinks (just once, if it's connected to USB that 1 blink last for 3 seconds, if connected to wall, it's just quick 1 blink. If it not connected anywhere there is no action at all, it just stays dead, no blinks, nothing). Same if I try to go in bootloader by holding volume down+power.
This happened after I successfully installed CM12, with no errors. Then I rebooted my phone, and it just stayed black as it is now. Battery was around 25~30% that time, and phone was connected to USB.
Did I bricked my phone totally? I am now trying to charge it up already for 1 hour... but it nothing changes.
I have searched here for similar problems, but couldn't find solution...
Edit: Charging already for 10h+ , still same..
Edit2: I removed battery, reconnected after a while, still same problem.
So I tested it with multimeter, it says 2.6V, but fully charged must be 3.8V. Could this be a problem? I was charging it for whole night.
Edit3: I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...
When I connect to PC usb, there are unrecognized deviced called "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
easy fix
Hold down the power button and the volume down button at the same time until phone reboots. If you see the little android no need to worry just let go and wait for your device to reboot on its own. This is not a factory reset it's just like restarting your device. :good:

I had the same problem a year ago, I tried to remove the battery, charging all night, and other solutions that I found online and no one worked.
Finally I found here in XDA a user with the same problem and his solution was charger the phone with a wireless charger, a friend of mine has one and I put the phone to charge and after a few minutes the screen goes on and the phone was charged, then I press power button and the nexus run again.
Hope this works.
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain.
Good luck.
(I bought a wireless charger in case it happen again)
I don't know anyone with wireless charger. I already ordered a new battery, and then I probably will get wireless charger also. Ty.
But this problem is very weird if you think so.. I think it happened because of many aspects together:
1) Battery was already below 30%
2) I pretty regularly charge phone with USB (won't do it again)
3) It was connected to PC USB in same time.
4) I installed CM12 ROM in same time
So main reason I think is USB, that I restarted phone while it was on pretty low battery and with USB connected.. phone restarted and got invalid voltages and couldn't even boot up or charge phone. I also found an article which says, minimum voltage, when phone battery has 0%, it's 3.0V, so I was below that.. it just screwed everything and battery died. Well, I am not sure for 100% that it's battery fault, but I hope so, I really love my N4 and still wanna use it for long time, I hope it's not dead phone, just a dead battery. Lets see! I will update this thread , when I get my new battery (less than month probably).
Sorry, my english is also not perfect. I am from Latvia.
I was playing when it happened to me. The phone was very very hot and the battery was around 70%. When I put in the wireless charged and I can reboot the phone the battery was at 65%, so it had charge but the phone won't boot.
I charge my phone almost every day, sometimes with AC, others with USB (plugging to PC) or wireless that depends of my needs
I hope you can fix it. Good luck.
Btw. Do you know if battery charges with wireless charger, if it's removed from the phone?
Don't think it does, since the receiving coils for wireless charging are located just behind the glass back.

Major Issue Google
This "Nexus SOD" issue is showing up on many sites across the Internet. I have multiple "Nexus" devices including 2 Nexus 4, 1 Nexus 5, 2 "Nexus 7 2013". It suddenly started out of the blue with one of my Nexus 4 phones. Symptoms included rapid battery discharge. I am using Lollipop 5.1 on all devices. There are many claims as to the cause, Hardware Motherboard, Power Button etc. Others claim it is "Software Related" or App Related. The problem effects Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 phones. I have ordered a new motherboard for my nexus 4 device and see if that makes a difference.
This problem should warrant a "Major Android Lollipop Crisis Team" by Google to investigate the cause and let us know what it is and what Google is doing to solve the problem before moving to announce "Android M". This issue needs to brought up and actively pursued at the upcoming "Google I/O Conference" by the strong Android Developers Groups to press for "Formal Action"

I had this problem a long time ago and my fix worked for me after doing a little research it seems like this is a case called battery total discharge. The fix was simply to charge your phone using the wall adapter that came with your phone (I still use my old apple cube wall thing) and to wait for the red light to appear then wait about ten minutes before trying to reboot.
I just got new battery . But it looks the same.. phone doesn't boot up.. same red light blinks once.. so.. its my phone is dead? I can't believe that...

Just tried booting without battery, and connecting to wall. Same - red light blinks once, after I hold Power button or Power+Volume down for about 15 seconds. If I keep buttons pressed, it just repeats every ~15 seconds.
Power buttons works fine.
After I checked that Device manager thing in google.. it looks very bad.. phone is dead.. probably need to change motherboard. I am just shocked, how this could happen... I didn't receive any errors during CM12 installation. Phone just instantly died after restart.
Hello,
I'm new t this forum do sorry if wrong category or something else.
Let me get to the point. Today I wanted to replace the battery on my G2 because the old one was draining really fast. I bought a brand new battery and I removed the old one and plugged the new one in. I reboot the phone and it boots up to the pin entry screen and it says Battery 0% too low to continue and the device will power off. I tried to charge it but when i plug in the charger the phone tries to turn on but kinda lags on the boot animation, it takes a really long time for it too boot up, but without the charger it turns on, gets to the pin entry screen and it turns off. I tried a few adapters, a few USB cables, even tried putting in the old battery but the same happens, I tried charging it form a PC, nothing. I got in the recovery, tried a reset, nothing. Please help. Do i need a new motherboard or what?
Thanks
