Need Help Finding Firmware Build and Updating My Android Head Unit - Android Head-Units

So I got a head unit around last year for my BMW 125i (2014) and I had some issues with it I would really like to iron out. So the autolink app doesn't display in full screen, rather in a cropped resolution and I could not manage to fix. The unit firmware itself is rather clunky and slow to boot and navigate, and what makes it even harder is I can't find the spec sheet, other than what I was told by the seller. Specs are as listed:
-Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU (4-core)
- DDR3 2GB RAM
-32GB ROM
Here's the link I managed to track it down to

Advice on these two head units.

I'm looking to buy something that actually fits my vehicle. (2008 Suzuki SX4). I already have one of the first Chinese pure android head units in the car. I just need to upgrade(it only has 128mb of storage for the OS and applications and 512MB of RAM. I bought it at Chinavasion back in 2012.
https://www chinavasion com/china/wholesale/Car_DVD_Players/Android_Car_DVD_Player/Road_Droid-Android_2.3_Car_DVD_with_6.2_Inch_Touchscreen_DVB-T_GPS_3G_WIFI
It was plagued by a completely unusable bluetooth mic for making and receiving phone calls. The next one I buy MUST be able to do handsfree phone.
I have 2 different devices in my sights. I don't know if anyone has ever seen or used one and I'm just looking for advice.
I would prefer to get the cheaper of the two because they both have similar specs as far as I can see.
Since I am unable to post links, I guess I'll put my faith in you and see if you'll actually search aliexpress for these terms and help me out.

What's wrong with Xtrons?

Hi all, first time member here - sorry for any dumb questions.
I'm looking at getting my first android head unit. I don't have much criteria, but here is the list;
- 7" double DIN
- snappy boot time (2 - 3 seconds before playing music)
- nice looking - physically (don't like the joying logo or inset/bezel), and software (prefer the look of the latest android)
- video in for pi or dash cam
- bluetooth for calling and maps data (waze, etc). Or should i be looking at wifi tether?
At first, my research lead me to the following Xtrons units (basically searching whats popular on ebay);
- TB706PL (Octa-core RK3368 PX5, Android 6.0)
- TA701PL (Quad-core RK3188 PX3, Android 7.1)
- TL702P (Quad-core Intel Atom x86, Android 6.0)
Questions:
1. I've read a lot of posts on this site steering people to Joying HUs. Whats wrong with the Xtrons HUs?
2. Is the PX5 a big deal? Is octa core overkill for HUs? (I'm currently leaning to the PX3 over the PX5 due to later Android.)
3. Are all these units rootable?
4. Is there a likelihood of being able to upgrade the Android version of all of the head units in the future?
Thanks everyone!
Joying is the brand with the greatest hacker support.
You don't need to buy the UM135 with deep plastic bezel. You can also buy UM128, which is all glass.
Yes, it has a joying logo on the front too.
PX5 may have an 8 core SoC, but they are 8 SUPER WEAK SLOW TURDS. They are badly implemented A53's. So don't for ONE SECOND thing that you're getting something on the same level as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. You're looking at several orders of magnitude between the 8 turds and the 8 custom A73's in the QC.
Of all the CPUs available for car radios, the INTEL quad-core is the strongest. Ignore benchmarks, its a totally different architecture that you CANNOT compare with synthetic benchmarks.
As far as upgrade android version, Joying with Intel CPU is probably the most likely one for being able to upgrade to AOSP8.
i've never had an Xtrons. I have had Joying, Dasaita, and Seicane.
All have their pros and cons. The Joying definitely ran the best, and had the most updates, but it ran too hot and fried itself. Joying did replace it, which was cool.
However, i wanted something Jeep specific with a big screen, which Joying doesn't make, so I moved on to Dasaita with Android 6.0 and PX5:
https://youtu.be/ITCawVbBL7g
And i got the Seicane with Android 7.1.2 and PX3:
https://youtu.be/MWVsNWZjeCQ
The Dasaita is noticeably quicker than the Seicane but the Dasaita had 2 bugs I couldn't get past. The Dasaita would not recognize the MicroSD card from sleep. It would be fine from a full reboot, but from sleep it didn't recognize it, and the app switcher button would randomly disappear.
Seicane does not have those issues.
I think Xtrons and Dasaita are very similar, but not positive
Pf84mtv has any one got the original software?
Xtrons gave me a wrong firmware for my system and now my system lost the function of all its buttons and now they emailed me saying sorry they dont have the firmware? Can any one help

Android for Audi

I have been delighted with my Hot Audio PX5 head unit for a Toyota Prado so I have been looking for one that will fit an Audi A3 diesel 2014. It is the model that the screen pops up from the dash.
All I can find is this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/7-Q...tereo-Car-Multimedia-GPS-for/32795966500.html
This has "CPU R16/T3 Cortex-A7 Quad Core 1.6GHZ
- RAM:1GB DDR3, ROM:16GB INAND
- Resolution: 1024X600" according to the specs
Does anyone have any experience of these units or could suggest anything else please?

