Hello guys,
I need your honest opinion.
I need to get a new device. I only use blackberry old phone at this moment.
I am thinking of mi 6 or mi A1? Which one do you think is better?
I am thinking a1 for the price and stock android (what I love with oneplus before) but I like also to have snapdragon 835 and EIS for camera.
EIS also affect the quality of normal photos or videos only? I have shaky hands by the way.
Please advice.
Pricing:
mi a1 = 749 aed
mi 6= 1399 aed
Thanks guys
isn't one plus 5 vs mi 6 a better comparison.
i agree however oneplus 5 is out because of my budget
The A1 is easy to unlock bootloader and root. After that you can enable EIS in the build prop and install ported Google cam with HDR+. It's excellent.
The SD625 actually performs quite well on the A1. It may not be as fast as an 835, but it's always smooth and probably more battery friendly.
MI6 has NFC I think, which the A1 doesn't so that could be something to consider.
For the price, stock android AND a great camera, you just can't go wrong with the A1 imo.
Hello everyone, I'm intending buying a new phone in the Middle range prices and after some researches i sticked to this 2 choices: Mi A1 and Redmi 5 Plus, i'm not fascinated by the 18:9 aspect ratio, i'm just looking for handy Value for money phone especially in terms of future supporting by developers.
what do you think?
After my Redmi 4 Prime i can say you one thing..
NEVER BUY A REDMI PHONE.
Redmi Note and Mi series are ok.

Buy Redmi Note 5 pro
Few weeks back, my biggest headache was to choose between the A1 or Redmi Note 4. Both phone are great, and of course the rn4 has big battery. And undoubtedly, the rn4 developer support is really really great. Unlike Mi A1 right now, well, there is development going but..hmm..
The rn5 looks nice with that 18:9 screen.. not sure bout how will the dev support be for that device tho. Anyhow, loving my A1 :victory:
Easily redmi 5 or 5 plus. Mi A1 is good but the redmi will probably be so much supported on xda and that 18:9 display is gorgeous. And the battery!
It really depends on the taste of android u want. Mi a1 offers pure stock vanilla Android just like in Google pixels and redmi note 5 offers miui a heavily skinned custom Ron with loads of features.
Also mi a1 has dual camera for portrait mode shots and redmi note 5 doesn't ( I suppose). If u are a big fan of the latest updates offered by Google then mi a1 is the way to go.

Since Mi A1 didn't get any stable custom roms yet even though Xiaomi releases the Kernel Source, i'm afraid the developers left this device!
Hopefully redmi 5 and 5 plus get Xda developers Support, but till now no independent
thread for both of them

I'm still in this headache!
developer support for the phone is a MUST!
I was going to buy Meizu M6 note... same Mi A1 price and defiantly beats it specially with both Cameras, but since it doesn't have any Supporting i left it!

If developer support is a must for you, then I guess you should wait for xiaomi to release rn5 pro kernel sources and then get that phone. The A/B partition in the A1 might be one of the reasons why the A1 have not been getting much love..

Go for Redmi Note 5 Pro period.!
I have the Meizu m6 note and it's a great.
Great battery, good camera, no lag, but also no development either.
I have the Redmi 5 plus on order and had hoped it would be here by now. Ordered it January 29.
Hopefully it is supported.

IMO, since the 18:9 screen doesnt fancy you, then it comes to camera vs battery. A1 for camera and R5+ for battery.

According to camera comparisons, Redmi Note 5 has a vastly better camera even though it's single vs dual.
Not much seems to be going for A1 unforunately, except Oreo.
Hi guys, I have a restricted budget (around 150 EUR) and just want good battery life and good value for money, not gaming at all, a decent camera.
Where I live I can buy a brand new Xiaomi Mi A1 for less than 150€, I was wondering if I should go for it (custom rom, google cam ecc) or just wait for the Mi A2 Lite to drop the price a little (more compact design, newer)? What's your opinion?
Go for Mi A2 Lite, it is newer, better looking, has better battery capacity, bigger screen and will be supported officially longer than Mi A1 obviously
There are cons too but it's nothing to complain about.