If you are so happy with your Dasaita (which is Hot Audio), then why don't you take this Dasaita PX5 for you A3?
Edit: sorry, you mention you have a 2014, this for for models to 2013
Because it is a different vehicle the Toyota screen is 10 inches the Audi screen is 7 inches and pops out of the dashboard.

You did not check my link. It IS a 7" PX5 for an Audi A3, be it for a year older model. Ask the supplier.
I have an pb78aa3rp from Xtrons in my A3 and can recommend. Everything plug'n'play.
Thanks to both of you for responding, first I did check the link I have contacted the supplier to ask if they supply any units for a 2104 A3
Also the Xtrons unit would be great if it would fit but unfortunately my screen pops out of the dashboard when switched on it has no buttons on the front as shown these are fixed screen units which are different?

Ownice C800/C800 Pro with DSP + Wireless CarPlay

Looks like the new Ownice C800/ C800 Pro units have been released.
CPU: PX5 1.5 Ghz
RAM: LPDDR4 4GB
Flash: 32GB
6 Channel DSP C800 and 8 Channel DSP on the C800 Pro
Car Play support and Wireless Car Play support on the C800 Pro

The unit looks good and hopefully. I have purchased one and will do a review once its installed. It's replacing a PX5 Joying DSP unit that had terrible bluetooth issues.
The sound quality from the Joying was great and I hope this takes it to the next level.
Where did you purchase yours? I cannot find it listed outside of Vietnam.

Aliexpress
Looking forward to your review.
Drop links on where to buy it from. I've been anticipating the c800 Pro
I could only find it here, not the official Ownice store.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-...agen-VW-Tiguan-L-2017-4G-RAM/32837626903.html
They are listing it on the official store for my car but it's not an "official" listing and the naming is not the same they call it a K3. There's no mention of the 8 channel DSP and it's unclear if the IPS screen version is available. I'm waiting for the proper listing to come out.
found a couple of videos, looks good but still has the terrible tuner and music player interface
Also interested in topic, currently on C500+ 8Core looking for some replacemnt.
Anyone knows whats the difference between C800 and K3 units - specs seems the same.
Found some more info today:
K3-Low ( Rockchip PX30 Platform) : 6-Channel DSP | WiFi | 4core & 2G+16G | Android 9.0 | 2.5D + TN Screen
K3-High ( Rockchip PX5 Platform) : 6-Channel DSP | WiFi | 8core & 4G+32G | Android 8.0 | 2.5D +IPS Screen
C800 pro (Rockchip PX5 Platform):8-Channel DSP | Wireless CarPlay | WiFi | 8core & 4G+32G | Android 8.0 | 2.5D + IPS Screen
Also attaching table from one of the offers
The K3 and c800 are the same units in the same sense as the K2 and C500+ are the same unit. It's just Ownice using different terminology from their resellers. But as the C500+ is called K2 low and the C500pro is the K2 high I would expect the C800pro to be called K3 high. Their listing shows the K3 high is an 8 core 6 channel DSP unit and I haven't seen anything to confirm it has the IPS screen. The maddening bit is where does the C800pro fit? Is it a K4? It seems only the resellers have the 8 channel DSP + IPS units.
That Shenzen Burgeon reseller twokidsandaphone linked seems to be the best listing so far. The others I've seen were the official Ownice Vietnamese and European stores. I'd rather buy it from the official store hopefully they would have better support.
Seems there are different sites with different info, but I would guess the post above is pretty close. K3 likely to be c800. Interestingly the one source suggested it is running Pie. Same source shows the K5 coming soon, maybe this is the c800 pro, or maybe the K3 high will be? No K4, possibly because of tetraphobia :cyclops:.
At any rate, aside from the one place I linked earlier any location on AliExpress that shows they exist actually doesn't list the c800/k3 as an option to buy under the "select colour" button, therefore they are not actually for sale. Ownice official store told me that they don't know the real release date, just that it is supposed to be in March.... They are running out of time
Thanks for that info gives me hope I'll get to replace that factory utter P.O.C. soon. I'm waiting for the C800pro but too bad we can't get it now the anniversary sale is on and there's a decent discount that would make up for the poor dollar performance.
Ownice recently updated their listing for my car they're announcing new units based on PX30, Intel SC9853 and some Allwinner SOC. New models that appear to be available now are G20 a 4 core version of C500+ and G30 PX30's with hi and lo end options. Oddly the only thing listed running Pie are the PX30's. Is that the K3 low or is the current listings wrong about Pie?
Wow that's a lot of models. I remember seeing a video from Ownice working on all-around view for traffic (safety system), so I guess that's the Intel Airmont model. C800 was listed earlier as PX5. The mediatek/autochips is what they have used up until now. Why they use Cxxx, Kx, and Gxx god only knows. Guess there is no point in speculating....!!!
More news from the Ownice Europe Store
I enquired again with the official Ownice store. Seems all can be ordered and I got a very few details on specs.
What a totally messed up way to buy something. I check the ShenZhen Burgeon store and they have a bunch of C800pro listed in the new arrival page. Unfortunately my car is not there. Still for those that find their car there is no hoops to jump through or need to buy items you don't want or need. I almost went for it but I can't use their TPMS it's built in my car and you have no idea how annoying it can be when the system doesn't detect the sensors. I have no need for the DVR either.
Hello
I am a newbie in aftermarket Android HU; I want to replace annoying Honda's "Android" standard as it is useless. I have a few questions about the HU. Maybe someone knows the answers or know how to deal with that from the past.
1. HU claims wireless compatibility with CarPlay, is AndroidAuto connection supported also, or a better way go with C800 not Pro and buy USB adapter?
2. Does the HU support CAN? Will my steering wheel controls work? WiIl I have reverse camera guidelines work? Do I need an adapter for that?
3. Can I connect my current reverse camera?
Thanks
I don't think anyone here has one yet. Maybe the OP can let us know if they have received theirs?
I've been looking at android HU for a few months now and I settled on this one. The CarPlay, AndroidAuto functionality is not something I was concerned much with. AFAIK, your mileage will vary. Apparently CarPlay has issues with phones running higher than 7. AndroidAuto is fussy and more or less a work in progress. If you check the features on the page for your car's HU they talk about MirrorLink app. Now I'm not sure which app that is since MirrorLink is a standard not an app but the functionality is limited to a few phones as well.
I saw others are using Tablet Talk to read SMS and phone and figured I'd probably have to go that route. I would like to get voice command working with it but until I have the unit I'm not spending too much effort on figuring that one out.
As for Steering Wheel Control if you see it on the feature list for your car it will be available. Check this site for the unit that fits your car. They actually took the time to customize each page for the HU and they show you "what's in the box". If your car needs a CANbus adapter you will see it with the harness.
If the HU doesn't come with the adapter things like reverse camera guide lines will depend on the camera itself. The reverse camera is connected with RCA you will need to figure out how to make the connection. I ordered a camera with built in gyroscope so the guide lines curve to match the car motion.

Head Unit Advice

Hi All,
I'm looking at options for an Android Head Unit for a 2011 Mazda 6 (GH) - and there's also a Windows based Dynavin unit in the mix. Any recommendations based on spec or experience? Are there any other manufacturers / resellers that I've not considered.
It looks like the Belsee is the highest spec unit of the lot if I'm reading the spec properly but the downside is a lack of a UK reseller. The Windows unit has decent RAM but the CPU appears slower compared to the Android units but I guess it's a more "focussed" unit on its specific task so doesn't need the same amount of grunt to run lots of Android apps.
Belsee (with the PX6 upgrade option / 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM) - Google "Belsee Best Aftermarket Android 10 Q Auto Head Unit Stereo Upgrade Car Radio Replacement for Mazda 6"
Eonon MTK 8227L / 2GB RAM / 32GB ROM (model number Eonon GA9498B)
Xtrons MTK A7 / 2GB RAM / 16GB ROM (model number Xtrons PST90M6M)
And the Dynavin unit (model number MZ002IX) for comparison seems to be based on their N7 Pro for which the spec sheet says it runs on Windows and is a 833MHz CPU with 4GB RAM.
Tried to post links but I'm new to the forums so can't unfortunately!
Many thanks,
Craig
First of all, what do you plan on doing with your head unit? I sincerely doubt there is any reason to buy the Windows unit, especially with lackluster specs.
Will you install an aftermarket sound system? Or are you keeping everything original? Will you want to use your phone with the unit? Do you have iOs or Android?