The MiA2 lite is shorter and not as wide but it is thicker and still has the 625 cpu. You might want to consider the RN5 AI as well.

If you want a better battery go for a2 lite, if you want a better camera (dual 12 Mpixel, optical zoom) go for mi a1.
I'm doubting A1 has better camera. Mi A1's camera really is quite bad. I'd go with Redmi note 5 or Mi A2 lite every day. A1 is'nt worth it with it's noisy sound, network instability and mediocre camera.

You can find all of this on Mi A2 (from some feedbacks on MIUI Forum)
mi a2 lite so bulky and weird. btw mi a2 lite rear camera has 12+5mp which is not better than mi a1 (12+12) in quality, but in stability mi a2 lite is better because has gyro-EIS which makes video quality better. if u have more budget just pick mi a2/redmi note 5 pro

Noisy sound is not in my case. Guess it was somehow fixed.

They've Kinda fixed it by decreasing the gain. But it's still there and by doing that fix they've decreased the punch in bigger headphones

Not getting much worse than a reference implementation by Omnivision. And just relembered, I haven't even mentioned that scrolling on Mi A1 has never been smooth.
Hello.
I'm going to switch from my old op3 to a new phone. I'm on a buget, about 350$, and I can't decide between 9T and pocophone. The 9T looks promising but there is a huge lack of mods (roms, gcam ports, official twrp etc). On the other hand pocophone has a huge dev community, much like op1 had back in the day.
If I knew that the 9T will gain the same ammount of interest from devs I would buy it but F1 is a clear winner because of the community around it.
I understand that F1 camera quality is much improved with gcam ports. But is it better than the 9T default camera performance?
The display is also a downside for F1. OLED is anyway much better than any IPS but then again, there is small to none community around 9T.
I'm kinda stuck between these two. What would you buy?
Havoc is currently quite stable and the devs are still working on it. The display really looks good and that would be enough for me to take 9T over Pocophone to be honest.

You are probably misinformed, if you want to use gcam 9t supports the latest builds of gcam 7 with no issues. You can find topics here on the forum. I'm using it myself.
I come from a pocophone and I can tell you I did the best choice:
1 Got rid of that awful notch, and now I have a big ass screen
2 AMOLED
3 The best custom ROM for Poco was Havoc, 9T has it and it's really good
4 Now I have LTE everywhere ( I'm from USA) on Poco I had only H+
5 Camera is really good, Poco was a little better, but for user experience, its excellent.
Yes maybe 9t lacks of Custom ROMs but I have eto be honest, what is the advantage of having 10 custom ROMs which only difference is the ROM name, it's better to have two or three but really good and stable
Is the WIDEVINE L1 reverting to L3 when unlocking bootloader/installing custom roms still a problem?

Got to agree with most of this but from the few photos I have taken so far with the stock camera, I thought they looked a little better than Poco.
Had Poco for 6 months, and liked everything about it but ghost touch issue was killing me, so i sold it and got Mi9t, and here is my opinion:
- system performance is excellent
- cameras are better on Poco, especially gcam ports which are much more oprimized than for Mi9t
- battery life is ok, but on Poco it was more consistent, I got similar SOT on both
- fingerprint scanner is much much better on Poco
- popup camera is slow and gimmicky, totally unecessary
I would advise you not to switch for now, I sold my Mi9t and bought Mi8, which is a better phone all around
Dear Friends
I would like to buy Xiaomi Mi 9T or Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, but I have got some questions:
1. Are stabilization - Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) in Xiaomi Mi 9T on video [email protected] exact the same as in Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro or it's worse, because of weaker hardware power?
2. Maybe some of you are able to share experience in case, which device will do a better quality pictures Xiaomi Mi 9T/Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro or action camera GoPro Hero 8 Black/GoPro Hero 7 Black?
3. The same question as second one, but about video quality [email protected] with stabilization on.
4. Are there better mobile phones in this price level in the matter of picture and video quality, stabilization?
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Sincerely
